Auf dem Heimweg, als die Stadt bereits in jenes feuchte Dämmerlicht sank, das dem Spätherbst eine gewisse Würde verleiht, fand er – nicht aus Zerstreutheit, sondern gleichsam als leiser Auftrag an sein fühlendes Vernunftwesen – Blumen auf dem Pflaster, einzeln, wie sorgsam hingelegt. Eine gelbe Rose zuerst: die nüchterne Freundschaft, dachte er, nicht ohne das säuerliche Aroma des Verdachts, den die Farbe im Herzen alter Geschichten führt. Dann eine Orchidee, schmal, von beinahe intellektueller Kälte; er fühlte sich gemustert und doch milde gelobt. Eine Iris lag weiter vorn, und mit ihr, wie aus dem Nichts, jenes nervöse Aufflackern des Schöpfergeistes, das ihn manchmal auf dem Heimweg überfiel. Schließlich eine Calla – reine Form, höfliche Faszination – und, wie ein Schatten am Rand der Empfindung, ein Stück Mohn, das in seiner weichen Schwärze etwas von Selbstverlorenheit versprach. So geführt, ließ er die belebte Straße hinter sich. Ein Haselzweig lag quer über dem Pfad: Sehnsucht, ja; die Luft roch nach nassem Holz und nach dem Zufall, der gar keiner war. Er ging weiter, und als die Stadt ganz verstummt war, stand die Hütte – nicht romantisch, vielmehr zweckmäßig, doch in einer Würde, die das Nötige mit dem Schicksal verwechselte. Dort wartete ein Mann, der im Halbdunkel die Ruhe einesjenigen trug, der seine Geschichten nicht eilig hat. Er bat den Ankömmling hinein, wärmte die Hände am gusseisernen Ofen und sagte ohne Prunk: Die Lotophagen. Und er erzählte – nicht schwärmerisch, sondern mit jener trockenen Humanität, die Unerhörtes erträglich macht – von Odysseus' Männern, die den süßen Lotus kosteten, Vergessen fanden und das Heim vergaßen, ja, den Willen selbst, und wie schwer es sei, den Menschen aus der betäubenden Gnade der Gegenwart in die strenge Arbeit der Rückkehr zu heben. Der Zuhörer nickte, und während die Worte sich setzten wie Schnee, schob sich in sein Inneres die heitere Strenge einer Kornblume: Hoffnung, schlicht und blau. Der Mann am Ofen lächelte, griff nach einer verkratzten Mandoline und sang, ohne falsche Scham, nur die Überschrift seines Liedes, die schon alles sagte: „Blau blüht der Enzian“. Die vier Silben standen im Raum wie ein blauer Hut auf grauem Mantel; und als er „blau blüht der Enzian“ wiederholte, sah der andere tatsächlich eine alpine Klarheit vor sich, Enzian als Bewunderung, vielleicht auch als Dank, und spürte in sich eine Bewegung, die weder Eitelkeit (Hortensie) noch Verschwiegenheit (Veilchen) war, sondern das still geneigte Wissen, dass ein Mensch, der die Sprache der Blumen beherrscht, auf eigene Weise schön ist. Sie redeten nicht mehr viel. Das Feuer nahm die letzten Töne in sich auf; draußen stand der Wald. Als es Zeit wurde – und sie wussten beide, dass Zeit immer auch Urteil bedeutet – trat der Erzähler näher, hielt ihm eine kleine, unauffällige Edelweiß-Blüte hin. „Für die Treue“, sagte er, „für die Liebe.“ Dann, mit einem feinen, beinahe gelehrten Lächeln, drehte er die Blüte langsam kopfüber. „Und – du kennst die Regel – wenn eine Blume hängt, sagt sie das Gegenteil.“ So war es eine Blume und doch zwei Worte: Liebe, und, im sanften Senken, Abschied. Der Heimkehrer nahm sie, als nähme er eine Aufgabe an, und ging in den Wald hinaus, leicht beschwert, mild geklärt, während hinter ihm das kleine Haus die Wärme der Erinnerung sammelte wie eine Jasminhecke ihren Duft. Agroforst oder auch Agroforstwirtschaft ist eine spezielle Landnutzungsform. Dabei werden Bäume oder Sträucher mit landwirtschaftlichen Kulturen oder Viehhaltung kombiniert. Beispielsweise können Rinder unter Bäumen weiden oder in Streifen gepflanzte Pappeln sorgen für ein spezielles Mikroklima, von dem das Getreide auf dem Feld profitieren kann. Allerdings gibt es einige Punkte zu beachten. Deshalb sollten Landwirte sehr gut planen, welche Gehölze und welche Ackerkulturen zusammenpassen. Unser Gast Ulrich Kotzbauer aus Rerik in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ist Agroforst-Experte. 2019 hat er den Deutschen Fachverband für Agroforstwirtschaft (DeFAF) mitgegründet. Werner Klemme baut seit gut zehn Jahren in Niedersachsen und Nordrhein-Westfalen Schlafmohn an und ist fasziniert von der Kultur - auch wenn sie nicht ganz einfach zu händeln ist: "Der Mohn ist die Diva schlechthin. Weizen kannst du in die Erde drücken, der wächst schon. Roggen kann ich auf den Asphalt schmeißen und der wächst. Aber Mohn... Es ist zu warm, es ist zu kalt, es ist zu nass, es ist zu trocken." Werner ist trotzdem vom Schlafmohn überzeugt. Der Anbau von Schlafmohn war in Deutschland lange Zeit verboten. Inzwischen dürfen Landwirte morphinarme Sorten wieder kultivieren. Pennsylvania Man Sentenced to Life for Beheading Father and Posting Video in Anti-Government Manifesto A Pennsylvania man, Justin D. Mohn, 33, has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole after being convicted of first-degree murder and terrorism for the brutal killing and decapitation of his father, Michael F. Mohn, 68, a longtime federal employee. This case marks the first conviction under Pennsylvania's terrorism statute. The crime occurred on January 30, 2024, in the family's Levittown home. Mohn shot his father with a newly purchased pistol, then decapitated him using a kitchen knife and machete. He subsequently posted a 14-minute video on YouTube displaying his father's severed head while espousing violent anti-government rhetoric and calling for the resignation of federal employees. The video remained online for several hours, garnering approximately 5,000 views before being removed. Prosecutors presented extensive evidence of premeditation, including Mohn's online writings and a USB device found in his possession containing images of federal buildings and instructions for making explosives. They argued that Mohn's actions were a calculated attempt to intimidate federal workers and incite rebellion. Mohn was arrested later that day after scaling a fence at Fort Indiantown Gap, the state's National Guard headquarters. He was found carrying a handgun and materials related to his anti-government plans. During the trial, Mohn testified that he believed he was conducting a "citizen's arrest" of his father for treason. He claimed the beheading was intended to send a message to federal employees. Family members delivered emotional victim impact statements, remembering Michael Mohn as a devoted husband and father who provided unwavering support to his son. His wife, Denice, held a photo of her husband receiving the 2019 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Army Corps of Engineers, an award now named in his honor Judge Stephen A. Corr presided over the bench trial and delivered the guilty verdict. In addition to first-degree murder and two counts of terrorism, Mohn was convicted of multiple other charges, including possession of an instrument of crime, firearms violations, criminal use of a communication facility, terroristic threats, defiant trespassing, and abuse. District Attorney Jennifer Schorn described Mohn's actions as "unimaginable" and emphasized his lack of remorse, stating that the sentence ensures the community's safety from further harm. Mohn's defense attorney acknowledged the difficulty of the case and noted that the decision to forego the death penalty was made after extensive discussions with the Mohn family. A Pennsylvania man who shot, killed and decapitated his father, later displaying the severed head online in a live stream, is on trial for the murder. Justin Mohn was accused of killing his father and calling for others to help him try to overthrow the U.S. government. Mohn faces charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, terrorism related crimes and other offenses for the January 2024 killing of his father, who he described as a "traitor".
