The Knights Templar were a medieval Christian military order founded in the early 12th century. Originally established to protect pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land during the Crusades, they quickly grew in wealth and influence. In 1191, Richard the Lionheart sold Cyprus to the Knights Templar for 100,000 Syrian bezants.*** This provided the Templar Order the opportunity to exploit Cyprus' wealth for its own gain. However, this would not last long. Within a year, Cyprus was in revolt and though the rebellion was ruthlessly quelled, the Templars chose to sell Cyprus back to Richard. They did retain a number of estates and stayed on the island as landowners for centuries.  But their power and wealth attracted jealousy and suspicion. In the early 14th century, King Philip IV of France, heavily indebted to the Templars, orchestrated their downfall. Accused of blasphemy, heresy and sorcery, they were arrested, put on trial and burned at the stake. Cypriot Templars were no exception. So what happened? The Knights Templar remain a subject of fascination and speculation in popular culture and historical research, with many legends and conspiracy theories surrounding their mysterious rituals, alleged secret knowledge and, yes, even hidden Templar treasure in Cyprus! I welcome Professor Emeritus from Cardiff University, Dr. Peter Edbury, to explore the Templars in Cyprus! ***According to Dr. Edbury, a Saracen Bezant was worth the value of its bullion content and would typically weigh about 3.8 grams (80% fine) which would work out to approximately £150 sterling or a total of £15 million! (approx. 19,000,000 USD)

On today's episode, we welcome Timothy Hogan, a Grand Master of the Knights Templar, who brings to light centuries-old mysteries, including the Vatican's secrets and the Holy Bloodline of Jesus. In our fascinating conversation, Hogan reveals deep connections between ancient orders, suppressed knowledge, and the role of the Templars in preserving sacred truths. Our exploration moves beyond historical timelines and into realms of spiritual wisdom that continue to resonate today.Timothy Hogan opens by explaining the origin of Friday the 13th as unlucky, a date tied to the infamous rounding up of the Knights Templar in 1307 by the Roman Church. As Hogan notes, the Templar Order, rich in spiritual wisdom and guardians of sacred treasures like the Holy Grail, had long been perceived as a threat by the powers that sought to control religious narratives. They were not only warriors but also custodians of profound spiritual truths, including Gnostic and alchemical knowledge, which set them apart from the mainstream religious structures of the time.He shares that the Templars viewed Christ as more than a religious figure confined to the Roman Church's teachings. To the Templars, Jesus embodied universal consciousness—an idea closely linked to the wisdom of Eastern traditions, such as the teachings of Krishna and Buddha. Hogan highlights how the Templars understood the "Christos" as a cosmic principle that transcended physicality, merging esoteric Christian teachings with philosophies from ancient Egypt and India. One of the most mind-opening parts of our dialogue was Hogan's revelation of the Templars' connection to the Holy Grail. As he explains, the Grail is not merely a physical cup but a symbol for something much more profound: the connection between individual consciousness and the universal divine mind. “The Grail represents that mystical union between the personal and the cosmic, the finite and the infinite,” says Hogan. The Templars understood this spiritual alchemy, embodying the idea that we are all walking temples, capable of connecting directly to the divine. Our discussion then shifts to one of the greatest controversies in Christian history—the bloodline of Jesus. Hogan shares that, according to Templar tradition, Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene, herself a high initiate in ancient mysteries. Together, they symbolized the union of wisdom (Sophia) and divine consciousness. Through this marriage, a sacred bloodline continued, one that the Templars were tasked to protect, not just physically but spiritually, ensuring that the deeper truths of Christ's teachings endured despite attempts at suppression.SPIRITUAL TAKEAWAYSUniversal Consciousness: The Templars understood Christ as a symbol of universal consciousness, not a deity tied solely to religious dogma. This interpretation opens the door to a more inclusive spiritual understanding. The Holy Grail as Spiritual Alchemy: The Grail, far from being just a cup, symbolizes the union between personal and cosmic consciousness. This mystical union is a form of spiritual enlightenment accessible to all.Guardians of Hidden Knowledge: The Knights Templar were not just warriors but preservers of profound spiritual teachings, merging Christian Gnosticism with the wisdom of ancient Egypt, India, and even Atlantis. In this profound conversation, Hogan invites us to look beyond history books and dogma to uncover the spiritual truths that still have relevance today. He encourages us to seek out the "Holy Grail" within ourselves, awakening to the divine consciousness that permeates all things. As humanity stands at the cusp of greater spiritual awareness, the Templars' mission of preserving sacred wisdom becomes more relevant than ever. Please enjoy my conversation with Timothy Hogan.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/next-level-soul-podcast-with-alex-ferrari--4858435/support.

Join us for an early look at Assassin's Creed The Roleplaying Game by CMON/Ubisoft with co-designers Max Castellani and Andrea Macchi. Download the Assassin's Creed RPG Quickstart here: http://resources.cmon.com/AC-RPG-Quickstart.pdf The FREE Assassin's Creed RPG app is available here: https://acrpgapp.cmon.com/#/ The Assassin Brotherhood has been waging a secret war against their sworn enemy, the Templar Order, for thousands of years. The Templars aim to create a “perfect society” ruled by order and discipline, a goal that is in direct opposition to the ideals of the Brotherhood, which strives to defend the free will of humankind. A tool for the Brotherhood to regain lost ground in the war is the Animus device, technology stolen from the Templars which allows for the exploration of memories encoded in human DNA. Using the Animus, the Assassin Brotherhood has a chance to locate the Pieces of Eden, extremely rare and powerful technological artifacts left behind by an ancient civilization. That is the setting of Assassin's Creed©, which you will explore in our upcoming Roleplaying Game that will be available to pre-order on September 5th! Creating a roleplaying game for Assassin's Creed©, generated great excitement in the development team, but also, as expected, lots of questions. How would we transpose such complex lore that encompasses so many characters across different locations and timeframes to the tabletop? So, a custom system was created by Max Castellani and Andrea Macchi, overseen by our Head of RPGs, Francesco Nepitello. The Assassin's Creed RPG uses the Match System, an original set of rules using 2 sets of 6 custom dice (also available as a digital dice roller on the official and free Assassin's Creed RPG App). This system focuses on promoting fast-paced, fiction-first gameplay. Characters choose how they want to approach situations, calling into play 1 of the 4 areas of competence listed on their Character Files. The 4 areas of competence are Action, Stealth, Wits, and Social. The higher the number on their sheet, the more difficult it is for the character, as the player has to roll that number or higher to succeed. Activating a character's signature traits, gear, or quote (if appropriate) can help them roll extra dice, though! Enter the Animus: Exploring the Assassin's Creed Roleplaying Game As a player, you play the role of a modern-day character, the last Descendant of a lineage comprising one or more members of the Assassin Brotherhood. Possibly even one of the iconic assassins from the videogame series! When you enter the Animus, you take part in a Simulation, a three-dimensional virtual reality world reconstructing a significant event in the history of the Brotherhood. In the Simulation, you assume the role of your Ancestor or of another key Witness to the event, a character represented in the game by a card from the Animi Network Card Deck (or by a virtual card on the Assassin's Creed RPG App). During a Simulation, the abilities of your character are replaced by those of the Ancestor or Witness they are synchronizing with. Players won't be playing a single character, but most likely several different ones across different sessions as they explore different events of the past. They will employ skills which are not solely their own, and will have the opportunity to bring those skills in the Modern Day to continue their fight with a newfound special edge. The past itself will be an infinite canvas, as the Reader (the GM) may carry the characters in adventures across the world and its history, at the same time keeping a unified, epic narrative. With simple game mechanics, the Match System encourages players to express their creativity freely and add to the story and the game world itself. This is an RPG, a game where your strongest allies are creativity and imagination. So, now more than ever, nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

After a week off, Andrew and Nick are back with another great episode with actor Adrian Hough. He has been to the Fairy Creek Blockade and is ready to tell us what it is like there on the ground and his experience there. When he was there, immediately he said "I need to use my privilege to draw more attention to this. I know people, I can get them here." Born in Toronto, Adrian spent 10 years in the UK, where he trained and worked as an actor in theatre and film and television. Returned to Toronto Canada in the 90s and went directly to work. His ability with accents and voice booked him his first audition and job in the animated X-men classic series as the original Nightcrawler. Adrian has since amassed over 100 television and film credits, all of them substantial roles. In 2006 Adrian played the part of Jean Grey's father in 'X-Men 3' becoming the only actor who has both voiced an X-Man and been in the live action movies. In 2011 he got the role that would bring him to the attention of the gamer world. That of the famous video game character, the first Grand Master of the Templar Order's Colonial Rite, Haytham Kenway in the billion-dollar earning, Assassin's Creed 3. His flawless accent and work as the British colonial, completely done in performance capture at Ubisoft's studio, garnered Adrian his first international award nomination, a BAFTA. Ten days after the nomination, in 2013, Adrian's father died. It was a bittersweet time. Adrian's incredible acting skills have landed him a wide range of intense roles. There have been many times he has found himself flying from one production to another, swiftly changing from a demonic murderer to, for example, a man with great piety. Adrian's current on-screen role as Sigourney Weaver's brother in '(re) Assignment' falls into the bad-guy category. He'll tell you that he has developed a fondness for playing men of dubious character and motives, and that he likes to always find a heart within the monster. In life however, the man himself couldn't be kinder. Adrian's ocean-side island home keeps him and his three children close to the water and old growth forests which he works passionately to protect.

Author Timothy Hogan is our guest in podcast episode 161 to discuss his most recent book The Way of the Templar: A Manual for the Modern Knight Templar.Timothy Hogan is an author and lecturer on the mysteries of the Western esoteric tradition. He has been received, knighted, and initiated within several Templar lineages around the world. He is the current Grand Master of the Knights Templar (Ordre Souverain du Temple Initiatique) and is President of CIRCES International. He regularly speaks around the world in both public and private venues. He has appeared previously in Occult of Personality podcast episode 91 to discuss his books The Alchemical Keys to Masonic Ritual and The 32 Secret Paths of Solomon, and episode 124 talking about Entering the Chain of Union, his acclaimed book on comparative Western esotericism.“This is not a standard book on the Knights Templar. This book is a manual for the modern day Knight Templar. This book includes the secret history of the Templar Order, much of which has never been published in one place like this before. The book also contains an exploration of the Templar philosophy and challenges for the future. Rather than just exploring profane Templar history, this book provides the story behind the story. Regardless of what Templar lineage you may or may not belong to, the information provided in these pages are sure to resonate with anyone who has the heart of a Templar. It is a book written to prepare the Way for the Gnosis of the Grail, and to provide a sense of mission and direction to those brave chevalier preparing to do the Great Work in the Aquarian House we are collectively entering. Non nobis Domine, non nobis. Sed nomine Tuo da gloriam!”“The Knight Templar … the warrior monk … the Grail guardian. Such images conjure thoughts in the imagination that have inspired some to the greatest acts of nobility on the one hand, and have led others into escapism or worse – into zealous fanaticism with ideas of crusading against the others in the One human family… [R]egardless of what tradition or lineages a would be Templar comes from, it should be stressed, that the heart of a true Templar is found in one who desires with all of their being to protect the sacred – regardless of its source… By its very nature then, the foundation of Templarism rests on a gnosis, or a direct personal experiential knowledge of God and the divine – regardless of what cultural names are used for this Source. To keep this principle in mind is to drink from the Holy Grail.” – Timothy Hogan, Introduction, p.9-10Timothy Hogan is a listener favorite for a number of reasons and it’s always a pleasure to hear the revelations he shares! The Way of the Templar reveals a good amount of information that I’ve never seen anywhere before which does fill in a lot of gaps. Whether you find it convincing or too convenient, I think it’s worth reading. I also appreciated the less fundamentalist and more tolerant perspective promoted by Hogan in this book. Additionally, the advice included at the conclusion to the book, “Templar Ideas to Remember” is worth it in and of itself. I highly recommend The Way of the Templar for all those interested in the saga of the Knights Templar, as well as guidance in applying the Templar philosophy in your life.In the Occult of Personality Membership Section, author Timothy Hogan talks more about the secret history of the Knights Templar, including the connections with gnosticism, the Larmenius Charter and survival of the original Templar Grand Master lineage, and much, much more. Author Timothy Hogan is our guest in podcast episode 161 to discuss his most recent book The Way of the Templar: A Manual for the Modern Knight Templar. Timothy Hogan is an author and lecturer on the mysteries of the Western esoteric tradition. He has been received, knighted, and initiated within several Templar lineages around the world. He is the current Grand Master of the Knights Templar (Ordre Souverain du Temple Initiatique) and is President of CIRCES International. He regularly speaks around the world in both public and private venues. He has appeared previously in Occult of Personality podcast episode 91 to discuss his books The Alchemical Keys to Masonic Ritual and The 32 Secret Paths of Solomon, and episode 124 talking about Entering the Chain of Union, his acclaimed book on comparative Western esotericism. “This is not a standard book on the Knights Templar. Sed nomine Tuo da gloriam!” “The Knight Templar … the warrior monk … the Grail guardian. To keep this principle in mind is to drink from the Holy Grail.” – Timothy Hogan, Introduction, p.9-10 Timothy Hogan is a listener favorite for a number of reasons and it’s always a pleasure to hear the revelations he shares! I highly recommend The Way of the Templar for all those interested in the saga of the Knights Templar, as well as guidance in applying the Templar philosophy in your life. In the Occult of Personality Membership Section, author Timothy Hogan talks more about the secret history of the Knights Templar, including the connections with gnosticism, the Larmenius Charter and survival of the original Templar Grand Master lineage, and much, much more. Jacques de Molay the 23rd and final Grand Master of The Poor Fellow Soldiers of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, better know as The Knights Templar. The Knights Templar formed in 1119 and quickly rose in power and wealth. With help from the church they were able to amass a fortune in money and property. They were fierce warriors of God that set out to protect the Holy Land and Christian pilgrims. Lead by Jacques de Molay in the late 13th Century the Knights Templar were the wealthiest institution in Europe. They revolutionized the banking industry, granting lines of credit and loaning money to the Nobles and Kings of Europe. A Templar Knight is truly a fearless knight, and secure on every side, for his soul is protected by the armour of faith, just as his body is protected by the armour of steel. He is thus doubly armed, and need fear neither demons nor men. ~Bernard de Clairvaux King Philip IV of France, with the help of Pope Clement V, plotted to dissolve the Templar Order, seize their treasure and rule a new Order of Knights. On Friday the 13th, October 1307 King Philip arrested Jacques de Molay and thousands of Knights Templar all across France. The Knights were tortured until they confessed heresy. Jacques de Molay recanted his confession and Pope Clement V ordered his execution along with senior members of the Knights Templar. On 18 March 1314, 700 years ago this month, Jacques de Molay was burned at the stake for heresy and devil worship, with his last breath he placed a curse on King Philip and Pope Clement. After the death of de Molay the Knights disbanded and their fleet of ships disappeared along with all their treasure. In this lesson we will examine the life and death of Jacques de Molay, the Origin of the Knights Templar, the treasures they held and the conspiracy theories that surround them.
