by UFO History Buff & Author, Charles Lear It's always a plus when UFO cases come along with physical evidence to back them up. Sometimes this evidence is in the form of physiological effects on the witnesses, and cases involving these are numerous enough that investigators have been able to focus on them as a specific area of study. Conjunctivitis (burning red eyes), nausea, hair loss, numbness, paralysis, and burns are some of the symptoms commonly described, but a very unusual effect was reported in the following 1976 case from Bolton, England. While the incident was said to have occurred in 1976, it didn't show up in major media until 1987. In the March 1987 issue (page 19 of the pdf) of She magazine, there is an article by Peter Hough headlined “The UFO in Armadale Road.” According to Hough, at 5:15 p.m. on January 23, 1976, 17-year-old Shelley McLenaghan had just gotten off a bus and was 100 yards from home when she saw a UFO. She is quoted as saying, “Before that, I would have thought anybody who said they'd seen a UFO was crazy.” She added, “I think the government know far more than they let on.”McLenaghan is then quoted describing her encounter: Read more →CONTACT AND SUPPORT

In this compelling novel, acclaimed author Robert Hough recreates the political violence and revolutionary idealism that flowed through New York City during the Gilded Age of the 1890s. At its centre are real-life revolutionists Emma Goldman and Alexander "Sasha" Berkman, whose passionate love affair fuels their commitment to creating a better world.
While the 2024 remake of 'Speak No Evil' delivers plenty of frightening moments that will have you squirming in your seat, it also carves its own distinct identity with unexpected twists. The film is anchored by superb performances from its entire cast, but one portrayal is truly a standout. As the young, non-verbal Ant, Dan Hough delivers a performance of remarkable strength and nuance, creating a character whose safety we become deeply invested in. He is the magnetic center of the film's rising tension, and it's my pleasure to have interviewed him. Join me as I sat down with Dan Hough in this interview about his debut role! This young and very talented actor delivered his role as Ant and it's an exceptional performance. Anyone who is nominated for Young British/Irish Performer of the Year for a role that has no dialogue deserves it! Dan Hough is very talented in my opinion. We spoke about how he prepared for a role that relied heavily on non-verbal communication and how he had to practice conveying his emotions, what it was like to work on set with James McAvoy and developing the on-screen dynamic with the other actors. Dan has also revealed that there is a documentary on YouTube where he revisits the set after two years and surreal because that was essentially his home for the entire duration of filming.

If you run a business with a sales team, this episode will make you uncomfortable. That's the point. Marcus Cauchi and Andy Hough have a no-holds-barred conversation about why sales has become distrusted, what's causing it, and what founders and CEOs can actually do to fix it. Andy has spent decades in the field, from Lloyds and Barclays to 16 years at EMC (now Dell), and has since sat through hundreds of hours of sales meetings as a researcher. He knows where the bodies are buried. What we cover in this episode: Why sales has shifted from a relationship-driven profession to a numbers and technology treadmill, and what that's costing you in customer trust, revenue quality, and staff retention. How shareholder pressure flows down through leadership, management, and sellers, and arrives in front of your buyers as inauthenticity, shallow discovery, and unwanted pressure. Why the best sales interactions are built on understanding how your customer makes money, protects margin, and carries risk, and why most sales teams have lost this entirely. The 90-day productivity myth. Research puts it at 3.2 years for a salesperson to hit full stride. Most organisations churn people before they ever get there. Why activity metrics destroy quality, and what the alternative actually looks like in practice. The player-manager trap and why it almost always ends badly for the team, the manager, and ultimately the customer. What sales coaching actually is, and why the gap between what managers think they're doing and what salespeople are experiencing is wider than most leaders realise. Why seller psychological safety is as important as buyer trust, and how the wrong people keep getting promoted. Why your CRM is aligned to your sales process and not your buyer's journey, and why that single misalignment is costing you deals you didn't even know you lost. The case for sustainable sales: focusing on the 6-to-36 month pipeline where there's no competition, time to build real relationships, and room to become a trusted adviser rather than another vendor chasing a quarterly number. The question this episode leaves every founder and CEO with: Are the systems you've built designed to create trust with customers, or are they quietly destroying it in order to hit this quarter's number? And critically, does anyone in your organisation feel safe enough to tell you? About Andy Hough Andy Hough is co-founder of the Institute of Sales Professionals, a tireless advocate for sales as a profession, and a doctoral researcher studying the adaptability of salespeople and its impact on performance. He lectures at Cranfield University and is part of the Global Sales Science Institute. He has carried a target, led teams, and spent his career trying to return sales to what it was in its best form. A genuinely human, outcome-focused profession. Jennifer Shaffer is a medium/intuitive who works with members of law enforcement nationwide, including agents from the FBI, NYPD and LAPD. We met ten years ago and began a conversation that has continued undaunted onto this podcast. I'm a filmmaker, author who has written 13 books about the afterlife, Jennifer and I met up ten years ago and have been meeting weekly ever since. We have four books together BACKSTAGE PASS TO THE FLIPSIDE 1, 2, 3 and TUNING INTO THE AFTERLIFE. Jennifer has been instrumental in helping me to get information from people offstage - including #AmeliaEarhart and the book #SheWasNeverLost - the Amelia Earhart saga. In today's podcast we talk to someone that Jennifer didn't know when he was on the planet, but has met and works with members of his family. In our podcast, he refers to someone who saw him many years ago - someone whom I knew who worked with him. Upon further reflection, I'm not sure if he was referring to my friend or not - but either way, I knew who Jennifer was referring to. Steve wanted to speak about AI - and argue that it's not something to fear but something that will enhance the ability of people to think at a faster rate. We talked about the value and pitfalls of that - and he's arguing that people can use it as a tool that it's meant to be used as. I asked some questions about #Parkinsons (and the show "Shrinking which had an episode about it) as well as my old USC professor the late Coleman Hough who had Parkinsons and appears in the film HACKING THE AFTERLIFE where it vanishes during her six hour interview. We talked about how that is or why that happened, and then talk about the idea that "filters on the brain" (see Dr. Greysons book AFTER pg 125 or DIVINE COUNCILS IN THE AFTERLIFE for a discussion of the research into filters on the brain) might be something to examine, look into as science tries to cure Parkinsons. We reiterate we're asking questions, not giving any medical advice - not medical advice is implied or suggested or given. However, when talking about the brain and the research involved with looking for "filters on the brain" and how it is that Jennifer's brain is in a "delta state" during her sessions (as proven by MRI's that she has done on camera, and the same results were demonstrated via Dr. Drew and Tyler Henry's MRIs.) That people who do this kind of mediumship MAY BE stepping past those filters - and that doing so on a daily basis may help or heal parts of the brain. That's the general discussion and we do these discussions to inspire people to do their own. Hope this helps.

The Irish Midlands flow to the relentless rhythm of the River Shannon and along its banks the Irish Stew podcasters found themselves again, Day Five of their “Off the Beaten Craic in the Hidden Heartlands” wanderings, gazing across its broad expanse from the docks of the County Offaly town of Banagher. There, cohosts John Lee and Martin Nutty met local historian James Scully and caught up with an old friend of John's, Mark Boylan, who covers horseracing for The Irish Field, to explore the history, legend, music, and all that gives life and character to this small Shannon-side community with a population aspiring to hit the 2,000 mark.James met us at the cozy, convivial Flynn's Pub on Main Street, but the craic there proved too mighty for recording purposes, so the trio beat a retreat to the hilltop Church of St Paul's for what proved to be Irish Stew's first recording in a church (but not their last as you'll hear in the final Hidden Heartlands episode).A lifelong educator and noted local historian, James set about unraveling the history of the old Irish saying, “That Beats Banagher!,” in a book of the same name which he co-wrote with Kieran Keenaghan. In this richly illustrated volume they explore the murky provenance of “That Beats Banagher!” and how it entered Irish political and cultural lore. A beguiling spinner of the town's stories, James shares tales of the earliest days of the town, the arrival of the international man of mystery from the 1600s Matthew de Renzy, the town's unexpected literary links to Anthony Trollope and Charlotte Brontë, Banagher's vibrant community life, and its status as a popular port of call for the river cruising crowd. They started the day in a pub, absolved their sins in a church, and then retreated to a pub, J.J. Hough's Singing Pub, a renowned destination for trad music fans and tourists alike run by Ger Hough, who IrishCentral called the most creative publican in Ireland. There they met David and Mark Boylan who John got to know when the Breeders' Cup flew the whole Boylan family to Kentucky so the then 14-year-old Mark could sing his Breeders' Cup song before about 80 thousand fans at Churchill Downs for the 2011 World Championship race meet. Mark may be all grown up but he hasn't outgrown his love of horses and of his hometown of Banagher which shines through in the closing segment. And in such a small, tight-knit community it was no surprise to learn that James was Mark's teacher at St Rynagh's School.Well, that beats Banagher!Next week Irish Stew hits pause on their Off the Beaten Craic series to embrace the season of giving with the story of a New York City charity rooted in the plight of the impoverished Irish immigrants in the notorious Five Points district in our conversation with Sean Granahan, president of The Floating Hospital.LinksJames ScullyBook: That Beats Banagher!Mark BoylanThe Irish FieldXInstagramFacebookHidden Heartlands Travel ResourcesIreland.comDiscover Ireland's Hidden HeartlandsIrish Stew LinksWebsiteInstagramLinkedInEpisode Details: Season 7, Episode 36; Total Episode Count: 139
On March 20th, 1995, the Tokyo subway system was flooded with sarin nerve gas in a coordinated terrorist attack by the religious cult Aum Shinrikyō. Led by the charismatic new-age guru, Shoko Asahara, the well-funded and technologically ambitious Aum organization manufactured and deployed chemical weapons in an attempt to bring about the end of the world. In the chaos that followed, 13 people were killed, thousands were injured, and the international community shuddered at the possibility of future attacks by fringe political groups. We are headed back to a familiar place. Pennsylvania, it calls me back again. Jim over at Liberty Pole is producing some great stuff. And it shows not only in flavor but also in passion. I really hope you enjoy.Thewhiskeyshaman.comLibertypolespirits.comBadmotivatorbarrels.com/shop/?aff=3https://www.instagram.com/zsmithwhiskeyandmixology?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw==Patreon.com/the_whiskeyshamanAbout the HoughsLiberty Pole Spirits is a family owned and operated craft whiskey distillery started by Jim, Ellen, Rob and Kevin Hough in July 2016. The Houghs, longtime residents of Washington County, Pennsylvania got the distilling bug in the early 2000's when Jim bought a 10 gallon still off the interwebs to learn the art of distilling. As Jim was contemplating retirement he began to think about what he could do for a second act. After visiting numerous craft distilleries and having developed some pretty solid whiskey mash bills, Jim was able to convince Ellen that opening a craft whiskey distillery just might be a fun retirement activity. Rob and Kevin, both mechanical engineering graduates who were on their own promising career paths, decided they didn't want their parents to have all the fun and joined the family business. With Rob and Kevin running production, Ellen creating the best craft cocktail and whiskey experience this side of Kentucky, and Jim greeting customers and talking whiskey in the tasting room, Liberty Pole Spirits was born. The distillery started as a 300 gallon operation and expanded to a 600 gallon operation in 2019 and moved to a distillery campus in July of 2023 where we were able to triple our production. Our StoryIn 1791, Washington County, Pennsylvania, was a heavily wooded wilderness at the headwaters of the Ohio River. Many Scotch-Irish veterans of the Revolutionary War had returned to the area and the rocky farms that they had established before the War. They struggled against the weather and disease, and being far from the East Coast, enjoyed few luxuries. But through the rugged ingenuity of the brave Colonists, one of the first American Industries was born. Whiskey. For years, the grain that wasn't consumed was preserved in the form of distilled spirits. It was safer to drink than contaminated water, eased pain and suffering, and improved the spirits of friends and neighbors. It was easy to ship over the mountains in barrels on backs of mules or down the Ohio River to the Mississippi and up the coast to Boston. It was then that the government of our new nation saw the opportunity, through the imposition of an excise tax on whiskey, to pay off the debts owed to the allies who had helped to win independence from tyranny. Yet, the farmers of Washington County were struggling mightily to keep their land and grow crops. Having no cash, they used their whiskey to barter for goods and supplies that they needed for daily life. Whiskey-making provided their best chance to survive. This is why they saw the tax as an imposition of an arrogant, out-of-touch, new government. So they gathered together secretly in a meetinghouse near Mingo Creek and vowed not to pay the tax. They were the first men to oppose an act of the new government, and they vowed to stick together. They called themselves the Mingo Creek Society. As a symbol of their unity, they planted Liberty Poles throughout the county.Years later, the stories of their defiance are preserved in museums, churches and cemeteries around the county. Now, heritage grain once again grows in the same soil they so dearly loved, travels down the paved paths upon which they drove the whiskey-laden mule trains, and arrives at the new Mingo Creek Meetinghouse where it is distilled and enjoyed by the next generation of the Mingo Creek Society. And this time, the Liberty Pole is displayed on the label of each whiskey bottle and symbolizes the loving appreciation for a craft that once again is bringing livelihood to a proud community.

Yesterday, 1.3 million fans tuned in to the Kelce Brothers podcast, "New Heights", LIVE, to watch Taylor Swift. AND IT BROKE THE INTERNET. The first trailer for a two-part Charlie Sheen documentary is out. Here's part of it. Did you know Willie Nelson is a 5th-degree black belt in a Korean martial art called GongKwon Yusul? He is also a 2nd-degree black belt in Taekwondo. Luke Combs has a hilarious story about how he found that out a few years ago. – HERE HE ISKevin Hart is teaming up with Netflix for a new competition series to find the next big stand-up comedian. He'll be joined by a group of comics, who will be announced at a later date. Academy Award–winner Denzel Washington, now 70, is back in theaters with Highest 2 Lowest. During a recent Extra interview, he was asked what advice he'd give to his younger self—and without skipping a beat, he said: “Pray more. That's it. Pray more. Get on your knees more.” people.com+13people.com+13movieguide.org+13Highest 2 Lowest opens in theaters August 15, followed by a premiere on Apple TV+ September 5.People joke about men dating women HALF their age, but with Leonardo DiCaprio you could say that almost-literally. He's 50 now . . . and his current girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti is 27. Dancing With The Stars judge Derek Hough has been named the new host of the long-running entertainment news program Extra. He will replace Billy Bush, who announced his departure from the show earlier this year after a five-year run. Hough will join Extra for its 32nd season, which premieres on September 8th.Kevin Cronin Makes 'Heartbreaking' Decision on Touring FutureFormer REO Speedwagon vocalist Kevin Cronin has decided that his solo band will no longer tour after their scheduled 2025 dates.Cronin decided to tour as The Kevin Cronin Band after falling out with REO bassist Bruce Hall, a decision that seems to have hurt him business-wise.Cronin explained, "This [current] tour has been a delight, but not without its challenges. It's not easy going out as the Kevin Cronin Band, I will tell you. You can't overestimate the power of the name REO Speedwagon and that ubiquitous, winged logo. They mean a lot to people. I can sit here and say that the Kevin Cronin band is doing the same thing until I'm blue in the face, but when people see the Kevin Cronin Band, there's a question -- 'I wonder what this is gonna be?' -- whereas if you see REO Speedwagon and the winged logo on the bill, it's 'I know what that is.'"Even though he's called his decision to no longer tour "heartbreaking", Cronin will appear at select shows, like the Rock Legends Cruise in 2026. If you were rich and famous, what would you collect? Maybe you'd track down a series of dream cars, maybe you'd go for unique artwork, or maybe you'd just totally pimp out your existing keychain collection.
