In today's Daily Fix:Assassin's Creed Shadows has been a hit with critics and with fans, boasting huge first- and second-day player concurrents in the millions. However, Ubisoft has not released sales figures (yet), and cautions that Shadows' sales performance shouldn't be compared to the last mainline AC game, Valhalla, which was released at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic when everyone was staying home and playing games anyway. Shadows instead should be compared to Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Origins, and Mirage, which was the most recent release before Shadows. In other news, two major games just received big updates—Monster Hunter Wilds is getting its first big patch, and Civilization 7 has a new update that addresses much-needed quality-of-life issues.

Hello everyone! The other day, I came across a post about a viral lesson where a history teacher used the video game Assassin's Creed Odyssey to show a famous ancient battle. After looking at his content online for a bit, I KNEW I had to talk to him.  Dale Mahathey is a middle school Social Studies teacher who is finding success with using social media to connect with his kids. He is also a passionate historian who wants to help kids find new ways to connect to the stories of the past—and is doing a wonderful job so far.  Episodes like this remind me of why Teach Me, Teacher exists in the first place. Xbox sales in Europe have collapsed with a 52% drop from October last year, meanwhile PlayStation has seen an increase of 143% in the same time period. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake fell on hard times alongside the difficulties found at its original developer Aspyr. Embracer Group moved the development following these problems over to Saber Interactive - the developers of the recently delayed Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2. Complete silence on the project's progression sparked worry that the game was doomed to be cancelled but according to Boomberg reporter Jason Shreier on X, the project is still being worked on in some capacity. Ad placements are no stranger to video games, as seen years ago in games like Crackdown and Rainbox Six: Vegas on the Xbox 360. Typically these ads have been limited to in-game advertising like billboards and banners that would fit within the world the game is portraying. More recently blatant banner ads have been found in games' main menus and console home screens, but have steered away from appearing in-game. For some Assassin's Creed Odyssey players, in-game banner ads started showing up within the game's map...but Ubisoft has since removed them claiming that it was a technical error all along.

On today's IGN The Fix: Games,Xbox has confirmed several new entries for Xbox Game Pass during its Toyko Game Show presentation, these include the previously PS5-exclusive Deathloop, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey.The upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 is unexpectedly headed to PS4 as well as new-gen consoles. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi explained that the game was now in development for the last-gen PlayStation, but did not mention any Xbox One or Switch version.Capcom has unveiled a ton of new details about Street Fighter 6 including character customization and the return of Ken, Blanka, Dhalsim, and E.
