The late, great Valerie Harper shows up as Mamma Mancini! Thomas Calabro directs this episode, which also includes an ever-dumber Kyle, trouble in paradise for Billy and Sam, and a tone-deaf reaction to Craig's death. 

It's Christmas in July here on the block as Thomas Calabro directs a holiday-themed episode. It's a mixed bag of heavy-handed scenes and some cute moments that allow the characters to breathe. Plus, a special appearance by Jon Secada (remember him?). 

The Billy-Sam storyline is not what you think – it's worse! Meanwhile, Taylor takes the fall but gets the upper hand. And speaking of hands, Michael embarks on a new endeavor.

This episode has the good, the bad, and the ugly. Let's give it credit for starting strong, but some of our players (David Charvet, Brooke Langton) are not up to par. But all hail Thomas Calabro!

We're still in the middle of saying goodbye to Syd, when we lose another OG! (Hint: it's Matt.) Peter and Sam have new hair, and their own dark arcs take new turns.

It's our fourth anniversary! And our gift is an episode that lets us cheer for Amanda and Kyle and Syd and Craig. Plus, Taylor has a brief encounter with a door.

We ponder the age-old question, “Who's a worse actor, Patrick Muldoon or David Charvet?” And we get one of the best dinner scenes in the entire series!

Meanwhile, Alison and Jake continue to keep their affair a secret from Billy while she decides to move into her own apartment away from Melrose. Kyle McBride arrives in Los Angeles and reluctantly approves Taylor's decision to move into Melrose to expand their restaurant chain. This is a rock-solid episode. Syd makes a wrong decision and it feels oh so right. Plus we get our first glimpse of the great Nancy Lee Grahn.

This is it! How does Marcia Cross' long-awaited exit turn out? We have some thoughts.

We like this episode so much we mostly don't care that they've retconned our characters' histories! Matt looks for Chelsea, Syd tries to settle her suit, Allison meets with a client, Amanda buys a new car, and Kimberly gets some new news.

This is the best episode of the season! Allison eavesdrops, Amanda gets sloppy, Syd screws up, and Michael gets sassed. What's not to love?

Matt is back! With another head-scratcher of a story. Meanwhile, Megan finds herself in a tough position and Kyle starts throwing punches. Happy New Year!

We really want a professional to vet the legality of this show's shenanigans. Also, we find out if everyone survived the car crash, Jake and Syd ponder some housing changes, and Amanda buys some bagels.

The midpoint of the season brings about an abrupt shift, including news for Allison, a boon for Syd, Peter as the voice of reason, and lots of talk about email.

Another one bites the dust! “Melrose Place” bids adieu to another OG.

Somehow, every single character got benched in this episode. Oh well — more time to talk about Hilary Swank!

Air Date May 22, 1996. In the two-hour season final, Michael and Amanda put themselves in danger when they break into the Willowbridge asylum in an attempt to rescue Peter from Kimberly/Betsy, only to end up as captives themselves. Then, during a struggle to escape with Nurse Benson's help, Kimberly falls from a balcony and is once again put in a coma. Back in Los Angeles, Alison becomes attracted to Jake when he attempts to get her and Billy back together. Dr. O'Malley proposes marriage to Jo and wants her to leave Melrose and come with him to Bosnia for a medical/photo tour. Thomas Calabro, Alexa Jago, Lil J and Katie Condidorio, stars of the new horror movie Detention, will be the exclusive live guests. In Detention, which will be released by American World Picturesand Take 2 Releasing, a division of Palisades Tartan, a group of high school students are sent to after-school detention for unexplained reasons.  There, the teenagers find themselves abandoned and locked in the classroom after their detention teacher leaves. The kids manage to break out of the classroom only to find that the old building has taken on a life of its own, keeping them trapped inside.  The movie also stars the late David Carradine, Thomas Calabro, Preston Jones, Michael Mitchell and Maitland McConnell.  Detention will be released on DVD June 14th and will be available at major retailers as well as Amazon.com.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Thomas Calabro (aka Dr. Michael Mancini) from Melrose Place last week about the show's return from hiatus. Great chat with a nice guy, and very talented actor.
