Re-Animator (1985), From Beyond (1986), and Dagon (2001) Bringing the works of Howard Phillips Lovecraft to the screen is not an easy task. Much of the horror Lovecraft talked about wasn't described or explained too much, leaving it up to the reader. But when director Stuart Gordon, producer Brian Yuzna, and writer Dennis Paoli got together to adapt Lovecraft's 1922 story "Herbert West - Re-Animator" for a movie, they changed cinema forever. Not only did they show us more than Lovecraft would ever dream of, they created a perfect blend of outrageous horror, gore, and bizarre imagery that would immediately put them in the horror history books. The following year, they took another short story, From Beyond, first published in 1934, and showed even more strange, bizarre, and gooey things we'd seen before, going beyond then what the short story told us. Then 15 years later, these three deranged creators returned to Lovecraft to take us to a fishing village filled with very unusual citizens, in 2001's Dagon. While Gordon's filmography might not be filled with classic after classic, when he hit a home run, usually he was working with Yuzna and Paoli. Films mentioned in this episode: Black Gloves (2017), Color Out of Space (2019), Dagon (2001), Dust Devil (1992), From Beyond (1986), Halloween (1978), Hardware (1990), Lord of Tears (2013), Re-Animator (1985), Shrews Nest (2014), To Let (2006), Witching and Bitching (2013)

In this Episode, Lalitha encourages her audience to  Move from autopilot mode to mindfully making changes. She realized that she was on autopilot mode when she was only creating new contents without giving a thought to repurposing her previous articles/stories  Once she changed her self-talk from “boring, uninspired, and repurposing” TO “Let's pick two old Gem stories/articles, create a new Jewelry, and share it”, she could come up with a brand new article. Not only that she learned a new skill of repurposing by naming it as "creating a new jewelry". Thank you for listening and reading. We had the pleasure of interviewing Bruno Major over Zoom video! The antihero of music stardom, Bruno has been completely uncompromising in his craft, creating unrivaled lyrical landscapes that don't conform to the musical status quo of today, but still deeply resonate with fans, as evidenced by his billion-stream career, propelled by viral hits the RIAA Gold-certified “Nothing” and the RIAA Platinum-certified “Easily.”Dubbed as “one to watch” (Billboard) Bruno returns with “We Were Never Really Friends” – his first release since his last album To Let a Good Thing Die in 2020. The track opens as a gentle piano ballad, nothing more than his plaintive vocals and the instrument—and then the drums come in and the song explodes open as he sings of the heartfelt blurring of friendship and romance and its inevitable messy aftermath. It's a classic rock song, in the vein of McCartney and Lennon (complete with guitar solo), and it's studded with eye-catching details and frank emotions, like a crashed Mercedes and an unreturned plea to come home. Bruno splices classic singer-songwriter confessionals with sleek modern electronic production, girding the entire enterprise with hints of soul. His dedication to sincerity and immediacy in his craft solidified via his 2017 debut record A Song For Every Moon. Recorded and released independently, the record gained powerful word-of-mouth momentum internationally and its 2020 follow-up, To Let a Good Thing Die was similarly far reaching, a beautifully crafted tapestry of stories of human relationships, love and heartbreak, and existential musings. “The Most Beautiful Thing,” emerged from a special co-writing session with producer and pop luminary FINNEAS. Across the two albums, Bruno has amassed over 1.5 billion collective streams to date. Also, marking a triumphant return to the stage after his 2020 tour was canceled due to COVID, Bruno Major will also soon embark on an expansive Asian, North American, and European headlining tour. ................................. FULL TRANSCRIPT ................................. Hi, I'm Pascale Gibon. Welcome to episode 281 of The Everyday Life Balance Show. Thank you for tuning in. Our series on the principles taken from the Yes! to Love philosophy continues. And in this episode, I am going to cover the fifth principle taken from the Yes! to Love philosophy. I believe that suffering is due to our resistance to love.   When you say Yes! to Love or accept love wholeheartedly, you understand that you are a spiritual being having a human experience. The more you explore your spiritual nature through prayer and meditation, the more you deepen your love and let go of your resistance to love.   - What would your life be like if you surrendered to love completely?   It is necessary to surrender to love for a more profound life experience. Surrendering means understanding that everything in your life is in perfect divine order. Nothing occurs by chance. You have heard me say this before, difficulties or setbacks exist for your spiritual growth. When you surrender to love, you lead your life from a higher perspective.   Surrendering is necessary when you want to lead a peaceful life.   - What is the nature of your resistance to love?   Your resistance to love lies in how you choose suffering over happiness, turmoil or chaos over peace, anger over understanding, despair over hope, and disillusion over faith.   Moreover, you resist love when you put yourself down and reject your true divine nature. Is your self-talk positive or negative? You have not awakened to your true divine nature if it is negative most of the time.   We resist love when we behave in a way that is outside of our true divine nature of compassion, gratefulness, wealth, light, peace and understanding.  - What is the meaning of letting go of resistance? Letting go of resistance means accepting our true divine nature and living our lives accordingly as much as possible. When you say Yes! to Love, your character shines as your true divine nature.   Human beings' conditioning is to choose suffering over happiness to such an extent that bad news is more popular than good ones.  As you know, it is bad news that sells newspapers.   There is a sense of rigidity and struggle when we mention the word resistance.  The time to let go of the struggle is now.   It is time, in other words, to let go of the battle between your EGO (Edging God Out) and your true divine nature.  - What side do you want to lean on to live your best life?  To Let go of your resistance to Love is liberating.   To accept Love fully, you need to explore your true nature. Your true nature is the one that brings you great harmony.   In the personal development world, we say that success is doing things that others are unwilling to do.  Do not be afraid to come out of the herd and become a loving, giving, understanding, accepting being who surrenders to love and lives in the spirit of love.    Where there is chaos, choose peace Where there is disharmony, choose love Where there is suffering, choose happiness   Yes! to Love has a meaning that runs deep.  It sets you on a journey of inner peace and happiness.  Let go of the resistance to love!   I hope you enjoyed this episode.  Remember, now is your time to transform your life one step at a time.   It is necessary to lean on your true divine nature, surrender and say yes to love to live your best life.   I look forward to connecting with you next Monday.   Have a fantastic week, take good care and lots of love.  Got a question for Pascale? Click here to connect. Simon shares an important, valuable strategy that will only work THIS WEEK, so make sure to listen carefully and take action on this time-sensitive strategy as soon as you possibly can in order to maximise the rewards available. KEY TAKEAWAYS Many landlords are pulling out of the property market due to rising legislation, costs and interest rates. This is an increasing trend, but this week there is an enhanced opportunity... There is currently a surplus of student accommodation, and landlords are worried that they might not be able to fill the properties they've obtained in order to house students. When looking for potential properties to purchase from a landlord, look for properties with no lights on. This signifies that the property is unoccupied. A To-Let sign doesn't signify that there is an empty property. Most letting agents like to keep these signs visible to ensure full capacity at all times. BEST MOMENTS 'The longer you leave in taking action, the less effective this strategy is going to be' 'If there are no lights on, write down that property's address' 'You want to take action on this straight away' 'There are different types of tenants' VALUABLE RESOURCES To learn more about how you can quickly acquire property using Purchase Lease Options register for this no cost online training now at: www.PLOtraining.com Property Magic: How to Buy Property Using Other People's Time, Money and Experience by Simon Zutshi Find out about the Global PIN Meetings at www.globalpinmeeting.com To find your local pin meeting visit: www.PinMeeting.co.uk and use voucher code PODCAST to attend you first meeting as Simon's guest (instead of paying the normal £20). iphone:  http://bit.ly/pinAPP1 Android https://bit.ly/pinAPP2 Register at Mindset For Property at - www.mindsetforproperty.co.uk  ABOUT THE HOST Simon Zutshi, experienced investor, successful entrepreneur and best-selling author, is widely recognised as one of the top wealth creation strategists in the UK. In this episode, David speaks to Michelle Walker-Smith of Aqua Lettings. Michelle is a property investor and landlord who has a reputation for going the extra mile for her tenants. Michelle works hard to settle them into properties that work for them and often provides practical assistance to help them to get their lives on track. This approach results in settled tenants who enjoy a decent quality of life. Michelle shares details of her journey. Including how she had gone from being a highly risk-averse person to being able to seize every opportunity. An approach that has led to her managing a large property portfolio, while running her own letting agency and a successful mentoring business. She explains why she is not scared to give the right people a chance and rent to tenants others might say no to. Looking after your tenants properly benefits both parties. With good communication, most issues can be anticipated and solved amicably. To grow, you need to force yourself out of your comfort zone. Don't rent out a property that you would not be happy to live in yourself. All of us can easily become homeless. If you want to do something, you will make time. Structuring your day properly is essential.   BEST MOMENTS ‘We don't use To Let boards; it is all done by word of mouth.' ‘If you've got a colorful history, tell people about it and share your experience. ‘Go with your gut feeling. Casting my eyes on Mr. Wemmick as we went along, to see what he was like in the light of day, I found him to be a dry man, rather short in stature, with a square wooden face, whose expression seemed to have been imperfectly chipped out with a dull-edged chisel. There were some marks in it that might have been dimples, if the material had been softer and the instrument finer, but which, as it was, were only dints. The chisel had made three or four of these attempts at embellishment over his nose, but had given them up without an effort to smooth them off. I judged him to be a bachelor from the frayed condition of his linen, and he appeared to have sustained a good many bereavements; for he wore at least four mourning rings, besides a brooch representing a lady and a weeping willow at a tomb with an urn on it. I noticed, too, that several rings and seals hung at his watch-chain, as if he were quite laden with remembrances of departed friends. He had glittering eyes—small, keen, and black—and thin wide mottled lips. He had had them, to the best of my belief, from forty to fifty years.“So you were never in London before?” said Mr. Wemmick to me.“No,” said I.“I was new here once,” said Mr. Wemmick. “Rum to think of now!”“You are well acquainted with it now?”“Why, yes,” said Mr. Wemmick. “I know the moves of it.”“Is it a very wicked place?” I asked, more for the sake of saying something than for information.“You may get cheated, robbed, and murdered in London. But there are plenty of people anywhere, who'll do that for you.”“If there is bad blood between you and them,” said I, to soften it off a little.“O! I don't know about bad blood,” returned Mr. Wemmick; “there's not much bad blood about. They'll do it, if there's anything to be got by it.”“That makes it worse.”“You think so?” returned Mr. Wemmick. “Much about the same, I should say.”He wore his hat on the back of his head, and looked straight before him: walking in a self-contained way as if there were nothing in the streets to claim his attention. His mouth was such a post office of a mouth that he had a mechanical appearance of smiling. We had got to the top of Holborn Hill before I knew that it was merely a mechanical appearance, and that he was not smiling at all.“Do you know where Mr. Matthew Pocket lives?” I asked Mr. Wemmick.“Yes,” said he, nodding in the direction. “At Hammersmith, west of London.”“Is that far?”“Well! Say five miles.”“Do you know him?”“Why, you're a regular cross-examiner!” said Mr. Wemmick, looking at me with an approving air. “Yes, I know him. I know him!”There was an air of toleration or depreciation about his utterance of these words that rather depressed me; and I was still looking sideways at his block of a face in search of any encouraging note to the text, when he said here we were at Barnard's Inn. My depression was not alleviated by the announcement, for, I had supposed that establishment to be an hotel kept by Mr. Barnard, to which the Blue Boar in our town was a mere public house. Whereas I now found Barnard to be a disembodied spirit, or a fiction, and his inn the dingiest collection of shabby buildings ever squeezed together in a rank corner as a club for Tomcats. We entered this haven through a wicket-gate, and were disgorged by an introductory passage into a melancholy little square that looked to me like a flat burying-ground. I thought it had the most dismal trees in it, and the most dismal sparrows, and the most dismal cats, and the most dismal houses (in number half a dozen or so), that I had ever seen. I thought the windows of the sets of chambers into which those houses were divided were in every stage of dilapidated blind and curtain, crippled flowerpot, cracked glass, dusty decay, and miserable makeshift; while To Let, To Let, To Let, glared at me from empty rooms, as if no new wretches ever came there, and the vengeance of the soul of Barnard were being slowly appeased by the gradual suicide of the present occupants and their unholy interment under the gravel. A frowzy mourning of soot and smoke attired this forlorn creation of Barnard, and it had strewn ashes on its head, and was undergoing penance and humiliation as a mere dust-hole. Thus far my sense of sight; while dry rot and wet rot and all the silent rots that rot in neglected roof and cellar—rot of rat and mouse and bug and coaching-stables near at hand besides—addressed themselves faintly to my sense of smell, and moaned, “Try Barnard's Mixture.”So imperfect was this realization of the first of my great expectations, that I looked in dismay at Mr. Wemmick. “Ah!” said he, mistaking me; “the retirement reminds you of the country. So it does me.”He led me into a corner and conducted me up a flight of stairs—which appeared to me to be slowly collapsing into sawdust, so that one of those days the upper lodgers would look out at their doors and find themselves without the means of coming down—to a set of chambers on the top floor. Mr. Pocket, Jun., was painted on the door, and there was a label on the letter-box, “Return shortly.”“He hardly thought you'd come so soon,” Mr. Wemmick explained. “You don't want me any more?”“No, thank you,” said I.“As I keep the cash,” Mr. Wemmick observed, “we shall most likely meet pretty often. Good day.”“Good day.”I put out my hand, and Mr. Wemmick at first looked at it as if he thought I wanted something. Then he looked at me, and said, correcting himself—“To be sure! Yes. You're in the habit of shaking hands?”I was rather confused, thinking it must be out of the London fashion, but said yes.“I have got so out of it!” said Mr. Wemmick—“except at last. Very glad, I'm sure, to make your acquaintance. Good day!”When we had shaken hands and he was gone, I opened the staircase window and had nearly beheaded myself, for, the lines had rotted away, and it came down like the guillotine. Happily it was so quick that I had not put my head out. After this escape, I was content to take a foggy view of the Inn through the window's encrusting dirt, and to stand dolefully looking out, saying to myself that London was decidedly overrated.Mr. Pocket, Junior's, idea of shortly was not mine, for I had nearly maddened myself with looking out for half an hour, and had written my name with my finger several times in the dirt of every pane in the window, before I heard footsteps on the stairs. Gradually there arose before me the hat, head, neckcloth, waistcoat, trousers, boots, of a member of society of about my own standing. He had a paper bag under each arm and a pottle of strawberries in one hand, and was out of breath.“Mr. Pip?” said he.“Mr. Pocket?” said I.“Dear me!” he exclaimed. “I am extremely sorry; but I knew there was a coach from your part of the country at midday, and I thought you would come by that one. The fact is, I have been out on your account—not that that is any excuse—for I thought, coming from the country, you might like a little fruit after dinner, and I went to Covent Garden Market to get it good.”For a reason that I had, I felt as if my eyes would start out of my head. I acknowledged his attention incoherently, and began to think this was a dream.“Dear me!” said Mr. Pocket, Junior. “This door sticks so!”As he was fast making jam of his fruit by wrestling with the door while the paper bags were under his arms, I begged him to allow me to hold them. He relinquished them with an agreeable smile, and combated with the door as if it were a wild beast. It yielded so suddenly at last, that he staggered back upon me, and I staggered back upon the opposite door, and we both laughed. But still I felt as if my eyes must start out of my head, and as if this must be a dream.“Pray come in,” said Mr. Pocket, Junior. “Allow me to lead the way. I am rather bare here, but I hope you'll be able to make out tolerably well till Monday. My father thought you would get on more agreeably through tomorrow with me than with him, and might like to take a walk about London. I am sure I shall be very happy to show London to you. As to our table, you won't find that bad, I hope, for it will be supplied from our coffeehouse here, and (it is only right I should add) at your expense, such being Mr. Jaggers's directions. As to our lodging, it's not by any means splendid, because I have my own bread to earn, and my father hasn't anything to give me, and I shouldn't be willing to take it, if he had. This is our sitting room—just such chairs and tables and carpet and so forth, you see, as they could spare from home. You mustn't give me credit for the tablecloth and spoons and castors, because they come for you from the coffeehouse. This is my little bedroom; rather musty, but Barnard's is musty. This is your bedroom; the furniture's hired for the occasion, but I trust it will answer the purpose; if you should want anything, I'll go and fetch it. The chambers are retired, and we shall be alone together, but we shan't fight, I dare say. But dear me, I beg your pardon, you're holding the fruit all this time. Pray let me take these bags from you. I am quite ashamed.”As I stood opposite to Mr. Pocket, Junior, delivering him the bags, One, Two, I saw the starting appearance come into his own eyes that I knew to be in mine, and he said, falling back—“Lord bless me, you're the prowling boy!”“And you,” said I, “are the pale young gentleman!” This is a public episode. Conversations with the pulse of Life itself… with Beauty. They are gifts from Life to me and to you if it is for you to hear. As a play with the dimensions of Being, I invite you to listen as if you are speaking and all the same, as I am speaking. Without pressure to make sense but to let what wants to flow into any part of your being do so freely — to get LOST. Enjoy in your own way. Transcription Here I go Through the tunnel again I don't know who I'll be On the other end Let go, dissemble Crumble, I sigh How many times In this life Must I die To be The pheonix I must unknow I must get bare To Let me Grow There's only one flow That is mine So I get in Oh please, be Divine Bittersweet Surrender I give in to the abyss I'm reminded It's a given …I can't miss Links, Articles, and Resources: All Show Notes for This Episode

Ashish ------ 2.45 sums up everything in Chapter 2. Traigunya vishaya vedaah...nistraigunyo bhavorjuna. In the real sense, we cannot go beyond.....we are kind of warriors like Arjuna We have to understand the situation and play our roles beautifully & to the best of our abilities. Nirdwandva - the world is full of pairs of opposites - they will come and go. Just understand we have to be equanimous. Nityasatvasto - be established on the sattva side.....not possible unless we go to Himalayas? Again it is a kind of understanding we need to develop. Niryogakshema atmavaan - we don't have to go collecting things....no need for unnecessary desires. No need to go for the excesses; no need to preserve anything. Whatever is mentioned will be possible when we are established in Self. When we come into this world there is a "TO LET" board - Brahman wants to come in; THere is an 'I' who is squatting in the home --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/happilyoga/message

The cabal attempts something different with a combo pod on Veedu and To Let. The films serve as a lens to discuss our own experiences with real estate, the era we grew up through and the one we now live in. It's hard not to think of Chezhiyan's To Let and Balu Mahendra's Veedu as companion pieces. We hope you all have as much fun listening as we did discussing and reminscing. The music for the pod, is from the wonderful piece named "Do Anything" from Ilayaraaja's album "How to name it".
