DBL#25 Tony Sylvester (Fabric, Southern Records, The Dukes of Nothing, Turbonegro). This was very interesting conversation for me, a great window into the history of London post-hardcore band FABRIC. From the origins in 1992, recording the 'Body of Water' album, never finding their place or sound & ending with 'Lightbringer' in 1995. After this band ended he focused on his various positions within Southern distribution (Dischord, Touch and Go, Kranky, Southern Lord records etc.) for the rest of the 90s until joining THE DUKES OF NOTHING (featuring IRON MONKEY/ORANGE GOBLIN members). With this group he toured and released the album ' War and Wine' on his Eccentric Man imprint in 2002. Throughout the 2000s Tony was involved in the formation of the AURORA BOREALIS label with former FABRIC bandmate Andrew Hartwell. He also curated and coordinated the ambitious, decade long LATITUDES series of releases (CIRCLE, CHELSEA WOLFE, DANIEL HIGGS etc.) for the Southern label until his leaving in 2010. In 2011 he ended up becoming vocalist for the Norwegian 'deathpunk' group TURBONEGRO recording and touring throughout the 2010s. He currently focuses his time on men's fashion/lifestyle writing and his own AWMS clothing brand. Follow @destroybeforelistening Outro: THE DUKES OF NOTHING - Half Evil

Family is important, community is important, a congregation is important. All these aggregates  of union find a Technicolor uneasy home in the world of the song "Fambly" by Lungfish. These concepts merge and mutate with a yearning for transcendence, suited in armor for an unnamed war. The last track on Lungfish's debut closes the circuit and plants the seed for what will follow. Your host, Brian Gathy, who is today joined by renaissance man, Anthony Sylvester, will utilize both the linguistic telescope and microscope to understand and pontificate on Fambly.

Welcome to the 6th Round Retro Post-Fight Show, featuring YAMMA ‘Pitfighting 1’ from 2008. This is the show that digs into the archives and gives you a comprehensive review of classic MMA events, that span as far back as UFC 1. Join Eddie Mercado & Victor Rodriguez of Bloody Elbow as they relive this Pay-Per-View event this week, complete with results, analysis, and of course a few laughs. On April 11th, 2008, YAMMA Pit Fighting 1, “2 Masters Superfights”, an eleven-fight card, with only four finishes on a card full of decisions, went down from the infamous Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersy. This was a Pay-Per-View Cable event at the time, which advertised “The Return of ‘The Russian Bear’ Oleg Taktarov and a +8-Man Heavyweight Tournament to Crown the YAMMA Heavyweight Champion”. So, the main event that night showcased Heavyweights, Travis ‘Diesel’ Wiuff, who went undefeated to take the crown that night winning three bouts during the tournament against, Marcelo Donald Pereira, Ricco Rodriguez and winning the Championship via Decision in the main event, which ended up with him going up against Chris ‘The Crowbar’ Tuchscherer, who had made it to the bout by defeating Tony Sylvester and Alexey Oleinik that night. Also on the card, we had a Co-Main which featured Patrick Smith winning with one of the four finishes that night, decimating Eric ‘Butterbean’ Esch with a Submission via Punches and Elbows at just 3:17 into Round 1, and we were treated to one of our other finishes that night which showcased Oleg ‘The Russian Bear’ Taktarov in his return, which would turn out to actually be his last professional fight. He went up against Mark ‘The Smashing Machine’ Kerr and swiftly defeated him via a Kneebar Submission at just 1:55 into Round 1. Main Card: MAIN EVENT: Travis Wiuff DEF.
