你的想法,正在偷偷“写”你的人生剧本今天和大家分享一句直击灵魂的话,来自英国作家詹姆斯·艾伦:“As he thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he remains.”“你所思,即你所是;你持续所思,便持续所是。” New Wordsremains [rɪˈmeɪnz] v. He remains calm even in difficult situations. continues [kənˈtɪnjuː] v. She decided to continue learning English even if it was hard. Quote to learn for todayAs he thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he remains.——James Allen翻译你所思,即你所是;你持续所思,便持续所是。

A few quotes will give a good taste of the riches in this book:"A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.""Cherish your visions. Cherish your ideals. Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment, of these, if you but remain true to them your world will at last be built.""The soul attracts that which it secretly harbors, that which it loves, and also that which it fears. It reaches the height of its cherished aspirations. It falls to the level of its unchastened desires – and circumstances are the means by which the soul receives its own.""Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves, they therefore remain bound.""Every action and feeling is preceded by a thought.""Right thinking begins with the words we say to ourselves.""Circumstance does not make the man, it reveals him to himself.""You cannot travel within and stand still without.""As the physically weak man can make himself strong by careful and patient training, so the man of weak thoughts, can make them strong by exercising himself in right thinking.""Every man is where he is by the law of his being; the thoughts which he has built into his character have brought him there, and in the arrangement of his life there is no element of chance, but all is the result of a law which cannot err." - Summary by the authorRead by Phil ChenevertGenre(s): Self-HelpLanguage: EnglishKeyword(s): psychology

On a beautiful fall day in September 1916, 68-year-old Hannah Spielman went on a picnic with her new husband, 71-year-old James Allen, in the woods outside Grand Rapids, Michigan. She had met him through a newspaper advertisement, and the two were married just two days earlier - only hours after stepping off a train and meeting him face-to-face for the first time. But James Allen was not the man he claimed to be. His real name was Henry Scott Mausell, and his intentions were anything but honorable. Eleven days later, Hannah's decomposed body was discovered and the murder investigation began. So who was Henry Scott Mausell? A man with a deeply troubled past—and Hannah was likely not his first victim, but the last in a long line of murdered women. In "Bloodstained: Exploring Michigan's Darkest Murders Forgotten by Time", author Allie Seibert sheds light on this largely forgotten, and very likely, serial killer. Today's poem is My Mother's Love by James Allen Hall. The Slowdown is your daily poetry ritual. In this episode, Maggie writes… “Today's poem is a testament to a mother's love and courage and fierce protection. Maybe the real measure of a person is what they do for people — or creatures — who cannot do anything for them in return. Love is not transactional. Love, like poetry, is a gift economy.” Celebrate the power of poems with a gift to The Slowdown today. Every donation makes a difference: https://tinyurl.com/rjm4synp
