It's highly likely you either know who Jeff Hilliard is, or you're familiar with his work. And if you're still coming up short, your favorite people in the style community have worked alongside him. Jeff's one of the mainstays and brains behind many of the Limited Editions watches from Hodinkee, while he also moonlights as somewhat of a NYC fashion staple as one of the 3 J's in Blamo!'s JJJ Show. Together, he and I chat about style, his journey with clothes, what will never leave, as well as his approach to watch collecting. Lastly, even though he brings it up, Jeff happened to pen my favorite article in HODINKEE history called Finding My Father in His Watch. You've probably read it. We didn't go into it, and that's mainly because we ultimately decided to make this a two-part conversation, so without further ado…here's Part 1 with Jeff. Hi Queenies!!!This month we are Celebrating Black History Month. And we felt that it was appropriate to talk about the Tuskegee Airmen. They weren't just pioneers in aviation history—they were style icons who left a lasting impact on military fashion and menswear. From their iconic leather flight jackets to their sharply tailored uniforms, their look embodied resilience, strength, and sophistication. In this episode we explore how their legacy continues to inspire Black designers and brands. We also dive into the cultural significance of their Red Tails symbolism, and much more. Hope you find this episode and that it brings a bit of joy and hope during these trying times in our country. From our hearts to yours. ☺️
Sarah Deme's journey in the fashion world first began with a diploma in Fashion Merchandising from Fanshawe College, but that was just the start. Fueled by her passion, Sarah took her talents across the globe, snagging internships at a chic fashion house in Belgium and a bustling wholesale agency in New York City. Talk about a dream come true! From meticulously curating collections at Paris Fashion Week, Sarah's experiences have shaped her into the fashion powerhouse she is today. She then dived deep into the world of men's suits and furnishings at Nordstrom, showcasing her finesse and flair, then taking the lead at the fragrance counter, where she became a master at juggling products, managing a team, and tapping into customer preferences — all while curating the ultimate style experience. When a turn of events happened in Sarah's life, she had to pivot and found herself taking over the Conway's Menswear in downtown Perth from the former longtime owner - and suddenly she became the proud biz owner of this historic menswear store.
In today's episode, we sit down with Mohsin Ali, a talented menswear designer, to delve into his creative journey. Mohsin shares his insights on the fashion industry, discussing his design philosophy, sources of inspiration, and the impact of his unique vision on menswear. We also dive into the challenges of gaining recognition in an industry that demands so much, and explore the role culture and race play in shaping opportunities. What does the industry prioritize if it's not creativity? Tune in for an inspiring and candid conversation about creativity, style, and the realities of working in fashion.
Men's style is more than just clothing—it's confidence, perception, and the ultimate power move. This week, we're sitting down with Steve Springer, custom menswear expert and founder of BLU Fine Menswear, to dive into the world of tailored suits, luxury fashion, and how the right wardrobe can change everything.
Designers Jeanne Friot, Walter Van Beirendonck and Louis Gabriel Nouchi have taken a stand to defend gender-neutral fashion, calling for inclusion rather than exclusion. Meanwhile, Japanese labels Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto propose a simple, comfortable wardrobe, underpinned with poetry. All of these designers have opted for extraordinary fabrics to create their latest collections. FRANCE 24 takes a closer look.
On this episode of Behind the Mic: Powered by REVOLT Podcast Network, we sit down with NéAndré Broussard, founder of Black Menswear and host of The Check-In with Black Menswear Podcast. Menswear brand True Classic started out in 2019 with a singular focus: improving on the classic T-shirt. But in the last six years, the brand has scaled profitably and diversified its product categories to include activewear, denim and chinos, among other products. There's even womenswear on the horizon, as well as more physical stores opening throughout the year. Ben Yahalom, formerly president of the brand who took over as CEO last summer, stopped by the Glossy Podcast to talk about some of the ways True Classic is continuing to evolve, including in physical retail and through an ever-expanding marketing strategy that's not focused on just one channel.

I'm diving into the ongoing sea of menswear in Milan and Paris to select some standouts that yes, I'd wear. From Pharrell's latest at Louis Vuitton to Egonlab, an emerging French label we're loving right now. We're also talking about what's happening at Dior, going backstage at Prada, delving into the politics of LVMH dressing Ivanka Trump, and discussing if reporting on the new-again First Lady's historical fashion moments is inappropriate? Is covering it, celebrating it? Is ignoring it petty and biased? We're all trying to navigate these increasingly choppy waters while keeping our heads held high, and our hats tilted to as not to obscure half our face. Or maybe that's just me? Thanks for all the great questions. I appreciate it. I miss my dog.

How do dense, walkable cities influence what people wear? Derek Guy has some thoughts. Otherwise known as The Menswear Guy, Derek rose to fame on social media for his takes on men's fashion, but he also dips his toes into urbanism from time to time, arguing that the ecosystems that support quality craftsmanship and expert tailoring are strongest in places where it's easy to get around without a car. You ever wonder what happened to people wearing suits in the office? It seems like not that long ago when looking professional meant, at the very least, a well-ironed dress shirt and a nice pair of slacks—better make sure you're wearing a tie too. Nowadays let's just say attitudes have changed, for better or worse, about what's appropriate to wear in the workplace, and really for all occasions. In this episode we're going to explore some of the effects that this increased casualization has had on our business through one of our brand partners who's been directly impacted by it. Listen as I talk with Giorgio Canali, leader of the entire American market for the luxury clothing brand Canali and learn about how this 90-year-old family-run menswear company has adapted to survive the inevitable changes of the retail industry. Then, stick around after my conversation with Giorgio for a light dusting of holiday cheer, as I chat with two sisters who are loyal Nordstrom customers about their heartwarming 30+ year ongoing tradition of visiting Santa Claus right here at Store 1 in downtown Seattle. We look at the 1954 film that inspired Indiana Jones and it is....a drag. It's a boring film without a semblance of adventure. The menswear on the other hand is pretty good! It's easy to see why Spielberg saw this film and decided to copy Steele's look: a leather jacket, officer pinks, and a big fedora. There's also a few other cool looks too! It's just a shame the movie sucks. Part 2 of our coverage of Indiana Jones is here! It's clear that Indy isn't the only well dressed character in the franchise! There's a whole slew of great outfits to be found, like the ivy of his father Dr. Henry Jones Sr., the greaser look on his son Mutt (ripped from Marlon Brando), and of course Sallah's summer tailoring. We discuss all of the non-Indy Vintage Menswear found in this beloved franchise, ranging from his intrepid sidekicks to the relic seeking adversaries. Clothing is clearly a major reason behind why we love this series!
