Reed Diamond and Chuck Shute delve into the timeless appeal of Pixar movies, emphasizing the importance of a strong script. Reed shares his experiences working on "Drop," a thriller filmed in Ireland, highlighting the practical sets and collaborative environment. They also touch on the impact of tax incentives on film production, the evolution of live music experiences, and the importance of storytelling in acting, with anecdotes about working with notable actors and directors. Reed Diamond discusses his acting philosophy, emphasizing the importance of being in the moment and collaborating with fellow actors. He contrasts this with the competitive, cutthroat environment of "Homicide," where actors actively tried to undermine each other. Diamond admires strategic actors like Val Kilmer but prefers a more spontaneous, improvisational approach. He also reflects on the impact of social media and politics on society, advocating for authenticity, empathy, and local action. Diamond promotes his upcoming film "Drop," highlighting its intense, well-crafted narrative and the collaborative effort behind it.0:00:00 - Intro0:00:20 - Rankin/Bass, Claymation & Kids Movies 0:04:45 - Movies from 70s/80s, Anora & Test of Time 0:11:25 - New "Drop" Film, Script, Production, Casting & Location 0:22:10 - Cheaper to Film Outside of Los Angeles 0:25:22 - Statue of Liberty & New York Scene 0:30:45 - Music Scenes, Concerts & Punk Rock 0:38:28 - Working with Other Actors & Being Authentic 0:44:40 - Working on Homicide & Crazy Stories 0:51:03 - Smart Tricks, Being Difficult & Bad Behavior 0:55:40 - Val Kilmer & Cunning Strategy of Actors/Actresses 1:04:03 - Improvising Vs. In this episode, my guest is Dr. Jordan Peterson, Ph.D., psychologist, professor emeritus at the University of Toronto, best-selling author, and prominent online educator. We discuss the biology of human emotions and motivations, healthy versus destructive impulses, addictions, and generative drives. Topics include how brain states shape decision-making—for better or worse—and how religion and culture can guide us toward and through the best paths in life. We also explore the innate human drive to create "impact at a distance" and how it influences social interactions, educational pursuits, career choices, and relationships. Additional subjects include morality, social media, politics, the human appetite for drama, and the importance of embracing responsibility as a form of adventure to avoid wasting time. Listeners will gain practical knowledge from psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, and religion. Read the full show notes at hubermanlab.com. In this episode of Creedal, we discuss what the Incarnation reveals about human dignity and apply those lessons to the ongoing debate about assisted suicide in the UK. Zac provides a detailed overview of the proposed legislation on assisted suicide, arguing against it from both moral and policy perspectives, and highlighting the dangers of framing such issues in a misleading way. In this conversation, Zac discusses the complex issues surrounding assisted dying legislation, emphasizing the need for a nuanced understanding of dignity, autonomy, and the healthcare system. He critiques the slippery slope of assisted suicide laws, highlighting the potential for abuse and the importance of palliative care. Zac argues for the necessity of hope in end-of-life decisions and the ethical responsibilities of healthcare providers. Takeaways Mass hysteria reflects humanity's chronic existential anxiety. Advent serves as a reminder to place hope in Jesus. The incarnation elevates human dignity and opens possibilities for eternal life. Assisted suicide is currently being debated in the UK Parliament. The UK has a long-standing prohibition against assisted suicide since 1961. The recent second reading of the bill indicates majority support in Parliament. Assisted suicide raises significant moral and practical concerns. Public support for assisted dying is often framed misleadingly. Dignity in dying is a term used to garner support for assisted suicide. Assisted suicide is always a bad idea from both moral and policy standpoints. A lack of autonomy does not diminish dignity. Canada's assisted suicide statistics are alarming. Coercion can be implicit in decisions about assisted suicide. Palliative care should be prioritized over assisted suicide. Hope is essential in discussions about end-of-life care. Sound Bites "Our ultimate hope lies in Jesus Christ." "Mass hysteria is a feature of humanity." "Advent is a time to reassess our hope." "This is a giant sea change for the UK." "Assisted suicide is always a problem." "Assisted suicide is bad policy." "We have a broken healthcare system." "Autonomy does not change your dignity." From the minute we bring a tiny kitten into our homes, we know our days with them are numbered. Their lives are so much shorter than ours and someday, we will all face that moment of decision: should I keep treating my sick cat, or should I let him go? Is he happy or is he suffering? If kitty is very sick and we know he's at end of life, do we let nature take its course at home or do we help with euthanasia? How do we know when it's time to help? I was thrilled to have the opportunity to talk with Amy Lanksy, author of the amazing book, Impossible Cure: The Promise of Homeopathy. I found Amy's book to be incredibly powerful in understanding the potential of homeopathy, as well as understanding how it works and the history of the rise and fall of its use and popularity. Amy Lansky graduated from the University of Rochester in 1977 with degrees in mathematics and computer science, and she received her doctorate in computer science from Stanford University in 1983. After many years working at various Silicon Valley research institutions (including SRI International, NASA Ames Research Center, and three years as a consulting associate professor at Stanford), Lansky made an unusual career move: she became a student, writer and promoter of homeopathic medicine. This was prompted by the miraculous cure of her son's autism with homeopathy. Our conversation covers the foundational principles of homeopathy, its impact on health, and its applications beyond humans to plants and animals. We also discuss the history and challenges of homeopathy, its scientific basis, and its perception in modern medicine. We explore consciousness and synchronicity, inviting you to explore unconventional healing modalities. Visit https://www.amylansky.com to learn more about Amy's work and her upcoming book. This episode is an invitation to broaden your perspective on health and wellness, offering insights into a gentle yet radical form of treatment. 00:00 Introduction to the Podcast and Homeopathy 01:01 Guest Introduction: Amy Lansky 02:33 Amy Lansky's Journey into Homeopathy 04:34 The Miraculous Cure of Autism 13:15 Understanding Homeopathy 17:15 The Science Behind Homeopathy 23:35 Homeopathy in Practice 27:47 Historical Context and Challenges 32:10 The Rise of Homeopathy in the 70s 32:53 Personal Experiences with Homeopathy 33:53 Shifting Perspectives and New Beginnings 34:59 Exploring Active Consciousness 35:32 Theories on Higher Dimensionality 36:56 Synchronicities and Psychic Phenomena 40:20 Healing Modalities and Energy Bodies 42:34 The Power of Remedies and Therapies 48:17 Synchronicities and Life Decisions 54:28 Conclusion and Final Thoughts Read Amy's books: Impossible Cure: The Promise of Homeopathy https://amzn.to/3U5XOZI Active Consciousness: Awakening the Power Within https://amzn.to/4f4z3Ft

Would you agree that one of the hardest parts about being a mom of grown kids is watching your child struggle or face a major obstacle? In this episode of Life After Kids, we delve into the emotionally charged and challenging topic of what to do if your child is unhappy in college or any post-high school situation with compelling real-life stories and actionable advice. Because let's face it, a mother's happiness is closely linked to her child's well-being. Key Takeaways:Encourage Perseverance: Initially encourage children to fully commit to their current situation before contemplating a change.Root Cause Analysis: Determine if the unhappiness is due to the environment or personal challenges that will follow them.Comprehensive Evaluation: Guide children through thorough self-reflection and critical questioning to ensure their decisions are well-considered.Parental Support: Maintain an open line of communication and offer balanced support while allowing the child to make their own choices.Normalize Transitions: Understand that transferring schools or making significant changes is not a failure but a step toward finding the right path.Join us as we explore the foundational principle that while it's essential for children to stick out tough situations to build resilience, it's equally important to recognize when a change is necessary for their overall happiness and future success. Listen to today's episode in its entirety to learn more about parents handling their own reactions and societal pressures concerning their children's choices, as we advocate for a child-centered approach rather than focusing on external judgments.
