A lot has happened over the past month. The Magic drafted Tristan da Silva who looked great at Vegas Summer League. Orlando signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope from the Nuggets. We re-signed a lot of our own guys, but we sadly let Joe Ingles and Markelle Fultz go. Franz Wagner rightfully got a max rookie contract extension. With that said, Jeff Weltman has been very conservative this summer. We didn't address two of our 3 needs (we've got more shooting, but we don't have a point guard, and we don't have a rim running shot blocking center or a better rebounder). There is valid concern that there's a possibility the Magic take a step back. Other teams in the East got better, while it's not certain that Orlando did as well. It's likely, but it's not certain that the Magic are better. Once Boston kept everyone to try and repeat as champs, it became evident that Jeff Weltman was probably going to slow-play this coming 2024-2025 season and depend on internal growth again. But we have flaws, and after winning 47 games, opponents are going to be even more focused against the Magic moving forward. The patriarch of the Magic, Pat Williams passed. Words do not do justice what he meant to Orlando. All of that and more! #LetsGoMagic Warning: Adult Language

Gojo welcomes in old friend, Jason Fitz, to the show to fill in for his dad. What Fitz has been up to recently and he's got some pent up takes on the Wemby coverage. We recap the StuGotz-Jake Owen debacle, and GoJo basically does the same thing with Fitz. Big XII media day had a lot of realignment talk, but the pressure is on for one former powerhouse. This, That and the Third has someone getting paid, just not that much, a Publix, and repopulating the world after the Zombie Apocalypse. (1:46) - Jason Fitz fills in for Mike Sr. How Jason's approached his tenure at ESPN, and what he's been up to lately. (8:16) - Fitz thinks the Wemby coverage is out of hand after only 2 games. Vegas Summer League isn't even like NFL Preseason and the overreaction on both sides is too much. Patience will be key in San Antonio. (11:48) - A montage recapping the StuGotz-Jake Owen debacle. (15:00) - Being in the music and sports industry, Fitz expertly breaks down mistaking Jake Own for Aaron Rodgers. (19:24) - GoJo realizes he just pulled a StuGotz and hangs his head in shame. (23:17) - Sam Hartman is Mike's new QB, but his transfer to Notre Dame isn't the biggest story with him. It has to do with his rib removal and what he wants to do with it. (30:05) - Good ole' fashion College Football talk as Big XII media day was this week. Is Texas Back? And do they have all the pressure to win the conference this year the year before they head into the SEC next season. (38:55) - This, That, and the Third: Quinnen Williams gets his deal with the Jets, but Aaron Donald still is the top dog. Messi hits Miami and is just like us, and more baby announcements for the Third as Philip Rivers can finally field an offense. In Episode 1444, Sean Woodley goes solo to break down the Toronto Raptors' third game in Vegas Summer League that featured some really exciting stuff from Gradey Dick before discussing where new Raptors signee Dennis Schroder might fit into the Raptors' plans next season. Off the top, Sean digs into Dicks' 22-7-3 outing on 8/19 shooting in which his two-point scoring craft and genius off-ball movement were on full display. You'd like him to shoot better than 2/10 from three, but overall, the parts of his game outside of his deep shooting are probably more important to see on display right now than his shooting accuracy, which will surely come along. Next, Sean runs through his takeaways on Ron Harper Jr., Moses Brown and Markquis Nowell's performances against the Summer Pistons and ponders where each might fit into the plans of the Raptors or Raptors 905 this coming year. Lastly, Sean discusses Dennis Schroder's fit within the Raptors, breaks down why he probably should not be the starting point guard for the team as it's currently constructed, and why there's a chance for him to really shine in shooting-heavy second units as a table-setting point guard and organizer, all the help of some indicative numbers from his 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Lakers.Come hang out with all the other Locked On Raptor sickos in our growing listener community on Discord! https://discord.gg/bc2RqxMZSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BirddogsGo to birddogs.com/LOCKEDONNBA or enter promo code LOCKEDONNBA for a free Yeti style tumbler.
