This documentary takes you deep into the jungles, barrios, and killing fields that the media never shows. Former hitmen and cartel soldiers reveal how children are recruited, trained, and turned into killers — and how Mexico's Sinaloa Cartel now bankrolls Colombia's drug empire. Apologies for no episode last weekend! we just couldn't find the time to sit down and record together.Ned and James are back to discuss the loss away to Coventry, a defensive disaster class and not taking our chances killed us. Dominating in all stats but one saw the Hornets fall to a 3-1 defeat. The boys then turn their attention to Javi's first three games in charge, what have we learnt so far? The Spaniard seems to be getting the best out of some players (Vata and Bola) but there have been disappointing performances from others (Sissoko and Kayembe) and the team seems to be building in the right direction, a challenging first three sees the golden boys pick up 3 points and compete heavily against table toppers Coventry. After that, they discussed how quarterback Caleb Williams plans to address his accuracy issues with a sense of urgency. Later, they compared the Bears' 4-2 start this season to their 4-2 start in 2024, a season that was derailed by a 10-game losing streak for Chicago.

This week, we are on the ground at the World Bank-International Monetary Fund annual meetings, closely following the conversations that will shape the global development sector. As we note a reduced focus on climate change policy compared to previous years, we are tracking how the conversation is pivoting, with climate issues now being approached through an energy security angle. In addition to examining the World Bank's ongoing focus on global job creation, we highlight our exclusive on-the-sidelines interview at Devex Impact House with U.S. Rep. French Hill, a Republican from Arkansas, who shared insights on the Trump administration's “America First” approach to foreign assistance, providing a Republican perspective on U.S. engagement in global development. Record-breaking sums of money are pouring into American politics — from billionaires spending hundreds of millions to dark money groups hiding their donors. These sums have given wealthy interests outsized access and influence — while the Federal Election Commission (FEC), created to enforce campaign finance laws, has become unable to fulfill its mission. In this episode, host Simone Leeper speaks with former FEC Commissioner Ellen Weintraub, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Campaign Legal Center President Trevor Potter. Together, they trace how court rulings like Buckley v. Valeo, Citizens United v. FEC and SpeechNOW v. FEC opened the floodgates to unlimited political spending — and explore reforms that could restore transparency, strengthen the Federal Election Commission and curb the outsized role of big money in our democracy.Timestamps:(00:01) — Why was an FEC commissioner suddenly removed?(03:14) — How much money was spent in the 2024 election cycle?(07:00) — What campaign finance lessons came out of Watergate?(09:35) — What was the McCain-Feingold Act, and why did it matter?(10:45) — How did Citizens United and SpeechNow change U.S. elections?(13:41) — What is dark money and why is it dangerous?(15:18) — Why has the FEC failed to enforce campaign finance laws?(21:48) — How did Elon Musk become the biggest mega-donor in U.S. history?(24:14) — What government power did Musk gain after funding Trump?(30:03) — How has campaign finance evolved since Watergate?(33:41) — What reforms could reduce dark money and strengthen transparency?(40:57) — What must Congress do now to curb big money in politics? A Republican former Chairman of the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Trevor was general counsel to John McCain's 2000 and 2008 presidential campaigns and an adviser to the drafters of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. To many, he is perhaps best known for his recurring appearances on The Colbert Report as the lawyer for Stephen Colbert's super PAC, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, during the 2012 election, a program that won a Peabody Award for excellence in reporting on money in politics. The American Bar Association Journal has described Trevor as “hands-down one of the top lawyers in the country on the delicate intersection of politics, law and money.” He has provided testimony and written statements to Congress on federal election proposals, campaign finance regulation and, recently, the effects of the January 6th attack on our democracy. The Airborne Mafia: The Paratroopers Who Shaped America's Cold War Army (Cornell UP, 2025) explores how a small group of World War II airborne officers took control of the US Army after World War II. This powerful cadre cemented a unique airborne culture that had an unprecedented impact on the Cold War US Army and beyond. Robert F. Williams reveals the trials and tribulations this group of officers faced in order to bring about their vision. He spotlights the relationship between organizational culture, operational behavior, and institutional change in the United States Army during the Cold War, showing that as airborne officers ascended to the highest ranks of the army they transmitted their culture throughout their service in four major ways—civil-military relations, preparation for potential atomic combat, helicopter airmobility, and strategic response forces. Experiences of training and commanding airborne divisions in World War II led these men to hold sway in army doctrine by the mid-1950s. Dominating institutional thought and imparting their values, beliefs, and norms throughout the service they enjoyed a special privilege within the group culture. Williams demonstrates this impact, privilege, and power by focusing on the paratrooper triumvirate of Matthew Ridgway, Maxwell Taylor, and James Gavin and the lasting impression they made on how the US Army fought. The Airborne Mafia illuminates the power subcultures can have in changing their parent cultures over time, particularly one as set in its ways and as large as the US Army. With a deft touch, deep research, and an unwavering eye for the human stories behind organizational change, Williams helps explain the existence and importance of the paratrooper mystique that remains within the military still today. Former paratrooper Robert F. Williams analyzes masterfully the origins, development, and impact of a small but very influential group of airborne leaders in the decades following WWII. I witnessed this dynamic in both peace and war, and Williams captures the subject superbly. The Airborne Mafia is a must-read for soldiers, scholars, policymakers, and history buffs who want to learn how culture can so significantly influence an organization. Cutting through the outsized myths of one of the US Army's most storied units, Williams delivers a groundbreaking study of the airborne and its soldiers. An incredibly well-told tale of operational innovation, institutional leadership, and cultural persuasion, The Airborne Mafia will no doubt be a go-to book for those interested in an organizational history of the US armed forces during the Cold War era. The Airborne Mafia is a significant contribution to military history. Williams has worked carefully with culture as a driving force in this book. He reveals and fully appreciates how the actions and thoughts of World War II airborne generals shaped the institution into the 21st century. Williams uses the analytical lens of airborne—as a warfighting concept and as individuals dedicated to it—to examine how military institutions change over time. The Airborne Mafia does a phenomenal job articulating how this particular subculture and its vital undercurrents first coalesced and then unified into a powerful force. The One Thing You Must Nail When Starting Your Cash-Based PT Clinic: Your Niche In this episode, Doc Danny Matta explains the #1 decision that will make or break a new cash-based clinic: defining a clear, winnable niche. He shares real client stories (Rainmaker → Mastermind), how his own clinic launched by owning the CrossFit space, and a simple 3-part test to choose a niche that actually grows your business. Quick Ask Like the show? Share it with a clinician friend or on your IG stories and tag Danny—help PT Biz move closer to the goal of adding $1B in cash-based services to our profession. Episode Summary Core thesis: If you don't define your niche early, your business will stall. If you do, traction accelerates. Rainmaker → Mastermind arc: Rainmaker helps you go full-time; Mastermind helps you scale beyond yourself into a standalone space and team. Real example: A client's schedule exploded after she narrowed her audience, created content for them, and showed up where they congregate (workshops + the right Facebook groups). Danny's launch playbook: He chose CrossFit in Atlanta (credibility + interest), then expanded later to runners and entrepreneurs as the clinic's reputation grew. Mission + money: “No money, no mission.” You can do pro bono after your model supports itself. The 3-Box Niche Test Can you help them? Litmus test: if you only got paid after they achieved the outcome, would you take the bet? Do you like working with them? Authentic energy wins. If you don't enjoy the group, your marketing will feel forced—and flop. Can they afford you? Some populations (e.g., heavy Medicaid pediatrics) won't support a cash model. Match your service to a segment with willingness and ability to pay. Why Narrow First (Then Expand) Speed: Clear messaging and offers convert faster when you're “the go-to” for a specific problem in a specific community. Referrals: Specialists are easier to recommend than generalists. Ops simplicity: Marketing, workshops, and content focus around one avatar—less guesswork, more reps. Expansion later: Once you dominate one niche, broaden to adjacent groups with confidence and social proof. Field Notes & Examples CrossFit start: High credibility (MobilityWOD teaching, comp-team experience) + enthusiastic buyer segment (membership fees, gear, coaching) = fast traction. Entrepreneurs niche: Emerged organically via networks; recurring “continuity” check-ins became a valuable service. Runners: Military background created deep reps with run-related injuries—an easy adjacent expansion. Pro Tips You Can Use Today Audit your schedule: Which past patients did you love helping? Start there. Map the congregation points: List 5 IRL spaces (gyms, clubs, studios) and 5 digital spaces (FB groups, forums, local hashtags) your niche already uses. Publish niche-proof: Create 3 quick pieces: a “Start Here” guide, a case study, and a workshop outline tailored to one avatar. Use the bet test: Would you take the patient if you only got paid after the result? Plan for give-back later: Build profitability first, then add pro bono for populations you care about. Notable Quotes “Until I got really clear on who I wanted to work with, I struggled to get traction. When I defined my person, my schedule exploded.” “No money, no mission. A strong business lets you create the impact you want—including pro bono.” “The riches are in the niches. Specialize first; expand later.” Action Items Write a one-page niche brief: problem, desired outcome, objections, congregation points. Book 1–2 workshops this month with that niche's top local hubs. Record a 3-part content series answering the avatar's biggest pains. Set a 30-day focus rule: all marketing time goes to this one avatar. Programs Mentioned Clinical Rainmaker: Coaching + plan to get you full-time in your clinic. Mastermind: Scale beyond yourself into space, team, and systems. We talked about this prior to recording Hitting the record button on this podcast, but I want to learn from you. And our audience is going to be interested, Steven, to learn. What would you recommend? Seven figure sellers and those that are maybe experienced on Amazon? They have a mature brand, so to speak. What should they be focusing on? Amazon, especially knowing where, you know, kind of the puck is going in the future with Amazon where things are going. What strategies would you recommend sellers be implementing right now?Steven 00:00:40 Anything that generates traffic and improves conversion rates. Full stop. That's it. That's all you got to focus on those two basic parameters. Now I can break those two down one layer deeper. Yep. Under traffic there's PPC and SEO and under conversion there's merchandising and design. So those four pillars make up E-commerce on Amazon.Steven 00:01:01 And so as we continue to go down even a layer further. Content production is the most underrated, easiest thing to do. As an Amazon seller that is being abandoned. Now, obviously there's a lot of cardinal rules of Amazon. Like never go out of stock. That's cardinal rule number one. And cardinal rule number two is kind of like cardinal rule number one. Don't go out of stock. Right. And so like those are important concepts. But when we look down to the very basics of how to sell more products to more people, more often for more money, it comes back to those four pillars SEO, PPC, design and merchandising. And if you were ignoring 1 or 2, maybe even three of those protocols, you're in a world of hurt right now. You are losing to the Chinese who are hacking your accounts and your listings. You are losing to Amazon's policies, who are clamping down and making it harder to be on the platform. You are losing to your Are competitors who are in a death spiral with margin problems, but are still lowering their prices because consumer demand is down and inflation is like 27%, despite what the government claims.Steven 00:02:10 Whatever the government says, triple it. That's the true inflation rate. And so people's margins are shrinking. Policies are harder. Competition is steeper. Let's throw aggregators into the mix too. They're buying up all the brands and then, you know, really messing with the marketplace. And and so like all of these things make it so that Amazon is entering the maturity phase. So it was a seven figure Amazon seller. You need to get back down to the basics. Ignore all of the hacks. Do this two step URL. Everything will be fine. Yeah. Then your next hey do rebates and then all of a sudden you're you're banned right. Or or incentivized reviews. And then what happens. Right. All of these things are against policy and they are blackhat tactics. Stick to the basics SEO, PPC, design, merchandising. If you're trying to violate the basics by overcoming them with alternative options, you're going to reap alternative benefits. And those are not good benefits.Josh 00:03:11 That's a fantastic breakdown. I love that you, you know, gave us a layer deeper there.Josh 00:03:15 You know, you have the traffic and then the conversion. Then you gave us basically four kind of areas that seven figure sellers or anybody in general on Amazon should be focused on. So, Steven, I would love for us to dive in to each of these, you know, individually. Let's talk about SEO. What are some quick wins that we could do with SEO, PPC, you know, and then we can really dive into the merchandising and the design, because that's where I think a lot of that content strategy that you talked about is going to make a big impact. But let's start at SEO. What are some quick wins and things that we should be focused on?Steven 00:03:51 SEO has, in my opinion, a multiple phase approach. It's not SEO is not set it and forget it. SEO is not set it and forget it. SEO is in fact the opposite of that. SEO is. Let me optimize it continuously. Therefore, if you buy that paradigm, it'll shift how you make content.Ste...

Unstoppable: Anthony Robles on Defying the Odds and Dominating the Mat In this week's episode of the Team Never Quit Podcast, Marcus, Melanie, and Hunter welcome NCAA wrestling champion and three-time All-American Anthony Robles. Born with one leg, Anthony refused to let his circumstances define him, instead rewriting the rules of perseverance and grit to capture the 2011 NCAA Wrestling Championship for Arizona State University—earning the nickname “The Beast.” Anthony's story of resilience has inspired millions, chronicled in his autobiography Unstoppable and the upcoming feature film of the same name. Beyond the mat, he has built a powerful platform as a motivational speaker, Nike athlete, and member of President Obama's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition, as well as a respected NCAA wrestling analyst for ESPN and the Pac-12 Network. In this conversation, Anthony shares the mindset that propelled him to the top of collegiate wrestling as well as lessons on perseverance, faith, and unlocking hidden potential. Anthony Robles' journey is a testament to the phrase “never quit,” proving that true strength lies in heart and determination. Tune in for a powerful dose of inspiration from a man who embodies the spirit of resilience. In this episode you will hear: • My mom always told me growing up that God made me this way for a reason. (3:26) • Every single challenge I've faced was a puzzle. I could figure it out. There's nothing that I couldn't do. (3:35) • She [My mom] would say “You never let a challenge become an excuse to say I can't do it.” (6:15) • I had frustration and rage in me, but I was able to channel that, and use it for wrestling. (7:43) • If I quit now, I'm proving a lot of people right. (7:56) • I don't know where I'd be right now without those individuals who did support me. (12:19) • My goal in my junior year was nothing but state champion. (13:26) • I received a stack of letters from a group of 3rd graders who were shown the movie. They were writing me as their hero of the week. That, for me, opened my eyes to finally understand that I was wrestling for a bigger cause and a bigger purpose than just a bracket or a medal to put around my neck. (22:05) • I don't want to look back with regret thinking “Man, I wish I had done more.” (26:57) • I want my son to look up to me and say “I want to be like my dad one day.” (27:25) • [My mom] was the best coach I could have ever asked for in my life. (31:21) • My message is the word “Unstoppable”. It's the fact that we all wrestle with a challenge, (39:10) • If you're unchallenged, you're unchanged. (39:50) • [Marcus] “Man, you don't have a message – you ARE the message.” (40:07) • Greatness is not measured by trophies; it's not measured by getting first place. It's just knowing you gave your very best.
