This week we catch up with Natalie Newbold of the enchanting indie band WELL WISHER. If you're looking for something that's new but reminds you of an era gone, then WELL WISHER is for you. Natalie discusses what brought forth the creation of the band and what keeps driving it forward. Natalie's unvarnished opinion of music keeps me engaged throughout the show. Having had the great experience of watching a live performance of the band, I urge anyone and everyone to not miss a WELL WISHER show in your area, and that goes for this episode as well! True Well-Wisher -By Qasim Ali Shah.
Kapila Muni is one of the twelve leading authorities in the Vedic tradition. His system of metaphysics and spiritual knowledge—Sankhya—forms an important part of India's philosophical heritage. Teachings of Lord Kapila is based on a unique series of lectures presented in Mumbai, India, in the spring of 1974, by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. At the time of the Kapila lectures, Srila Prabhupada had just completed writing the section of the Srimad-Bhagavatam containing Kapila's teachings. The lectures explain the verses in even greater detail, and were later transcribed and edited to create this book. Complete with original Sanskrit, translations, and purports, Teachings of Lord Kapila discusses the significance of the guru, the psychology of consciousness, the characteristics of a self-realized person, the science of meditation, the nature of transcendental knowledge, and the process of ultimate liberation from material existence. Link to the book: sravanamdiaries.com/teachings-of-lord-kapila/
This talk explores the power of looking for the good in yourself and others. You'll learn about what these teaching say about cultivating a generous heart, how being a well-wisher to all can shift your consciousness, some of the challenges and pitfalls of this practice and a contemplation on one act of generosity you might take on.
sent $$$ this week to Elena & Alej Fire Recovery Fund.gofund.me/a6f12602 / instagram.com/p/CYiO_Virq9J“To give a brief recap, my best friend Alej and I were neighbors and lived in a 4-unit old victorian building. There was a fire that broke out at 4am Thursday morning and not a single fire detector went off. An unhoused man saw the flames and woke up the whole building. If he hadnt, my dog and I would have died in our sleep from the smoke filling my apartment. My neighbors and their pets would also have died or been severly injured. Our landlords have been extremely unclear and have left us unguided without many resources to navigate this situation. We frantically packed up our apartments in less than 24hrs, loaded up a uhaul and threw everything in a storage unit. My two neighbors had their apartments fully destroyed by the fire. Although mine and Alej apartments were not burned, every single thing we own has been damaged by smoke toxins and potentially asbestos. Our storage unit is filled with our belongings however most things will need to be replaced. Many things were left behind like our couches, dining tables, etc. We are grateful for the love and support of our loved ones, but we will need community support.”DOWNLOAD RECORDINGsubscribe to the podcast here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/5432fun(intro by omar)P.E.E. “Train Song” i win me over.Brin “bow at it or something” TaleaPeach Pyramid “Repeating Myself” Repeating MyselfIng “dust” self titledAlloys “Houses” Alloystwelve gardens “olympic gold” BEAN DAYAlien Nosejob “Maggie” Various Fads & Technological AchievementsNakata “everything was beautiful and nothing hurt” Bokanovsky’s ProcessSunshine Frisbee Laserbeam “Adult Memory Oww” Blackout CowboyBombshell Nightlight “Your Eyes” Bombshell Nightlight2nd Grade “Superglue” Wish You Were Here TourBlack Wine “Haunted” Black WineBarrie “Michigan” SinglesZula “Econolodge” New YearsWell Wisher “I Know Better” This is FineBB and the Blips “Lucky Country” Shame JobBoreen “Lovely” LovelyMilitant Girlfriend “Segue” Militant GirlfriendFauvely “Savannah” Tides

Did you know that the feeling of love is the same as having drugs? The feeling of euphoria one feels when one is in love, is a heady mix of different hormones in the body. There is a mix of Adrenaline, Oxytocin, and Dopamine. And these are the same hormones that are released when a substance user gets high. But what exactly is Love? How would you define it? And what is its association with a person's self-esteem? In this episode of the Habit Coach, Ashdin tries to answer these questions and help us with tips that can make us better lovers. This is a story from Panchatantra which teaches us a moral that there are very few people who are our true well wishers. In other words, we should not fall prey to false praise! A King who is very benevolent is taken advantage of by his subjects, One day, he realizes that something is wrong- and that he cannot have so many well wishers! After consulting with his minister, he comes up with a plan that helps him discover that none of his so called well wishers come to help him. You can learn more about this story by visiting www.gaatha.co/well-wisher
(transcription follows) If I even ever had a heart (what’s a heart, anyway?) it is now somewhere across the world (at least a piece of it) Carried by some smiling soul I hope it helps (the soul) I have little use for it (the heart) Usually it’s just a daily confusion about what to do with it So, since the morning she left (unlike a sad country song) She just made it light and bearable She left her hairbrush And took a heart-piece I’m wondering if this could be labeled “fair trade”… (I don’t know how they do business in her country-- And Lord knows I don’t want to be “culturally insensitive”) But it’s ok 'Don’t think twice, it’s alright' “Poetry” is just some funny way of putting words together So: I’ll speak as plain as I can And: It will be like one long comedy routine Like A.’s got my heart What’s got your heart? No, it’s who’s got my heart Who’s got your heart? Ah. . .but what’s a “heart” anyway? (We throw around that term like a baseball) Let’s move on now 'Don’t get me wrong, if I get distracted' Let me speak clearly Clear as an advertisement for an insurance company In these uncertain times, who’s got your heart? Or, as strong as a political slogan PIECES OF MY HEART OF THE WORLD UNITE! (ok, maybe that slogan needs some focus group work) Moving forward…(well, being carried forward) 'Aim straight towards those you love' As if moving toward (my old heart) Or maybe just creating (a new heart?) Or maybe, one day they will coincide, collide And make a new, improved hybrid heart In this world full of false hopes (Like a movie announcer: In a world, full of false hopes…) One man, tries to stay out of it all But wish the world, that I am in, and cannot help but be in Well (I wish it well) Well-Wisher...comingsoon! And I wish well the carrier of my heart (or the piece of my heart) This is just something for someone I met not so long ago Something for someone I hardly even know (Jeez--it’s sounding like a poem now) This something was bound to be interrupted But (so far) not by anyone else (Maybe I don’t know this Someone at all) Like How we like to think we know what we are voting for (Who we are voting for??) (Who are we voting for?) But we know we are shooting in the dark And we know we know we (humans) like shooting in the dark Just something for someone to know: Thanks for interrupting my life by taking some of my heart
