Welcome to the An Englishman and an Irishman Go To The Movies, the podcast that will throw popcorn, soft drinks and a shoe at you if you talk through the film. Join your hosts Ian Whittington and Sean Ferrick every Tuesday as they talk about all things m
We come to it at last, dear listener. It's true - Seán and Ian will look back on this time and, as one, they will scream.... WE WERE ON A BREAK! Follow the pod on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Follow Ian: @Whitsinned Follow Sean: @seanferrick

Justice for Bruno!!! This week the chaps visit Pixar's latest entry, the beautifully, if predictable, magical Encanto! And Ian is still convinced that the Amazing Spider-Man will be the new Doctor Who... or something. Follow Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick The pod: @EnglishIrishGTM Music from bensound.com and zedge.com
It's that time of the decade again where we get another entry in the meta-horror series that is Scream! And shock, Ian and Séan have differring opinions! In the news, the chaps talk about how Spider-man has influenced Doctor Who, and in the recommends Ian pushes childhood trauma with Zendaya's Euphoria. Honestly, the only way that description contains more buzzwords is if we also mention TikTok and Batman. So there we go! Follow Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick The pod: @EnglishIrishGTM Music from bensound.com and zedge.com
You would think after being starved of content for over a year a new Marvel epic would be a home run, and The Eternals certainly delivered; in as much as it's as long and dreary as a game of baseball. But it sure is pretty! In the news, Séan gives a horrified Scream upon discovering a gap in Ian's cinema knowledge and Ian recommends a much more dreary film that he inexplicably enjoyed! Follow Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick The pod: @EnglishIrishGTM Music from bensound.com and zedge.com
If you were told that Andrew Garfield would appear in a Spider-man film in 2021 and it WOULDN'T be his best performance of the year, you'd be forgiven for being bloody confused! But we speak the truth! This week the chaps serenade you with their thoughts on Lin-manuel Miranda's cinematic interpretation of the Oscar buzz-worthy tick... tick... BOOM! MAN, WE LOVE THIS FILM! Follow Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick The pod: @EnglishIrishGTM Music from bensound.com and zedge.com
2021 just had to give us one last steaming meta-turd as it disappeared into the distance, flipping us off as it goes. Yes, it's The Matrix Resurrections. In happier news, this week shows the return of the recommends segment, much to the joy of Ian and the 'oh I guess so' of Séan. Follow Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick the pod: @EnglishIrishGTM Music from bensound.com
Preachy Pod is Preachy! This week the chaps review the divisive Don't Look Up. Well, divisive if you don't understand how satire works. We kid, satirically. Ian suggests you watch the fantastically touching In and of Itself on Disney plus and Sean re-asserts his hatred of aliens. Follow Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick the pod: @EnglishIrishGTM Music from bensound.com
Another year down and Ian and Sean are here to talk about the highs (and considerable lows) that came with it. They talk about the stuff they loved like Tick, Tick...BOOM!, Spiderman: No Way Home, and Candyman, the stuff that could have done better like The Eternals, and The Matrix, and the stuff that should never show its knife-wielding masked-face again... you know the one. Follow Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick the pod: @EnglishIrishGTM Music from bensound.com
*SPOILERS!!!* HOLY S*IT HAVE YOU NOT SEEN THIS MOVIE??? Stop what you're doing. Now. On the way to the birth of your first child? Stop. Reading this on the way to work? Stop. Are you physically on fire?? Okay that one you should take care of, but after that you need to watch No Way Home and listen to this episode. Dammit, I can't believe you haven't seen this movie yet... (unless you have, then well done...)
You know what? There are WAY more films related to Spiderman than we thought. Why, when we started this series? There was only one web slinger. Now they come in goo form? While Seán storms off to find a drink, Ian is here to vamp his way through the pronunciation of Joel Kinnaman's name... follow the pod on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick Music by bensound.com
Groundhog Day is in full swing as the boys discuss Spiderman...again?! No, this time it's Tom Holland as we all dial up the excitement for Spider-Man: No Way Home! Well, everyone except Ian. This week, we attack/love the Amazing Spiderman and the Amazing Spiderman 2 aka WORST BOYFRIEND EVER. These reboots came out barely five years after the Raimi trilogy ended, and boy do we have opinions on them! Follow the pod on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Ian: @Whittsinned Sean: @seanferrick Music by Bensounds.com
Hey so did you know a new Spiderman film is coming out on December 17th? What better time than to revisit the older films to enjoy! This week, we take on the Raimi trilogy (yes, even part 3) to refresh us all about Green Goblin, Doc Ock and (sigh) Venom in this first pass at these villains. Our penultimate episode in our Daniel Craig series is unsurprisingly covering his penultimate film; Spectre. Which is surprisingly mundane! In the pod's first EVER in-person recording, Ian, Sean, and Albert assemble at Hotel Hogan to talk Bond, The DC fandome trailers, and of course a little of Star Trek. Ian and Sean quickly discover that even if you have all the same ingredients, sometimes the chili just doesn't work out as well the second time around! We conclude our Hannibal retrospective with the fantastic prequel Red Dragon. Ted Tally returns to screenwrite and this makes our Englishman extremely happy. Our Irishman is just happy that the food puns will stop. Sean and Ian also give a semi-brief overview of some Star Trek Day shenanigans and all the juicy trailers that we were spoiled with! Tell me, Clarice, have the lambs stopped screaming? In the first episode of our Hannibal Lector mini-series, we kick off with The Silence Of The Lambs, one of the greatest films of the last thirty years. Ian treats us to a dramatic reenactment of the film, while Seán is just generally dramatic! The English Irish Alien saga concludes this week with the IGN-backed 40th-anniversary shorts and, honestly, they're better than the previous two movies in every measurable way...except length. Unsurprisingly, Sean and Ian spend far too much time talking about Star Trek: Lower Decks, Iron Man 3, and the new movie from Lisa Joy: Reminiscence. GO AND WATCH THIS MOVIE IT DESERVES MORE THAN A PATHETIC $2MILLION AT THE BOX OFFICE!!!! Also, the Alien Shorts are very, very good. Go and watch them too! In 1997, a film was born that created such terror and loathing in the hearts of moviegoers that it would remain buried for nearly twenty-five years. That is, until Ian and Seán uncover the hidden plot to bring Lt. Ellen Ripley back from the dead, embryo and all... This podcast is the documentation of that horrific discovery. Follow the pod on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Ian: @Galactic_Dave Seán: @seanferrick www.anenglishmanandanirishman.wordpress.com Music by: bensound.com and zedge.com
To say Alien 3 had a problematic upbringing is like saying giving birth to an Alien chest-burster is "rather unpleasant". Join Ian and Sean as they crash-land this episode into a prison planet filled with born-again Christian prisoners and try to survive the offspring of a Xenomorph and a dog...or a bull. Follow the pod on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Ian: @Galactic_Dave Seán: @seanferrick www.anenglishmanandanirishman.wordpress.com Music by: bensound.com and zedge.com
If Ian and Seán come from eggs, then what's laying the eggs? For the second episode the Xenomorph series, it's the seminal Aliens, which gave us one of the greatest lines in cinema history... Hey Vasquez, ever been mistaken for a man? No. Have you? Grab your space boots and prepare for a quaking because Ian and Sean are taking on the Alien franchise....yes all of it...even those ones. The boys wake from cryosleep and stick their unprotected heads straight into the movie that burst from our chests and onto our screens in 1979. From male pregnancy metaphors to the origin of Nastromo to conspiracy theories dealing with why the Alien looks like metal piping, this pod is a biggy! In the news the chaps dissect the Dune trailer and Ian rather defensively recommends the Ice Road...I wonder why...? Follow the pod on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Ian: @Galactic_Dave Seán: @seanferrick www.anenglishmanandanirishman.wordpress.com Music by: bensound.com and zedge.com
Few movies have left the boys with as many nightmares as this one, though for very different reasons. Seán still has scars on his hand (don't ask) and Ian still remembers the angle his buddy's leg jutted out at. Our Neil Marshall mini-series comes to a close with one of the best British horror movies of the 21st century - The Descent Follow us on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Instagram: @AnEnglishmanAndAnIrishman www.anenglishmanandanirishman.wordpress.com Music: bensound.com
This week join Ian and Sean as they sink their teeth into Neil Marshall's take on the myth of the Lycanthropes. Ample Pertwee, gore aplenty, and dodgy one-liners make for a deadly camping trip for all! In the news, Ian is surprised by an escape room and in the What I Watched Last Week, Ian's passionately recommends No Sudden Move and Sean recommends...a werewolf movie...but not this werewolf movie. Follow us on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Instagram: @AnEnglishmanAndAnIrishman www.anenglishmanandanirishman.wordpress.com Music: bensound.com
Our three-part mini-series on the very unique filmography of Mr. Neil Marshall begins this week with our Englishman's favourite; Doomsday. Sorry, DOOMSDAY!!!!! A film all about life beyond the wall after a devasting virus wipes out the majority of the Scottish population (no, that's not why Ian loves it) and all that is left is Medieval Maclom Macdowell...and punks. In our last episode in our series on animation, Seán and Ian discuss Dreamworks' little project that starred Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and a lot of fart jokes. Now TWENTY years old, Shrek exploded onto the animated scene and kicked off a franchise that rivaled Disney. For a while. Oh yeah, it's all coming together. Ian's turn to share one of his favourite animated movies of all time: The Emperor's New Groove! The movie that almost never was, but ended up being a meta-commentary on ridiculously convenient animated tropes! You'll have to forgive Ian's brain this week as hayfever appears to have severed most of his neurons. In the news Ian and Sean discuss the newly titled Aquaman sequel and the recent release of "In the Heights". In the 'what we watched last week but aren't confident enough to recommend one way or the other' portion of the pod the chaps talk about Amazon's Invincible and Netflix's Superstore. Bible stories, with an English/Irish twist - what's not to love? There's music, there's Batman, there's Uncle Phil in the background. This film has it all! "I can show you a pod, an Englishman and the other one. A whole new series!" This month, Ian and Sean will take great joy in sharing with you their favorite animated movies. How will they have aged over the last TEN THOUSAND YEARS??? Aladdin is pure magic and is Ian's pick for his number one animated film of all time. Watch for the Irishman, he spits. In the news is a quick breakdown of the new trailer for Marvel's "Eternals". The 'Recommends' section is hereby redubbed the 'What we watched last week' segment and on its debut, Seán encourages you to watch 'A Quiet Place' and Ian reluctantly talks about Liam Neeson's latest movie for Amazon: Honest Thief. Save yourself some pain and just watch Aladdin again. Look at us looking out for you like that, you ain't never had a pod like me. Follow the pod on Twitter: @EnglishIrishGTM Ian: @Galactic_Dave Seán: @seanferrick www.anenglishmanandanirishman.wordpress.com Music by: bensound.com and zedge.com

And here it is, Episode 46, the listeners' choice! Men In Black is WAY better than both Seán and Ian remembered, making it the perfect movie to see out the blockbuster series! A little bit of swallowing some humble pie is done by Seán, while Ian couldn't care less! Stick around at the end to discover what's coming next for An Englishman And An Irishman Go To The Movies! This week the news is non-existant, Sean has nothing to recommend and Deep Impact is way more boring than we remember. You know what, just skip ahead to Episode 46. Okay maybe the film isn't THAT bad but in the name Halley's Comet does it have issues! Regardless, your Englishman, Ian Whittington, and your Irishman, Sean Ferrick, are here to pull apart exactly why you should watch Armageddon instead! Next week it's the listener's choice: MIB!! This week, we learn that the first half of Independence Day is not quite as action packed as we remembered, but the second half still bangs! This week Albert Hogan returns to help Ian and Sean bifurcate the 90's classic that is Armageddon; the Bay-iest movie to ever Michael Bay its way onto our screens. The science books are thrown out the airlock, Aerosmith is locked into the 8 Track player and most bizarrely of all; Bruce Willis has hair. With that being said, there's no denying this film is a huge amount of fun, so much so, that even I.a.n manages to see past its unapologetic ignorance of gravity and just enjoy for it the popcorn flick it is. In other news, despite not having paid a damn bit of attention to the Oscars; Ian, Sean and Albert decide to cover them anyway. Albert recommends two different DaVinci autobiographies and Ian recommends the first 60minutes of Netflix's Stowaway. Step into the EnglishIrishGTM time machine as we travel back to the decade that gave us the modern blockbuster as we know it; The 90's! Before Marvel and, let's face it, Disney dominated the screens this decade birthed some all-time classics, and over the next few weeks, Ian and Sean are here to cash in on that Nostalgia like a scientist that's stumbled on a Dinosaur biting mosquito in amber! First is one of the greatest family (?) movies ever made: Jurrasic Park. In what has got to be one of the stranger films that have been covered on the pod, Ian and Seán discuss Terry Gilliam's 1995 film Twelve Monkeys, which is most certainly NOT the TV show (Ian makes this point once or twice. Or thrice). Though not nearly as a brain-melting as Shane Carruth's Primer, it is certainly a movie that requires a pot of coffee and potentially, LSD, to make sense of. That said, Bruce Willis, Madeline Stowe and Brad Pitt deliver fantastic performances!
