Holidays are meant to be magical, but let's be honest – they can also be a whirlwind of stress, unmet expectations, and arguments over things like... ham on napkins. Ever found yourself mid-fight during the holiday season, wondering, “What are we even fighting about?” This episode is for you.As a therapist, I see this all the time in my sessions: couples bickering over seemingly small things that often hold deeper meaning. Today, I'm unpacking what's really behind those seemingly silly holiday fights and sharing practical ways to handle them with curiosity and connection. We'll explore why the conflict isn't really about the napkins or the ham, but what they represent – memories, traditions, or unmet needs. So, whether you're dealing with family chaos, mismatched holiday vibes, or just the general holiday rush, I've got you covered.Key Takeaways:Why holiday fights are rarely about what they seem – and how to figure out what's really going on.The importance of understanding your partner's holiday traditions and what they mean to them. How to approach disagreements with curiosity rather than conflict.Tips for validating your partner's feelings (even if you don't agree!).Why compromise is healthy – and how to do it without dismissing each other's needs. How to start meaningful conversations about celebrating holidays together. The power of acknowledging sadness when things don't go as planned.Resources:Well, Hello Anxiety Podcast: My conversation with Jodi Richardson where we chatted about mismatched holiday vibes, setting boundaries, and handling family chaos. Natasha Simons, chief A Christmas Prince correspondent for A Christmas Ham, is back to review the third installment of the A Christmas Prince saga from Netflix . We can’t remember any of the characters’ names, but they’re having a baby and that’s great. Merry Christmas! Technical note: We sincerely apologize for some sound quality issues (slight echo at times) that occurred while recording this episode.
It’s Christmas in Zambia with Mary Katharine Ham and Lyndsey Fifield as they review the new Netflix movie, Holiday in the Wild, starring Rob Lowe and Kristin Davis. Lyndsey is the chief Zambia Correspondent for A Christmas Ham, having gotten married there just a few short months ago to a hunky man with dreamy eyes (whose name is not Rob Lowe).

A real-deal movie critic joins us on “A Christmas Ham” this week to talk about the history and hypnotic effect of cheesy TV Christmas movies. Also, we somehow touch on the opioid crisis. I didn't even know there was a dark side to my movie obsession until I talked to John!
Mary Katharine Ham is back for another season of A Christmas Ham! Special Autumn Reeser Correspondent Kristen Soltis Anderson joins to discuss Hallmark Channel’s “Christmas Under the Stars,” starring Jesse Metcalf and Autumn Reeser. You’ll want to tune in to this one as MK and KSA discuss the finer points of… medical debt. This is not your typical Hallmark Christmas movie although it does check off most of the criteria for a classic: A Christmas deadline, a family reunion, an evil business empire threatening a small family business, a (sort of) precocious kid, and at least one Christmas carol. Weirdly, though, there was no snow ball fight. Future air dates on the Hallmark Channel (All times Eastern) Sunday December 8 6:00 PM Wednesday December 11 8:00 PM Saturday December 21 4:00 PM Tuesday December 24 9:30 PM Tuesday December 31 8:00 AM Sunday January 5 6:00 PM
Rodd discusses seeing a hot mess at the store.
Ham will be served up at Christmas feasts around the region, and "Barbecue Barrister" Matt Heermans files a very mouthwatering report on preparing and cooking the perfect pork. Acting U.S. attorney general Matthew Whitaker spoke in Nashville about the South's ongoing opioid crisis. And host Jon Rawl gives love to the UCF, UAB, Appalachian State and Troy football programs.

Read this episode description in a deep voice-over voice. Now imagine a quaint New England town nestled below a small mountain because it’s New England and not Colorado. There’s a church steeple with the bell tolling. Don’t forget the deep voice: This Christmas season. Cut to Mary Katharine Ham. She’s stepping across the road. She’s probably wearing, like, earmuffs or something because it’s snowing. Probably should have mentioned that at the beginning. Back to the epic voice over: One woman will dare to watch all the Christmas movies. Cut to Mary Katharine entering a movie theater. Joined by her friends. Each week, she’ll talk about her favorite movies in the best damn Christmas movie podcast ever made: A Christmas Ham with Mary Katharine Ham. It’s a play on words. Because Christmas ham is something you eat on Christmas, and Mary Katharine’s last name is Ham. Never mind; just subscribe!
We all get real banged up this episode. We talk about hangovers and the patents on zip off cargo pants.
This week the Kathys are all very far away from each other (tears all round), but manage to ring in to discuss feeling sexy in mens' clothes, snarfling digestives and how they coped with moving to NYC. Ep #001 - Pirates! An Adventure with Scientists with Tom and Felix of Wooden Overcoats In our first episode, we chat about Pirates! An Adventure with Scientists/ A Band of Misfits (depending on where in the world you live) as chosen by Tom of Wooden Overcoats! Tom had never seen it before and chose it to bury a grudge with a former co-worker who said that it was rubbish. We were also joined by Felix from Wooden overcoats, who had no Idea what a Christmas Ham was. The Aardman classic Pirates! (Insert your favourite ending here) tells the story of the “Pirate Captain” and his quest to become “Pirate of the Year” even though he gets beaten every year by better Pirates as voiced by Lenny Henry, Salma Hayek and Hugh Grant. Pirates! is one of the most densely packed films since Airplane!.. and they both have exclamation marks at the end. Scores The Episode #001 crew rated this highly with a 4.2/ 5 so a pretty high standard to right off the bat here at Flixwatcher. The “Recommendability" scores were super high and Pirates was let down if anything by the “Repeat Viewing Score" What do you guys think? Have you seen Pirates an Adventure with Misfits? In this series of four programmes broadcast over Christmas, Sheila Dillon explores the link between tradition and food. For Christmas Day, Sheila celebrates The Wild Boar Feast - an ancient Viking tradition which still lingers on in Britain (think of 'pigs in blankets') and inspires our love of the Christmas Ham. Historian Eleanor Barraclough introduces Sheila to a stuffed boar's head in the cellars of Queen's College, Oxford, and explains about how the boar was at the centre of mid-winter pagan fertility rituals. In Cumbria, Sheila meets a field of wild boar and talks to farmer Peter Gott about the fearsome intelligence of his huge beasts. Scandinavian chef Trine Hahnemann reveals the huge importance of the Christmas boar in Sweden, and how to make a meatball sandwich for Boxing Day. And chef Giorgio Locatelli explores the passion for wild boar across Italy. With music from The Boar's Head Carol, the oldest printed carol in English, and recipes from Trine Hahnemann and Giorgio Locatelli. Producer: Elizabeth Burke.
today on the show, we are joined by award winning storyteller Sam Feirstein. He tells us the story of a jewish guy's first encounter with a catholic christmas celebration. We discuss campaign promises, that we would like to see Donald Trump keep, and how the delicious oreo cookie has been politicized.
