This week… Kärel and Max are back home in the OG Stu and they're still gross. They got Andy on the line to recap everything from the 2025 NFL Draft. The picks, the event, and everything in between! Rightfully so, Andy is not happy with the Milwaukee Bucks, but he still loves Giannis. Kärel watched Rudy for the 557th time and finally realized it sucks. He broke down why it sucks and Andy has never been happier. Max and Kärel planned for the HUA True Crime collab. Finally, Kärel tried to spell a word, but he should have done some reconnaissance before facing off against The Dictionary. Laughs, beers, burps, swearing and so much more! Episode 186 was a good time! But before any of the nonsense, they saved the best for first, with the Beer of the Week! During the BOW the fellas rate and review a new beer. They discuss the history of the brewery and examine what's in the beer they're drinking. Then, they break down the beer by its drinkability, the probability they'd drink it again, its chugability, and the can's attractability. Send us a textEver thought about planting a church? Well, before you grab your Bible and shovel (metaphorically, of course), you might want to take a listen to this episode of the Christian AF Podcast. Jesse, Jen, and Evan unpack the "folly" of church planting, revealing why it's not always the holy grail it's cracked up to be.We dive into the messy realities: the burnout, the big promises of fast growth, and the cold, hard stats showing that more churches are closing than opening. As always, there's a healthy dose of sarcasm and plenty of tangents about beer, bands, and bad theology along the way. The truth? Maybe the key isn't planting more churches but focusing on discipleship and community in ways that actually last. So, before you quit your day job to start a mega-church, grab a drink and buckle up—this one's going to challenge what you thought you knew about church planting.EPISODE DRINKING NOTES:Oskar Blues Brewery – 10 FIDY Imperial StoutColorado, USAImperial Stout | 10.5% ABVScorched Earth Brewing Company – German HellesAlgonquin, ILHelles Lager | 4.7% ABVSupport the show––––––––LINKS AND SOCIAL MEDIAWebsite • Facebook • InstagramEmail: christianafpodcast@gmail.com

Episode 17 is here! It starts off somber with the remembrance of Hip-Hop artist Earl Simmons aka the dog himself, DMX. RIP Legend. Arie gets shot (with a vaccine) while diving into adulting. Todd has an exciting life update and shares his experience at a local beer/distillery. Speaking of brews, Todd gets the Oskar Blues while Arie finds Equilibrium. In the metal world, we cover crossovers and artists branching out into new mediums! We got a great bunch of songs to go along, which are featured in our “Songs of the Week” playlist! Last but not least, our featured band from Europe released a new single that’s sure to make you bounce off the walls with their tight riff and songwriting! Episode Breakdown: Catching up with the boys (:48) What we’re drinking/Beer news (9:57) Metal news (16:34) New music (30:16) Featured band (41:45) Featured Band: This week's episode features Eternal Change from Nothing Noble. Copenhagen-based progressive metalcore outfit NOTHING NOBLE provide neck-breaking, bouncy grooves that grow ever heavier and darker with every frustrated yell and growl from the gut of vocalist Cornelius Qvist. The quartet is now, after 3 years of intense writing, ready to release their unrelenting sophomore album "Modern Dismay".  "Modern Dismay" is an exhibition of excessively groovy and deliciously dissonant, disgusting and catchy choruses, added guest performances by prominent vocalists from the international metal scene (COUNTERPARTS, END, MØL). The album is to be released on August 6th through Prime Collective. What the track means to the band: We've been writing on this song since our debut album. We love it and we're so happy it became this good!  What the band is drinking: Beer of choice as a band: Classic Adam (drummer): IPA & sours Cornelius (vocalist): Kriek / sours / heavy stouts Lui (guitarist): Imperial stout Uzay (bassist): Some cherry beer he tried in Belgium. Bootstrap Brewing defies plague, sees excellent growth in 2020 Unprecedented Times, Social Distancing, The New Normal... we've got plenty of terrible phrases to describe the dumpster fire that has been 2020 and its impact on everything we do.  We've seen breweries and bars layoff staff (sometimes more than once) or close altogether.  Bootstrap Brewing isn't having it.  They're following all the protocols to be safe but, despite the challenges, they've seen excellent growth this year and they are gearing up for more. Brewery founders Leslie and Steve Kaczeus joined us this week to talk about that growth and what's driven it.  Unlike many newer breweries that rely on taproom sales Bootstrap has a strong wholesale presence and they've continued to grow that business amid Covid shutdowns.  In addition to their core beers like Insane Rush IPA they've also began offering seltzer as well as non-alcoholic brews under their Strapless line.  Steve explains that the Colorado lifestyle is very active and health conscious and more consumers are looking for beverage options that fit their lifestyle.  There's continued growth in gluten free offerings that they've filled with their seltzers and the athletic folks (and non-athletic folks, we don't judge) can also choose one of their Strapless non-alcoholic brews.  One of the Kaczeus's good friends and early mentors is Dale Katechis, founder of Oskar Blues Brewery.  Katechis recently invested in Bootstrap allowing them to acquire more equipment to support their growth, as well as some special equipment for experimental projects. Despite all our discussion of non-alcoholic and gluten free offerings, Steve gets all giddy talking about their big stouts.  They'll soon release ZEUS!, a 13.5% beast with snickerdoodle coffee. For more info on Bootstrap Brewing make sure to check out their Facebook page for all the selfies of Steve you can handle and stop by the taproom for a hug from Leslie... once the plague is over. Happy Monday, everyone! This week, Ryan and Alex try the very delectable Old Chub Scotch Ale by Oskar Blues Brewery. Being known as one of the first craft breweries to can their beer, Oskar Blues has been around since 1997. They began canning their craft beer in 2002 and in 2012, they marketed beer that came in resealable aluminum containers. In 2012, they also expanded and opened a secondary location in North Carolina. Oddly enough, Oskar Blues only packages their beers in cans and kegs, never bottles. They are considered to be the largest craft brewery by volume to avoid the usage of glass bottles. They focus largely on the whole can shtick due to cans holding the freshness of the beer better than the glass, as well as eliminating the harmful effects of light. Old Chub has semi-sweet flavors of cocoa and coffee, with a touch of smoke coming from a dash of beechwood-smoked malt added to the beer. We’ll also be talking with Award Winning Brewer and Beer Author, Randy Mosher. Randy’s been homebrewing for over 20 years and always likes to push the boundaries of brewing. He’s also the author of a many beer educational books, and we’re very honored and excited that he took a moment to chat with us. This week on FDB - we learn how not to bake cookies, discover the only thing that would keep us from being best friend’s with Nicholas Cage, educate ourselves with some beer terminology, and more! Now please kick back, and enjoy another sit down with Friends Drink Beer. Episode 93 - Sleep Par-ale-ysis As a horror movie podcast, we are certainly no strangers to horrifying imagery. On any given day you can find us watching things that other people only see in their nightmares. Things that would paralyze them with fear, figuratively speaking. Then there are the unfortunate souls for whom being paralyzed by their nightmares is all too real. Sleep paralysis is a strange, often misunderstood, affliction that affects more people than you may realize. Then there is the even more terrifying scenario of waking up to realize that your nightmare has bled into real life. You are trapped, you can't breathe, and realize that, like it or not, you are Jim's wife, and there is no escaping that hell. This week we tried to fight sleep with some Hotbox Coffee Porter from Oskar Blues Brewery, then we discussed a documentary and a film that both explore the strange phenomenon of sleep paralysis. Season 3, Episode 48 – This week, we’re drinking beer with our friend, Oskar. Oskar Blues Brewery is one of the earliest modern craft breweries to exclusively use cans for packaging their beer. Everything from lager to imperial stout goes into cans short, tall, and wide. Oskar Blues even invented the “Crowler”, a 32 ounce growler made out of an aluminum can. Not only are they ahead of their time with their packaging, they also make some killer beer. Oskar Blues Beers The seven beers on the show this week are but a small representation of what Oskar Blues brews. They recently debuted barrel-aged Ten Fidy in tall cans (which Jason coincidentally drank all to himself the night before the recording of this episode), as well as their new 19.2 ounce (holy moly!) “Stove Pipe” cans. Dale’s Pale Ale is by far the most ubiquitous of Oskar Blues’ offerings, followed by the deliciously contrasting imperial stout, Ten Fidy. Oskar Blues is a beer geek’s brewery–they can do it all, and they do it all quite well. It’s safe to assume that if you’ve never tried anything from them, you’ll probably be pretty happy with at least one beer they make when you do try something.  (…also, you can use their cans to smoke weed when you’re done drinking the beer!) This week Chas E and Mike Mitchell consult their buddy Jack about Session Beers and taste the Session IPA "Pinner Throwback IPA" from Oskar Blues Brewery. And to keep us honest, we also try a standard IPA - the "Trickster IPA" from Black Raven Brewing. We keep the session theme rolling with the Top 6 Session Musicians and a look at some famous Session Backup Vocalists. Also, we have some more original music from the hysterical Steve Goodie and our own Mike Mitchell, and a crazy Clint Eastwood rant.

On Wednesday, November 6th we went On Location at Mass Ave Pub to celebrate the Indiana launch of Oskar Blues Brewery. I was joined by several co-hosts and we talked about and tasted the entire lineup of beer including Mama's Little Yella Pils, Dale's Pale, Old Chub, Deviant Dale's, G'Knight and Ten Fidy.  It was an awesome night, and even though things got a little noisy later in the evening the conversations were great!  A surprise visit by Oskar Blues' Michigan Sales Rep, Zach Typinski, was an added bonus.  I strongly suggest you grab a can of each beer and taste along with us!
