“I'll be picking up bottles with you on New Year's Day.” In honor of the holidays, we're revisiting our 2023 Holidays episode. But…did we actually pick holiday songs? We start by defining what the “holiday season” even means in an attempt to answer the question. Jodi discusses “New Year's Day,” with the thesis that it's a song about the everyday, not necessarily the holidays. Jenn brings on the holiday melancholy with “champagne problems,” sparking a hot conversation about holiday engagements and the challenges of family gatherings during the holidays. And Maansi, naturally, shares “tis the damn season,” prompting a conversation about how we really feel about the holiday season and whether they “linger like bad perfume” for us. As we close 2025 here on Vinyl Community Podcasts, the last BONUS TRAX segment of the year features a spirited debate amongst the SURFACE NOISE crew about the greatest (and worst) Christmas/Holiday songs in existence. Dishes were smashed. Names were called. And we find Arnaldo is not a fan of Saint Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime"....like the opposite of big fan. Like hates it, hates it.

Send us a Text Message right now! “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus – The Jackson 5”Christmas is meant to be wholesome… until you look at the lyrics too closely. This week, the boys dig into I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus by The Jackson 5 — a song that somehow manages to be festive, creepy, and deeply unhinged all at once. Was Mum having an affair with Santa? Was Dad in the corner with a cuck cage? Why is Michael begging his brothers to “believe him”? And why does the music video feature Santa shadow-fucking behind a curtain? We break down the lyrics, the cursed history, the Catholic Church meltdown, the Jackson family chaos, the bizarre video, the weird production trivia, and the net worths that make absolutely no sense. All the story, all the filth, all the Christmas nightmares. If you love chaos, Christmas, and disturbing song analysis, this is your episode.DUBBY DUBBY is declaring WAR on big Energy! Ooooooooh we're getting festive in here! Lamorne and Hannah attempt to make a top 5 holiday tunes list, but instead relish in celebrating some of their favorite songs without the need to rank. Christmas music is supposed to bring joy, but every year we're reminded that some holiday songs are an absolute crime against humanity. This week on the FratChat Podcast, we break down the worst offenders ever inflicted on the season — from celebrity Christmas songs that never should've been recorded, to tracks that are either unintentionally hilarious or emotionally devastating for no reason. We argue over which songs are just bad, which ones are wildly uncomfortable, and which ones feel like they were written specifically to ruin your mood while you're trapped in a Target checkout line. Plus, we read emails from listeners, including a Thanksgiving family feud sparked by garlic mashed potatoes and a desperate request for the perfect excuse to call out of work. In news, Carlos comes to terms with getting older after John Cena's final WWE match, and in Not the Drag Queens, we once again call out a loud anti-drag crusader who turned out to be exactly what he claimed to be fighting against. Awful songs, listener chaos, pop culture heartbreak, and uncomfortable truths — all in one episode. Got a question, comment or topic for us to cover? Let us know! And…..what “pop artist” did I say I'd rather listen to Christmas Songs from than a heavy metal icon? Oh boy…..I might lose some subscribers for this one lol HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

Six-time Grammy winner, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer, and Kennedy Center honoree Amy Grant joins us to chat about the pursuit of honesty in songwriting, the stories behind some of her songs, and her catalog of modern day Christmas classics. PART ONEPaul and Scott chat about the idea of a "definitive" version of a Christmas song, discuss their favorites, debate about Christmas songs they love and hate, and delve into Scott's elementary school crush on Amy Grant. PART TWOOur in-depth interview with Amy GrantABOUT AMY GRANTPerhaps the most influential pioneer of the Contemporary Christian Music genre, Amy Grant released her first album while still in high school. Her fourth album, 1982's Age to Age, found unprecedented success with hit singles such as “Sing Your Praise to the Lord” and “El Shaddai.” Age to Age topped the Christian album chart for 85 weeks, earned Amy her first Grammy award, and became the first Christian album to be certified Platinum by the RIAA. Her 1984 album Straight Ahead spawned hits with Amy's original compositions “Thy Word” and “Angels,” and became the first Christian album to land on the Billboard 200. By the mid-1980s, she further crossed over to mainstream success when “Find a Way,” which she wrote with Michael W. Smith, hit the Top 40 on Billboard's pop chart. The following year, Amy reached the top of the pop chart with “The Next Time I Fall,” a duet with Peter Cetera. Her 1991 album Heart in Motion sold 5 million copies and spawned four Top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including the self-penned hits “Baby Baby” and “Every Heartbeat.” That same year, she enjoyed another Top 10 pop hit as a songwriter with Michael W. Smith's “Place in This World.” Amy continued to find mainstream success in the mid-1990s with singles such as “House of Love,” a duet with her now-husband Vince Gill, as well as the songs “Lucky One” and “Takes a Little Time,” which she wrote with Keith Thomas and Wayne Kirkpatrick, respectively. Starting with 1983's A Christmas Album, holiday music has been an important part of Amy Grant's artistry. She has since released the albums Home for Christmas, which was certified three-times Platinum; A Christmas to Remember; Tennessee Christmas; and The Animals' Christmas, a collaborative album with Art Garfunkel featuring songs by Jimmy Webb that explore the nativity story from the perspective of the animals. Amy's original songs “Tennessee Christmas” and “Breath of Heaven” have become modern day holiday standards. Her Christmas concerts, often featuring husband Vince Gill and longtime collaborator Michael W. Smith, have become a holiday tradition. To date, Amy has released twenty studio albums and has sold over 30 million records worldwide. Seventeen of her albums have reached #1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, more than any other artist in history. She has won 6 Grammy awards, 26 Dove awards, and has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Amy has received honorary doctorates from two universities, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2021. She was a recipient of the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievement in 2022.
