She works to emancipate and restore the alienated, endangered body. A conversation with Huang Junxiang , producer and director of various multimedia films. ____________________________ Huang Junxiang enjoys a good comedy and is grateful to be able to pursue a career in filmmaking. His short film, Give Yourself a Chance, was awarded at the Very Short International Festival 2012. His second, I Will Die screened at Singapore International Film Festival 2014. His most recent effort is Piece of Meat (2019), co-directed with Jerrold Chong, which enjoyed its premiere at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes and subsequently travelled to Annecy and Busan. Together with Jerrold, they co-directed this year's NDP music video, "The Road Ahead". He has also served as the multimedia producer for SEA Games 2015, NDP 2016, and the Singapore Bicentennial 2019. As a producer at Eric Khoo's Zhao Wei Films, he has produced a number of feature films including In The Room (Toronto 2016), Apprentice (Un Certain Regard 2016), Ramen Teh (Berlin Culinary Cinema 2018), Buffalo Boys (Fantasia Film Festival 2018) and Tiong Bahru Social Club (Busan International Film Festival 2020). He has also served as producer for both HBO Asia anthology series Folklore (2018) and Food Lore (2019) which has travelled to festivals including Toronto, Sitges and Fantastic Fest.

Upon his return to Singapore, the singer ushered in his comic reign as AZN SEN$ATION with parodic raps like ‘Suprememan'. The artist later re-debuted as jaye with 2019 Halloween bop ‘TOMORROW' about previous suicidal ideations generating 1.2 Million Youtube hits. Valentine's Day sophomore ballad ‘DEJAVU' followed suit, rallying 1 Million Youtube views. Reprised by popular demand in 2020, ‘TOMORROW' spawned 'Tomorrow the Game' - a realistic PC Halloween horror game that was a visual spectacle to up to 1 million viewers. His deconstructed single 'ADHD' went further to enact a 4-part interactive ‘Choose Your Own Adventure' Music Video inspired by BlackMirror's Bandersnatch which garnered over 500K views. The experimental track was further gamified by a Super Mario-esque IG filter game solidifying the artist's mandate for game creation. The brooding romantic's latest release ‘Stay up till I sleep' characteristically conveys the unspoken tension between his insomnia and married life. Painfully authentic and sinfully catchy, his sonic outcome is an astringent-flavoured Alt-Pop that is altogether reminiscent of Twenty One Pilots, Blackbear and Khalid. Influenced by the visual language prevalent within the cultures of punk, underground music and of being a Singaporean, Malay of Baweanese descent, he utilises personal iconographies along with a cast of characters that he has been developing over the years and applies them to various visual narratives inspired by his own observations on current affairs and his immediate environment. Exhibitions include the Koganecho Art Bazaar (Yokohama, Japan, 2018), the 1st Kuala Lumpur Biennale (2017), Secret Archipelago (Paris, France 2015) and the Singapore Biennale (2013).
