Mainstream Jewish communal leaders have, for ages, been talking about "skewing younger" with programming. But none of them would dare come near Sinners' Shabbat, a sexy, raunchy burlesque show, ripe with bondage ropes, leather skirts, cleavage and kippot and queer couples. Helmed by Tova Sterling, a chef and influencer in New York City, the events were born out of her feeling not at home in conventional Jewish spaces—and finding a community on the fringes. Meanwhile, not far away, in Manhattan, Chabad debuted Fins and Scales, a pay-what-you-can kosher omakase dining experience at a Chabad house in Greenwich Village. Diners enjoyed lightly charred madai, sea bream and fresh sashimi, happy to take part in a luxurious fine-dining experience if all it cost was a donation and signing up to Chabad's mailing list. So what's going on here? Are these sorts of ultra-modern shticks the future of Judaism, or just passing gimmicks? And are they even "Jewish" events if they're totally divorced from religion and tradition? The hosts of Not in Heaven share their thoughts and disagreements. Plus, the hosts recap the tumultuous trauma felt by hundreds of Canadian teenagers on a recent March of the Living trip: they silently recreated the death march from Aushewitz to Birkenau in a walk led by former hostages and survivors of Oct. 7; they felt the heat from forest fires that decimated swaths of the hills surrounding Jerusalem; and on their way out, in Ben Gurion airport, they witnessed a Houthi missile explode on a runway right outside the building. Have the emotional intensity of these trips gone too far? Are we traumatizing future generations in the hopes of having an impact? Our rabbinic hosts weigh in. Helmed by superstar producer Brendan O'Brien, Is finds MMJ at their anthemic, psychedelic best.We caught up with Carl Broemel for a Rig Rundown back in 2015, but on this year's tour, PG's John Bohlinger checked in with all three axemen—Jim James, Broemel, and bassist Tom Blankenship—to hear about their road rigs. History and politics have long found their way onto the Broadway stage, from Hamilton and 1776 to Parade and Fiorello! But in 1989, one musical took a wildly unconventional approach—bringing the infamous Senator Joseph McCarthy to life in Senator Joe. Helmed by Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar director Tom O'Horgan, this audacious and bizarre production featured everything from Brechtian satire to a musical number inside McCarthy's alcohol-ravaged liver. Yet, after only three Broadway previews, the show collapsed under the weight of its own chaos, ending in scandal when its producer was arrested in a phone booth. How did Senator Joe go so wrong? And why did anyone think a musical about McCarthyism would work in the first place? This episode dives into the missteps, mayhem, and misguided ambition that turned a political firebrand into one of Broadway's most infamous flops. Theme Music created by Blake Stadnik. Here at Failure to Franchise, we don't like making fun of actors. So trust us when we say our new theme, “Mark WalhTURD and the Yucky Bunch,” dedicated to four failed franchise starters from Boston rapper-turned-actor Mark Wahlberg, is, uh, a tribute. First up, 2001's Planet of the Apes remake, which was meant to be Wahlberg's first foray into mega-blockbuster leading man territory. Helmed by beloved Hollywood weirdo Tim Burton, and featuring incredible makeup effects by Rick Baker, the film seemed like a can't-miss attempt to reboot the classic sci-fi franchise. Instead, it left the series in need of another reboot attempt a decade later. What went wrong? We're here to figure it out! In this Film Ireland podcast, Gemma Creagh talks to Vera Drew, Director & Co-Writer of ‘The People's Joker, which has a special Trans Image/Trans Experience (TITE) Film Festival preview screening at the Light House Cinema on 14th February 2025. The People's Joker is a DIY parody film and hilarious reimagining of the classic autobiographical coming-of-age story follows an unconfident, closeted trans girl as she moves to Gotham City to make it big as a comedian by joining the cast of UCB Live – a government-sanctioned late night sketch show in a world where comedy has been outlawed. As mainstream success eludes our heroine, leading her to unite with a ragtag team of rejects, misfits, and a certain love interest named Mister J, “Joker the Harlequin” is born again as a confident (and psychotic) joker on a collision course with the city's fascist caped crusader. Vats of feminizing chemicals, sexy cartoon interludes, scarecrow psychiatrists, CGI Lorne Michaels, and psychedelic gender dysphoria all play supporting roles. Helmed by writer/director/editor/star Vera Drew and using her own life experiences as a basis for the film, The People's Joker is a deeply personal journey that's as much documentary as it is parody. Jason Lovins - Pilgrim Road -Episode 570 - Voices In My Head (The Rick Lee James Podcast) JASON LOVINS BAND CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH PILGRIM ROAD NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Celebrating two decades of music and ministry in 2025, the Jason Lovins Band is poised to commemorate the milestone year with Pilgrim Road (New Day Digital Distribution), out January 17. Featuring 11 tracks produced by the Kentucky-based group and showcasing their signature sound—a unique tapestry of gospel, country and pop influences—Pilgrim Road is hallmarked by guest appearances from bluegrass hitmakers Chosen Road and longtime NewSong frontman and acclaimed singer/songwriter Russ Lee. The title cut, a modern hymn written by Noah Baker and Jason Lovins, encapsulates the album's theme as well as the overarching mission of the Jason Lovins Band. “Not only does ‘Pilgrim Road' capture the heart of what we want to say with this record—sharing the Gospel and reflecting on the journey from Genesis to Revelation—but naming the album Pilgrim Road felt right as we look back on 20 years together and see God's faithfulness every step of the way," says Lovins. "Even after all this time, it feels like we're just getting started, and we're excited for the road ahead.” Further highlights of Pilgrim Road include the project's latest single, “Hide My Soul,” a joyful worship anthem penned by Daniel Doss, Emma Feldman, Jonathan Jackson and Jonathan Turner, along with the band's two guest collaborations: a bluesy bluegrass take on the 1890 Gospel classic “Life's Railway To Heaven” featuring Chosen Road, and the impassioned pop anthem “Constant” with vocal contributions from Russ Lee. In addition, Pilgrim Road continues the Jason Lovins Band's longstanding tradition of showcasing a Spanish-language selection on each album. “En La Cruz,” a rendition of the beloved hymn “At The Cross,” is a nod to group member Rodney Mora's heritage and serves as a poignant reminder of the Gospel's power to transcend languages and cultures. “Our pianist Rodney Mora was born and raised in Venezuela and grew up in a Christian home, which is not the norm there,” explains Lovins. “I remember the first time we sang a song together, me in English and Rodney in Spanish, it really opened my eyes to just how big God is. He has no barriers, and He understands and hears us both.” “Hymns have shaped our lives and faith, and we feel blessed to carry them forward,” Lovins adds. “I grew up surrounded by these songs that have stood the test of time and tell great stories of the faith. Hymns have a way of bridging and connecting generations, so we want to keep putting our own twist on them.” ABOUT THE JASON LOVINS BAND With a unique fusion of country, gospel and worship styles anchored in Jason Lovins' Appalachian heritage, the Jason Lovins Band has been delivering modern arrangements of sacred hymns alongside their own acclaimed originals since 2005. Lovins' personal testimony propels the band's mission and purpose, and they have released 11 full-length recordings to date, including the three-volume Songs From Sunday series and two Christmas projects. Helmed by Lovins and comprised of members Rodney Mora, Aaron Crozier and Jonathan Nicholson, the Jason Lovins Band has opened for Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Crowder and Point of Grace, among others. In addition, the group has appeared at Billy Graham Crusades and multiple Southern Baptist state conventions, and they perform at numerous churches and conferences around the country each year. Jason Lovins' life is a testament to the faithfulness of God—the only Father he has ever known. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, to a 15-year-old girl who was assaulted and impregnated by a stranger as she walked home from the community swimming pool, Lovins was raised by his mother and grandmother in a devout household of faith. As a child he traveled throughout Appalachia with his grandmother's Gospel singing group, but it was his first encounter with contemporary Christian music as a teenager that changed the trajectory of his life. Immediately captivated by the modern worship he heard at a youth group meeting, Lovins was inspired to embark on a lifelong mission of ministry-driven music. Early in his career, while performing with his college band in a local church, Lovins felt compelled to tell his birth story for the first time on stage. Deeply moved by his testimony, the church's pastor made Lovins promise he would continue to share the pivotal account each time he performed. Since that day, Lovins' testimony has been a cornerstone of the Jason Lovins Band's ministry platform. For further information, visit jasonlovins.com or turningpointpr.com. Gor is a planet, a counter Earth, that sits in orbit at the opposite side of the Sun to the Earth we inhabit. And on the Vernal Equinox, this marks the New Year for most Gorean cities. This is the kind of sci-fi, fantasy sword and sorcery that Chris despises, and Dave loves. So it's only right that Dave's pick to see us into the new year would be Gor! But there might be a wildcard in this 1987 loose adaptation which has the review for this much maligned Canon picture going a different way. The making of Gor (1987) was a quintessential Cannon Films production—big ambitions, tiny budget, and just a dash of chaos. Helmed by Fritz Kiersch (the bloke behind Children of the Corn), the film aimed to bring John Norman's Gorseries to life. Now, Norman's books are… let's say “divisive,” so the filmmakers wisely ditched the dodgy bits and went all-in on the swords, sandals, and overly shiny chest plates. Shot in South Africa, the production made the most of the sweeping landscapes, though "epic fantasy" occasionally veered into "amateur cosplay." Still, it had that scrappy Cannon charm, the kind of vibe that screams, "This'll look brilliant on VHS!" As for the cast, it was a mixed bag. Urbano Barberini and Rebecca Ferratti led the charge, while Oliver Reed—bless him—turned up to chew scenery like it owed him money. Rumor has it Reed's off-camera antics were just as entertaining as what made it into the final cut. The costumes looked like a sale at the world's least practical armour shop, and the effects… well, let's just say they tried. Despite the shoestring budget and dodgy execution, Gor carved out a weird little niche for itself among fantasy film enthusiasts, probably because it's so delightfully bonkers. It's the sort of film you stick on late at night with a few mates and some questionable snacks, knowing full well you're in for some glorious nonsense. If you enjoy the show we have a Patreon, so become a supporter. www.patreon.com/thevhsstrikesback Plot Summary: Professor Tarl Cabot is a mild-mannered academic who is accidentally transported to the planet Gor, a savage world ruled by warlords and filled with brutal battles. Upon arrival, Tarl discovers that he's seen as a prophesied hero destined to free the oppressed people from the tyranny of the evil Sarm and his minions. Armed with a mysterious magical ring and a newfound knack for sword fighting, Tarl joins forces with a group of rebels, including the brave warrior Talena, to overthrow Sarm's regime. Along the way, Tarl must embrace his inner warrior, navigate treacherous alliances, and decide if he's willing to leave his old life behind to become the hero Gor desperately needs. thevhsstrikesback@gmail.com https://linktr.ee/vhsstrikesback --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thevhsstrikesback/support

Next up, Sean Connery sheds his 007 persona as a recently released prisoner looking for a big pay day by targeting a ritzy Fifth Avenue apartment complex in The Anderson Tapes. Channeling a proper club night, our premiere for today arrives in the form of Polish producer, Rethe and his offering on Inner Tension's forthcoming VA, Resonating Pulse. Helmed by a fellow countryman, Blazej Malinowskis' personal imprint has featured a variety of familiar names, from Svreca to Oscar Mulero. With each release feeling impactful and tastefully done. Momentum Shift is a raucous affair, there's no doubt about that. The groove is established immediately, the bass line snakes along as punchy kicks and shakers give a playful atmosphere. What's missing… ah, the smoke and one or two hands in the air. Don't get too secure though tempos change, and a well done break down lends the track a nice twist and identity. Momentum Shift, and the entirety of the Resonating Impulse release will be out on November 7th. @r_ethe @innertension www.instagram.com/rethe_music/ www.instagram.com/inner_tension/ Write up by @huedj Follow us on social media: @itsdelayed linktr.ee/delayed www.itsdelayed.com www.facebook.com/itsdelayed www.instagram.com/_____delayed www.youtube.com/@_____delayed
London based Middle Eastern progressive doom band Lowen have released their sophomore album, ‘Do Not Go to War with The Demons of Mazandaran' via Church Road Records. One of the many fables of the Shahnameh, the Persian book of Kings, concerns the folly of rulers who jealously extend their empires despite the warnings of their own people. It is during this tale that he is warned not to go to war with the demons of Mazandaran. This chapter of the book forms the concept of the album. Helmed by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Nina Saeidi, who was born into exile from Iran in the UK as there, playing metal is illegal and women singing unaccompanied risk execution. This cruel oppression has served to inspire Lowen to create glorious intense progressive doom. Mixing fantastical stories with deep dives into history and shining a light on important modern issues across six epic listens. The epitome of focus, Lowen have packed out each track with an implausible amount of instrumental detail and ensured that Nina Saeidi's immense range is always in play and on show. Sixty years, this might have very well been released as THE first franchise blockbuster. It was the third entry in the James Bond franchise (adapted from a series of best-selling spy novels authored by Ian Fleming) which had been rapidly growing in popularity around the world. Helmed by then up-and-coming British director Guy Hamilton, it featured the return of James Bond, Agent 007 of the British Secret Service, once again played by the late great Sir Sean Connery. This time around, he's on a unique mission mostly set within the United States, trying to investigate and eventually take down a plot by the titular Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frobe) to potentially take control of the worldwide gold market....and it just gets crazier from there with henchmen named Odd Job, mysterious women named Pussy Galore, and a spanking new Aston Martin DB5 featuring lots of cool new gadgets. :) Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a Text Message.https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
Im going to read from the press release this time coz its a good'n The simpatico sophomore album by the unstoppably prolific Alex Paterson and fellow Orb original Andy Falconer is an epic sail through the sky at night. Helmed by gentle spirits with warmth in their hearts, ‘SETI' feels cold and dark, yet also glowing and welcoming. Aboard a cosy candlelit spacecraft, the duo experience the cosmos as somewhere overwhelmingly infinite, yet reassuring and friendly. A sort of ‘ambient unplugged', it's full of acoustic instruments and nostalgic samples, folding space between the old world, and places where no man has gone before. Dr Paterson speaks “The first LP had a great reception and sold so well I couldn't even get a copy myself. Andy is brilliant at making ambient music, and working with him is always rewarding. We understand each other's brains – it's easy and organic - so doing another made total sense.” He adds, “SETI stands for Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence, but it's also something you sit on, to chill out, which is why the album contains a Three Piece Suite. This record is musical ambience, which is what we like to make, rather than drone ambience, which there's a lot of these days.” That last point struck me as it describes the sensations I associate with the music of the Orb which is a sort of maximal ambient rush. It's a sound that whizzes me right back to my dreamy youth tbh when these guys were so responsible for making the soundtrack that accompanied me through my last years at school. It was a time when I needed music to blow my mind. When I was told I could speak to an original member of the orb I was so curious to ask Andy how it was all made back in those days. We get into that right at the end of this chat as well as a walk down memory lane and up the present. It was great to catch up with Andy in Portugal. He's had quite the life! Let's get into it

Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scar Giver attempts to elevate its predecessor's groundwork into a sprawling space saga in this follow-up to the ambitious yet divisive first instalment. Helmed once again by a director known for his love of grand visual feasts, the movie aims to stitch new threads into the expansive tapestry of its galaxy. However, as the Born to Watch team discovered, even the most visually stunning feasts can leave one feeling unexpectedly underwhelmed.Whitey and Damo are back in the hot seat, sparing no one the task of diving deep into this cinematic cosmos. Let's break down what The Scar Giver offers, perhaps reading between the lines where necessary.Cinematography and VisualsVisually, the movie is undeniably a spectacle. The cinematography captures sweeping landscapes of alien worlds with the kind of jaw-dropping detail that nearly commands its own dialogue. Every frame is meticulously crafted, with vibrant colours and extravagant effects that are the hallmark of big-budget sci-fi. There's an undeniable prowess in how the film crafts its battle scenes, filled with fleets of ships and flashing lasers that could easily make any highlight reel. But as the saying goes, "Not all that glitters is gold." The reliance on visual effects occasionally overwhelms the narrative, overshadowing moments that might have benefited from subtlety and a more grounded approach. For a saga that wants to carve its mark as a new epic, the film often feels like it's floating through its own spectacle, untethered by the gravity of its storytelling.Storytelling and PaceThe storyline of The Scar Giver picks up with a promise of deeper intrigue and expanded lore. However, the plot often stumbles under the weight of its own ambitions. The pacing feels uneven, with pivotal scenes rushing by, while less critical moments drag on, testing the patience of even the most devoted viewers. The script attempts to weave multiple storylines into a coherent whole but sometimes feels like a patchwork that's fraying at the edges.Characters are introduced with fanfare and then relegated to the backgrounds of their own stories, leaving us to wonder if the editing room left too much character development on the cutting floor. This ambitious sequel could have used its run time to tighten its narrative focus rather than expanding it into oblivion.Character DevelopmentSpeaking of characters, the development—or lack thereof—stands out starkly. Our heroes and villains are back with more screen time, but their evolution feels stunted. Emotional arcs that should resonate end up feeling contrived, as if the script is checking off boxes rather than exploring the depths of these interstellar travellers. It's a space opera that sometimes forgets the opera, focusing heavily on the spectacle and neglecting the powerful, character-driven moments that could give the narrative its much-needed heart.Cultural and Historical SignificanceThe Scar Giver positions itself as a culturally significant piece, aiming to reflect and challenge current societal themes. The attempt is clear, but the execution is muddled, often feeling like a superficial nod rather than a thoughtful exploration. The film flirts with themes of rebellion, freedom, and the cost of war, yet these heavy concepts seem to float in the vacuum of space, never fully landing.Relevance to Pop CultureAs for its place in pop culture, this sequel will undoubtedly be a topic of discussion, not just for its cinematic qualities but for the conversations it attempts to spark. There's a sense that this film wants to be more than just entertainment; it wants to be a moment. However, whether it achieves this status or becomes a footnote in the annals of sci-fi, it remains to be seen.Final ThoughtsRebel Moon Part 2: The Scar Giver strives for greatness but often finds itself lost among the stars. For fans of the genre, it offers a visual dessert that's hard to resist. However, for those looking for a meal with substance, the film might leave you hungry for more.Whitey and Damo took one for the team again, sitting through this cosmic journey so that they could bring their unique insights to the table—or in this case, the podcast. While the film's ambitions are as high as its budget, the execution may not be everyone's cup of tea, or in this case, everyone's type of stardust. In our upcoming podcast episode, we'll peel back the layers of The Scar Giver, perhaps uncovering some hidden gems that could redeem its sprawling narrative. Join us as we explore whether this galactic endeavour soars to the new heights it aims for or if it's destined to be eclipsed by its own grand shadow. "Thrust it! Thrust it!”Before the sequins and controversy hit the screen, Showgirls was a script that sparked excitement for its bold take on the glitz and grunge of Las Vegas life. Helmed by Paul Verhoeven and penned by Joe Eszterhas, the duo behind the provocative hit Basic Instinct, expectations were high for this journey into the world of Vegas showgirls. Yet, the resulting film would divide audiences and critics, becoming a cult classic for some and a cautionary tale of excess for others. The backdrop was set for a film that would be discussed and dissected for years to come. Welcome back to The Literary Life Podcast and the final episode in our series on Robert Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped. This week, Angelina, Cindy, and Thomas open with a discussion of the difference between Jacobites and Whigs and how that contrast is played out in this story. Angelina and Cindy compare the characters of David Balfour and Jim Hawkins of Treasure Island and how they display honor. Angelina addresses moralizing stories versus making a moral observation of a story. Thomas gives a summary of the last several chapters of Kidnapped and makes some comment on the lawyer Rankeillor. They highlight more of the epic romance elements found in this book, as well. Check out our Upcoming Events page to see the schedule for the rest of the summer and into fall. A crowd of artists and aesthetes have declared in this age that art is immoral; but the fact plainly and obviously remains that there never was a time in the history of the world when art was so moral. If there be a fault in the popular criticism of the day, it is that it is far too much so. G. K. Chesterton, The Soul of Wit Man is by nature so dissatisfied an animal that he must always be acclaiming something that he fondly believes to be new. Charles Petrie, The Four Georges But though the thing is to be criticised (and admired) strictly as an adventure story, there are sidelights of interest about it considered as a historical novel. It carries on a rather curiously balanced critical attitude, partly inherited from the attitude of Sir Walter Scott, the paradox of being intellectually on the side of the Whigs and morally on the side of the Jacobites. G. K. Chesterton, Robert Louis Stevenson Scotland's Winter by Edwin Muir Now the ice lays its smooth claws on the sill, The sun looks from the hill Helmed in his winter casket, And sweeps his arctic sword across the sky. The water at the mill Sounds more hoarse and dull. The miller's daughter walking by With frozen fingers soldered to her basket Seems to be knocking Upon a hundred leagues of floor With her light heels, and mocking Percy and Douglas dead, And Bruce on his burial bed, Where he lies white as may With wars and leprosy, And all the kings before This land was kingless, And all the singers before This land was songless, This land that with its dead and living waits the Judgement Day. But they, the powerless dead, Listening can hear no more Than a hard tapping on the floor A little overhead Of common heels that do not know Whence they come or where they go And are content With their poor frozen life and shallow banishment. On this episode, Harry LaBollita returns to discuss Netflix's hit series Break Point. Helmed by the same team behind F1: Drive to Survive, Break Point chronicles the world's up-and-coming tennis stars as they prepare and compete on the international professional tennis circuit, including all four Grand Slams and ATP and WTP tournaments. In Season 1, the cast of characters includes Nick Kyrgios (a "bad boy" from the Land Down Under), Matteo Berrettini (an Italian stallion with high ambitions and an equally successful girlfriend, Ajla Tomljanovic) Taylor Fritz (a So-Cal native who overcomes injury to out Nadal in the Indian Wells championship), Paula Badosa (a Spanish model dealing with mental health issues), Ons Jabeur (a Tunisian standout representing an entire continent), and Felix Auger-Aliassime (a Montreal-based wunderkind who just might be the next great). We focus on a few primary themes: namely, the emergence of mental health crises and the perils of neuroses in the sport. This leads us into a fascinating discussion about the inherent pressures of tennis, the grueling attrition of playing year-round on the pro circuit, the attrition of mental fortitude due to the overwhelming speed of the game, the isolated vulnerability of playing a singles tournament, and the relativistic medley of psychological approaches and philosophies deployed by the various teams in hopes of curbing negative thoughts before they spiral into destructive self-sabotage on the court. We also debate who we think might be the next poster child for tennis as the Big Three (Nadal, Federer, Djokovic) begin to retire or suffer from the law of diminishing returns with age. Enjoy!
One of the very few known labels emerging from South Korea and going from strength to strength recently, Oslated has become a consistent outlet for quality deep techno and ambient-leaning electronic music. Helmed by Jongmin Lee, the label, and its sublabel Huinali keep a busy calendar between them, push a variety of artists both new and known in our small circles. Oslated, also keep a great guest mix series going to help fuel the collective inspiration. Segue, Inhmost, Doltz, Earthen Sea, Javier Maramon, Saphileaum, Polygonia, and many more artists have graced the catalogs of Oslated and Huinali in recent years, and the label's various artist compilations expand even further into great artist territory. Needless to say, with such a rich and growing catalog, it's a perfect time to use the isolatedmix series to highlight some of the great music across the two labels along with a few questions for label owner Jongmin Lee…ASIP: How did Oslated begin and what was the inspiration to start a label?Oslated: The Oslated project is a natural byproduct of my beliefs since 2016. It includes the label's international scope based on my past experiences. The label's early mission statement was to feature unknown talented young DJs and producers, but if there were things that inspired me, it would be based on my various experiences in music for the past 20 years - since I was in my late teens. This still stands today. You have a great ear for music and I much of your output. What is your general approach to the label's releases?First of all, I really appreciate the good feedback & support from many followers & friends including you. I want to give various answers to this question, but to put it simply, I believe in my ears, brain, and heart. What happens after that, whether good or not, I come to a conclusion after the release. I think this way is better. As my belief is that almost all releases on the label were a good experience for me. Therefore, I still believe in my choices, and I still love all the artists I've released on the label. Kóshkil [OSP003] by Vanoni How would you describe the difference between Oslated and the sublabel, Huinali to the listener? When I founded the Huinali Recordings sublabel, I wanted to differentiate myself from the parent label, Oslated. However, while out running one day, I thought it was not something I'm absolutely set on differentiating. It's classified according to the artist's wishes, and this is always in progress. So I don't know. The same question was previously asked on a webzine, and my answer to this is still valid: "To be honest, the genre division for our both labels didn't matter from quite a while ago. What I think iss important now, is the relationship between the concept of an entire album and the corresponding time with the artist."What are your most and least favorite parts of running a label? My favorite part is, of course, when I see an artist get a very good response to a release and develop further musically. I would say the hardest part is the interpersonal relationships. I get the most stress from this part, but I put the most effort into directing and consulting myself to minimize this and to be flexible with one another. This is probably the common denominator of all label & platform owners...isn't it? Harbour Cove Dubs [HNP001] by Segue You just pressed your first vinyl record for Huinali, with Segue, who I admire. What made you decide to move into vinyl for this release?First, I don't want to say that a lot of physical releases are the goal. Anyway, Oslated had already released 3 vinyl records, and at some point the sub-label Huinali planned to do a vinyl release as well, from the day it was founded. And yes, I tried to do this naturally. Before being a label owner I was a DJ and a collector of various music. I honestly don't want to differentiate between digital and physical and I just want to release GOOD MUSIC. The reason I release physically as well is simply because my followers wish.If you could have released any favorite/past album in the world on your label, what would it be and why?I myself had such a wishful plan, and I'm the one who insists on “Oldies, but goodies” too. But as time passed, I realized something myself. Now, my simple argument for this question is, "The past is beautiful when it is the past."You had S-Pill make the mix, can you tell us a bit about him and why you chose him to create the mix?Seojun oh aka S-Pill is my close brother, and he holds the title of the only official DJ artist on the label. I guarantee that he is the best DJ in Korea and proud of him. This is the only reason. What can you tell us about the future of Oslated and Huinali? I don't want to elaborate on this question, but love Paul Valery's quotes here. "Nothing is complete unless you put it in final shape.". "The trouble with our times is that the future is not what it used to be."~ astrangelyisolatedplace · isolatedmix 121 - Oslated & Huinali Showcase (Mixed by S-Pill) Listen on Soundcloud or the ASIP Podcast.Download MP3Tracklist:1. Mario Carbone, the acclaimed chef and restaurateur, believes that if you're going to do something, you should strive to be the best at it. That's – quite literally – the secret to his sauce. The co-founder of globally renowned restaurant company Major Food Group, Carbone is a native New Yorker who learned his craft under the tutelage of some of the city's best known and admired chefs, including Daniel Boulud and Wylie Dufresne. In 2011, Carbone and business partners Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick launched Major Food Group, which currently operates 27 upscale eateries across the world, anchored by his namesake Carbone restaurants. Two years ago, Major Food Group launched Carbone Fine Food, a brand created to “bring the taste of the iconic, beloved Carbone dining experience” into consumers' homes. Helmed by CPG veteran and former Rao's Specialty Foods CEO Eric Skae, the company markets a nine-SKU line of pasta sauces that has rapidly become one of most widely distributed and best selling within the premium sauce category. In this episode, Carbone and Skae spoke about their shared vision and the growth strategy for Carbone Fine Food, how they attempt to incorporate the flair and panache of Carbone restaurants into the brand, who they identify as the products' target consumer, their thoughtful pricing and promotional strategy and why they are cautious about new product development. Show notes: 0:46: Interview: Mario Carbone, Co-Founder & Eric Skae, CEO, Carbone Fine Food – Taste Radio editor Ray Latif asked Carbone about his decision to relocate from New York to Miami, how his vision for Carbone Fine Food compares with that of former colleague David Chang and his Momofuku Goods brand and how timing was involved in the rollout of the sauces. Carbone and Skae also discussed the company's pricing strategy and target consumer and how each fits into retail planning, why quality of ingredients is the brand's key point of differentiation and how they consider innovation and brand extensions.
