I had this thought for awhile about taking a social media Detox... Like a 6 month to a year offline. I feel overwhelmed with all this constant consumption. Like why the f*** did I spend this much time on social media. Why do we post 'content'? We are spending so much time 'creating content' posting boomerangs, stories, spending hours watching other people's lives and wonder why we are miserable, anxious, constantly comparing ourselves to filters, going out of the way to make videos for views likes and followers. I have been thinking about a Detox and have been on the fence. I will still post episodes (obvi) Would you do a Detox? Would you like to join me? I feel like social media is making me lazy with goals and building current relationships and creating new ones. If you feel the same tag me @emily.a.walsh. Buy me a coffee ☕

Have you ever been in a fun house? I'd like to look at life as one big fun house; we are holding an invisible sponge like mirror and absorb things in our home, environment, what we're taught and make some of it our own. People will project their 'mirror' and reflect back their beliefs onto others. You don't have to make someone's reality and beliefs as your own. Just because it didn't work out for someone else, doesn't mean it won't work out for you. Don't claim what's not yours. ❤️ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/in-search-of-her/support

You think you have it bad well at least? You think you have it bad, I have been through worse than you In this episode, I dive into the saying, “At least”, "You think you have it bad?" "Your life isn't that bad." A loss is a loss and it deserves compassion and healing, attention and empathy. It doesn’t matter what you have been through. There are people they may have had it worse than you, but does that mean you can’t be sad or upset? No. Comparing yourself to others’ experience does not mean you are not worthy of healing. The truth is, losing someone or something is still sucks, it deserves healing. Give yourself permission to heal because what you have gone through matters. Why should we ignore the feeling of love or being loved by the loss of something? Grief is like any emotion, it comes and it goes. It is a signal that tell us we loved. Grief comes out of nowhere and unexpectedly which can be overwhelming, catches your off guard and can make us feel vulnerable. Sometimes these moments happens on an ordinary day, on holidays, while driving, or at the grocery store. Here, I share a personal story and moments when I have experienced grief unexpectedly about my fathers that you can relate to. The Main Takeaways: Embrace these feelings and feel Allow yourself to feel and don’t ignore it or stay busy to hide your emotions Take a deep breath Grief shows we loved or have been loved someone or something Grief can be a positive thing because it reminds us of memories that once were ordinary are now significant and the importance of human connection. We loved a beginning and an ending. We are going to witness the ending of a beginning. Unfortunately, some of these are people. Doing something new can be scary, but what’s even scarier is looking back with regret. Is there something that you want to do but it scares you? You become paralyzed by even starting. Starting before you are ready and done is better than perfect. We regret what we didn’t do. In this episode, I share my story of moving to Taiwan for a job shortly after my stepfather passed away only to realize the job isn’t for me. Feeling stuck and worried about what friends and family might think and quitting a job in a foreign country what is the price? Is happiness on the other side of fear? I talk about all things risks, doing things that scare us make us grow and shape us who we are. If we don’t do things that scare us, we never grow, we miss out on endless opportunities, meeting other people and much more. If I never did some of the things that scared me, I wouldn’t have come to Taiwan, which then resulted in quitting my job in Taiwan to work online and the idea of starting this podcast with you. What is the one thing that scares you the most but lights you up at the same time? That… is what we need to break down the barriers so we can see the woman who you are supposed to become.
