Hey, it's Alex, coming to you fresh off another live recording of ThursdAI, and what an incredible one it's been! I was hoping that this week will be chill with the releases, because of NVIDIA's GTC conference, but no, the AI world doesn't stop, and if you blinked this week, you may have missed 2 or 10 major things that happened. From Mistral coming back to OSS with the amazing Mistral Small 3.1 (beating Gemma from last week!) to OpenAI dropping a new voice generation model, and 2! new whisper killer ASR models with a Breaking News during our live show (there's a reason we're called ThursdAI) which we watched together and then dissected with Kwindla, our amazing AI VOICE and real time expert. Not to mention that we also had dedicated breaking news from friend of the pod Joseph Nelson, that came on the show to announce a SOTA vision model from Roboflow + a new benchmark on which even the top VL models get around 6%! There's also a bunch of other OSS, a SOTA 3d model from Tencent and more! And last but not least, Yam is back

The Writers' Gym is not just a podcast: it's a membership platform, supporting writers (and writers-to-be) in buildingcreative confidence, growing their writing life and beating the inspiration addiction. Membership of the Writers' Gym puts you in charge of your writing. It means creative confidence for life, work and art. It also means being part of a writing community with group and one-to-one sessions and personal support available throughout the week.   Founder and Writers' Gym PT Dr Rachel Knightley is a fiction and non-fiction author, lecturer in Creative Writing and a qualified business and personal coach. This series, Rachel will be talking to award-winning authors across the genres. She kicks off this new series by introducing its producer: Writers' Gym member, freelance writer (featured in Take a Break, Woman and Good Housekeeping) and Healthy Metal Hippie podcast founder and podcast editor extraordinaire Ashley Lexine.   For a writing workout based on each author's interview with Rachel this series, visit WritersGym.com to download every Writing Workout in the series. What you write is going to happen. Not only is it going to happen, it's going to happen without upsetting or offending anyone. What you plan is going to be absolutely fine.   Write the days of the week in the middle of a page. Put times at the side. Place writing time exactly where you want it. Then put in whatever else is important, around that.   Just look at it. Breathe it in. What does ideal look like? Imagine it happening. What does it feel like?   Take one small step. If there were one step you could make today, to make your week look one step more like the week you've just designed: -What would it be? -Who would you need to speak to? -What would you tell/ask them?     Main exercise:   Assumption-identifier Whether or not you're a nine-to-five person, pick one of these three promises to gift yourself every workday this week:   -I promise my writing self I'll take five-minute (or ten-minute) ‘writing breaks' whether that means a locked loo door, or going outside like a smoker. If smoking breaks don't destroy a working day, my writing breaks won't either.   Or   - I promise my writing self I'll write down my ideas as they happen. I'll always have a pen, or my phone notebook. Wherever I am, I'll make sure I write down key words to get me through that door later when I return to the thought. Or maybe I'll ‘vomit draft' the scene I think of right away.   From the show:   For creating time:   “If I go to the loo at work for five minutes, no one's going to be like, where were you? I'm going to take out my notebook, sit on the floor, and it's five minutes… the way other people do smoking breaks.” For creating confidence (which is really curiosity!):   To get yourself out of ‘telling' the reader and into ‘showing' the reader what it is to be human… I dare you to jump into their head for five minutes or 10 minutes.” Transcribe what they think, feel, see, hear, the thoughts in their mind, the feelings in their body.

Does this sound like you? You're working every weekend, answering emails at midnight, and “catch-up” is your new normal. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. More importantly, this can actually be a good sign. It means your business is growing. But if you feel like starting your business was tough, I'm here to tell you that hiring your first support person is actually more difficult. You'll probably feel like you're letting go of something you've built and nurtured for so long (because you have). And you might wonder if anyone else could possibly love your business as much as you do.When most coaches reach the 8-12 month mark in their business, they hit a ceiling. You're doing $10/hour tasks instead of $200/hour coaching work. Your inbox is overflowing. Those Post-it notes with tasks are multiplying. But staying in this place will absolutely lead to burnout and eventually cap your income. This week, we dig into exactly how to make the transition from solopreneur to growing a team, including some lessons I learned first-hand.Want to know the exact steps to document your tasks, create training materials, and set up your systems before bringing someone on? Listen in to learn the framework we've used to help dozens of coaches make this transition successfully.Links & Resources:Ultimate Growth GuideJoin the Facebook groupLoomOtterChatGPTKey Takeaways:"The trap of excellence" sneaks up on you. Being good at something doesn't mean you should be the one doing it.Your zone of genius is where energy, value, and unique expertise intersect—anything outside of that is costing your business growth. That $10/hour task is actually costing you $200/hour. Every minute spent on admin is time not spent on high-value coaching.Don't ask "Can I afford help?" but "How can I make help possible?" Shifting from limitation to possibility changes everything.Document before you delegate—two weeks of tracking your tasks saves two months of messy training later.Your SOP creation formula: Record yourself doing it → Transcribe it → Let AI structure it → Review for accuracy.A "Never Would I" list is just as important as a "How To" list. Set boundaries before you need them, not after you learn them the hard way.

YouTuber Kevin Nether joins us on this week's episode of The MacRumors Show to discuss Apple's latest updates to its array of Pro apps and the acquisition of Pixelmator. Apple this week released a series of updates for its Pro apps, including Logic Pro 11.1, Logic Pro for iPad 2.1, Final Cut Pro 11, Final Cut Pro for ‌iPad‌ 2.1, and Final Cut Camera 1.1. Most notably, the latest version of Final Cut Pro for the Mac includes spatial video editing support and AI-driven features such as Magnetic Mask and Transcribe to Captions. Earlier this month, Apple announced that it has acquired Pixelmator, the company behind popular photo and image editing apps Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator. The apps are exclusive to Apple platforms with a focus on user experience and one-off purchasing, unlike many of its rivals. Pixelmator is designed to be a challenger to Adobe Photoshop, while Photomator is a Lightroom competitor. Both Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro were Apple acquisitions, so it's possible that Pixelmator and Photomator may become the next Apple Pro apps with a focus on image editing. It could also fold some of its features into the Photos app. While Apple used to offer a Lightroom competitor called Aperture, it discontinued the app just over a decade ago, and it has never made a Photoshop rival. What exactly Apple will do with the acquisition remains to be seen, but the company has teased "exciting updates to come." See more of Kevin's work over on his YouTube channel "Kevin The Tech Ninja." Host Jeff Revilla guided the contestants through the intellectual obstacle course with humor and enthusiasm. The episode unfolded over a succession of three rounds, each proving to be a showdown of wits and trivial wisdom.  In Round 1, 'Christmas Quotes: Who Said It?,' the episode evoked the holiday spirit along with a sense of nostalgia by quoting famous personalities. Deanna showed an early knack for attribution, identifying Charles Dickens as the mind behind the famous quote about honoring Christmas. On the other hand, Joel used elimination strategy to correctly attribute a quote to Winston Churchill, while Wize's knowledge of pop culture shined when he recognized Dr. Seuss's reflection on the true nature of Christmas. Further highlights included Deanna's spot-on guess linking George Carlin to a humorous observation about Santa. Joel stayed close to the lead by recognizing the wisdom of Carrie Fisher, and Wize closed the round by identifying Kelly Clarkson's hopeful musing on the holiday season.  With Round 2, 'Connections Quiz + NAME 5,' the game show took a shift to test associative thinking. This round demonstrated Deanna's impressive ability to draw connections between seemingly disparate words, as she successfully linked 'cookie' to a list including 'cookie monster,' 'cookie jar,' 'cookie Crisp,' and 'cookie dough.' Despite her prowess, she stumbled on the bonus question regarding the gifts in 'The Twelve Days of Christmas.' Joel, introduced as a hypnotist and coach, faced his own challenges yet managed to close the gap by recognizing a variety of animal-related clues that centered around milk-producing creatures, although he mistakenly first considered 'hoofed animals' as the unifying theme.  Round 3, 'New Year New Buzzers,' brought an energizing start to the year with the contestants buzzing to guess clues from categories such as 'What am I?' and 'Who am I?' The tongue-in-cheek questions required quick thinking and agile minds, with Joel identifying 'Aurora Borealis' and Wize correctly connecting 'Rocky four' with the Rocky fight. However, it was Wize's guess on the US population in 2021 that clinched him the bonus point during a challenging tiebreaker question, leading to his victory. Stuff I Never Knew Trivia Game Show tests your knowledge with facts you may have never known before! Host Jeff Revilla welcomes three guests to play three rounds of high stakes trivia.

The challenge? To identify Christmas songs described in the most obscure manner. Jenny starts strong, her first guess of 'Silent Night' is spot on. Dina mixes 'Winter Wonderland' with 'Frosty the Snowman' and is corrected, realizing Jeff's clue was a trap. Graeme promptly names 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer' for a song about hoofed animals led by a luminous leader. As points are awarded, we see a tie with each guest scoring three points. Jenny's introduction highlights her life coaching business, Gentle Coaching, and her upcoming sports-themed podcast, 'Sideline Sisters.' Jenny nails nursery rhyme connections, hitting a perfect score for the 'Little Red Riding Hood' series and the Christmas gifts bonus round. Dina steps up, sharing about her podcast 'Love Pod,' recapping reality TV. She excels at her nursery rhyme segment, connecting 'Humpty Dumpty' before acing her Christmas gifts list. Graeme, from Embersky Media, discusses his focus on science and technology while hinting at his podcast ventures. His nursery rhyme challenge points to 'The Three Little Pigs,' but his gift-giving round doesn't go as smoothly. The final, fast-paced round sees guests buzzing in to solve a 'Who am I?' series of riddles with Graeme identifying the Aurora Borealis. In a game filled with festive spirit, clever clues, and a bit of singing, the episode promises to be an entertaining holiday treat for all listeners of 'Stuff I Never Knew.'
