One couple. Two personalities. Three million tests to prove it.
It’s the final countdown, the beginning of the end, the long goodbye: it’s our Favorite Fandom Farewell Tour!!! We are closing this chapter of our podcasting journey with some of our favorite fandoms. This week we head back to Middle Earth to find our LOTR avatars, and forge our own rings of power to rule all the internet!
Keeping Up With the Kardashians may be ending, but that doesn't mean we can't devote a week to this enormous fandom. It's time to see which sister we are—and talk about which sister we like best. Quizzes this week are "Which Kardashian Sister Are You?" (MagiQuiz) and "Design An Instagram Account And We'll Tell You Which Kardashian You Are" (Buzzfeed).

It's Saint Patrick's day, which means it's time for us to relate the grand old story of Saint Patrick (or at least make one up). Then we'll talk about our favorite unpronouncable Irish names and find out just how lucky we really are. Quizzes this week are "Everyone Has A Saoirse Ronan Character That Matches Their Personality — Plan A Trip To Ireland To Find Yours" (Buzzfeed) and "Choose Some Numbers And We'll Reveal How Lucky You Are" (Buzzfeed).
This week we're talking about WandaVision—arguable Marvel's biggest TV venture to date. WandaVision follows Wanda Maximoff (the Scarlet Witch) after the events of Avengers: Endgame. We recommend finishing the series before listening ... unless you don't mind spoilers! Quizzes this week are "Which WandaVision Character Are You?" (Buzzfeed) and "Which WandaVision Song Is Your Anthem?" (Buzzfeed).
It is a fact universally acknowledged that ... every reference to Jane Austen starts with those same seven words. We're no exception. It's period drama this week, as we dive into the massive fandom that is the work of Jane Austen. Quizzes this week are "Which Jane Austen Character Are You?" (BookRiot) and "Who’s Your Jane Austen Characters Boyfriend?" (Brainfall).
DON'T PANIC. Unless you don't have a towel. Then you can panic—we'll allow it. This week we're talking about The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (and its many many formats). And, naturally, we'll also be discussing whether or not robots should have Genuine People Personalities. Quizzes this week are "Which Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Character are you?" (allthetests.com) and "Which Robot Are You?" (PlayBuzz).
Math, science, history ... Today we're unraveling the TV phenomenon that is the Big Bang Theory. The good news is, we can all agree that the Big Bang Theory had some great episodes. The bad news is, neither of us are happy with the quiz results on this episode. Today's quizzes are "Which "The Big Bang Theory" Character Are You?" (BuzzFeed) and "Actual Science Or "Big Bang Theory" Episode?" (also BuzzFeed). As they say ... bazinga.
A very happy Valentines Day to all our true loves. Today we celebrate love with the show that (quite literally) brought us together: Pushing Daisies. It's a beautiful, quirky, delightful comedy that you really should watch if you haven't already. Quizzes this week are "Everybody Has A Pushing Daisies Character That Matches Their Personality — Here's Yours" (Buzzfeed) and "Everyone Has A Pie That Matches Their Personality 100% — Which One Are You?" (Buzzfeed).
Groundhog's day may have predicted six more weeks of winter, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate. This week's quizzes are all about the movie Groundhog Day ... which pretty much just means we're taking quizzes about Bill Murray. Quizzes this week are "Which Groundhog Day Character Are You?" (Playbuzz) and "Which Bill Murray Character Are You?" (brainfall).
We're talking about Schitt's Creek on this episode ... and that time last week when we took a couch on the Q train. Quizzes this week are "Which Schitt's Creek Character Are You?" (PlayBuzz) and "Spend A Day In "Schitt's Creek" And We'll Reveal Which Alexis Rose Quote Matches Your Personality" (Buzzfeed).
In honor of inauguration, we're devoting this week's episode to The West Wing—one of the most aspirational political dramas ever made. We also discuss which job we should have in the West Wing ... if any. Quizzes this week are "Which “West Wing” Character Are You?" (Brainfall) and "Which "West Wing" Man Should Be Your Significant Other?" (Buzzfeed).
If you haven't played Zelda: Breath of the Wild, that's fine. Neither has Ryan. We're talking about it this week anyway, since Jessie's been playing it for about two weeks straight now. Quizzes this week are "Everyone's Personality Matches A "Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild" Character — Here's Yours" (Buzzfeed) and "What's Your BOTW Life?" (quotev).
Happy New Year! We're celebrating the end of 2020 with a couple fun and lighthearted Pixar-themed quizzes. Join us as we talk about the best Pixar movies, and the ones we can't stand. Quizzes this week are "Which Combination Of Pixar Villain And Pixar Hero Are You?" (Buzzfeed) and "The Disney Pixar Aptitude Test" (Oh My Disney).
It's nearly Quiz-mas, so ths week we're diving into the Classics. Join us for some holiday cheer, a couple of great stories, and three pretty okay quizzes. Quizzes this week are "Which "A Christmas Carol" Character Are You?" (Buzzfeed), "What "It's a Wonderful Life Character" Are You? (Opinion Stage), and "Can We Guess When You Start Crying During "It's A Wonderful Life"?" (Buzzfeed).
It's a natural combo on the podcast today: Die Hard and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. We talk about the animated classics, and the non-animated extremely violent action classics. Ah, Christmas. Quizzes this week are "Is "Die Hard" A Christmas Movie?" (Buzzfeed), "Which classic animated Christmas special character are you?" (Decades), and "Take This Christmas Quiz And We'll Tell You If You're More Like Rudolph Or Frosty" (Buzzfeed).
Not My Type Quiz-mas continues with Hallmark Christmas week! (Buzzfeed) and 'The Cheesy Holiday Rom-Com You Write Will Reveal Which Bath & Body Works Scent You Are' (also Buzzfeed).
It's Quiz-mas time at Not My Type! Join us for our first installment of seasonal fandoms: Elf and Home Alone. We talk about the holidays, find out our Elf and Home Alone characters, and decide that lights really ARE the best decoration. Quizzes today are 'We Know Which "Elf" Character Matches Your Personality Based On Your Holiday Preferences' (Buzzfeed) and 'Which Home Alone McCallister Family Member Are You?' (Zimbio).
On this very special one year anniversary episode, we celebrate where we started—literally. Join us as we re-take the very first quizzes we ever took. We find out which movie rabbits we are (Zimbio: "Which Amazing Movie Rabbit Are You?") and build our own rom-coms (Buzzfeed: "Create A Rom-Com To Find Out Which '00s Heartthrob Would Play Your Boyfriend"). Unsurprisingly, 2020 has changed some of our answers, and our results.
Our knowledge of Taylor Swift may be limited, but our opinions are not. Today we dive into the Swift fandom, not as Swifties, but as people who want to take quizzes. We find out which Swift song we are, and find out that Jessie has thought a lot about fairies. Quizzes this episode are "Which Taylor Swift Song Is About You" on BrainFall and "Pretend To Be A Somber Woodland Fairy To Find Out Exactly Which "Folklore" Song You Are" on Buzzfeed.
Five friends, one classic sitcom. This VERY FOCUSED episode is all about How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM). We talk about NYC transit options, why the ending of HIMYM is the worst of all time, and ducks with their bills in dog tails. Quizzes this episode are "Which HIMYM Character Are You?" on BrainFall and "Which HIMYM Character Will You Get To Slap this Slapsgiving" on Buzzfeed.
Fantasia is the worst. But don't worry—we talk about other things on this episode too. It's a trip back to Disney nostalgia this week (mostly to keep our minds off the still-undecided 2020 presidential election), and we're focusing on live-action films this time. Join us as we discuss the Stitch-to-Mary-Poppins spectrum and, of course, how much Jessie hates Fantasia.
Any quiz can happen on Halloween ... from Buzzfeed to Zimbio.... And if that doesn't sound familiar to you, you need to watch "Anything Can Happen on Halloween" with Tim Curry immediately. We've dedicated (almost) our entire episode to Tim Curry, the man the legend, in this incredible piece of art. Made originally for a Disney original movie ("The Worst Witch", 1986), this two-minute song has become legendary thanks to Tim Curry's performance. We'll take you through all two minutes of "Anything Can Happen on Halloween" second by second. And then we'll take a quiz about Clue, because we've got to.
Today's fandom has literal stakes, because we're talking about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This much beloved pillar of the Whedonverse is one of our favorite shows of all time. Today we find out which member of the Scooby Gang we are—and which monster of the week is our soul twin. There's also a fair amount of gushing over Buffy's snappy dialogue and Joss Whedon's equal parts heartwrenching and gut-busting writing.
Toss a coin! Today we're talking about Netflix's "The Witcher." Geralt of Rivia has made that classic journey of popular book to wildly huge video game to Netflix hit. Portrayed by Henry Cavill, the Witcher is a hero, a victim, and just your average emotionally suppressed dude. We take quizzes to find out which Witcher characters we are, and also what kind of occupation we would have in the Witcher universe. And, more importantly, we discuss Ryan's fight-or-flight reaction.
Welcome to Nachtober! A month of spooky fandoms awaits. We're starting with Netflix's monster hit, Stranger Things. Starring Millie Bobby Brown (queen of Netflix), this incredible series proved to the world that Netflix could make its own TV—and it could do it well. Today on the pod, we'll find out which Stranger Things character is our soulmate. Plus, we'll take on two diametrically-opposed waffle-based quizzes.
With the recent release of Netflix's Enola Holmes, we decided the time was ripe for a Sherlock-themed quizz-isode. Join us as we find out which version of Sherlock Holmes we are—and what Sherlock would think of us. The answers are not always flattering ... but compared to Sherlock, we're all pretty elementary.
Bear with ... bear with ... This episode is dense with Miranda references. It's all marvilisimous though, because our quizzes this week are all Miranda-themed. If you enjoy BBC comedies about quirky joke shop owners who pretend vegetables are friends, Miranda (and, hopefully, this episode) were made for you. It's what we call a good time. Love oo!
School is uncancelled! We're taking Community-inspired quizzes on the podcast today. NBC's "Community" is an absurdist comedy series about a study group at Greendale Community College, and it might just be the laugh we need to get through another week of wretched 2020. Today we discuss Troy and Abed in the Morning, some truly crazy community college courses, and, of course, pop POP!
Today the podcast is haunted by the wildly long-running TV series Supernatural. We talk about Sam and Dean Winchester's codependent relationship (and Sam's ever-evolving hair) as we find out which characters we are. Would we survive an episode of the show? Probably not, but we're happy enough not to find out. Plus: some bad news about mice.
Prepare yourself for sharp comedy, emotional gut-punches, and tropes turned inside out.... And obviously we're NOT talking about ourselves. It's all about Phoebe Waller-Bridge on today's episode. We take quizzes to find out which Fleabag characters we are and how Villanelle (from Killing Eve) would do us in. Plus a lot of gushing in general about both Killing Eve and Fleabag.
Vampyres. Blood. GLITTER. You know what we're talking about, right? It's TWILIGHT on the podcast today, and we've brought in a guest expert on the Cullen fam to walk us through our quizzes. We'll find out which vampires we are ... and make some necessary digs at the Twilight Saga. Turns out some of us have more bloodlust than others ... but we're all (kinda) Team Edward.
Let us explain. No ... there is too much ... let us sum up. Today is all Humperdink, Humperdink, HUMPERDINK on the pod, as we attempt to climb the quizzes of insanity. Which Princess Bride characters are we? Would we be able to rescue Princess Buttercup? Does True Love REALLY conquer all? All this ... plus a special guest.
Please enjoy this special CROSSOVER episode with Lockdown Luvvies! We talk about life in NYC (aka "The Epicenter") during the pandemic, how shutdowns have affected performers (aka Ryan, Thom, and Kathryn), and how long everyone's hair has gotten. And, of course, we take a quiz. Make sure to check out Thom and Kathryn at Lockdown Luvvies for more acting life, actors, and (of course) charming quips.
Shakespeare is a fandom. We stand by it. These week's episode reveals that Ryan is a giant snob and Jessie can't read Shakespeare aloud without sounding like she's having a stroke. We each find out our Shakespeare objects and archetypes, and we construct our very own Shakespeare play (by multiple choice, obviously). We may even get a tarot card reading in ... if Ryan ever stops monologuing.
On your marks, get set, BAKE! We're taking Great British Bake Off quizzes today on the podcast. We'll find out which of the presenters we are and how far we'd make it on the show. Do you know what aquafaba is? It's ok, neither does Ryan. Mostly we're just grateful we had the opportunity to be here. (Cut shot to bleating lamb.)
As a podcast, we're legally obligated to dedicate an episode to the 2020 video game phenomenon that is Animal Crossing: New Horizons. So today we're finding our Animal Crossing bugs, characters, and—yes—even soulmates. It's all island paradise on this episode (except for the wasps nests, scorpions, and trash islands). Plus: tarot readings are looking up this week.
Pull out your d20s and your character sheets, because this week's episode is all about Dungeons and Dragons. Join us as we venture into the internet-lands to discover our alignments and character classes. Tangents abound, danger lurks in every question, and we roll several conversational critical misses. Will you listen? We'll roll a persuasion check.
We all know what came out on Disney Plus this weekend... HAMILTON. It's time, friends, for the Hamilton edition of Not My Type. Will we be satisfied? Yes we will. Will we wait for it? No we will not. Today we find out which Hamilton character, song, and disney match-up we are. Plus: Another Buzzfeed quiz gets the official Not My Type seal of approval.
On one of the more catastrophic episodes of the podcast, we attempt to take a couple of Stargate: SG-1 quizzes. Jessie loves Stargate; Ryan couldn't pronounce Goa'uld if his life depended on it. They both want to find out which SG-1 characters they are, but fate has other plans....
This week's episode: Warning track, wall, Touchdown!!! The score is now 30 love and the players have 7 minutes of extra time. Wait. None of those words are the sport we are fandoming this week. Ryan finally gets to talk about basketball, and Jessie gets to pretend to know what he is talking about. Come found out what NBA legend they are, what position they should play, and if nothing else what team they should be rooting for. Now let’s strap on our face masks and Play Ball!
Avatar: The Last Airbender finally got added to Netflix, and we've been binging the entire series. We're obsessed, and so we're (naturally) devoting this episode to Aang, Katara, Sakka, Appa, Momo, Toph, Zuko, Iroh, et al. First we find out what kind of benders we are, then which characters we most closely relate to. We wrap up by finding out what everyone ACTUALLY wants to know—who is our ATLA soulmate? Plus, a long tangent about sky bison from Jessie, who wept profusely during Appa's Lost Days (who didn't).
QUIZ: The Final Frontier. These are the Star Trek quizzes of the Not My Type podcast. It's three-quiz mission? To discover which characters we are. To seek out the colors of our uniforms and our proper star ship captains. To boldly quiz a fandom we have not explored before! That's right—we're finally venturing into the world(s) of Star Trek. We may both agree that Jean-Luc Picard is the one true captain, but can we agree on who the worst character in Star Trek is? Yes, yes we can.
Today on the podcast: MARVEL. Superheroes. Magic. Yes, it is another fandom. Yes, we have decided to just focus on fandoms for a while. Yes, we have more fun doing fandoms. Join us as we find out which Marvel superhero would be our best friends, and which Marvel villains we are. Plus a discussion of pasta.
On this last episode of May We Have a Fandom, we revisit one of our all-time favorite fandoms: Disney. We head to Oh My Disney to find out which Disney sidekick we are, then hurry back to Buzzfeed to take an unconventional quiz: a Disney Princess murder mystery. Our sleuthing may leave something to be desired, but at least our horoscopes this week don't.
We're unofficially titling this episode "Schur, Why Not?" Michael Schur has created a number of huge hits: The Office, The Good Place, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn Nine-Nine.... So it seemed only appropriate to dedicate this May We Have a Fandom to the Schur Shows. Join us as we find out which Parks and Rec character we are, where we belong in The Office, and whether or not we would actually make it into the Good Place.
Welcome to the WHEDONVERSE! This week's episode is all things Joss Whedon ... and by 'all things', we mean pretty much just Buffy and Firefly. We find out which Buffy character, which Firefly character, and which Whedonverse heroine we are. ALSO: Jessie discusses her short and long journey from not wanting video games to obsessively hunting down a Nintendo Switch. The reason? Animal Crossing.
Introducing ... MAY we have a fandom! Every week in May will be a fandom-themed episode of the podcast. Jessie and Ryan kick off the fandom extravaganza with (in Ryan's opinion) the best fandom of all time: Musical Theater. On this dense-with-musical-references episode, Jessie and Ryan explore their inner Broadway .... and their inner Patti Lupones.
Jessie and Ryan finally venture into the vast world of Lord of the Rings quizzes. First up is an exhaustive (and exhausting) journey to discover which LOTR character they are. Next, a Not My Novel segment dedicated to LOTR fanfic. And, finally, which weapon will Jessie and Ryan wield in Middle Earth? All this—and trees—on this greenery heavy episode of the show.
It's time for another imagination quiz, so play along with your ears ... and your heart. This visualization exercise can tell you a lot about the state of your heart, or so it claims. Join Jessie and Ryan as they find out how accurate (or inaccurate) their own imaginations can be. Plus: What song will you sing from your balcony during quarantine?
