Jodie Comer is an Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor who you may know as the assassin Villanelle on the show “Killing Eve.” Though she's been acting since childhood, Jodie treats every role with the intense work ethic of someone who's still gunning for their big break. In her new film, “The Bikeriders,” she stars opposite Austin Butler, Tom Hardy and Michael Shannon as a woman who married into a biker gang. The film was inspired by an actual Midwestern motorcycle club that started in the ‘60s. Jodie joins Tom to talk about the film, learning a new accent for the project, and the incredible work ethic that's gotten her this far in her acting career.
Terry Griffiths breaks down the villanelle and explains how you can start to experiment with this complex form for today's NaPoWriMo prompt www.poetrynonstop.com

The actor Jodie Comer became a household name playing the glorious baddie Villanelle in BBC drama Killing Eve, and she has gone on to win multiple awards for her work on screen and stage. She joins Emma Barnett now to talk about her latest film, The End We Start From. Think 28 Days Later meets The Day After Tomorrow with a twist – the protagonist is a new mum, who has to navigate a flooded Britain with her baby.Football commentators Eni Aluko and Lucy Ward are reported to be considering legal action against Joey Barton for his recent online criticisms of them. Eni Aluko has released a video on her Instagram speaking about the effect it has had on her. Where is the line between sexist bullying online and freedom of speech? Emma speaks to Henry Winter, Chief football writer at The Times and Seyi Akiwowo, founder of Glitch UK, a charity working to end online abuse, and author of How to Stay Safe Online.Olivia Attwood knows more than most about the financial – and emotional – cost of cosmetic treatments. The former Love Island contestant and star of The Only Way Is Essex has been open about the surgeries and 'tweakments' she has had. In her new ITV series The Price of Perfection, she goes behind the scenes to watch butts being lifted, lips being filled and breasts being enlarged. But she wants to make sure that teenage girls don't make the mistakes she herself made.Da'Vine Joy Randolph has just won this year's Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her portrayal of Mary Lamb in Alexander Payne's new film The Holdovers. It's about a teacher, pupil and head cook who end up spending Christmas together at a New England boarding school in the early 1970's. Mary is grieving the loss of her son, who has been killed in Vietnam. Da'Vine has been tipped for more awards recognition to come, and she joins Emma in the Woman's Hour studio.

Today's poem is Villanelle by Michelle Lin. The Slowdown is your daily poetry ritual. In this episode, guest host Shira Erlichman writes… “Today's poem centers around the defining relationship of a mother and child. To bring obsession into language, Lin masterfully uses the repetitive poetic form of the villanelle. They fling open doors only to quickly shut them. I know this dance well. The dance of longing and revelation.” Celebrate the power of poems with a gift to The Slowdown today. Every donation makes a difference: https://tinyurl.com/rjm4synp

Wow, we're back friends! Finally f*cking back with our recap of the final episode, of the final goddamn season of Killing Eve. After marinating on the depravity given to us by Laura Neal for the past few months, we're displeased to report that no, it doesn't get better
Villanelle and Eve, squatting in bush, then K-I-S-S-I-N-G!! We are here at what Laura dubbed the "piss kiss", but first, our favorite murder sapphics have stumbled upon an unassuming het couple with matching scars, and now they must all share a bothy! We get domesticity, witty jokes, tarot card readings and gay crime. It was almost perfect, but Laura Neal would never stand for that! Carolyn says stuff to Pam and Pam says stuff to Carolyn, none of it is important or necessary, but it is still said. Imagine writing for a spin off that doesn't exist yet??? As the breakdown continues we debate aloud about some of the choices production made and if they served the story overall, while also focusing on the beauty of Villaneve's first true kiss.As always, if you have any thoughts (or feelings) about a topic we discussed or Polastri theories of your own to share, please do so by emailing us at heyyouguys@wellwellvillanelle.com or hitting us up on any of our social media accounts. We got a lot of things in the final episode, much of it simply ABJECT HORROR, but there were a few good things and at the top of that small pile of good, is the implied smash. So let's talk about it. Villanelle looks the happiest she's ever been and Eve is at her jauntiest. We could have had it alllllllll! However sadly, the only gay wedding we get is one that makes no sense, as Eve and Villanelle embark on their final mission to take out the 12.More than halfway into the “finale” and it begins to feel like there were only six episodes of the show written with the first and last split into two. The fluff that we get would be fine and not cause for alarm, had this not been dubbed as the final time we interact with any of these characters for the series. As always, if you have any thoughts (or feelings) about a topic we discussed or Polastri theories of your own to share, please do so by emailing us at heyyouguys@wellwellvillanelle.com or hitting us up on any of our social media accounts. Hey hoes, we're back in this bihhh, but we still haven't started the recap
Come with me and you'll be, in a world of Laura Neal's creation. Take a look, bra ta ta taaa, into her confabulations!!!!! We'll begin with some worms,on Gunn's sapphic island of horrors, hunting pigs, and dirty nails, defy gay explanation!!! Look clowns, there's no way to put this lightly alright? Find out what truly creates and defines a psychopath, from the leading expert who helped to create Killing Eve's Villanelle.Dr. Mark Freestone has worked on some of the most interesting, infamous and disturbing cases of psychopathology in recent years. His expertise has led to a consultant role on several TV series, helping them accurately portray their fictional villains. Now, he shares his phenomenal insight into the minds of some of the world's most violent real-life criminals.Angela "the Remorseless", a rare female psychopath, casually confessed to murder on national television without a hint of regret. Danny "the Borderline" switched from grandiosity to rage to despair within minutes and killed his defenseless friend without explanation. Tony "the Conman" preferred charm, intimidation and sexual abuse over physical violence and once tried to dupe someone into buying the Eiffel Tower. Jason "the Liar" had a fantasy life that led to vicious murders around Europe and preyed on those who see the good in people. Case by fascinating case, get to know seven of the most dangerous minds that Dr. Freestone has encountered over the last 15 years. These are up-close accounts of some of the most psychopathic criminals, and of what can happen if you fall victim to their supreme powers of manipulation.Exploring the many factors that make a psychopath, the complexities and contradictions of their emotions and behavior, as well as an examination of how the lives of psychopaths develop inside and outside the institutions that are supposed to contain them, Making a Psychopath opens up a window into the world of those who operate in a void of human emotion―and what can be done to control them.
