Believing the sighting to be supernatural, the deputy concludes the caller likely encountered the ghosts of the long-lost siblings. Like every part of our planetary geography, oceans have identifiable regions. Beginning at the beach and gradually dropping to about 650 feet is the continental shelf. This shallow region of the ocean is called the sunlit or Epiplagic zone. From sunlight we move into the beginnings of oceanic darkness: we leave the continental shelf and step onto the much steeper continental slope where we enter the twilight or Mesopelagic zone, which descends to about 4,000 feet—the better part of a mile. Here, light from the surface disappears. We continue in darkness down the continental slope into the midnight or Bathypelagic zone, all the way to 13,000 feet—a crushing depth of nearly two miles. But we're nowhere near the bottom yet. At 13,000 feet, the slope begins to level as it becomes the continental rise on its way to the sea floor, at about 20,000 feet. This is the Abyss, or the Abyssopelagic zone, the dwelling place of creatures that are the stuff of nightmares. Even their names conjure darkness: gulper eels. Angler fish. Vampire squid. Coffinfish. But this is still not the deepest part of the ocean. That honor goes to the Hadal zone, named after Hades, the underworld. These are the ocean's deep trenches, and they descend to unimaginable depths of nearly 37,000 feet. Mount Everest could be dropped into these canyons and its peak would lie under deep water. In this program, we look at these deep regions, at the organisms that lives there, and at the sounds of the deep.

Today on Too Opinionated we visit with actor W. Earl Brown.  Wes Craven was an early supporter, casting Earl in New Nightmare, A Vampire in Brooklyn and the role of "Kenny" in the classic, Scream. Two years after the success of Scream, Earl played "Warren", Cameron Diaz's mentally challenged brother, in There's Something About Mary. Among his many other film credits are the highly regarded films: Being John Malkovich, The Master, The Sessions , Wild , Black Mass, and the Netflix hits - The Highwaymen and The Unforgivable. On television, Earl has guest starred in many series, including: The Mandalorian, Luck, Seinfeld, Hacks, Yellowstone, American Horror Story, Justified, X-Files, Six Feet Under, and NYPD Blue. Among the TV movies he has been involved with, was the starring role in VH1's Meatloaf: To Hell and Back. He played "Tom Carlin" in ABC's highly acclaimed anthology series American Crime (2015) and "Teague Dixon" in HBO's True Detective. He is probably best known as "Dan Dority" in HBO's Deadwood. During that series' second season, the show's creator, David Milch, invited him to join the writing staff. In 2007, Earl earned a WGA nomination for writing on a drama series and a SAG nomination for best drama ensemble acting. Establishing himself on a show as critically lauded as Deadwood opened doors for other writing projects, including the Sony release, Bloodworth, which Earl wrote and produced. Earl can currently be seen as Wes Fox on Sheriff Country. In addition to his television and film work, Earl co-starred in Sony's The Last Of Us, 2013 Video Game Of The Year. He also writes music and records with Sacred Cowboys, an LA based Americana band. In 2018, he combined his love of music and film by co-creating the short film, Dad Band, which racked up 1.3 million views on YouTube.

Son intrigue nous emmène donc en Roumanie durant la guerre russo-turque, elle suit l'affrontement acharné entre un soldat roumain et un officier russe, le cruel prince Boris Liatoukine : un homme à la force démesurée et à la réputation démoniaque. On le dit invincible d'ailleurs et insensible aux balles et à la douleur, laissant derrière lui des champs de ruines et des milliers de cadavres. On murmure qu'il se nourrit du sang des morts ? « Le Capitaine vampire » est publié, en 1879, à Paris. Son autrice est âgée d'une vingtaine d'années, elle est belge et elle s'appelle Marie Nizet. Elle est très engagée politiquement et a côtoyé de nombreux étudiants venus des pays slaves et balkaniques. Elle a déjà publié des poèmes dans lesquels elle défend la Roumanie opprimée par l'empire russe. Après sa mort, en 1922, Marie Nizet, avec son œuvre, sombre dans l'oubli. Jusqu'au jour où un historien français d'origine roumaine décèle dans « Le Capitaine vampire », une influence majeure du fameux « Dracula » de Bram Stoker, paru dix-huit ans plus tard. All das sollte die Fans zwar auch erwarten, allerdings garniert mit riesigen technischen Problemen: Bugs, Glitches und ein gehetztes Story-Finale waren die Zeugen einer höllischen Entwicklungsphase, über die später ein Mitarbeiter sagen würde: "Im Rückblick war das eine fantastische Lernerfahrung, wie man Videospiele nicht entwickeln sollte." Und trotzdem gelang es dem technisch gescheiterten Titel, sich in die Herzen seiner Fans festzubeißen: Während das Entwicklerteam Troika kurz nach Release schließen musste, patchten SpielerInnen jahrelang Fehler um Fehler aus dem Programm und erhoben den Titel schließlich zum nachträglichen Kultklassiker. Geraldine Hohmann ist eine dieser Fans, die den Titel als Teenager zum ersten Mal spielte und seitdem nicht von seiner faszinierenden Welt loskommen konnte. Dom Schott hingegen hat gar keine Ahnung, was hier los ist - und will das nun ändern. Firearms failed against its elastic, cartilaginous body; hand-to-hand combat with knives finally severed its head, bagging the hairless, putty-like corpse for extraction—the narrator's most dreaded foe.Michigan Dogman Hunt (2018): All units mobilized after a high-ranking officer's relative was eviscerated, uncovering two more hunter victims. Guided by IT to funnel the demonic-seeming, near-unstoppable beast into a kill zone, the team unleashed overwhelming firepower, defying orders to capture it alive.Kentucky-Indiana Bigfoot Jamboree (2020): Amid a missing boy in Land Between the Lakes and sightings near Mammoth Cave (where some escaped underground), nine more Bigfoots were herded via IT to a wildlife area. The unit orchestrated inter-group battles, using claymores and gunfire to eliminate most, pursuing a lone escapee into Shawnee National Forest over three days.The narrator shares cryptid insights: Bigfoots form protective family groups (harmless unless provoked), but rogue male packs pose the greatest threat, exhibiting tree-climbing agility, human influence, and brutal kills (e.g., impaling a hunter 20 feet up, blamed on a "tree stand fall"). I'm just so thrilled about all the new Kālī content we've been putting out this past month, in the days leading up to Śyåma Kālī Pūjā, and the weeks after: First, in How To Get Possesed By Kālī we carefully explained what it is to be a paśu or anu, a discreet unit of consciousness (i.e an embodied soul or jīva) and then carefully pointed out why the ānavopaya is so suited for most of us, despite our pretense at high-flying non-dual philosophies! The ānavopaya assumes duality, individuality and the separate, external existence of God that can be invoked, evoked and experienced in the vigraha (image). We discussed how the goal of ānavopaya is a kind of immersion in the Goddess through worship and other techniques that can very well be understood as a kind of "possession" (aveśa) experience. Then, having explained all of that, we presented you with How To Get Started With Kālī Worship and also Who Is Kali? | & A Ritual to Invoke Her to kickstart your practice and for more seasoned practitioners, we even went over a A Left Hand Path Ritual for Kālī having given some nuance and context for it in Introducing The Left Hand Worship of KālīAnd for whatever reason if you're somehow not convinced about the power and importance of ritual worship in your spiritual life (because you're attached to some notion of non-duality or something, for instance), we make a case for it in The Essence of Tantra | & Why You Should Learn Pūjā. I think it's neat also that you can watch a demo of the whole pūjā (in an albeit abbreviated form) in Śyāmā Kālī Pūjā 2025. Bigfoot - There Was No EscapeIn 1964, the narrator's grandfather and uncle, experienced campers in the Appalachian Mountains, took a risky shortcut through the eerie, lifeless Devil's Bowl to beat nightfall. What began as suspicious noises—snapping branches, rustling leaves, and clacking rocks—escalated into a terrifying ambush by multiple eight-foot-tall, hairy, ape-like creatures with piercing eyes and guttural roars, resembling Bigfoot. Pelted with increasingly large stones, the men spotted shadowy figures circling them. The grandfather, mistaking them initially for moonshiners, drew his pistol and tried to de-escalate, but a massive beast charged, knocking them down. Desperate, the uncle emptied his revolver into one creature, killing it and unleashing a horde of enraged others that swarmed, slashing and battering the pair. With broken ribs and severe wounds, the grandfather fought back fiercely, shooting several beasts in the head to defend his unconscious uncle, fearing he'd wiped out the entire group. A Bigfoot Child for a Human ChildIn a Mississippi trailer park, Lily, a watchful resident who keeps an eye on the neighborhood kids, overhears a group of children bickering about their lost little sister, who they say wandered into the woods chasing a "baby monkey." Concerned as dusk approaches, Lily ventures into the familiar woods to search, following tracks and soon detecting a familiar musky scent she associates with Sasquatch.Deeper in, she encounters not the girl but a frightened baby Sasquatch, which clings to her like a koala. As she tries to retreat, a pack of coyotes gives chase, forcing Lily to hoist the baby into a tree for safety. Cornered, she's on the verge of attack when the massive, enraged mother Sasquatch intervenes, hurling coyotes into trees with terrifying roars that shake Lily to her core. Initially furious at the scent of her baby on Lily, the mother softens when the infant returns to Lily's neck, then gently strokes her hair before leading her to a twiggy nest—where the sleeping little girl lies safe, guarded by the Sasquatch family.Reading Lily's unspoken plea, the mother urges her to take the child and flee, glancing warily at unseen threats like hunters. Lily escorts the girl home through the woods. Emerging behind her trailer, the girl dashes off, while Lily reunites with her husband, Steve, who ribs her for reeking like a skunk. Bigfoot Came at Him and He Had to ShootAn experienced hunter, unable to join his usual family group, tags along with a friend's neighbors for a three-day hunt. Wary of one drunken member (whose rifle is confiscated), he starts the first day late due to a delayed breakfast, arriving at a remote plateau overlooking timber and waterways well after dawn. Ignoring warnings about getting lost in 40 square miles of swampy woods, he ventures north alone along a game trail, crossing a treacherous 30-foot waterway via a fallen log—only to plunge into icy, quicksand-like depths mid-crossing.He escapes using his 30/30 rifle's new sling to haul himself back onto the log, then continues, soaked but undeterred. Drying off while hiking to high ground, he spots fresh bear tracks near the crossing (possibly drawn by his splash), prompting caution. He observes snowshoe rabbits and a group of seven deer (including two bucks) from a log pile vantage, letting them pass as another hunter trails them.Pushing deeper north through dense underbrush, he finds no deer sign in the isolated terrain, which puzzles him. As heavy snow turns to a blizzard near dusk, he retraces his steps, recrossing the log safely but arriving at the empty parking area—stranded in pitch darkness as his group has abandoned him. Waiting in limited 10-foot visibility, he hears rustling below and yells to alert what he assumes is the other hunter. Silence follows, but an unseen entity approaches uphill through an impenetrable 50-yard wall of 6-foot briar thickets laced with 1-inch "Wait-a-Minute" thorns—snapping branches in a bipedal rhythm that rules out human or bear. Drawing on prior friendly Bigfoot encounters during a Canadian fishing trip, he suspects a hostile 8-foot-tall one.With no escape on the exposed plateau, he issues final warnings, then fires three close warning shots from his 30/30 (aiming to deter without killing, leveraging his 82nd Airborne background). Undeterred, the creature closes to 30 yards, forcing him to ready a lethal headshot. In a split-second twist of fate, a pickup truck crests the plateau just inches from him—the returning group, chastised for leaving early. He leaps aboard with his still-loaded rifle, urging them to flee without explaining the terror.
