The Cycle is a podcast about endometriosis stories from patients as well as helpful information about the disease and ways to cope with it. Our goal is to share endo stories from people all over the world to empower you. Medical disclaimer: THIS PODCAST I
The Cycle. Endometriosis Podcast is an incredibly informative and heartfelt podcast that provides a platform for individuals to share their experiences with endometriosis. As someone who was diagnosed with PCOS at a young age and has struggled with the lack of understanding and support from healthcare professionals, I found this podcast to be a breath of fresh air. It has provided me with valuable information, support, and a sense of community.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the diverse range of stories and perspectives shared by individuals who have been affected by endometriosis. Hearing these stories made me feel heard, understood, and less alone in my own journey with the condition. The host does an excellent job of asking thoughtful questions and allowing her guests to share their experiences openly and honestly. This creates a safe space for listeners to gain knowledge, find comfort, and relate to others going through similar struggles.
Another great aspect of this podcast is its educational value. The episodes provide valuable information about endometriosis, including symptoms, diagnosis processes, treatment options, and self-care strategies. This podcast has helped me become more aware of my own symptoms and has inspired me to take action in advocating for my health. It has also equipped me with important questions to ask healthcare professionals and empowered me to be proactive in my own treatment.
While there aren't many negative aspects to this podcast, one possible criticism is that it may be overwhelming for some listeners due to the heavy subject matter. Endometriosis is a chronic condition that causes physical pain and emotional distress for those affected by it. Some listeners may find it difficult or triggering to hear about others' experiences with such a debilitating disease.
In conclusion, The Cycle. Endometriosis Podcast is a valuable resource for individuals living with endometriosis or those who have loved ones affected by the condition. It provides much-needed information, support, and empowerment in navigating the challenges of this chronic illness. The host's compassionate approach and the diverse range of stories shared on this podcast make it a must-listen for anyone seeking understanding, community, and hope in their journey with endometriosis.

Dr Mathew Leonardi is an advanced gynecological surgeon and sonologist (ultrasound specialist) at McMaster University Medical Centre in Hamilton, Canada. He has been awarded his Ph.D. from the University of Sydney, which focused on the utility of ultrasound in diagnosing and managing endometriosis. We talk about non-invasive ways to diagnose endo, the challenges doctors and patients face in Canada, and much more. This podcast has inspired me to have more ways to diagnose endo sooner and without surgery.Find his research and social channels here: https://mathewleonardi.com/Link to suggested ways to manage endo we talked about on the show: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7263080/Link to the above quoted article: "Ignored Because It Is Benign – It Is Time to Treat Endometriosis as if It Were Cancer." https://www.researchgate.net/publication/338879056_Ignored_Because_It_Is_Benign_-_It_Is_Time_to_Treat_Endometriosis_as_if_It_Were_CancerWant to watch the show on YouTube? https://www.youtube.com/@MelissaBouFollow for clips of the show:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecycle.endopodcast/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thecycleendopodcastThank you for listening to and supporting this podcast. Lauren R. Kornegay, founder of Endo Black joins us this month. Diagnosed with endometriosis at the age of 20, Lauren experienced the pain, struggles, exhaustion, and confusion that accompany the disorder. This led her on a search to find someone that looked like her, who was also dealing with endometriosis.Having previously searched social media, websites, and other avenues, she knew something had to change. Her mother always told her, “If there's a void, fill it, and if you want something done, do it yourself.” Lauren believes in “creating a space where there is no space.”So in October of 2015, Lauren established Endo Black, Inc., a platform designed to connect African American women and women of color affected by endometriosis.Join us today as she talks about her endo story, living a life of service, and her endo story. Check out https://www.endoblack.org/ for all of the events and details we talked about on today's show.
