    Weight loss can be difficult for many reasons, but one of the biggest is that most people don't understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss.   In weight loss, you lose pounds, but not necessarily fat. Since muscle weighs about the same as fat, you might have gained some fat if you lost weight and put on muscle (and vice versa).In weight loss, you lose pounds, but not necessarily fat. You won't be able to lose this fat by targeting the area, but you will need a combination of diet (think whole foods) and exercise.    Fat loss is hard.   It's so hard, in fact, that most people quit before they even get started.     When it comes to dieting, it can be hard—really hard.   If you've ever tried to lose weight, you know how hard it is to find a diet that works for you. One day, you're told to cut out carbs, then the next, you're told not to eat fats.   But what if you try one of these diets and don't see results? Or worse: what if it leaves you feeling tired and drained? Then Sally tells you her diet worked for her because she lost weight quickly—but she doesn't tell you about the side effects of her diet: no energy for time with your kids; no me time; no energy left over for anything else.     Okay, let's be honest: generally speaking, most diets don't work for very long.  If you're in the market for a diet shake, you should know that you may not lose as much weight as Arbonne claims. There's nothing wrong with losing weight and it can be very rewarding for your health, but there are no shortcuts when it comes to losing the kind of weight you want. Especially when diet shakes like this claim to eliminate your cravings or solve other problems that aren't related to your body weight (like providing ingredients which can cure different ailments).   It can be tough to tell if a diet is viable or whether the claims being made about it really stand up. When someone comes along who's lost weight through a diet, it can seem like one of the best ways to get in shape; as though you just have to buy their product and you'll get what they got.   People join weight loss plans for a number of reasons. Usually people want to be healthy, but there are also those who are looking for ways to burn fat and lose weight quickly without taking hard measures.     A common question I get asked is when will I see results. I will often hear the question, "WOW, what did you do? How long did it take to lose the weight?" When I share my transformation photo, the truth is that it will take as long as it takes. If you have that attitude about fat loss, you'll be a winner, and here's why. Your body composition, Sally's body composition, and anyone else's body composition differs, so whatever time it took me won't be the same for you, Sally, or anyone else. There are so many factors that contribute to your age, weight, stress, etc. It's easy to get discouraged when you have high expectations for weight loss, you're excited to lose this fat, but if you've tried it before, you know there's no cookie-cutter answer to this question & how long it'll take.     In only 11 weeks, summer will be here, at least at the time of this podcast. Imagine you have your vacation planned and you notice you look a bit fluffy, more fluffy than you'd like, so you search for the quickest way to lose fat and you stumble upon the 4 week no sugar challenge; you decide to try it right away. How hard can it be? you ask. I just have to stop eating sugar, right? A conversation I recently had went something like this and I was eager to see the results. Once we talked more, they realised the drive for the challenge wasn't health-related, it was just a matter of seeing how it would go. It was therefore not much of a plan, only for 30 days, after which they would eat as they did 30 days earlier. It may sound like a great idea in theory, but realistically, is it something you can sustain? I did this once, but what happened was I binged on so much sugar (while still on the chalknege) that I ended up eating three doughnuts in three minutes, and then I became violently sick due to eating too much sugar at once. If you're aware you consume too much sugar, more than the daily recommended allowance, and you want to change that, great!     Ep 99: Want An Easy Fix For Finding The Right Diet? This Episode Is For You

    Is there a diet that's right for you? Ever tried to find THE diet that works for you on the Internet? There are literally billions of search results, leaving you even more confused than you were before? You go to social media instead to search for "lose fat fast" hashtags, only to be met with useless weight-loss advice like "cut carbs at 6pm if you want to lose weight." If you're desperate for anything to work, you'll take any advice and follow it to the letter. You'll also stop eating carbs after 6pm because your favourite influencer said so. Let's hold the phone, friends. Let's take a deep breath (literally) Think about this. If you've taken this advice before, can you remember what happened? Did it work out? I'm guessing not really if you're here. Helping you is the reason I do what I do. I used to be in your shoes a long time ago. My problem was fast food for 20 years, hating the way I looked in the mirror, wearing clothes that were too big because I didn't want to look fat. It's almost impossible to walk into a room without feeling like you're going to stick out like a sore thumb. Everyone's going to be watching or worse, talking about you. "You saw her outfit, didn't you?" "She's put on so much weight..." "Does she think he'll go for her over me?" I'm sorry to say, but all that stuff happened anyway. Feel free to tell me if you can relate. As you stand in the room, you wish the ground would swallow you up, crushed and humiliated, and just wanting whatever it is to be over already. You can't think of anything else but comfort foods. At last, you're reunited, and uncontrollably you feast on all the foods you can find in the hope of eradicating all the humiliations and rejections of the day. For a split second, you succeed, but after the euphoria wears off, you gain weight again. You end up even heavier than before. The cycle begins all over again, and it seems impossible to break the cycle, so you constantly return to your old habits, never really reaching your desired destination...     WHY DO YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT? You might think that this seems like a strange question for either a person to ask you or for you to ask yourself, doesn't it? It's almost like an interview question where they ask, "why do you want the job? You're a bit like, well, because I need one, and some may even say that (although they soon discover they did not get the job) Your weight loss goal might be to give you more energy, or you might want to lose weight to look and or feel more attractive to your husband. Or, you hate being overweight & you want to finally make those changes last this time. Even though excess weight puts extra strain & pressure on your joints, having those reasons alone hasn't cut it for you. To lose weight we know we need to reduce the number of calories we take in, change our mindset, create a healthy relationship with food and balance our energy. Those sound simple, don't they? That's not all; when it comes to keeping it off, there are other factors involved, one of which is your mindset. The Bible says, "As a man thinks, so he is", which illustrates the power of the mind. The more we believe we cannot do something, the less likely we are to be able to. There is more to this than your woo-woo message of thinking positive thoughts; those things are important. The most important thing is this. Why are you doing it? Once you've found the answer, keep asking questions, keep exploring the why's The list is long, but as you go through them one by one, you realise, oh, I can do that, then you naturally focus on the things you can do, rather than a long list of things you can't do.     JUST TELL ME WHAT TO EAT... Whether chicken and broccoli taste good or tell me I have to eat them every week doesn't matter to me. As long as I lose weight, I'm fine with it. I just need to lose weight quickly, so if it means eating the same thing 5 days in a row, then I will do it. Sounds familiar, right? I used to tell myself this all the time. I used to think that eating the same bland meal every day would help me lose fat fast. As long as someone told me what to eat, and when my last meal could be, I was willing to do anything. Even if I was hungry, I was willing to wait until the next day. Could it be the magic pill? A MEAL PLAN The scripted detailed diet plan tells you what to eat and what not to eat every day & is supposed to help you lose weight. In this episode, we talk about meal plans and why I, as a coach, do not prescribe meal plans to my clients, so if meal plans are what you want, I'm likely not the right coach for you. You don't need joe blogs on the internet telling you what to eat, because, in the end, they just tell you to eat copious amounts of protein, egg whites, and dry foods you don't enjoy. When they find out you had a cheat day, they make you feel guilty and make you work twice as hard to get back on track. That's not it! If you have a trainer like this, get a new one!
