You may have heard it said that: "No weapon formed against you shall prosper."That's actually from Isaiah 54:17 when it says:"No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD." - Isaiah 54:17But a friend of mine turned it around recently and said, "make sure you are not the weapon formed against yourself" because sometimes we can be our own worst enemy with all our negative self talk and bad decisions. Sometimes we develop a negative self-image because we are the ones who have to live with our own flaws and failures. But our Heavenly Father doesn't want us to treat ourselves badly or give up — He wants us to see ourselves the way that He sees us. We aren't perfect. We sometimes feel scared, embarrassed, or unsure. In fact, with everything going on in life, it can sometimes seem impossible to just get along with ourselves. But through Jesus Christ and the help of the Holy Spirit, we can find strength and hope, find strength to conquer our weaknesses, and become more like Him each and every day.

Most people don't realize they are their own worst enemy. They go through life the same expecting different results. People hold on to their pain and re-live it by the power they give to the memories. Although the experience itself is old, the memories remain fresh, because people hold on to the pain and are still affected by it, as if they are currently going through it. This is self-inflicted pain.

Everyone is telling us to do what makes us happy that we pursue our true selves. That is horrible advice. That flies in the face of what Paul said about the church in Colossae. We must realize that the biggest obstacle in our way as we pursue Christlikeness is ourselves. We have to fight against our very own nature. Devotionables #358: Colossians 3

Shaun of the Dead, and most zombie movies, bring home the truth that such stories often tell. They often portray civilized life as damning and even deadening. (It's notable that Night of the Living Dead begins in a graveyard. It's notable that the zombies in both versions of Dawn of the Dead shamble to the shopping mall.) The civilization zombies destroy is already infected. The stories we tell about them offer a dark fantasy of escape, a return to a simpler, if more brutal, existence. One of the beautiful features of revolting horror movies is their liberation from the need to offer any positive resolution or benign anthropology. Though comedies tell a deep truth about eschatological hope, horror movies speak a prophetic, if unwelcome, word about our predilection toward evil. In this way, the horror genre may be closer to the Christian worldview than we may like to admit. Instead of vain trust in the kindness of strangers, zombie movies are often more honest about our unredeemed spiritual state. This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with Journal author Phil Tallon about his online-exclusive, “Our Own Worst Enemy: Zombie Movies and the Horror of Human Sin“. https://www.equip.org/articles/our-own-worst-enemy-zombie-movies-and-the-horror-of-human-sin/Locked articles are online exclusive content that are only available to subscribers. Meet Heather: a CORE member of The 5% Community best known for her support of others, but also her own inside-out transformation and continuous success since joining. Heather joined The 5% Community because she was tired of losing weight just to gain it back. She knew what to do in order to lose and maintain my weight, but most of the problem was in her own head.  She wanted to get a better understanding of that part and change her ways to be the best version of herself! As a busy mother of two and business owner, Heather still managed to put herself first in many areas, but unfortunately, not in areas that had a high ROI - think: being married to calorie tracking and food logging, and focusing on food and exercise on repeat. Not much else! With a solid dieting resume and acknowledging she was her own worst enemy, Heather reached a point where she recognized something needed to change and that this time, it was her - and her approach to getting where she wanted to be.  Can you relate? Fast-forward to today, and Heather has amassed a long list of transformational, lasting changes inside and out! Not only is she CRUSHING half and full marathons and deadlifting 250+ pounds for reps, but in the past year she's also… Rebuilt her relationship with food, dieting, and exercise Significantly elevated her self-worth, self-esteem, and self-confidence Improved her confidence and mental fortitude Elevated positive thinking to her new default (after a long history of operating from a place of negativity) Significantly improved her relationship with the scale, which used to stress her out daily and impact her mood, energy, and self-worth In today's episode, Heather shares her transformational story with us, including the challenges, highs, and lows each step of the way!  If you want LIFETIME access to The 5% Community (seriously) and the exact blueprint, resources, coaching, Community, and accountability Heather had to help her undergo this incredible inside-out transformation, click here to schedule a call with me to learn more.  Episode Key Highlights: Learn how feeling overweight and unhappy with herself from as far back as 10 set the tone and trajectory for Heather's relationship with food, dieting, and the scale … and how it shaped who she is today. Discover relatable struggles Heather has with the scale and how it impacted not only her, but her day, and her family. Relate to the tumultuous relationship Heather had with diet and food and how she was often her own worst enemy and harshest critic. Feel inspired by the consistency in her action and willingness to bet on herself to make positive changes by placing one foot forward at a time! You wouldn't take advice from someone you have never met or spoken to directly, right?   If you were bleeding profusely, you wouldn't listen to a podcast in hopes of a bandage somehow materializing over the internet and onto your 3D printer.  Seeking actual legal advice can be just as important as a tourniquet.  The hosts of this podcast are in no way intending to create an attorney-client relationship with any listener.  Sorry.  We are sure you all are great people but we cannot stress enough how little we know of you and your case and rather than risk an awkward moment, let us just remember we have never met.  Nothing on this platform be taken as legal advice for any individual case or situation!  We are just a group of friends with differing opinions and viewpoints which we will try to explore through discussions of current events, law changes, and whatever else floats our fancy.

Have you ever heard of the saying that Your Worst Enemy Could Be Your Best Friend? This is the central question for today's podcast and something that has confused and bothered Sophia for a while. I'm sure most of our Big Dreamers can relate to that too!    In this episode, Sophia will share the story of riding the biggest rollercoaster she has ever seen in her life: the fear she felt leading up to the ride and the four strategies she used to overcome her worries, all of which ultimately allowed her to find joy in the supposedly scary rollercoaster ride!      This episode will also see a new challenge for all of us Big Dreamers, inspired by one of our favorite quotes, which many attribute to former first lady and well-loved humanitarian Eleanor Roosevelt: "Do one thing everyday that scares you." We know how "everyday" seems like a huge task, so let's start small! Try a new thing for at least for three days, something you are unsure of and scares you.    Let us know about your experience by emailing us at olga@dreambigpodcast.com.      Slam the Gavel welcomes Sandra Speer, Ph.D. to the show. Inflammation is the body's natural immune response to injury, infection, or other foreign substances. When the immune system detects something that's out of place in your body, it creates antibodies to help protect you against any harmful invaders. However, when the immune system overreacts and starts attacking healthy tissues instead of foreign cells, this is referred to as inflammation. If left unchecked, inflammation can lead to serious health conditions like heart disease, arthritis, cancer and more. Thankfully, there are a few ways you can help keep inflammation at bay... Tune in and learn how inflammation is both friend and foe, plus what you can do about it.

If you wear a certain fragrance, people will perceive you as 12 pounds thinner. That's just one of many fascinating things I discuss about your sense of smell in the first segment of this episode. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2011/02/scents We are all learning all the time. But have you ever thought about HOW you learn? Maybe you can learn better if you did it differently. One person who has thoroughly researched the topic of learning is Scott Young, author of the book UltraLearning: Master Hard Skills, Outsmart the Competition, and Accelerate Your Career (https://amzn.to/2yCu4cF). Scott joins me to discuss the best and worst ways to learn anything and how you can learn better. What earthly creature is the deadliest to humans? It's the mosquito! The mosquito has killed more people than any other creature. It is not that the mosquito itself is so deadly, it is what it carries with it. Tim Winegard, a professor of history and political science at Colorado Mesa University and author of the book The Mosquito: A Human History of Our Deadliest Predator (https://amzn.to/31pWnHV) joins me to offer a fascinating exploration of how the mosquito has changed the course of history in ways you never knew. We've all faked a smile. People have even said that faking a smile will actually make you feel happier when you are down. Or could it be that faking a smile when you can actually make you feel worse? Listen and find out what the research says. http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2011-02/msu-sfa022211.php PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS! We really like The Jordan Harbinger Show!
