In "Call of the Day," Hillary from Long Island sparks a lively debate by asking BT and Sal what Lindor was saying to Alonso after his home run and before his next at-bat, speculating on whether it was motivational or strategic. The conversation then pivots to a caller named Chris, who draws parallels between the initial skepticism surrounding new Warriors coach Mike Brown and Joe Torre's 1996 Yankees hire, leading to a discussion on managerial success and fan expectations. Finally, Alex calls in to air his grievances with Yankees manager Aaron Boone's recent decisions regarding lineup construction and in-game management, specifically criticizing Boone's handling of star players and critical at-bats.

Boomer & Gio are out this week so today it's Jerry and Willie Colon. We started with the Subway Series and how the Mets threw out a bunch of no name pitchers to face Max Fried, and it almost worked. If Cody Bellingers doesn't make that amazing catch and then doubles up Lindor at first. It saved the game for sure. Carlos Mendoza was tossed in the ninth yesterday because of the horrendous strike calls. Pete Alonso will not be doing the HR derby as he wants to enjoy the all star festivities. Juan Soto was not voted to the all star game and some see it as a snub. C-Lo is here for his first update of the day and we heard Dave Sims on the call for the Bellinger catch. The Yankees snapped a 6-game losing streak. Mendoza talked about getting tossed. Evan Roberts is in Paris for vacation and posted some videos about the Mets win on Friday. He also did a Rico Brogna podcast from France. Al is going to Montana next week and has nothing planned. Jerry said he came across professional pillow fighting. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Aaron Boone and the Yankees as they're going through this bad stretch (not counting the win yesterday). It does not seem like the Yankees are going to run away with the East.
Hour 1 - Boomer & Gio are out this week, so Jerry Recco and Willie Colon hosted, starting with the Subway Series, where the Mets nearly beat the Yanks if not for Cody Bellinger's incredible catch. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was tossed arguing bad strike calls, and Pete Alonso is skipping the HR Derby. Juan Soto's All-Star snub was also a topic. C-Lo gave his first update, including Dave Sims' call of the Bellinger catch, as the Yankees snapped a six-game losing streak. Evan Roberts is vacationing in Paris, posting Mets win videos and a Rico Brogna podcast. Al is off to Montana with no plans, and Jerry discovered professional pillow fighting. The hour concluded by discussing Aaron Boone and the Yankees' struggles, suggesting they won't run away with the AL East. Hour 2 - A caller to Sal Licata blamed WFAN and the media for players struggling in New York, citing their success after leaving. Willie Colon shared his own experiences with media criticism during his time with the Jets and in Pittsburgh. C-Lo then delivered an update, highlighting the Yankees' win over the Mets, including another Aaron Judge home run and Cody Bellinger's impressive catch and double play. There was also a segment on Anthony Volpe's father confronting fans in the stands who were criticizing his son, with audio of Sal's exchange with the caller on player criticism. The hour concluded with a caller mentioning Montana's attractions, specifically that you can drive to North and South Dakota from there. Hour 3 - The show continued its discussion on player criticism, especially for high-salaried athletes, balancing expectations with the reality of performance. Upcoming Jets and Giants seasons, with Aaron Rodgers' Week 1 return to MetLife, were also reviewed. C-Lo delivered an update, but not before Jerry and a caller had a brief argument. Evan Roberts recorded a "Rico Brogna" podcast from Paris while scoring a game at the airport, and Pete Alonso will be in the All-Star game but not the HR Derby. The hour ended with Jerry introducing a guessing game about an X post and a conversation with the new intern. Hour 4 - The show covered Starling Marte's injury and the Mets' anticipated return of Sean Manaea and Kodai Senga, while Jerry noted a lack of buzz for the Subway Series. The Knicks still haven't held a press conference for new head coach Mike Brown. A humorous discussion ensued about social norms regarding public attire. C-Lo's final update focused on the Yankees' win over the Mets, featuring Cody Bellinger's excellent defense. Other topics included Keith Hernandez's recent success with a plunger, Joe Benigno's seemingly too-early 5 AM Saturday show, and "The Moment of The Day" highlighting Al's unplanned Montana trip. The segment concluded with Jerry feeling "fleeced."

BT and Sal are locked in a fiery debate over the New York Yankees' recent struggles, with BT emphatically declaring the team "done" for the season and pushing for a drastic "sell-off" of veteran players to rebuild. He argues that the Yankees are fundamentally "built wrong" and that their current poor play is not a mirage but a deep-seated issue, attributing blame to the organization's inability to adapt and owner Hal Steinbrenner's perceived lack of accountability, even calling for the immediate firing of Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone. Sal, while acknowledging the team's significant flaws and frustrations, maintains a sliver of hope, believing the Yankees can still turn things around, win their division, and make a deep playoff run, despite the recent rough patch and concerns about pitching and defensive consistency.
In the fiery final hour of Monday's show, BT and Sal dive deep into the New York baseball landscape, with a strong focus on the Yankees' perplexing struggles and the Mets' recent resilience. Sal unleashes a passionate critique of the Yankees' organizational approach, lambasting their analytical over-management, inconsistent lineups, and misplacement of promising young talent like Jasson Dominguez and Jazz Chisholm. They debate Aaron Boone's perceived lack of transparency and whether his public statements align with the team's true state, with callers adding to the intense discussion about the Yankees' current "organizational malpractice." The Mets, having taken two out of three in the Subway Series, are seen as weathering a storm and potentially turning a corner, even as both hosts acknowledge the ongoing challenges facing both New York clubs and question their respective All-Star considerations.
Show Open: Brian Cashman did a great job building this Yankee roster post Juan Soto. The Roster is good enough, and will be better with a could of deadline moves. However, Aaron Boone is holding the team back and causing them to fail. The Yankees have no leader and no fire.

Sal Licata sits down with former New York Yankee and current YES analyst John Flaherty to dissect the struggling Yankees, just ahead of a Subway Series matchup. The fiery discussion touches on everything from the team's questionable bullpen and defensive issues with players like Ben Rice and Anthony Volpe, to the strategic baffling decision by opposing teams to pitch to Aaron Judge. Flaherty, with his extensive experience, offers sharp insights into the Yankees' current woes and what moves they might need to make at the trade deadline, all while playfully jabbing at Aaron Boone's "lanes" lingo and sharing a quick, humorous anecdote about David Cone.
Sal Licata criticizes the Yankees' team structure, arguing that their primary issue lies not with individual players or manager Aaron Boone, but with the fundamental way the team is built and the front office's mindset. He believes the Yankees overvalue power and launch angle, leading to a lack of balanced "baseball players" who can hit for average, run, field, and throw. Licata highlights a deficiency in player development and a belief within the organization that they are better than they are, often relying on numbers instead of observation, which has led to a cycle of expecting different results from the same flawed approach. He expresses frustration over the team's historical inability to make necessary adjustments to their roster construction, citing examples like the Giancarlo Stanton acquisition and the failure to trade prospects when their value was highest.

In Episode 102 of Chase for 28, Chris and the Podcast Padre react to another lukewarm week in Yankees baseball, where the team holds a slim lead in the AL East despite continued offensive struggles. The episode opens with a trivia victory, dips into De Niro's Frankenstein of all things, and quickly pivots into hard-hitting analysis of player performances and managerial trends. The duo breaks down Spencer Jones' promotion to Triple-A, criticizes Anthony Volpe's play and discusses George Lombard Jr.'s rise to the Yankees' top prospect. They also revisit a familiar frustration—how the Yankees consistently underperform during the summer months under Aaron Boone. Will shaking up the lineup or a fiery dugout ejection finally spark the team?Key Topics Covered:✅ Yankees' current record: 46-34 (0.5 game lead in AL East)
00:00-20:00: Yankees have become a puppet show. ML explains.
Hour 4: Pete Alonso is the Big Shot of the Night, he carried the Mets to their win. Carlos Mendoza reacts to the Griffin Canning injury and the Mets rallying to win. Keith explains why Aaron Boone's decision to remove Schmidt was different than the decision to remove Rodon.
Hour 3: Dexter Henry and Rami Lavi talk NBA Draft and Knicks coaching search. Carlos Mendoza has done what Aaron Boone has not. The Knicks make a draft pick, when will they pick a coach? Plus, Jazz Chisholm has to have a cooler head.
BT and Sal vehemently debate Aaron Boone's decision to pull Carlos Rodón early from his start, despite Rodón pitching well and still hitting high velocities. While Boone cited Rodón being "gassed" in extreme heat, BT argues that Rodón's sustained fastball velocity indicated he wasn't truly fatigued and should have been allowed to continue, especially given the Yankees' struggles and bullpen's recent unreliability. They question the communication between player and manager and whether Boone's caution is ultimately hurting the team's chances, especially with the Yankees in a rough stretch.
BT and Sal emphasize that the upcoming Subway Series is far more than just a cross-town rivalry given the current struggles of both the Mets and Yankees. With both New York teams heading in the wrong direction, this holiday weekend clash takes on the desperate feel of a playoff series, where each fanbase will revel in the potential to further sink their rival's season. They highlight the precarious positions of both managers, suggesting that a poor showing could lead to serious job security questions, particularly for Yankees manager Aaron Boone if their current rut continues against the Blue Jays and then the Mets. For the Mets, while projections for their division chances have plummeted, the series offers a chance to show character and potentially get their season back on track, especially with key players returning from injury.

Did Aaron Boone killed the Yankees chance at coming back and winning on Monday Night?
BT and Sal are fired up discussing the New York Yankees' recent loss to the Reds, a frustrating game characterized by an alarming 11 strikeouts and only one walk. They lament the Yankees' persistent offensive issues, particularly their inability to capitalize on runners in scoring position, a problem they argue is a recurring theme rooted in the team's overreliance on analytics and a consistent lineup of similar, high-whiff players. Despite Aaron Judge's continued pursuit of the Triple Crown, the hosts express serious concern about the team's overall approach and manager Aaron Boone's questionable lineup decisions, questioning whether the Yankees truly understand how to win consistently beyond just compiling regular season victories.

On this week's episode, Chase begins by venting his frustration at Aaron Boone for pulling Clarke Schmidt after seven no-hit innings against the Orioles on Saturday. From there, we discuss Cal Raleigh's latest history making week, Ron Washington's leave of absence from the Angels, Mark Walter's purchase of the Lakers, and the newest potential buyer of the Rays. To wrap up, we look at suspensions to Mike Schildt, Dave Roberts, and Dennis Santana, and look at the fallout of the Rafael Devers trade.
BT and Sal unleash their fury at Aaron Boone's questionable decision to bench Anthony Volpe the day after the young shortstop finally broke out of a prolonged hitless streak with a huge three-hit performance. They question the logic of adhering to a "scheduled day off" when a player is clearly finding his rhythm and confidence, arguing that such analytical rigidity undermines player development and momentum, especially for a struggling young talent. The hosts express disbelief at Boone's unwillingness to deviate from pre-planned rotations, even when it directly contradicts what's best for a player attempting to turn his season around.

Nick Castellanos was benched for "inappropriate comments" made to manager Rob Thomson, prompting discussion on managerial authority, with Gio wondering if Aaron Boone would do the same. This occurred as the Yankees suffered their third consecutive shutout loss, extending their scoreless streak to 29 innings. Other news included Russell Wilson's commitment to practice, the Panthers winning their second straight Stanley Cup, and the Jets signing a 243-pound USFL kicker. The segment ended with old tweets of BT criticizing Boomer's suits resurfacing.

WNBA tensions between the Fever and Sun over Caitlin Clark were discussed, alongside a phys ed teacher's struggles with scoliosis tests. Nick Castellanos was benched last night because he said something to Manager Rob Thomson that crossed the line. Gio wondered if Aaron Boone would do that if he was in the same situation. Boomer compared this situation in Philly to a position he was in with the Bengals and Sam Wyche. Gio thinks maybe we're seeing a turn where managers won't let players walk all over them.
