Editor: Wilson County News readers were again treated to some “blathers” from Jose Caballero. The subject was that Joe Biden's cabinet was not made up of “Old White Men.” On that point, he was correct. Joe used “identity politics” to make most selections for cabinet positions. Joe Biden's selections were of mediocratic ability at best and generally totally incompetent. In contrast, President-elect Trump is using meritocracy to pick his cabinet selections and will have a very competent cabinet. Most of our citizenry will be much happier with Trump's picks. The Tampa Bay Rays took Tuesday's game in walk-off fashion by an Amed Rosario dribbler to third base that Anthony Rendon could not get the throw to first on time. The game ended 7-6 but most of the damage was done from the 9th inning on as the Rays were trailing 3-1 with two out in the 9th inning when Jose Caballero came through with a 2-run triple to maintain the Rays alive. Aaron Civale had a quality start for the Rays while the bullpen covered 7 innings allowing 3 unearned runs.Let us know what you think of this series in the comments!Follow Kevin Weiss @KevinWeiss_Follow Ulises Sambrano @SambranoUlisesFollow the show @LockedOnRaysFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
The Tampa Bay Rays took their first win of their three-game series against Los Angeles Angels 6-4. Aaron Civale allowed a two-run bomb to Mike Trout in the first inning but settled down and that would be the only time he would get hurt by the Angels. The Rays offense showed up with a big game from Jose Caballero, collecting three hits, José Siri with a big double and Isaac Paredes providing the power with a shot to left field. The Tampa Bay Rays have started the 2024 season by splitting a four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Canadian team took the bookend victories while the Rays took the middle games. Tyler Alexander wasn't so lucky facing a very right-handed lineup. Sho Alli and Julia Kreuz break down the Blue Jays' 5-1 loss to the Rays at Tropicana Field. They take your calls and texts, and get to the lack of offence - are the echoes of 2023 too similar to what people have gotten through three games in 2024? They chat about the Génesis Cabrera scuffle with Jose Caballero, Justin Turner pinch-hitting late in the game, and Bo Bichette's defence through the first few games. Plus, Yusei Kikuchi only goes 4.1 IP, and Ernie Clement shines defensively - should he get more run as the team's third baseman? MLBTR writer Steve Adams joins Darragh McDonald to discuss the Dodgers grabbing more headlines by signing Teoscar Hernandez, and a flurry of moves including the Marniers sending Robbie Ray to the Giants for Mitch Haniger and Anthony DeSclafani, acquiring Luke Raley from the Rays for Jose Caballero and the Rays then trading Andrew Kittredge to St. Louis for Richie Palacios. Listener email questions include whether teams deferring significant money is a problem for the sport, how deferrals are not a new concept in baseball and if a salary floor would help competitiveness.

Fantasy Baseball Live – January 7, 2024 – 3 pm.Segment 1 – Breaking down Rich's NFBC DraftSegment 2 – News and Notes1.The Mariners rebuild their outfielda. The Mariners trade Robbie Ray to the Giants and received former Mariner, OF Mitch Haniger, and RHP Anthony Desclafanib. They also acquired Luke Raley from the Rays in exchange for Jose Caballero.c.Questions:i.So long, farewell to Dominic Canzone and Cade Marlowe. What do you think about the rebuilt outfield?ii.Who gets the ABs in SF and Tampa with Raley and Haniger moving on?iii.Who will get Haniger's playing time in San Francisco?iv.RosterResource is showing Caballero as the starting SS, but there are splits vs. RHP with him. I'm inclined to give the nod to Walls. However, will it matter for either? Will either get enough PT to draft them in fantasy league for 2023.v.Desclafini ADP is 439. Does this feel about right, too low, too high?2.The Mets did a very Un-Mets signing. They went small, signing Harrison Bader to a one-year deal. With Ronnie Mauricio lost for a good part of the season, they needed an outfielder and Bader is it. There is speed and great defense, but the data doesn't show much power at all. He does swing with a lot of loft, but it's hard to see more than a handful of home runs. Also, he hasn't been able to stay healthy since 2019. What's your take?Segments 3 and 4 – Shortstop Preview1.How are you approaching this position for your upcoming drafts?2.We will break down the top 15 to 20 in detail. Then, go through 20 to 30 in less detail. We will end by jumping around the remaining ranked players.3.Which player not in the Top 10 has a chance to emerge there next season?4.Which Top 10 player will not be there next season?5.Give me a couple of sleepers6.Give me one, maybe two guys you are just going to avoid drafting?CloseThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3306394/advertisement
