Avez-vous déjà imaginé à quel point notre perception des animaux sauvages pourrait changer si nous apprenions à les connaître de près ? Cette semaine sur Follow Me, nous avons le plaisir de recevoir Philippe Gillet, un herpétologue passionné et engagé pour la cause animale. Philippe a passé une grande partie de sa jeunesse, pendant près de 30 ans, en Afrique centrale, où il a développé un lien profond avec la faune locale. À son retour en France, en 1983, il a conçu un concept pédagogique interactif pour sensibiliser les gens à l'importance de la protection animale. Philippe, âgé de 71 ans, possède une expérience de plusieurs décennies dans l'étude et la préservation des reptiles, amphibiens et arthropodes. Il est le fondateur d'Inf-faune qu'il crée en 1996. Il s'agit d'une association qui œuvre pour la démystification et la protection des espèces souvent mal comprises et injustement craintes par le grand public. Concrètement, il propose des formations, dispose d'un refuge pour protéger ces animaux, et organise et intervient dans divers événements qui servent cette cause qu'il défend. Philippe fait partie des rares personnes de son âge à faire des ravages sur les réseaux sociaux. Son travail, la transmission de la connaissance, est suivi par des centaines de milliers de personnes, majoritairement des jeunes qui ne cherchent qu'à comprendre. Avec des vidéos telles que Nourrissage de Gator et Adriana !, Tortue alligator ou encore Présentation d'un de nos cobras cracheurs ! qui atteignent facilement les millions de vues, Philippe a su captiver son audience et compte 517 000 abonnés sur TikTok, 163 000 followers sur Facebook, 18 100 followers sur Instagram et plus de 17 000 abonnés sur YouTube. Dans cet épisode, Philippe partage avec nous des histoires fascinantes de son enfance en Afrique, où il côtoyait la nature sauvage sans barrières ni préjugés. Il nous parle de son approche respectueuse et éducative envers les animaux, souvent craints à tort, et de la nécessité de changer notre regard sur eux. Philippe insiste sur l'importance de la connaissance pour contrer la destruction des espèces et milite pour une coexistence harmonieuse avec la nature. Un épisode inspirant qui nous invite à réfléchir sur notre relation avec le monde animal et l'impact de nos actions sur l'environnement. -------
