Recorded May 21, 2026 In this road-show episode of Off the Rails, the crew broadcasts live (from the same room, even) from NWMET in Salt Lake City, surrounded by too many laptops, too many cables, travel fatigue, and the kind of improvised conference setup that makes AV people both proud and deeply ashamed. The conversation starts with two cheerful reminders that everything is temporary: digital signage may be "dead," meeting room appliances may be next, and anything running on abandoned Android builds is probably just waiting to become tomorrow's security problem. From there, the group digs into the real higher-ed pain points behind cloud-managed signage, appliance lifecycles, accessibility requirements, captioning, and why "cheap and fast" usually leaves "good" bleeding out behind the rack. They also recap NWMET itself, including the executive summit, AI sessions, accessibility discussions, vendor floor discoveries, oversized displays, strange LED signage widgets, USB bridge boxes, and one especially baffling speaker deployment that may or may not have been designed during a bad trip. It's a conference recap, a product roast, and a warning label for anyone who thinks AV support can be handled entirely from a browser tab. As massage therapists, we use our sense of touch every day, but how do we know what we are feeling with our hands? Nicole Trombley and Rachelle Clauson break down the art of recognizing the tissues we touch by examining what palpation is, exploring how our hands are perfectly equipped for the task, and discussing the "touch dialogue" that starts from the very first contact. Segment 1: Zendaya continues to feed the rumors that she and Tom Holland were secretly married. The “Euphoria” star was seen wearing what appears to be a wedding ring to the premiere of her new film, “The Drama”. She previously appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying that even some of her close friends were disappointed to NOT be invited to the wedding, which evidently didn't happen. Or did it? Segment 2: Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco spent time on the beach following criticism of Blanco's dirty feet. Gomez posted a pic of them posing for a puckered-up selfie in front of a giant poster of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in “Wuthering Heights,” in a sun-filled living room overlooking a body of water. Hopefully, Benny dipped those dirty feet of his in the WATER. Segment 3: Jennifer Lopez was performing at her Las Vegas residency show when she tripped on stage at the Colisseum at Caesar's Palace while performing her 2011 hit “On the Floor.” Lopez, 56, was wearing a sparkly, black bodysuit with a giant red rose broach, when she went to kick her leg up and tripped. She's lucky her ASS didn't end up “ON THE FLOOR.” Segment 4: Harry Styles and Zoe Kravitz seem to be getting serious. Yep. Despite them previously saying that they were “not exclusive”, they appear to be finding more time to be together. The couple was recently seen strolling around New York City arm in arm. Looks like Harry's celebrating his #1 album, ‘Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally' with his…AMERICAN GIRL. Segment 5: Michael B Jordan won the Best Actor Oscar for “Sinners” and he credited past winners that came before him like Sidney Poitier and Halle Berry. Jessie Buckley became the first Irish actress to win the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in “Hamnet.” If you haven't seen “Hamnet” yet, make sure you have plenty of TISSUES on hand. What? No. I'm not crying. Segment 6: Dead Or Alive: Adrian Grenier is best known as the lead in the hit HBO series “Entourage” that ran from 2004 to 2011. Dead Or Alive? ALIVE. Grenier appeared in the 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada” opposite Anne Hathaway but he was NOT asked to join the upcoming sequel. Grenier is now better known as WHO? Segment 7: Doja Cat revealed she's struggling with borderline personality disorder. She said, quote, “I've learned from a very young age to pretend that I like stuff, to pretend that I'm happy, to appear like everything is okay. I'm now struggling with borderline personality disorder”. Unquote. She has been touring for months so WHICH personality did fans SEE? Segment 8: Ariana Madix will return to host “Love Island” Season 8 on June 2nd, from Fiji. Plus, NBC Universal streamer Peacock will air “Love Island: Beyond The Villa” which will premiere April 15th. Madix used to be a bartender at SUR in West Hollywood before appearing on the reality show ‘Vanderpump Rules'. This all proves that people love to watch CRAP. Segment 9: Steve Carrell, best known for “The Office” stars in “Rooster”, which was HBO's most-watched comedy premiere in the U.S. in 10 years. It reached 2.4 million U.S. cross-platform viewers in the first three days and SINCE then, the audience for “Rooster” has grown four times since premiere night. Grown FOUR times? That's what SHE said. Segment 10: Idiot Of The Week – Bethenny Frankel sliced her face open while trying a new beauty tool. The former “Real Housewives of New York City” star filmed the aftermath of the incident and shared it as a warning to her followers on social media. Holding a bloody wipe to her face to stop the gashes along her jaw from bleeding, she continues to be a bonified IDIOT! Segment 11: Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's black stratocaster sold for a HUGE amount of money. The guitar Gilmore played on such classics as “Money” and “Comfortably Numb” sold at Christie's for a whopping 14 million, 550 thousand dollars. The pre-auction estimate was between 2 and 4 million, so those estimators must have been from the dark side of the moon… Segment 12: 101 Studios, the producers of “Landman” and “Yellowstone,” has acquired rights to “Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic,” a memoir by Bunnie Xo, aka MRS JELLYROLL. The best seller explores her rags-to-riches journey from a Las Vegas trailer park to media mogul-hood as the founder of Dumb Blonde Productions. She's now Jelly-Rollin' in cash. Segment 13: Larry David's HBO comedy series, “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America” will satirize the United States in celebration of its 250th anniversary. It will also feature fellow Curb Your Enthusiasm regulars Jeff Garlin, JB Smoove and Susie Essman, and will premiere June 26th. PRETTY, PRETTY GOOD. Segment 14: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce DID get out to celebrate the Oscar parties in LA, but they were pretty hard to find. They mainly hung out at THE most exclusive Oscar party – Madonna's shindig at Manager Guy Oseary's house in the Hollywood Hills. But the power couple was also seen later sneaking into Beyonce and Jay Z's party at Chateau Marmot. Hmm. Are they hiding something? Segment 15 – Trash Bin: Kanye West has been ordered to pay his former project manager, Tony Saxon, following a lawsuit over the rapper's Malibu home. Saxon wasn't paid, was seriously injured, and was wrongfully terminated while working on West's 57 million dollar mansion. Though Saxon had asked for 1.7 MILLION in damages, he received ONLY 140 grand. Yé. Segment 16: News Wrap Up a) As the world becomes more cashless, there's a decreasing need for bank branches and ATM's. b) Amazon Prime will cost $4.99 a month in the U.S., up from $2.99, starting April 10th. c) Nintendo sold 2.2 million units of “Pokémon Pokopia” in the first four days after its release. d) Amazon owned Zoox has reached a partnership to offer its robotaxis on Uber's app. GADZOOKS, man. That's GOOD news! Segment 17: Number Ones – Hoppers, Harry Styles, Procreate Pocket, Judge Stone Segment 18: Song Of The Week – Alex Warren – “Fever Dream” Alex Warren’s night at the Grammys should have been a career high for him but INSTEAD, his performance of “Ordinary” was marred by technical difficulties. He tried to do his best but the delay caused him to be out of sync with the music track. He was so down that he was convinced he was finished in the music industry. He posted a video later explaining what happened, but deleted all his social media, not wanting to see people's comments. It turned out he received 60 million views and people were SUPPORTIVE. And now, Warren is back with a new track which we LOVE. Here's Alex Warren with the Song of the Week, “Fever Dream.” That was Alex Warren with the Song of the Week, “Fever Dream.” The post LA SPINZ – March 23 2026 appeared first on LA Spinz.

Healing is rarely about fixing a single tissue or structure. In this episode, Lisa Chase, PT, shares the frameworks from her new book, Be Responsible, Because the System Isn't, and describes why true recovery depends on the health of the entire system – from the nervous system and sleep to lifestyle, resilience, and capacity. When the whole system is robust, healing becomes possible. When it's not, symptoms simply move around. In this conversation, we discuss: Why pain and injury are often downstream expressions of system overload How nervous system regulation shapes recovery, inflammation, and resilience The Pyramid of Healing and moving beyond symptom management What it means to rebuild health instead of chasing relief How tools like movement, lifestyle changes, and technology fit into a whole-system model This episode is an invitation to rethink healing. It's not something that's done to you, nor is it something done in isolation. Rather, healing is something that emerges when the whole system is supported.

As we age, every tissue in the body undergoes gradual molecular changes. A long-standing question in aging research is whether these changes follow common patterns across tissues or whether each tissue ages on its own. While DNA-based “epigenetic clocks” can estimate age accurately across different tissues, identifying consistent patterns in gene expression has been much more challenging. One reason for this difficulty is methodology. Most studies focus on whether genes increase or decrease their expression levels with age. However, genes do not function in isolation. They operate within complex networks, coordinating their activity with many others. Changes in these relationships may be important aspects of the aging process. To understand this, researchers from the University of São Paulo performed a study titled “A combination of differential expression and network connectivity analyses identifies a common set of RNA splicing and processing genes altered with age across human tissues.” Full blog - https://aging-us.org/2026/01/a-common-aging-pattern-changes-in-rna-splicing-and-processing-across-human-tissues/ Paper DOI - https://doi.org/10.18632/aging.206347 Corresponding author - Nadja C. de Souza-Pinto - nadja@iq.usp.br Abstract video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1slKwaSd6g Sign up for free Altmetric alerts about this article - https://aging.altmetric.com/details/email_updates?id=10.18632%2Faging.206347 Subscribe for free publication alerts from Aging - https://www.aging-us.com/subscribe-to-toc-alerts Keywords - aging, gene expression, co-expression network analysis, RNA processing To learn more about the journal, please visit https://www.Aging-US.com and connect with us on social media at: Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/aging-us.bsky.social ResearchGate - https://www.researchgate.net/journal/Aging-1945-4589 Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/AgingUS/ X - https://twitter.com/AgingJrnl Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/agingjrnl/ YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@Aging-US LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/aging/ Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/AgingUS/ Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/1X4HQQgegjReaf6Mozn6Mc MEDIA@IMPACTJOURNALS.COM
BUFFALO, NY — January 5, 2026 — A new #research paper featured as the #cover of Volume 17, Issue 12 of Aging-US was #published on December 22, 2025, titled “A combination of differential expression and network connectivity analyses identifies a common set of RNA splicing and processing genes altered with age across human tissues.” In this study by Caio M.P.F. Batalha from the University of São Paulo, André Fujita from the University of São Paulo and Kyushu University, and Nadja C. de Souza-Pinto also from the University of São Paulo, researchers investigated how gene activity changes with age across multiple human tissues. They found that many tissues share common aging-related alterations in genes involved in RNA splicing and RNA processing. These findings are important because RNA processing is essential for accurate protein production, and disruptions in this process are linked to aging and disease. Aging affects all tissues, yet identifying molecular changes that are shared across the body has remained challenging. To address this, researchers moved beyond traditional approaches that focus exclusively on changes in gene expression levels. They also analyzed how genes alter their patterns of interaction within regulatory networks, capturing age-related changes that are not evident from expression data alone. “Gene expression data (in TPM – transcripts per million) were obtained from the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) project.” Using RNA sequencing data from nearly one thousand human donors aged 20 to 70, the research team analyzed eight tissues, including blood, brain, heart, skin, and muscle. The results showed that many aging-related changes become evident only when gene network behavior is considered. When gene expression and network connectivity were analyzed together, a consistent group of genes emerged across tissues, most of which were linked to RNA splicing and RNA processing, key steps in the production of functional proteins. The study also revealed that these RNA-related genes are highly interconnected at the protein level. Many of them form known protein complexes, including components of the spliceosome, which plays a central role in RNA maturation. With age, the interactions among these genes tend to reorganize in similar ways across tissues, pointing to a shared biological response rather than independent, tissue-specific effects. In addition to RNA processing, the researchers observed age-related changes in pathways involved in managing damaged RNAs and proteins, including protein degradation, autophagy, and DNA damage response mechanisms. These pathways support cellular quality control and help limit the accumulation of molecular errors that increase with age. Overall, this study identifies RNA splicing and RNA processing as central, conserved features of human aging across tissues. It also demonstrates that network-based approaches provide a more complete view of the aging transcriptome, offering new insights into age-related biological changes and potential directions for aging research. Dr. Martin Picard, PhD, is a professor of behavioral medicine at Columbia University and an expert on how our behaviors and psychology shape cellular energy production and rates of aging. He explains that your mitochondria don't just “make energy”; they translate what you do—your mindset and your relationships—into the energy you experience as vitality or lack thereof. He explains how exercise, nutrition, sleep, meditation, and even certain thought patterns and our sense of purpose can charge our cells like batteries. He also shares findings that hair greying is the result of cellular stress and is reversible. Contributor: Travis Barlock, MD Educational Pearls: Quick Statistics on Electrical Burns: Electrical burns compose roughly 2 to 9% of all burns that come into emergency departments. The majority of patients who receive electrical burns are male, typically aged 20's to 30's, accounting for 80 to 90% of all electrical burn victims. The majority of burns are linked to occupational exposure. The upper extremities are more commonly impacted by electrical burns, accounting for 70 to 90% of entry points into the body during an exposure. What are some of the key considerations in electrical burns? Unlike chemical or fire/heat related burns, electrical burns have the potential to cause significant internal damage that may not be physically appreciated externally. This damage can include, but is not limited to: Cardiac dysthymias (PVCs, SVT, AV block, to more serious ventricular dysrhythmias such as ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia). Deep tissue injury resulting in rhabdomyolysis from the initial surge of electricity Rare cases of compartment syndrome What are the treatment considerations for patients who suffer electrical burns? Remembering that cutaneous findings associated with burns may underestimate the severity of the injury, with deeper structures being more likely to be involved as the voltage of the burn injury is directly correlated to severity. Manage the patient's airway, breathing, and circulation as always, and conduct further workup into potential cardiac involvement with EKGs, as well as analysis of the extremities where entry occurred for muscle breakdown and compartment syndrome. Clinical Pearl on Voltage and Current: Voltage can be thought of being equivalent to pressure in a fluid/liquid system. Higher voltages are equivalent to higher pressures, but the ultimate damage delivered to the system is from the rate of delivery/speed of the electrical energy surging (current) through the body. Current is dependent on the tissue it is travelling through, with different tissues having differing electrical resistances. Tissues like the stratum corneum of the skin and the human bone confer the most resistance (thus lower current) whereas skeletal muscle confers lower electrical resistance (thus higher current) due to water and electrolyte content, which is why injuries like rhabdomyolysis are possible and increase with increasing voltage. In episode #91 of The Weekly Bioanalysis, John and Dom return to a two-person format to tackle the "gray areas" of bioanalysis, focusing on drug discovery, biomarkers, tissues, and emerging technologies. They discuss how traditional PK assay validation is highly standardized, but areas like early-stage discovery, biomarker qualification, and tissue analysis require more nuanced, fit-for-purpose approaches. A key theme is the need for flexibility and client collaboration, particularly when defining what constitutes validation versus qualification. The hosts emphasize how evolving technologies and commercially available reagents are enabling more streamlined, context-driven assays, though terminology differences—especially between U.S. and EU practices—continue to cause confusion. They close with a discussion on tissue assay limitations, particularly the inherent variability introduced during sample homogenization.“The Weekly Bioanalysis” is a podcast dedicated to discussing bioanalytical news, tools and services related to the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and biomarker industries. Every month, KCAS Bio will bring you another 60 minutes (or so) of friendly banter between our two finest Senior Scientific Advisors as they chat over coffee and discuss what they've learned about the bioanalytical world the past couple of weeks. “The Weekly Bioanalysis” is brought to you by KCAS Bio.KCAS Bio is a progressive growing contract research organization of well over 250 talented and dedicated individuals with growing operations in Kansas City, Doylestown, PA, and Lyon, France, where we are committed to serving our clients and improving health worldwide. It's another Expert Minisode! Did you know that when it comes to storing your reproductive tissue—including eggs, sperm, and embryos—you have a choice? Most clinics automatically store your tissues—or hand you off to their partner. But guess what? It doesn't have to be that way. Today, Ali is talking to Courtney Dennewitz, Chief Operations Officer and Co-Founder of Generations CryoVault, which is driven by a deep passion to “do things right” in the world of fertility preservation, armed with the motto, "Your Tissues, Your Choice." She also answers every question Ali could think of when it comes to fertility preservation, including, What safety and monitoring systems are in place at GenCryo? How is tissue protected in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as natural disasters or equipment failures? And how has cryostorage changed in the past few decades? "You might argue that we go a little overboard ensuring that they never warm, but we prefer to do more than necessary to avoid a heartbreaking disaster," Courtney says. In this episode, I explain what microplastics are, their prevalence in the human body and environment, and their common sources, as well as their potential negative health impacts. I provide practical strategies for limiting exposure to microplastics, nanoplastics, and endocrine disruptors such as bisphenol-A (BPA), bisphenol-S (BPS), phthalates, and PFAS ("forever chemicals"). Additionally, I discuss methods to enhance the body's detoxification and excretion of microplastics. By the end of this episode, you will have a clear understanding of the modern science of microplastics and their impact on human biology, along with actionable steps to minimize exposure and accumulation in the brain and body.
