Nick Cucci started his career working for college radio in NJ. In this episode you will hear how Nick went from local college radio to being the Senior Executive Director for the New York Chapter of the Recording Academy. The Recording Academy does so much for the music industry – the one thing you may recognize is that the Recording Academy produces the Grammy Awards.  Before the Recording Academy he held senior positions at Rough Trade Records, Columbia Records, RCA Records and MTV.Nick understands and has seen first-hand the impact that music has on all of our lives. It helps people through difficult times, we listen to it to celebrate milestones, and it is part of our everyday life. Nick has spent his career helping those whose passion and love of the music get their voices and instruments heard by the masses. This story truly is one that proves you really have no idea where your path will lead you and who you will meet along the way. Her credits include Journey, Ariana Grande, Moby, Kamasi Washington, KYGO, Deep Purple, Stevie Wonder, Cee-Lo Green, One Republic, Natalie Cole, John Legend, Halsey, Harry Connick Jr., Phil Lesh, Jelly Roll, BB Rexha, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Allison Wonderland. Last fall she joined the house band for the CMT show ‘Smashing Glass' where she performed with Clint Black, Chris Jensen, Lucy Silvas. Andrea has also recorded on many acclaimed albums, including Kendrick Lamar's Grammy Award-winning To Pimp a Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar's Damn, Kamasi Washington's The Epic and Harmony of Difference, Zucchero's Black Cat Live, Stu Hamm's Hold Fast, Blxst, Katie Gavin of Muna, and a PBS special with Shania Twain.   Set for August 2024, Andrea Whitt's next release is “Sleepwalk,” her take on the classic song by Santo & Johnny. Andrea's version dark, dreamy and ethereal, and sounds like what you'd get if Lana Del Rey played pedal steel. The “Sleepwalk” video was shot at the historic Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. Since most of her work is as a hired performer with other artists, when she has a release of her own, Andrea puts time and care into every facet of her artistry including styling her own wardrobe, artistic direction, and merch designs.   Determined and eager to explore new facets of creativity, Andrea wants her life to feel like the non-stop expression of Interlochen Arts Camp she went to growing up. In addition to music, she's a lifelong visual artist, having started drawing and painting when she was a toddler. Andrea is regularly commissioned for paintings in her signature ink and watercolor and oil painting styles. Much of her work can be found on her site, Boho Bunnie, which started as a fashion blog with recognition from press such as Marie Clare, Britt & Co and Free People. Modeling for the camera has “a similar type of energy” to performing on stage. The Boho Bunnie blog is morphing into a lifestyle brand, which produces products that inspire and encapsulate the fun, sexy, and expressive bohemian in all of us. She's now hard at work building the Boho Bunnie brand, which includes art prints, merch she has designed, fashion and a perfume line.   Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

The style of the undeniably talented bassist and composer, Ben Wolfe, is truly unique. His approach to music and performance has led to a path of development and success that can be attributed to collaborations with the likes of Harry Connick JR, Diana Krall and Wynton Marsalis.  Ben also distinguished himself through a significant catalogue of original music, including well over a hundred songs across ten albums as a leader.     With his 11th release titled “The Understated”, Ben presents a collection of new original compositions paired with the re-imaginings of some of his classic material. This album, with a particular emphasis on the ballad song-form, is a reflection of his philosophy that music is all about the sound of the band as ensemble players.    In this episode, our conversation explores Ben's musical journey, from a serendipitous experience of becoming a member of his school band playing tuba and trombone, to being a current faculty member at The Juilliard School of Music, an award-winning composer and critically acclaimed  musician.

"Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above; Don't fence me in. Let me ride through the wide open country that I love; Don't fence me in." Those words in the song "Don't Fence Me In" by Cole Porter and Robert Fletcher are beloved by many, and have been covered by the likes of: Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Willie Nelson, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr, David Byrne, and even Elle Fitzgerald. Often we are put in a box, made to check a box on a government form, or labeled by others, but is that really who we are? I for one don't like to be put in a box. When we believe others and allow ourselves to be put in boxes and labeled, our world narrows and we start believing things that aren't true. If we are to be our authentic self, we must learn to throw off the labels and judgement of others and ride under the starry skies above like a lone cowboy of the old west. In this episode I discuss how you can start doing that so you can start to hear the "murmur of the cottonwood trees" and "gaze at the moon till [you] lose your senses" without and hovels and fences. It was edited by Kelly Caldwell of Gotham Writers Group and Lambda Literary Award winner Donna Minkiewicz, who wrote Furious Romance and Growing Up Gollum. He has fronted several bands in New Orleans and New York, and has opened for internationally touring acts U2, Iggy Pop, Gang of Four, Ellen DeGeneres, and more. and the replacements, among many others. Lenny transitioned in junior high school and later attended NOCCA, the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, home to alumni such as Winton and Branford Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr., and Terrence Blanchard.
