Allie recaps her debate on “Jubilee” with former evangelical Monte Mader and looks into a common debate strategy called “Gish galloping.” This tactic involves overwhelming an opponent with multiple arguments and talking fast, making it impossible for them to reply to every claim brought up. Allie shows how this method was used by Mader during their debate and explains the best way to respond when it happens. Allie also looks into Mader's claims about the history of abortion and the church and gives a more in-depth response than the debate time allotted. Allie ends by discussing conspiracy theories surrounding the Lindsay Clancy case. Female TikTok users are spreading the idea that Lindsay Clancy's ex-husband is actually responsible for the murder of their three children — a theory that is not based in fact and helpful to no one. Allie looks at popular songs, books, and TV shows from the past few decades that display female victimhood culture and promote the idea that evil is just misunderstood; she shares her thoughts about how this way of thinking may be influencing how people view this case. She concludes by reminding listeners to not forget that the victims of this case are the children. Do you have a question for Allie? Leave a voicemail at 844-755-5252.
What do you do when you get everything you thought would fix you, and it doesn't?In this personal and honest message, Geoff shares the story of growing up with an insatiable need for approval, how that followed him into church, into ministry, into marriage, and how a word from an old theology textbook finally started to loosen its grip. That word is propitiation. It means a covering. And it means that at any moment, you can step out of the striving and stand under something that has already been done for you. This one goes deep. And it's worth the listen.
Mark Clermont is the CEO of Cecelia Health, and Wendi Mader is the company's Chief Commercial Officer. Cecelia is a virtual multi-specialty medical practice, licensed in all 50 states, that helps employers, payers, health systems, and life sciences companies manage chronic and cardiometabolic disease and bring down the cost of care. It's not a point solution. It's a medical practice that prescribes and manages medication (including GLP-1s, from prescribing through titration and side-effect management), runs intensive nutrition therapy, and handles behavior and lifestyle care, all through a team of RNs, RDs, certified diabetes educators, and physicians. The model is built to extend primary care, not replace it, and to coordinate across specialists instead of adding one more disconnected program.Mark and Wendi's argument is simple: chronic disease isn't winning because we lack apps or tools. It's winning because care is fragmented and nobody's tying it together. GLP-1s are making that worse before they make it better. They're the first drug class with indications spanning diabetes, obesity, sleep apnea, fatty liver, and soon addiction, which means a single patient can suddenly need four specialists who don't talk to each other. Cecelia's bet is that a multi-specialty practice can be the layer that connects all of it.We get into:Why chronic disease keeps winning even though there are more apps, tools, and wellness programs than ever, and what point solutions got wrongWhat actually happens to a patient with diabetes and high blood pressure inside Cecelia's model versus the system todayWhy GLP-1s are the first drug class to cross medical specialties, and why that's making fragmentation worse right nowThe patient on a high-dose GLP-1 and an SSRI who almost ended up in the ER, and what the direct-to-consumer prescriber missedHow the US can rank dead last among developed nations and still be the system Mark wouldn't trade for anywhere elseWhere the industry is over-indexing on AI in chronic care, and where Wendi thinks tech actually belongsThe specialty shortage, healthcare deserts, and rural-health funding, and how virtual coordinated care reaches patients brick-and-mortar can'tWhat's different for patients five years from now if Cecelia gets this right—Brought to you by: Sage Growth Partners — Value-focused strategy and marketing for growth-driven healthcare organizations. — Where to find Jared: • X: https://x.com/jaredstaylor • LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jaredstaylor/

An 18-month data center ban in La Crosse is on the docket for the county board. The moratorium legislation comes as a county study committee has its first meeting Wednesday. Dillon Mader and Lia Manock stopped in studio to break down their reasonings for a moratorium, discuss the work the study committee will be doing, and why they feel a ban on data centers is necessary. While there are multiple angles to consider when pausing data center development, Mader and Manock explain why they based their resolution's thresholds on energy usage (two megawatts) and storage (one petabyte). They also discussed why an 18-month moratorium is necessary to give the study committee a full year to conduct its work, report back and possibly craft other legislation. Manock is one of five county board members on the study committee, which also includes a representative from each of the 18 municipalities in La Crosse County. The county board's executive committee will take up the moratorium resolution at 8 a.m. Thursday, before a full vote next week (agenda here). We began the show on how this Thursday meeting is the only change the public has to address the issue during a board meeting. Otherwise, it will depend on contacting your county board rep or emailing the entire board here.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
What happens when you're raised to be a militant Christian nationalist Supreme Court justice, but you decide to actually study church history instead? This week, we are thrilled to welcome social media powerhouse, educator, and musician Monte Mader to the show! You probably know her from her viral videos expertly dismantling Christian nationalist talking points, but her story starts far from the internet spotlight. Monte shares her harrowing and fascinating journey of growing up on a remote cattle ranch in Wyoming, steeped in extreme patriarchal theology, purity culture, and doomsday rhetoric. What was it like being trained in apologetics from childhood, only to realize the history of the church didn't match the dogma she was force-fed? We dive into the terrifying realities of purity culture, the weaponization of biblical texts against women, and the intense backlash Monte faces online for refusing to submit or be silent. But it's not all doom and gloom! Amidst the doxxing and the hate mail, Monte shares why right now—as the mask of Christian nationalism slips completely off—is actually a time for profound, irrational hope. _____________________________________________ Want to see more of Monte? Send us Fan Mail The world keeps speeding up. Notifications, deadlines, performance pressure, the constant pull outward into screens. Most of us know the cost is creeping in somewhere, even when we cannot quite name it. The body whispers first. Then it shouts. In this episode, guest-host Sana sits with Shaun Mader, founder of Friction to Flow Consulting, former media producer turned leadership strategist who has spent more than two years across his life living in Indian ashrams and silent retreats. They explore what really happens to the mind when stimulation is endless, why our devices are quietly competing for the last unmined territory, our attention, and how reclaiming the parasympathetic nervous system through breath, movement, journaling, and presence can return us to ourselves. Honest, layered, and quietly powerful. About the Guest: Shaun Mader is the founder of Friction to Flow Consulting and creator of the Teamware™ and Team Flow Architecture™ frameworks. He spent 15 years as a film producer and photographer in New York, working with celebrities and documenting humanitarian projects, including long-form work in Kolkata's Red Light District where he runs a US-based nonprofit. Across the same years, he lived between media production and Indian ashrams, studying yoga, meditation, and Vipassana, eventually healing his own chronic pain and migraines. Today he advises leaders and teams on navigating complexity, building trust, and shifting from reactivity to clarity. Key Takeaways: Notice the waters you swim in. The modern attention economy is incentivized to be more provocative, polarizing, and emotionally driven, your discomfort is often the system working as designed. Our last unmined territory is the mind. The same way colonisation moved through land and resources, it now moves through attention, our phones become a kind of digital opium. The internal world is where healing happens. Learning to access the parasympathetic nervous system, through breath, meditation, yoga, walking, journaling, is the most universal tool we have for clarity. Practices can become another performance trap. Doing yoga or meditation to "be better" or "fix yourself" misses the point; the real mastery is letting yourself be present without a future ambition attached to it. Devices only transmit through two senses. If you let your whole life run through audio and visual, you miss the tactile, embodied, interpersonal richness that actually makes life feel like life. Christian nationalists are saying the quiet part out loud, that they don't believe women should have a role in public facing society. For them it's about dependency, an excuse for unbridled hierarchy, and a select group deciding who has worth and who doesn't. In this episode of The Movie Men Podcast, Brady and Emily discuss Wicked: For Good, the continuation of the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. The story picks up after the events of Wicked: Part One, following Elphaba and Glinda as their paths diverge and the consequences of their choices begin to take shape in the Land of Oz. Building on the music, characters, and world introduced earlier, Wicked: For Good brings the second half of the stage story to the screen, exploring themes of power, loyalty, and identity against the backdrop of a familiar but reimagined Oz. Brady and Emily share their reactions to the film and reflect on how it functions as the conclusion to the two-part adaptation. Monte Mader grew up in a Christian Nationalist family where indoctrination and abuse were ever-present. I became a fan of her powerful voice as she eviscerated the lies of Christian Dominionism, Christian Nationalism, and the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) using her knowledge of scripture and Christian ideologies. She has over a million followers on Instagram as a “former alt-right Christian nationalist,” sharing her artistic talent and complex views to dispel widely believed radical Republican doctrine. She brings this knowledge forward and finds ways to bridge communications from her upbringing within a controlling but also highly influential alt-right family from Wyoming. She now shares the deconstruction of her childhood and aspects of her healing journey in several venues, including a new memoir she's working on. Her experiences are also reflected in her music as a “Rocky Mountain rock artist” living in Nashville, Tennessee. She writes songs and performs with her band, The Big Sky. She is so talented and is an inspiration. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

What if the faith you were raised in wasn't chosen but programmed? Whether you're questioning everything or doubling down on your beliefs, this landmark 200th episode is for you. Monte Mader's journey from Christian nationalist-in-training to spiritual deconstructionist isn't an attack it's an invitation. An invitation to examine what you inherited, what you believe, and why. No matter where you land, this conversation might challenge something you've never dared to question and that's exactly why you need to hear it.Spirituality can be a powerful source of comfort, connection, and personal growth but when faith is distorted by fear, control, or coercion, it can leave deep emotional wounds. Religious trauma doesn't come from belief itself, but from environments where questioning is punished, conformity is demanded, and individuals especially children are not given the right to consent. This kind of trauma often shows up as chronic guilt, anxiety around “disobedience,” fear-based obedience, or a loss of personal identity. Whether you've grown up in a high-control religious group or entered one later in life, warning signs may include black-and-white thinking, spiritual manipulation, isolation from non-believers, and teachings that prioritize hierarchy over compassion. It's important to remember: religion is not inherently harmful but unchecked power within it can be. If you're questioning your experience, you're not alone. Resources like Reclamation Collective, The Religious Trauma Institute, and Dr. Marlene Winell's Recovery from Religion offer education, support, and healing communities for those navigating spiritual abuse or religious deconstruction. Healing is possible, and your story is valid. What This Episode Covers:Monte's personal turning point: the moment her belief system crackedThe mental health toll of religious trauma and spiritual fear in childhoodHow Christian nationalism shaped her worldview—and why she walked awayThe psychological impact of purity culture on women's identity and self-worthWhy “submission,” obedience, and modesty were never about holinessThe danger of unquestioned authority in faith-based systemsHow spiritual teachings can be twisted to uphold patriarchy and white supremacyThe difference between faith and fear—and how to tell which one's guiding youWhat the Bible actually says (and doesn't) about women, sexuality, and powerWhy reclaiming curiosity is the key to healing religious traumaA call for compassion, critical thinking, and honest self-examination—no matter what you believe LIKE, SUBSCRIBE & SHARE your thoughts in the comments!__________________↳ YouTube↳ Apple Podcast↳ Spotify↳ Instagram↳ Tiktok↳ Facebook__________________Patrick Custer – Host↳ Instagram: @thepatrickcuster↳ TikTok: @thepatrickcuster↳ YouTube: @thepatrickcuster↳ Facebook: @thepatrickcuster↳ Website: linktr.ee/patrickcusterMonte Mader – Guest↳ Insta: @montemader↳ Facebook: @themontemader↳ Youtube: @montemader↳ Tiktok: @montemader↳ X: @montemader__________________Promises Behavioral Health – Treatment for addiction, mental health/trauma:↳ Admissions: (888) 648-4098↳ Insta: @promises_bh↳ URL: www.promisesbehavioralhealth.comMental Health America:↳ URL: www.mhanational.org
