Our latest guest Alison Fischer is a corporate talent strategist for high growth startups and an executive career advisor, and head of customer success for 15 yrs. As an inspirational speaker, Ali shares her personal journey of resilience with authenticity and honesty, with hopes to embolden others to live and lead with confidence and conviction. Most importantly she is a proud single mom to two bold beautiful girls, survivor of domestic abuse, outspoken supporter of mental health and humanizing the workplace. Some golden nuggets you will find in the episode are: -Her journey into helping startups and small businesses redesign and rebuild their talent strategy. -Most companies understand that people are the epicenter of their business. They are their number one assets and their number one resource. -Just by storytelling or sharing your thoughts and feelings or through coaching you will see many women share the same experience. -At some point I did share my story and it helped a lot of others especially when someone looks like them, sounds like them; especially women who are professionals . -Domestic violence is often seen as a stigma. However, it's an inner city problem, it affects everyone, every race, every culture, every religion. There is no one that is untouched by it, “I think sharing is hugely beneficial”. -“I think it is imperative as women are climbing their career ladder, that they have someone there that can help them with the confidence they need”. -“Confidence is one of the largest thing that holds women back in their careers especially when you don’t have someone physically there who can guide you...for me, it was my mindset, I always felt like I deserve to be there”. -Significance studies and what I’ve seen as well, shows confidence plays a huge factor in women’s success long-term and short-term. “It starts in the home, you need parents that believe in you”. -Confidence and clarity are who you are, the value that you bring and the worth that you have and there is no limit for you based on what you see as your definition of success. -Everybody has a completely different definition of success. If you don't have the confidence most especially for women, then you are not going to achieve that which your success looks like for you. -Social media is the number one place to go to know more about people you are hiring. -You have to focus on the difference you are to make in your business life and in a person's life. Focus on it and be excited about it. -Understand the goal that you are trying to achieve, and how you are going to get there. -Self-care is extremely important. -Your work is not who you are, you are a person outside of your job or career. Abuse Survivor. Leadership Lighthouse. Trusted Advisor. This week's guest is Alison Fischer, who shares her incredible journey of resilience and perseverance. She is a champion for survivors of domestic abuse, inspirational speaker and leadership consultant to entrepreneurs and small business owners.Alison is a survivor, an executive, a ‘People-First' leader, Mom to two beautiful girls, a loyal friend and hopeless romantic. Alison's career spans two decades in corporate, including both thriving cultures in established companies and start-ups, as well as times spent in toxic environments with very little positive leadership. During much of this time she was enduring a violent domestic relationship, which she compartmentalised and did not disclose to her colleagues and leaders. Finally, a fractured bone was the final straw as a catalyst to make a change for good.Alison's mission today is to provide support to those that have no support. No mentors, no guides, no one to lean in to during challenging times – she is a lighthouse for leaders, executives and survivors alike to live and lead a life with confidence and conviction, not settling for less than they deserve.Key messages from this conversation;- Alison's EPIC leadership model.- Everyone is a leader in their own right.- Collectively we make change. Every voice is important, but collectively we are better- Great leaders do not make it about them, they bring other people up, make people better and the world better.- Great leaders create a movement because it's not about them, it's about the greater good.- How to become a better world leader; focus on active listening, find clarity in your mission or purpose, be empathetic, put people first always.Alison is providing 1 hour of free coaching to survivors of domestic abuse throughout the month of May.
