On this episode of the Scouting For Growth podcast, Sabine VdL talks to Lisa Bechtold, global executive and strategic leader in technology and law who currently serves at the head of AI governance from a transformative viewpoint at Zurich Insurance Group. In this episode, we explore the challenges and opportunities of the current AI transformation, what it takes to drive innovation in insurance while minimizing potential risks about AI, the role of digital trust and sustainability in leveraging AI for long-term growth, and how leaders can prepare their teams for the digital transformation ahead of us. KEY TAKEAWAYS AI governance is about how we use AI, which already affects all areas of our private and business lives. The acceptance and potential success of AI applications, tools and use cases correlate with the respect of legal systems and the culture of the country or region. With the tools, systems and platforms we’ve built at Zurich, we’ve driven and scaled AI adoption, including the reuse of solutions which have proven extremely successful. In parallel, we drive AI literacy to foster adoption, but also to ensure AI tools are being used in an optimal way. For example, setting the right prompts is crucial for generating the most valuable output from GenAI tools. On one hand, we invest in the education of our workforce, with digital upscaling and AI literacy in particular. On the other hand, it’s crucial to allow for experimentation in a safe sandbox environment so that everyone is embrace the technological opportunities. Insurance has always been a data-driven industry, so the adoption of AI techniques is very well founded in insurance, from risk modelling to all phases of the insurance business value chain. Looking ahead, with the AI revolution taking place this year, both opportunities and risks will be taken to another level. Today,AI systems are beginning to autonomously interact with one another and adapt their behaviours accordingly. I expect, as things increase within both the interaction of individual AI agents as well as in the creation of high-performance, multi-agent systems. Such multi-agent systems bring a multitude of business opportunities but also trigger challenges, such as potential information asymmetries and miscoordination, all of which need to be understood and managed. BEST MOMENTS ‘The goal of deploying AI solutions must be to optimise the benefits of the technology while effectively minimising the risks.’‘AI governance is the foundation of being a catalyst of AI innovation and ensures high-quality outcomes and inspires trust in customers.’‘Today we’re focusing on the scalability and further optimisation of our AI capabilities.’‘Managing the complexity of multi-agent systems in a safe and lean way while optimising business value will be one of the key priorities for 2025.’ ABOUT THE GUEST Lisa Bechtold: As a Global Executive and Strategic Leader and Leader in Technology & Law, I have profound expertise and experience in Data, AI, Governance, Digital Risk and Regulatory Affairs to protect corporate assets and optimise business performance. In my current role as Head of AI Governance at Zurich Insurance Group, I have pioneered and led the operationalisation of a framework for AI Quality & Safety to oversee the development and deployment of AI solutions globally. My multifaceted background positions me perfectly to provide strategic advice on data, digital solutions, and technology topics, integrating legal & risk considerations, to generate sustainable business value and digital trust as a competitive edge. B2B content is often impersonal. It may be clean and polished and dialed in, much like an F1 race car. But as pretty as it is, it may blend into all the rest. But if you let your audience under the hood, that's how you win them over. You show them your personality, that there are real people behind the brand. That's one of the things we're talking about today as we take marketing lessons from Drive to Survive. All with the help of the VP of Global Executive Marketing at Salesforce, Kexin Chen. Together, we talk about letting people under the hood, how confusion equals no sale, and tapping into new channels to open to the door to new audiences.About our guest, Kexin ChenKexin Chen is VP of Global Executive Marketing. In her role, she leverages the latest advancements in media, customer advocacy, and storytelling to spark engagement with CEOs and their leadership team. She's run high profile programs like the Olympics, F1, and Cannes for C-Suite leaders to collaborate and share their authentic stories of driving change in business, industry, and society.Prior to Salesforce, Kexin was the second marketing hire at NextRoll where she built and scaled the marketing functions from the ground up.What B2B Companies Can Learn From Drive to Survive:Tap into new channels, open the door to new audiences. Go where your target audience is. If it's social media, release content on LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, etc. That's often where you'll find your younger audience members. Kexin says, “[Liberty Media has] done a really good job with focusing on digital engagement and stepping out of how do we actually not just think about the TV broadcast, but also think about all the social channels we have and get these drivers out on TikTok, on Snap, to reach that younger audience?”Confusion = no sale. It's simple: your audience won't buy what they don't understand. So make it as easily understood as possible. Use their language. And if there's jargon, explain it. Ian says, “You have to simplify  Everything to its most elemental sort of level. They had to demystify what Formula 1 was to explain like what this whole thing is.” And demystifying Formula 1 has transformed their audience. A 2021 Nielsen study says, “The fanbase has almost doubled since 2017. During that period, the average age of Formula 1 viewers dropped by four years, to 32, and female participation has doubled.”Let people under the hood. The success of Drive to Survive relies on the film crew's ability to get up close and personal with the Formula One drivers. To be so ever-present that the teams forget the film crew is there, and be their most authentic selves. This gives viewers a real look at what it means to be an F1 driver. Ian says, “The mentality for this sort of stuff is like, ‘Well, if we let them under the hood, what if they see something bad?' And it's like, ‘What if we don't let them under the hood and then they never come back?'” The idea is that by letting people under the hood, you attract the right audience and make that product-market fit that lasts. So show people an authentic view of your company and product, and gain your audience's trust through transparency.Quotes*”If we are just trying to sell to [our audience], it's not going to work. And so we have to ensure that we're balancing educating them on the value of our platform and why it's going to completely change their organization. But also we want to build a really trusted relationship and figure out how to arm them with what it's going to take for them to actually be the champion and the star at their organization for bringing Salesforce.”Time Stamps[0:55] Meet VP of Global Executive Marketing at Salesforce, Kexin Chen[1:44] Impact of Drive to Survive on Formula One[2:48] Kexin Chen's Role at Salesforce[4:40] The Marketing Miracle of Drive to Survive[7:40] The Human Element in Sports Marketing[14:15] Global Expansion and Strategy of Formula One[24:49] Engaging Executives and Building Communities[33:20] Final ThoughtsLinksWatch Drive to SurviveConnect with Kexin on LinkedInLearn more about SalesforceAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. In this interview, we talk with Julian Humphreys about his article, Let Down ~ Coaching teams through disappointment.Disappointment is often a visceral experience that can feel like the wind has been taken out of your sails, and it can have a long-term impact on the motivation, trust and commitment of a team. Team coaches have an important role to play in helping teams process their disappointment so it doesn't get in the way of setting and meeting future expectations that propel the team forward. Team coaches need to check in with teams about the attributions they make, so the causes of behaviors that are experienced as disappointing can be more accurately understood and addressed.Team coaches need to be brought in early so disappointment can be addressed proactively, before it becomes chronic. Team coaches also need to be aware of their own feelings of disappointment, understanding the expectations that are put on them, and that they put on themselves. To avoid unnecessary disappointment, coaches need to ask themselvesthe same questions team members do – are the expectations explicit, are they reasonable, and are the attributions made when expectations are not met accurate enough?Julian is a Global Executive and Team Coach, helping senior leaders around the world take their careers to the next level by developing critical thinking, strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, social intelligence, mindfulness, authenticity and integrity.  He is an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC), the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the international coaching journal Philosophy of Coaching, and the developer and instructor for the advanced-level ICF-accredited courses Psychology for Coaches, Philosophy for Coaches and Level 3 Mastery.Join us as we learn more from Julian about what he has found to be effective in coaching disappointment - in individuals and teams? This episode features an interview with Jill Stracko, Director of Global Executive and Internal Communications at Uber. Jill's impressive career spans from Washington D.C. all the way to Silicon Valley. Jill led President Barack Obama's writing team in the White House and once served as Senior Legislative Correspondent to then-Senator Joe Biden. On this episode, Jill sits down with Amanda to discuss her 3 principles of Internal Communications: informing and inspiring, connecting the dots, and exclusivity. They also discuss keeping PR and internal comms aligned and their love of the Oxford Comma.-------------------“In terms of how I just personally think about internal communications, there's a couple of principles. The first is informing and inspiring. Making sure that employees understand what's going on because it's easier to do your job if you understand how decisions are being made. And then inspiring. You really want people to always be reminded of why they came to work at this company and why it's amazing. So, always trying to find those stories that remind people of that and show the innovation that's happening around the company, the cool stuff that's happening. The second is connecting the dots. I feel like it's really important as internal communicators and then also helping leaders, making sure that you remind people how their day-to-day work fits into the company strategy and the priorities for the year and the company mission and values. So, that's our responsibility. It's leaders' responsibility. It's our responsibility to help leaders remind employees of that. And then the final thing is exclusivity. Our work should not just be a regurgitation of something that's put out externally on a blog post or in a news story. Internal Communications is different and should be different from external communications. And I like to think of it as, you should get this information because you work at this company.
