In many ways, David and Jules' relationship is no different from that of most fathers and their sixteen-year-old daughters. He struggles to understand her, she refuses to communicate with him. He wants to be involved in her life, she wants her own space. In one important respect, however, David and Jules share a profound bond: the death of Jules' mum, and David's wife, in a car crash two years before. With both struggling to cope with everyday life in the shadow of their loss, Jules, inspired by happy memories of her mum, decides to take matters into her own hands.ABOUT JEREMY PIVENJeremy Piven can next be seen in the feature film Crabs in a Bucket opposite Oscar winner Bruce Dern and Orange Is the New Black star Taryn Manning. While August and all of the summer blockbusters are mostly behind us, I wanted to take one long overdue look at some of the early August movies to grace theaters everywhere, especially my default one, Marcus Theaters. So this episode, it is time for you to catch a ride on the Bullet Train and hope you don't leave a trail of too many Bodies, Bodies, Bodies along the way. On one hand, you have a certified bop that should be considered one of the best summer movies of the season with none other than Brad Pitt, and a ton of other quality actors. On the other part of this double feature, you have Pete Davidson in a horror movie with a bunch of teens and or young adults that looked like it could be similar to Scream, and it was made by A24 the horror company who definitely does some good, but also made, Men, which you know, is too weird for even me. So let's dive into these once more before we take a pause from going to theaters and look towards the newer final frontier of entertainment media with a few streaming service stories! What was your favorite summer blockbuster? Let me know on social at either @NickNackMovies or @NickNack_IC on Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, Letterboxd, and every other social media platform that exists!
One hell of an action film, that's one way to describe this film. It was almost like a small take of Smokin Aces, Kill Bill, and a number of other creative assassin based movies released over the years. Bullet Train, Starring Brad Pitt, based on the japanese film original. I truly loved this film, it's not some amazing work of film art; or anything Oscar worthy, but this movie had me excited, and gave me a good time throughout the entirety of its run time. I truly enjoyed every second of this film, the characters, the scenarios and so much more. Alvin Jess and myself come together to discuss a new guilty pleasure of ours; bullet Train!
It is not enough to ask, “is this movie like Smokin' Aces?” One must also ask, “how do you feel about Smokin' Aces?” Love it or hate it, Bullet Train is a movie that is very much what it is. And what is it, exactly? Listen and we'll explain to the best of our abilities. Plus, the gang invents their own assassin personas, all of which are just begging to be made into some kick-ass fan art. This movie doesn't get the credit it deserves much at all in my opinion... The plot, the writing, the directing, the cast, the overall execution all work amazingly here and it makes for such an underrated gem. What I need is for this director to revive this epic series for both the old school and next gen action buffs who still can appreciate a good story at it's core. Enjoy, people.

Tim Clemente is a living legend in many circles. While many of us have never known who he is or what he’s done he has impacted the world in his own way in a number of different elite fighting forces. He’s been an FBI special agent, swat team member, and an undercover drug smuggler assisting in the takedown of a major Mexican cartel. He’s been called one of the best terrorist hunters in the world and has been a subject matter expert on a number of major news outlets. Beyond all of this he’s also impacted Hollywood by acting as a creative consultant on films and TV series such as NCIS: Los Angeles, The Unit, Lie To Me, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, and feature films, including Now You See Me, Smokin’ Aces 2 and Killer Elite. Tim has 2 film scripts currently in production/casting: .38 and Secret Soldiers. The information and experience Tim brought to this interview were astounding… It’s always an honor to talk to a man who’s been there, done it all, and is humble enough to continue contributing and trying to share. There’s something in this interview for every protector… ENJOY! Protector by nature and by trade Byron
Dubbed as having a vocal register similar to Adele (GAFFA) and for having a ‘Powerful and killer voice' from Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) and Phil Campbell (Motörhead) it's no wonder Clare Cunningham is making waves across the world with her music. Steve Cropper (Blues Brothers) who features on Clare's latest single 'Heart of Mine' has said ' Clare has such a tremendous voice. She makes me want to play because she sings with passion and feeling.' Cunningham, who was raised in Collon, Co. Louth, the smallest village in Ireland, had a flare for music and singing from a very young age. At just 5 she exclaimed ‘I want to be a rock star when I grow up' and she did just that! By the time Cunningham turned 6 she started learning classical piano playing Mozart by the age of 8 and continued to do so for the following 10 years until she pickedup the guitar and self taught at the age of 16. This was the start of her budding song-writing career, she was highly praised by Irelands own singer songwriter ‘Juliet Turner' and spent the week at a song-writing camp hosted by Turner herself. She saw the natural talent Cunningham possessed for writing and told her this was most definitely the path she needed to embark on.Cunningham took Turner's advice and moved to Dublin after high school where she secured a national diploma in Popular Music performance and technology. With this at hand she then headed overseas and studied at the ‘London College of music' (Vocal Tech) where Cunningham had her first TV appearance on ‘Sky TV' singing one of her own penned songs. Graduating with a BA Hon's Degree in Music Performance and Technology, Cunningham moved to Cardiff, Wales UK where she started up her own business and become a professional singer. She created a 70's classic rock line up called ‘Smokin Aces', who were both a covers and originals band and were very popular all across the country. It was thanks to ‘Smokin Aces' and Cunningham's decision to put up some material onto YouTube which landed her the position of lead singer for the very successful Swedish all female rock quintet ‘Thundermother'. The five hard-core rock chicks had major success in the rock charts and landed a signing with ‘Warner Music' Sweden for their first album ‘Rock n Roll Disaster.' A signing with ‘Despotz Records' (Sweden) then followed the release of their second album ‘Road Fever' gaining support from artists such as ‘Mötorhead, Airbourne, D.A.D, Zakk Wylde, Halestorm, Michael Monroe, In Flames, Opeth, Danko Jones and many more, touring all over Europe and playing some of the biggest European festivals including ‘Sweden Rock Festival', ‘Bravalla', ‘Alcatraz', ‘Getaway Rock Festival' and many more. Cunningham decided to leave Thundermother in January 2017 and is now putting all her focus on her solo career.Cunningham released her self -titled debut solo EP in November 2016, with ‘Low Medium High Records' selling copies all over the world and is just a taste of what Cunningham can do. She isn't afraid to tell the truth, get raw and use the spirits of country, folk and rock when it serves her greater purpose.Clare now resides in the USA (Nashville predominantly) where she is taking it by storm having already played at 'The Nantucket Project' (2018) and at world renowned 'Sundance film Festival' (2019) She had a song placement in a Lionsgate movie (Bernie the Dolphin 2) in December 2019. January 2020, she signed with Symphonic Distribution, distributing all her material through them. Clare's latest project has been recorded at iconic RCA studios, on music Row in Nashville. The band on the recording consist of Audley Freed on Guitar (Sheryl Crowe, The Chicks, Black Crows, Joe Perry) Steve Mackey on bass (Garth Brooke's, Dolly Parton) and Jared Kneale on drums (Lauren Daigle, Kacey Musgraves) The first single off the project 'Heart Of Mine' was released July 3rd, 2020, featuring special guest Steve Cropper. To date, Clare's achievements include : ‘Aint your momma' (title of album and song Clare co-wrote with Rhonda Funk) is up for consideration for a GRAMMY nomination 2021 ‘Best Alternative Song' for ‘Carry Me' (World Songwriting Awards, spring 2020) 'Best Pop Song' for 'Heart Of Mine' (World Songwriting Awards, summer 2020) ‘Songwriter of the year' (silver) at the International Singer Songwriter Awards (ISSA)‘Folk Americana artist of the Year' (Josie awards 2020) ‘Folk Americana song of the year for ‘Angel of the Emerald Isle (Josie awards 2020)

We're going straight to DVD hell as we attempt to Sequelise Smokin' Aces 2: Assassin's Ball, the truly terrible prequel to the already muddled Smokin' Aces. The boss requested some new episodes today and here is Side B of that new episode. She said football sucks and I'd rather listen to your podcast than some lame announcer you're just going to rant about sucking anyway. New episode thanks to the boss! Another one of my favorite actors of all-time, Ryan Reynolds and Smokin' Aces! Enjoy!
Right, so this time we watched Smokin Aces. We're talking about terrible accents and even more terrible jacket stains, both of which are integral to the movie.

However, before the deal can be hammered out, Sparazza orders a hit on Israel, and a host of hit men and women race to kill the snitch and kill the bounty, while the FBI endeavours to keep their source of information alive.

Isaac suggested this enigmatic action/mob thriller, which turned out to be fantastic.
It’s the direct-to-video sequel to the podcast you didn’t know existed. Your hosts Sara (@SaraSorrentino), Ale (@Sick__66), and Shak (@ShakExcellence) discuss the 2010 prequel to Smokin' Aces, Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball. Underwhelming doesn’t even begin to cover this follow-up and finale entry in the Smokin’ Aces franchise. Imagine all the action and wackiness from the original and have that pared down to below mediocrity. Is this a new bottom for our hosts or — you know what? Let’s not pretend. This movie sucked! Boo! They should have done a Scorpion King sequel!
Welcome faithful listeners, we are on the downslide of hump day and you know what that means, A NEW REEL FILM NERDS PODCAST!!! Today the guys review a new Netflix original streaming film, Polar. It is the second film of the week based on a graphic novel/comic book. Needless to say, Matt is crazy excited! Extra topics this pod include is Hollywood out of ideas, the Coen brothers, and are there too many superhero movies? Polar is a fun over the top action revenge movie. It drags a bit in the beginning so much so that Mike almost turned it off. It quickly picks up in the middle and quickly ramps up all the way to the end of the film. Polar is very reminiscent of The Raid, John Wick, and Smokin’ Aces all amazing and fun action movies. This is not a drop everything must-see movie but if you have time to spare you will not be disappointed. Mysterious Mike Talent and Just Matt agree, they both give Polar 3 out of 5 Reels. Thanks for tuning in and joining us on our wild ride through cinema. What do you think about our Tributary movie reviews? Do you want more, less? Write us an email and let us know. I love movies. Some of those movies I love are good movies, but a lot aren't. A whole lot of the movies I love are movies that most people aren't in love with. It's one of the most important things in life to be proud of one's own particular tastes, and in that vein, here is a review of 2006's Smokin' Aces, written and directed by Joe Carnahan. It wouldn't win any Oscars or end up on any reviewer's 10 Best of 2006, but I love it, and I won at the Oscars so I got to pick the film my wife and I watched, and so here we are. There's still spoiler-free stuff, despite it being 12 years old, and then lots of spoiler-filled, including my best efforts to explain the ending. Listen and love!

They say imitation is flattery. Sometimes, that may be true. In the case of Smokin Aces (2006), it's just boring. This movie tries to be a Quentin Tarantino picture, but is anything but. Sure, it dips into gritty and edgy, but it also has the subtlety of a speed freak, and the color grading of a film student music video. If you wanted to say this film had anything going for it, I guess you could say it had a star-studded cast: Ryan Reynolds, Ray Liotta, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine, Common, Alicia Keys, Taraji P. Henson, Matthew Fox, and Jeremy Piven. There's nothing dazzling here, and most of the gags are groan worthy. It's hard to even find a compelling plotline here, although some of us found ourselves wishing Alicia Keys had a more prominent role.
"Nobody gets away clean." Our Slackers are at it again. This week, our slackers, with a special guest decided to go to Las Vegas and take a dude's heart! No, just kidding, but they do watch a movie that's about that.
"Nobody gets away clean." Our Slackers are at it again, with a special guest!! Coming back at you with a movie that's about magic, gangsters, fbi agents, las vegas & Alicia Keys. It's gonna be good!

Smokin' Aces is a melting pot of genres and characters. Some of it works, some of it doesn't, but it's full of vibrant energy and it's never boring. The story concerns a Las Vegas Illusionist who must decide between his loyalty to his friends and his desire to escape the dangers of the mob lifestyle. Buddy "Aces" Israel is a prisoner in every sense of the word. He's forced to hideout in the Penthouse Suite of a posh hotel while negotiating a deal with the FBI to testify against The Mob.As Buddy slowly breaks down and spirals deeper into self destruction, The Mob gets wind of his plans and decides to put out a free for all contract on the magician's head with a hefty reward in tow. Bail Bondsmen, Snipers and Neo-Nazi Psychopaths of all shapes and sizes descend on the hotel as the FBI tries to get to Buddy before everyone else.Join me as the blood and bullets fly all over the screen, and Ryan Reynolds proves once and for all that he's more than just a funny Canadian. Just as with most of my audio commentaries, listen for my preemptive countdown before pressing "play" on your trusty, DVD remote.

Guten Appetit!
