The Torah commands us to count the days from Pesach to Shavuos. We call this Sefirat HaOmer. Yet the name is puzzling. The Omer was a one-time barley offering brought in the temple on the second day of Pesach. Why define this entire period of counting by a one-time korban? When you bake bread, you mix the flour and the water, you knead it, and then you set it aside. Your involvement ends at that point. Yet the dough does not remain static. Dave Stewart is a true music icon. Born in Sunderland in 1952 his first love affair was with football – dreaming of a career playing for the Black Cats, but a knee injury and his parents' divorce changed his entire outlook.
