As you settle in for your Thanksgiving feast and time with family and friends, Jim and Greg are spending the day with their loved ones as well. But we still have you covered! Today, we revisit Jim's report from his October trip to India, including how the opportunity arose and why it happened now. He also explains how Indians are currently viewing the Trump administration and the overall relationship between India and the U.S. as well as the emerging threat from China.First, Jim shares how he got invited on the trip, the significance of the timing, and more. He also goes into detail about the RSS, a powerful group in Indian politics that is closely connected to current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Next, Jim details how Indian officials currently view the United States and President Trump. Some strain has emerged in the relationship over the past year, but it has less to do with the tariffs applied by Trump and more to do with how the administration intervened in the tensions between India and Pakistan earlier in the year. Finally, Jim reveals how India is watching China's relentless military buildup with increasing concern, both in terms of a possible invasion of Taiwan and India's own border problems with the Chinese. And, of course, Jim offers some additional humor and flavor from his visit to the world's most populous nation. Please visit our great sponsors:Save big on unforgettable gifts with Omaha Steaks. In this episode, hosts Ray Powell and Jim Carouso welcome National Review senior political correspondent & Washington Post columnist Jim Geraghty for a wide-ranging discussion that moves from how intelligence agencies are increasingly convinced that Beijing covered up COVID-19's laboratory origins to China's heavy influence on U.S. and international institutions to America's shifting global media strategy under Donald Trump.Geraghty, who began investigating COVID's origins in March 2020, discusses recent German intelligence reports confirming an 80-95% likelihood that COVID-19 escaped from a Wuhan laboratory. He explains why this matters beyond the pandemic: "I'm trying to think of anything any government has done that is more harmful than the ultimate effect of the COVID pandemic." The conversation explores how China's cover-up cost the world "a year of our lives" and why real accountability remains elusive. The discussion examines how the WHO fumbled its COVID response, with China effectively having "veto power" over declaring a global pandemic. Geraghty argues that international health institutions may never recover the trust they lost during the pandemic, creating dangerous vulnerabilities for future health crises. From Hollywood's Transformers movies featuring heroic Chinese military scenes to NBA censorship of Hong Kong support, Geraghty details how China has successfully influenced American institutions. "We didn't bring our values to China. We're bringing their values here," he explains, describing how American organizations increasingly behave with Chinese-style authoritarianism. With 90% of Radio Free Asia's staff facing layoffs and Voice of America's future uncertain, the hosts and Geraghty discuss the strategic implications of dismantling America's global media presence. While Russia and China invest billions in propaganda, the US is "disarming" its information warfare capabilities just as authoritarian influence operations intensify. The conversation turns to how Trump's unpredictable approach affects Indo-Pacific allies, with Australia's recent elections influenced by concerns about potential US abandonment. Geraghty warns that allies watching Trump's treatment of Ukraine and Canada are asking: "That could happen to us."Geraghty describes the emerging "axis of A-holes" - Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea - working together against Western interests, citing examples like Houthis avoiding attacks on Chinese and Russian vessels in the Red Sea.This episode provides essential analysis for anyone following US-China relations, pandemic accountability, and America's evolving role in global information warfare.Follow Jim Geraghty on X, @JimGeraghty, and at the National Review or Washington PostSponsored by BowerGroupAsia
Jim is back and opens Wednesday's 3 Martini Lunch by sharing the saga of a big oak tree that landed on his house over the weekend—and who he blames for it. Then Jim and Greg dig into a victory for free speech and common sense at the U.S. Supreme Court, the good and the frustrating parts of the GOP's Big Beautiful Bill, and more insight on who was really running the country while Biden was supposedly president.First, after Jim details the unnerving tree incident, they cheer the U.S. Supreme Court for ending the punishment aimed at Maine state lawmaker Laurel Libby. Democrats barred her from debating or voting after she posted a photo of a male athlete winning a girls' sporting event on Facebook. But while the court got it right, Jim explains why he's still alarmed by the verdict.Next, they dig into the good, the bad, and the uncertainty surrounding the GOP's Big Beautiful Bill to make the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent and add many other provisions. There is a lot to like in the bill but there is also some disappointment concerning the tax code and what blue state Republicans want to include before supporting the legislation. Finally, they wince as the new book on Joe Biden's cognitive decline reveals the figures who were really running the country while Biden infirmities got worse and worse. And Jim stresses that none of these supposedly breathtaking revelations are actually news. It's just that some reporters and political operatives are confirming what we already knew now that there's no political benefit to covering for Biden. Please visit our great sponsors:It's free, online, and easy to start—no strings attached. Lidl Ireland and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) are gearing up for an action-packed weekend of National Football League Finals across all four divisions, with Armagh, Kerry, Cork and Galway all battling it out at Croke Park, while Cavan, Wexford, Antrim and Fermanagh will target silverware in Drogheda and Clones. The scene is set for four intriguing ties – as captains and representatives from the eight competing teams gathered in Dublin today ahead of the weekend fixtures. The Divisions 1 and 2 Finals will form an exciting double-header at Croke Park next Saturday, April 12, with the Divisions 3 and 4 Finals to be contested next Sunday, April 13, in Drogheda and Clones respectively. In the Division 2 Final, which will precede the Division 1 showpiece, Cork and Galway will battle it out for silverware after claiming promotion. Relegated from Division 1 in 2024, Cork and Galway have bounced back to the top tier at the first attempt, and will now look to put the icing on a sweet-tasting Lidl National League cake by landing the trophy on offer. Armagh, Kerry, Cork and Galway were also the 2024 TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship semi-finalists, proof positive that all four teams have carried last year's encouraging form into the 2025 season. So, will Kerry gain revenge on Armagh after losing last year's Lidl NFL Division 1 Final, and move ahead of Cork in the all-time roll of honour with a 13th Division 1 title? Or will Armagh get the better of the Kingdom again at Croke Park to claim their second crown? All will be revealed, as Galway target a first Division 2 title win since 2014, while Cork eye second tier glory for the first time since 2003. Galway captain Katie Geraghty was in attendance at the LIDL National League Finals media day and she spoke to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly. ==

Join Jim and Greg for this special edition of the 3 Martini Lunch as Jim shares why he returned to Ukraine and made his first visit to Syria, the mindset of Ukrainians entering the fourth year of war, and what he observed in Syria just months after the fall of the Assad regime.First, Jim explains what led to his third trip to Ukraine, how he got closer to the front lines than ever before, and how his travel companions persuaded him to add Syria to his itinerary. He also describes some of the tense moments he experienced in both countries, more than on his previous visits to Ukraine.Next, Jim recounts his time in Ukraine, detailing how locals reacted to major headlines from the Trump administration while he was there. He describes what he saw near—but not at—the front lines, including elderly Russian women wounded by their own country's bombing yet receiving care in Ukraine. He also introduces us to “Twitch,” an American who overcame his own reluctance to follow God's call and is now making a profound impact by helping injured Ukrainians. Finally, Jim takes us to Syria, where he witnessed life just months after Bashar al-Assad's ouster in December and after many years of a brutal civil war. He explains the cautious optimism in parts of the country, including among Christian and Jewish minorities. And Jim offers us a verbal glimpse of Idlib, which he calls “jihad metropolis.” Join us for all this and more from Jim's on-the-ground reporting in Ukraine and Syria. Please visit our great sponsors:Download the FREE CFO's Guide to AI and Machine Learning at https://Netsuite.com/MartiniThis spring, get up to 50% off select plants with code MARTINI https://fastgrowingtrees.com/Martini

It's Christmas, Wednesday, December 25th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes written by Jonathan Clark and heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. Filling in for Adam McManus I'm Ean Leppin. Christians Face Persecution During Christmas Around the world, Christians face increased persecution during Christmas season. Armed men killed 14 Christians in Nigeria on Sunday. The believers had just celebrated a Christmas carol service at the Evangelical Church Winning All. In Vietnam, officials arrested Christian villagers over the weekend for getting ready to celebrate Christmas. Authorities had told Christians they would face arrest if they celebrated Christmas or attended non-sanctioned churches. And yesterday, officials in Nepal arrested a pastor just for giving gifts. Pastor Janmajya Bhattarai had given educational materials, clothes, and gifts to underprivileged children in the area. During this festive season, Hebrews 13:3 reminds us, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” Honda and Nissan Consider Merging Japanese automakers Honda and Nissan announced Monday they are in talks to merge by 2026. If completed, the merger would create the world's third largest car manufacturer by sales after Toyota and Volkswagen. Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe said, “The rise of Chinese automakers and new players has changed the car industry quite a lot. We have to build up capabilities to fight with them by 2030, otherwise we'll be beaten.” Ohio School District to Settle with a Christian Teacher Over Unlawful Termination In the United States, an Ohio school district agreed to a $450,000 settlement with a Christian teacher last Wednesday. The Jackson Local School District forced Vivian Geraghty to resign a couple years ago. The teacher refused to use biologically incorrect pronouns for transgender students based on her Christian beliefs. Logan Spena with Alliance Defending Freedom responded to the favorable settlement for Geraghty. He said, “No school official can force a teacher to set her religious beliefs aside in order to keep her job. . . . The First Amendment prohibits that abuse of power, and Jackson Local School District officials have learned that comes at a steep cost.” Trump Promises to End "Transgender Lunacy" President-elect Donald Trump promised to end “transgender lunacy” on day one of his second term. Listen to his comments from a speech he gave Sunday at Turning Point USA's America Fest conference. TRUMP: “With the stroke of my pen, on day one, we are going to stop the transgender lunacy.” [Crowd cheers] “And I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation. Get transgender out of the military and out of our elementary schools and middle schools and high schools.” Trump also said he would keep men out of women's sports, stating, “It will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female.” Most Popular Bible Verses During Christmas Lifeway Research released data from the Bible app YouVersion on the most popular Bible verses during Christmas. Popular verses include the narrative of Christ's birth post also verses from the Psalms and Old Testament prophecies. The most popular Bible verses during the Christmas season are Luke 2:11-14 and Matthew 1:21. Matthew 1:21 says, “She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” The Christmas Truce of World War I And finally, on this day in history, the Christmas Truce took place between the Germans and the Allies in World War I. On December 25, 1914, Captain Robert Hamilton, a lieutenant with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, made this entry into his diary: “A day unique in the world's history. I met the [German] officer and we arranged a local armistice for 48 hours. As far as I can gather, this effort of ours extended itself throughout the whole line. Soldiers on both sides met [by the] hundreds and exchanged greetings and gifts.” It all started when the Germans heard the Allied troops singing Christmas Carols on the other side of the line. A German Lieutenant, Johannes Niemann, reported that “We started trading everything we had: tobacco, chocolate, schnapps, ribbons. At one point, a Scottish bloke came outside with a football. It was the start of a real football match, with caps as goals.” The temporary truce took place at Ploegsteert Wood on the Western Front, near Flanders. Family Matters with Jim Minnery - The Faith & Politics Show !
I'm grateful to sit down with former Alaska Attorney General Michael Geraghty today to discuss the judicial selection and retention process in the Great Land.As Co-Chair for Alaskans for Fair Courts, Geraghty has spent a lot of time defending the current system of judges having to go through the Alaska Judicial Council, a quasi-Governmental agency, to get appointed by the Governor. He is passionate and sincere in believing that our process is the envy of the country. I argue that the Alaska Judicial Council's retention evaluation process is severely deficient because it includes no analysis of a judge or justice's overall “judicialphilosophy” regarding the proper methodology for interpreting statutory and constitutional provisions. This is a fatal flaw, because no other aspect of judicial performance has a greaterpotential to impact the lives of all Alaskans – not just those who happen to find themselves in a courtroom at some point in their lives.Hope you can tune in. It's a cordial and necessary conversation.Support the show

Megyn Kelly begins the show by discussing the monumental news that Joe Biden has stepped down as nominee through a statement posted to his X account, why there are questions about the validity of his signature, the alarming way he looked when he was last seen on Wednesday, and more. Then Charles C.W. Cooke and Jim Geraghty of National Review join to discuss why it's strange that Biden hasn't been seen or heard from for days, the true nature of his health condition, whether Biden really can remain president now that he's no longer running as the nominee, if Kamala Harris has an actual shot of winning the presidency if she's the Democratic nominee, her cringe and awkward moments that attempt to cover up her nervousness, young people online trying to make her awkwardness seem cool, her political failures during this administration, how top Dems will try to sell Harris to America and whether it will work, whether she might be installed as president in the next few weeks too, and more. Then Dave Rubin, host of The Rubin Report, joins to discuss the failures of the Secret Service that led to the assassination attempt on Trump, the lack of accountability surrounding the incident, the Secret Service director Kim Cheatle being grilled by both sides of the aisle in a Congressional hearing, her refusal to give any actual answers, Nancy Pelosi's endorsement of Kamala Harris, top Dems pushing Harris as the nominee while Biden remains hidden, and more. Today, Greg interviews Jim about his soon-to-be-released thriller, "Dueling Six Demons," the latest in his Dangerous Clique series.First, Jim talks about the role of setting in his thrillers, and how, over the past year, his writing has become increasingly more tied to his personal experiences in locations like Ukraine and Taiwan.Next, Jim discusses how he creates his characters, almost all of whom draw inspiration from real figures in Jim's life. Jim also talks about the nature of a story's ending, and how it must either be an earned happy ending or a complex, imperfect ending. Finally, Greg asks Jim about the growing mood of cynicism in the series, and whether or not that reflects Jim's personal views. Jim also speaks about the tension between creating a world that feels lived-in and believable, while also avoiding the injection of political commentary into the story. Please visit our great sponsor:Lumenhttps://lumen.meTake the next step in improving your health. Megyn Kelly is joined by Charles C.W. Cooke and Jim Geraghty of National Review to discuss the latest details of the Donald Trump NYC trial, jurors refusing to be fair and impartial about the trial, the judge scolding the media for revealing too much about the jurors, two jurors already getting dismissed, the reaction Trump got in Harlem vs. Biden at a PA gas station, Biden's lie that his uncle may have been eaten by cannibals, Biden's longtime issues with the truth, his confusing comments about Israel, whether government funding of NPR should continue, new NPR CEO Katherine Maher's warped perception of empathy, her past criticism of Wikipedia's lack of diversity, whether Maher and people like her really believe what they say or are just performing, Columbia University's president struggling to answer questions before Congress, whether anti-Israel protests are actually anti-Jewish, protesters claiming to have been attacked with an Israeli chemical weapon actually just smelling fart spray, the sense of entitlement from a tenured undocumented Cornell professor protesting against Ann Coulter, kids at a middle school in Utah coming to school dressed as “furries,” and more.Geraghty- https://www.nationalreview.com/author/jim-geraghty/Cooke- https://twitter.com/charlescwcooke Follow The Megyn Kelly Show on all social platforms: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/MegynKellyTwitter: http://Twitter.com/MegynKellyShowInstagram: http://Instagram.com/MegynKellyShowFacebook: http://Facebook.com/MegynKellyShow Find out more information at: https://www.devilmaycaremedia.com/megynkellyshow
Join Jim and Greg as Jim offers a fascinating recap of his recent return to Ukraine and describes what was different this time around. Plus, Jim's recollection of a conversation with a former member of the Russian Duma who is now allied with Ukraine, and a very interesting look at the innovations happening right now to help Ukrainian soldiers.First, Jim explains why he wanted to go back to Ukraine a little more than six months after his visit last summer. He also updates the war effort, the relentless Russian "meat waves," the impact of U.S. aid being on hold, and what conditions for an end to the war might be under consideration. They also discuss Ukraine's policy of not holding elections while under martial law. Would it be better to demonstrate a commitment to democracy regardless of the circumstances or is it simply impossible to hold elections under the current circumstances?Next, Jim recounts his meeting with Ilya Ponomarev, a former member of the Russian Duma who is now working with Ukraine against the Russians. His tactics are certainly fodder for debate but Jim explains why what Ponomarev is doing is quite courageous. Finally, Jim describes his visit to a secret drone factory somewhere in Ukraine and shares as much as he can about the innovations happening to assist the war effort and the people working there. Jim may be the first western journalist to visit the plant. Please visit our great sponsors:4Patriothttps://4Patriots.com/martiniGet the Deluxe 3-Month Survival Food Kit and the peace of mind your family deserves. Undisputed King of Stuff, columnist, and longtime Ricochet Editor-in-Chief Jon Gabriel is in for Jim today. Today, Jon and Greg break down one thoroughly enjoyable congressional hearing, an utterly infuriating one, and perhaps the craziest martini of all time. But before the martinis, they provide a brief update on Jim's latest reporting, including the closest he's been to intense Russian bombings in Ukraine. Thankfully, Jim is fine, but please keep praying for his safety and for the Ukrainian people. In today's martinis, Jon and Greg appreciate Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy's master class in exposing President Biden's radical judicial nominees. This week he flummoxed Judge Nancy Maldonado by highlighting her call for an assault weapons ban in a previous job and making her prove she has no idea what she means by "assault weapons."Next, they head to a House hearing in which former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley admits the Taliban has butchered a good number of our Afghan allies and that he and others in the Biden administration never knew how many Americans were in Afghanistan at the time of the withdrawal debacle so they had no idea how many were still there when the military left. They also highlight testimony from former CentCom Commander Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, who admitted, "When I received the order to withdraw the US military, I was not ordered to plan to get U.S. citizens out, our allies out, or evacuate our embassy."Finally, just one week after "right-wing influencers" were accused of falsely stating some Haitian gangs engaged in cannibalism (even though they were right), the push is now on to defend the hideous practice. NewScientist.com laments that in contrast to zombie movies and characters like Hannibal Lecter, "positive stories of cannibals are few and far between." They also claim our primitive ancestors ate their dead as a sign of respect.
