“Don't wait for perfect timing. Just start.” That's the mindset Ashley Dyce lives by—and it's what's fueled her journey from discovering the Paralympics through a TV commercial to becoming a Team USA Para Powerlifter. Born and raised in Covina, California, Ashley is preparing for LA 2028—her hometown Games. “I've had one competition in the U.S. in eight years. This time, my whole community gets to come cheer me on. That means everything.” Off the platform, Ashley's a certified life coach, entrepreneur, graphic designer —and recently published her first book (details below). “Your girl is busy,” she laughs. In today's conversation, Ashley opens up about the mental, physical, and spiritual hurdles she's faced on her path. From shoulder injuries and missed Games to the power of visualization and daily discipline, she's stayed grounded through it all. “Even if I can't train, I focus on what I can do—eat clean, visualize, rest. She also cites her faith as her rock sharing, “My faith is every day to me. I honestly believe I wouldn't be here without my faith, without believing in God.” She also dives into the misconceptions surrounding adaptive athletes: “Not every disabled person becomes a Paralympian. We train just as hard. We compete at the highest levels.” Her advice? “Whatever your goal is—make the call, apply, eat better. Just take one step forward today.” ---- In our conversation Ashley, mentions her book. You can purchase it on Amazon. In a special double episode of the podcast, Dr. Cyndi discusses the significance of the Libra Full Moon (April 12-13, 2025), with a meditative attunement to the essence of this harmony-seeking sign. Areas of focus for rituals during the Libra Full Moon include commitment and seeking balance. In the spirit of the navigation of dualities so evoked by Libra, the second part of the episode explores the fascinating world of magickal poppets, effigies that are enchanted with energies aligning them to a purpose. Historically, poppets were associated with baneful magic, such as using them to control the actions of another person. In our discussion, we focus on how to craft and work with poppets for healing and releasing the past. Very on theme with Libra since this sign is the psychologist of the zodiac.Join the Keeping Her Keys Substack to watch the video version of this episode. Michael encounters a young lad who happened to see a bunch of bank robbers transferring their ill-gotten gains from a circus van to an unmarked K-car. He also managed to lift the gold watch one of the robbers stole from the bank manager. Soon, Michael and KITT are the only protection the boy has from the thieves and, oddly enough, himself and his dreams of caravan life. Meanwhile, Devon and April phone in to remind Michael about his obligation to the holiday cheer. Erik and Justin discuss the actual premise of Knight Rider versus what the announcer claims it to be in the intro. They also decide to use the term "Latverian" in lieu of a certain word that was still in use in the 1980s. Sound-a-likes for a trio of popular 1983 songs become an important part of the deliberations. Erik makes mention of an obscure Jon Voight film and partially reviews Kraven the Hunter. Justin blanks on the name of the actor who played Babylon 5's John Sheridan. Erik argues KITT should always be a Trans AM with a Cylon headlight. He also suggests April is a step down from Bonnie. The pair ponder if F.L.A.G. is a paramilitary contractor and Geography Corner centers on the Covina area of Southern California.

Does Light Tire and Does It Prove the Big Bang Wrong? Join Hugh Ross in this News of the Day episode of Stars, Cells, and God. Hugh describes a paper published by a computer scientist Lior Shamir who claims his statistical analysis of redshifts of distant galaxies indicates light may lose energy as it travels through space and that if light indeed gets tired a major revision of the standard big bang model is in order. Shamir's claimed effect may be a statistical artifact akin to Bible code claims. Tired light is just one of several systematic effects that could explain the statistical bias discovered by Shamir. Direct distance measurements have affirmed that galaxy redshifts are entirely explained by cosmic expansion out to 470 million light years. If light indeed tires, images of distant quasars and blazars should be blurry. They are not. If light indeed tires, the cosmic microwave background radiation should cool at a different rate than what astronomers observe. The apparent maturity of some galaxies in the early universe does not challenge the standard big bang model if, as the Webb telescope has affirmed, many of the universe's first stars are hundreds of times more massive than the Sun. Demeter: Ancient Goddess of Getting It Together

We had a fabulous deep conversation about Demeter, who often comes to us when it's time for us to "get it together," whatever the "it" may be for us personally. Demeter, the mother of Persephone, is a significant goddess in Greek and Roman mythology. She represents the natural cycle, agriculture, order, civilization, and the ruling of the home.  The Homeric Hymn to Demeter recounts the story of Persephone's abduction and Demeter's profound grief and anger. In the story, Persephone has been traumatized and abducted by Hades, all with the preapproval of her father (and his brother), Zeus. In her grief, Demeter's refusal to let the seasons change symbolizes the powerlessness and sorrow of a mother who has lost her child.  However, the Orphic Hymn to Demeter gives a fuller picture of her might and majesty. We explore some of her fascinating ancient history, and then bring the conversation forward to today, with our own understanding of her. We all have differing opinions and personal experiences of Demeter, so this is a very spirited conversation. Consider joining me, Christen, Liz, Melanie, Margie, Nicole, Leah, and Alyssa in Covina. He takes away every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in Me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in Me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without Me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in Me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become My disciples.” Memorial of Saint Joseph the Worker Saint Joseph, pray for us! Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. You heard Me tell you, 'I am going away and I will come back to you.' Last week, we recorded the last episode of On Taking Pictures. If you're a longtime listener, you may think you've heard this before, and you're right, you have. But this time it's different. I'll get to why in a minute, but first I need to back up. In 2008, I was teaching Photoshop at Tri-Community Photo in Covina, California. One of the other instructors and I started doing photo walks with some of the students on the weekends. As they got more popular, we put up a simple web page called Faded & Blurred that had details about the upcoming walks. It pretty quickly evolved into a full-blown site, complete with a blog, spotlights on some of our favorite photographers, and a podcast called Q&A@F&B, which was a series of long-form conversations with photographers who were willing to sit down with me for an hour and talk about their work. In addition to getting to talk with photographers like John Keatley, David duChemin, and Ibarionex Perello, I also spoke with Bill Wadman for the first time. Bill and I hit it off straight away, and in 2012, when he was thinking about doing a weekly photography podcast, he started auditioning potential co-hosts. He reached out to me and asked if I'd be interested. I said sure, and my audition ended up being the first episode of OTP. For the next 6 years and 325 episodes, my Tuesday mornings were spent recording the show, with me in Rancho Cucamonga, California—at least to start—and Bill in Brooklyn, New York.If you enjoyed this Iteration, I would love it if you would share it with a friend or two. Forgiveness is a good idea until of course  you're the one having to demonstrate it. The truth is forgiveness is not a human thing, it a supernatural gift that comes from Heaven; straight from the power and person of Jesus Christ who first forgave us. In this episode, you will hear Covina's gripping and 'edge of your seat' story of the rape and murder of her teenage daughter. Her life was taken by Covina's husband, her daughter's step father. Throughout the legal process and proceedings of this unbelievable tragedy, God woke Covina up from a deep sleep and said, "I need you to go to see your husband at the jail today and tell him that you forgive him. I will be with you." The rest of this compelling  story of forgiveness mixed with confusion, doubt and healing. Hold on to your mind and heart as you hear Covina's story and the POWER of forgiveness. Scriptures to reflect on:  Matthew 6:14-15; 18:21-35, Luke 6:37; 17:3-4, and Mark 11:25.Support the showWant to support Jesus in My Life Podcast, please consider supporting us with a small monthly contribution, details at: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2004457/supporters/newContact us at: jesusinmylifepodcast@gmail.comFollow us Online on: TikTok@jesusinmylifepodcastFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/jesusinmylifepodcast

More deets on the episode: We begin with revisiting Lauren's definition of codependency: taking or giving responsibility to someone or something else in order to meet our needs. She adds how codependents often do not get to know who they are, are unable to honor who they are, and then a piece of us (or all of us) gets lost. She emphasizes how we need to ask questions about what do we value, why we value it, and where are those values present (or not present) in our lives.  Lauren opens up about feeling codependent during her recent venture in opening her group practice: “Someone decide for me please!” She reflects on how she yearned for someone else to make decisions for her rather than take on that responsibility herself. Sound familiar?! We shift focus to the codependency Lauren often sees in her practice. One common observation with her clients is how codependent they become while going through a difficult stage in life. Lauren reflects how these patients often regress into codependent behavior where they rely on others, experience choas/overwhelm, get into survival mode, are disorganized, and lack an inner authority.  Lauren expands on her observation of codependent clients feeling detached from themselves. She suggests that, in order to get to know ourselves, we need to start with journaling. We can answer questions like: how am I doing? Where am I feeling emotions in my body? What do I need? How do I need that need? In order to create better boundaries, Lauren suggests getting in touch with our VALUES. Once we get in touch with our values, they will guide our boundaries and make it that much easier to set and maintain them. We conclude with hearing how our values can also help us face the times we fear getting rejected since we are in touch with why we are willing to be rejected. We conclude with a helpful reminder to be sure to recognize when your following your fear-based values versus your trust-based values.  Thank you for coming on again Lauren! And thank you dear listener for being here! PLEASE: Rate.  Review. Subscribe.  Share. We need more ratings on Spotify! TY!
