On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Shotgun Spratling and new intern Riley Sager are back in studio to discuss everything happening in the world of USC football, from recruiting to what all 12 assistant football coaches had to say this week at the media brunch. Our team starts off talking about the nearly unbelievable turnaround for USC football recruiting, both from the high school ranks and the NCAA Transfer Portal. Over the past five days the Trojans have picked up as many commits, four from high school and one from the portal. Things got started on Wednesday with three-star receiver Roderick Tezeno, Thursday USC added five-star offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe, Friday was four-star corner Elbert Hill, Saturday three-star receiver Luc Weaver before UCF transfer cornerback Chasen Johnson picked USC on Sunday. Lincoln Riley and his crew have the No. 1 ranked recruiting class for 2026 and it isn't close, with 27 commitments and nearly 295 points (Notre Dame is second with 14 commits and 236 points). The efforts to focus on high school recruiting by new general manager Chad Bowden is paying off and the Trojans are not slowing down on the recruiting trail. On the team side, we were able to meet with 12 assistants on Wednesday at USC's media brunch, two hours of interviews that we filmed and uploaded to our YouTube page. We were able to gain a lot of insight into what the plan is for the off-season to turn things around on the field in 2025. Shotgun also spent the morning at the Under Armour Next Camp in Mission Viejo and shares his thoughts on how the Trojan commitments and targets performed, including defensive line MVP Simote Katoanga out of Santa Margarita (Calif.) and offensive line MVP Chase Deniz out of San Diego (Calif.) Cathedral Catholic. They will also talk about Riley's decision to let Director of Football Sports Performance Bennie Wylie go and head in a different direction for future of USC football strength and conditioning. There was no traditional spring game this year, but the guys give their thoughts on what they saw and heard throughout spring football from key position battles to returning veterans making an impact to new faces making an impression. The guys will also talk about the different feel of spring practice this year, with increased buzz thanks to the new personnel staff inviting tons of top prospects from Southern California and all over the country. We haven't seen this many recruits consistently coming to practice in years, and it reflects the success USC recruiting has seen over the past couple of months building the No. 1 ranked recruiting class for 2026. In today's episode, we chat with Lili about taking time to creatively reset, returning to a guitar-forward sound, working with producer Sean O'Keefe, and the emotional depth of standout track “Violence.”Beach Bunny: Instagram / Spotify Purchase Tunnel Vision and find Beach Bunny tour dates hereVisit our official website here and follow us across our socials.

“Scribbling into oblivion” is how Lili Trifilio of Beach Bunny describes her editing process. (It's also an amazing song title.) She used this phrase in response to a question I like to ask songwriters: when you're editing something you don't like, do you cross it out with a single line or scratch it out? Trifilio wants that word or phrase to disappear forever. Beach Bunny's latest album is Tunnel Vision.

Tshaka Menelik Imhotep Campbell is a former Silicon Valley Poet Laureate and has authored four books of poetry: Tarman, Muted Whispers, STUFF | I will Write More, and Tunnel Vision. He is preparing to release a fifth book with El Martillo Press, Blood at the Root. Born in London, England, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Tshaka was introduced to the words of Malcolm X and Winston Churchill at an early age by his father, an orator and advocate for the power of language. While the influence of those lessons lay dormant for much of his youth, Tshaka was concurrently exposed to the rhythm and rhyme of early rap music and life as a Black man in America. Today, much of Tshaka's poetry revolves around a need for identity, exploring themes such as fatherhood and the experiences of Black Americans. His soon-to-be-released book of poems, Blood At The Root, was written for his daughter and has taken over a decade to complete. In this book, he hopes to share experiences she can bring into her life. Blood at the Root aims to address topics related to love, loss, and the human condition. In this conversation, we discuss Tshaka's formative upbringing, his creation story as a poet, his purpose for writing, and the perspective behind his upcoming book. Follow Tshaka on Instagram @pappatshak.Featured in issue 12.1, “Device.” *Edit: The intended reference to the breadmaking process at 48:50 is "proofing" rather than "pruning."

The character of war is constantly evolving. Those changes are happening not just on land, at sea, and in air – but also in the subterranean realm. The combatant that best understands these ongoing changes and adapts the most effectively is more likely to be successful in future wars.Few modern militaries know subterranean warfare better than Israel. That's because terrorist groups such has Hamas and Hezbollah have for years attempted to use tunnels to infiltrate Israel and conduct attacks there. Following the October 7 terror attack on Israel, Hamas and Hezbollah used tunnels in Gaza and Lebanon, respectively, to protect terrorist forces and their arsenals from counterattack, imprison hostages, extend the conflicts, and further political warfare strategies. In response, Israel has developed world-class technologies, capabilities, and tactics to detect and destroy tunnels. What is the nature of subterranean warfare, how was it used in Gaza and Lebanon, and was this an anomaly peculiar to those wars and places or rather a sign of things to come elsewhere? What lessons should be learned, and how should Israel, the United States, and its allies respond? To discuss these questions and more, FDD hosts MAJ (Ret.) On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") are back in studio to recap USC's 35-31 win over Texas A&M in the Las Vegas Bowl, giving the Trojans a 7-6 record that included a 4-5 Big Ten record and two wins over SEC opponents. Training 24-7 late in the third quarter, quarterback Jayden Maiava and the Trojans scored touchdowns on 4 of their next 5 drives, taking the lead with just 8 seconds left in the game to secure the victory. Ryan and Connor give their thoughts on what they saw in Las Vegas, including the roller coaster performance by Maiava, the emergence of freshman running back Bryan Jackson behind a young offensive line and the Trojan defense stepping up with some great second half adjustments. The guys also talk about how this game mirrored USC's opener in Las Vegas, a come from behind win over LSU where USC also scored the game winning touchdown with just 8 clicks left on the clock. This episode describes tunnel vision.. that place where our minds might go when we want to drink.. the back and forth, the thinking how it might not count, or it wouldn't matter. The place where your desire to drink is high and it's all that your mind is focusing on. I had a bit of tunnel vision during Thanksgiving when my husband was leading a Scotch tasting with his family. Tune in and hear what this sounded like for me and how I recognized it and got out of it. Also, there is nothing wrong with you if you experience tunnel vision, it's 100% normal, so don't make it mean anything, except that you are human! On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Jack Smith, Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") are back for the final recap show of USC football's regular season, a 49-35 defeat at the hands of No. 5 Notre Dame. After playing an even first half, the Fighting Irish looked to be in control late in the game before the Trojans, down 7, had a first and 10 at the ND 21 with under 4 minutes on the clock with a chance to tie the game. Then Cornerback Christian Gray squashed the Trojans comeback dreams, snatching Jayden Maiava's pass out of the air before returning it 99-yards the other way. The guys talk about how this game was a microcosm of the Trojans entire season, with chances at success that ultimately ended in failure. USC played well enough to win in all three phases of the game, but couldn't bring it all together and make the plays to finish the game, a common theme throughout the season. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio for a holiday week edition of the Peristyle Podcast that will also serve as our game preview Tunnel Vision show this week. USC is coming off its 19-13 win over UCLA in the Rose Bowl where the team had the flu. The victory was important for a number of reasons, the rivalry with the Bruins, getting back the Victory Bell and of course becoming bowl eligible. But the level of play wasn't great, with both teams looking like they were ready to give the game to the other side at any moment. The Trojans will need to play a much better brand of football this weekend to have a chance to take down the Fighting Irish in the Coliseum. Notre Dame has won 9 games in a row and are blowing teams out with regularity. The guys talk about this important matchup and what USC would need to do to get the upset win and knock the Irish out of the College Football Playoffs picture. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Jack Smith and Ryan Abraham are back from a late night in the Rose Bowl where they witnessed USC's first ever Big Ten road victory, taking down crosstown rival UCLA 19-13. It wasn't the prettiest game in recent memory, but head coach Lincoln Riley and the team will take the conference win regardless. The Trojans are now 6-5 and bowl eligible with an opportunity to knock Notre Dame out of a playoff berth next week in the Coliseum. This was a far from perfect performance by the Trojans, only scoring one touchdown while struggling in the red zone and allowing over 100 yards rushing to a UCLA squad that struggled to run the football this season. But USC did shutout the Bruins in the 4th quarter and closed out the game on a high note, outscoring UCLA 10-0 in that final period. New quarterback Jayden Maiava didn't turn the ball over and give the Bruins easy scores like he did last week against Nebraska, despite having a flu outbreak on team throughout the week leading up to the game. The guys talk about some of the issues they had with this game including some of the play calling, specifically in the red zone where USC kept throwing low percentage fade routes from inside the 5-yard line instead of just handing the ball off to the offensive MVP Woody Marks (Of the 9 plays the Trojans ran inside the UCLA 5-yard line, Marks only got one touch). Despite having no turnovers and amazing starting field position of USC's own 42 yard line, the Trojans could only put up 19 points, easily the worst offensive performance of the season. Luckily the other side of the ball may have played its best game, picking up three sacks on Ethan Garbers and only allowing 13 points while ending the game forcing two straight four-and-outs. After losing four of the last five games, the Trojans were able to get back on the right track and finished the game strong against the Cornhuskers. Now USC just needs one win over rival UCLA or Notre Dame to become bowl eligible and get an extra couple of weeks of practice to help prepare this team for next season. On the defensive side of the ball the Trojans really played well, allowing only 13 points to the Nebraska offense and only 10 points that were not the direct result of USC turnovers. Before the guys give their thoughts on the game, they welcome in the USC left tackle Elijah Paige who played one of his best games against Nebraska, helping Woody Marks run for 146 yards and allow Maiava to complete over 71% of his passes. The Huskers are riding a 3-game losing streak, the second-straight Big Ten opponent to have entered the Coliseum after losing three-straight, while the Trojans have dropped four of their last five games. They will also discuss the major offensive changes both programs made during the bye week, with USC benching Miller Moss in favor of Jayden Maiava at quarterback and Nebraska promoting newly hired offensive analyst Dana Holgorsen to offensive coordinator, calling plays for freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola. The early signing period is quickly approaching and the Trojans top-10 recruiting class for 2025 is already taking hits, most notably the de-commit of four-star edge rusher Hayden Lowe. The guys weigh in on this recruiting failure and where USC can go from here to help bolster the defensive line through high school recruiting. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Chris Trevino and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back from Seattle where they will once again discuss everything that made the road trip a nightmare for the Trojan football team and their fans. After the 26-21 loss to Washington, USC falls to 4-5 on the season, 0-4 on the road and has lost four of its last five games heading into the bye week. Head coach Lincoln Riley has as many losses (10) in his last 16 games at USC than he had in his entire Oklahoma career (55-10). After the game Riley continued with his message that the team is doing a lot of great things and they are simply one play away from turning a loss into a victory. While that is technically true, the common dominator is that being close to winning isn't good enough, especially when the schedule was favorable and some of those losses shouldn't have been close enough to go either way. The guys talk about what they saw and heard up in Seattle and try to make sense of this team fighting for bowl eligibility instead of a berth in the expanded College Football Playoffs. What is left for USC to play for? Wins over Nebraska plus rivals UCLA and Notre Dame would be nice, but it wouldn't erase another (at least) five-loss season in year three of Riley's tenure. This campaign started with great promise after beating LSU in Las Vegas, but four losses in the last five weeks officially makes USC football 2024 another wasted season. Both programs are 4-4 and both need a victory for a realistic shot at making a bowl game and finishing the season on a high note. The Trojans will have their hands full trying to play in Husky Stadium, where UW has an 18-game winning streak going. USC hasn't won a true road game in over a year and would love to finally secure a Big Ten road win, even if it comes against a familiar Pac-12 foe. Washington's strength lies in its pass defense, ranked No. 1 in the FBS. USC likes to throw the ball with Miller Moss but Lincoln Riley could find more success with Woody Marks and the ground game up in Seattle. The Trojans could get some of their injured defensive players back for this game as they try to keep the Huskies offense at bay. UW is one of the top teams in FBS in terms of total offense, but for some reason Washington struggles in the red zone, making point production much lower. The Dawgs are also terrible on special teams, which could provide an opportunity for Zachariah Branch and Makai Lemon in the return game.
