Originally aired on February 01, 2019When Caleb sold his previous business, Bearded Brothers, his wife, Kristy, had the crazy idea of being debt-free and living in an RV full-time. Everyone around them thought they were nuts! Nearly 4 years into their journey, a lot of the people who called them crazy are now jealous of their freedom, lack of “stuff”, and ability to go where the wind takes them. Caleb and Kristy are both small business owners who are able to operate their businesses out of the compact dwelling space. They have no end to their adventure in sight but admit that RV living with three kids and running businesses absolutely has its unique challenges, but it's a tradeoff compared with a normal route in life.Caleb is also an avid ultrarunner, taking the home and family to races all over the country. Instead of having to go to a stale hotel room after a long race, he can walk right into his house. Josh sits down with Hemp Daddy's Therapeutics co-founder Caleb Simpson. Hemp Daddy's Therapeutics makes CBD or Cannabidiol oil, transdermal cream, and capsules that offer a wide range of both mental and physical health benefits to help with inflammation, depression, anxiety, pain, and a number of other ailments. We're no strangers to Caleb as he was a founder of Bearded Brothers, one of our earliest brand that we worked with so naturally, we had to find out the motivation for stepping away from bearded brothers and jumping into a completely new endeavor. With more and more studies and acknowledgment of the health benefits of CBD we are beyond interested in its effects and development, especially since Simpson's motivation to start this budding business (no pun intended) came from witnessing the pain relieving and anti-inflammatory effects of CBD first hand.
So, you want to start a nutrition or supplement company?. After all, energy bars and healthy snack foods are exploding, right? Here's how the business really works, as told by someone who's been doing it for almost eight years, gained distribution in REI and Whole Foods, and built their own production kitchen. Seeking healthier real food options to fuel their adventures, co-founders Caleb Simpson and Chris Herbert launched Bearded Brothers to offer energy bars made with real, whole foods and organic ingredients. In this interview, Caleb shares how they started, the challenges and opportunities of gaining national retail distribution, and their marketing tactics. Plus, why they're betting heavily on direct to consumer sales as a channel for growth. Which means there's a lot to learn, whether you're in the food or supplement industry or not. What happens when murders use Facebook Live? How will the mother of all bombs (MOAB) affect the war on terror? Will Harry Potter Land be a better vacation than Star Wars Disney? We have no idea, but we talk about it all the same in the latest and greatest episode of the Two Bearded Preachers Super Show! In this episode, Justin will explain how he deals with rude behavior at the Starbuck's bathroom. Martin doesn't know if Facebook Live is a feature he deserves. They both get motion sickness as they try to avoid creating new Dad Fail episodes. Pay attention, Muggles, the Bearded Brothers are back and better than ever! Would you like to join the conversation? Does the Two Bearded Preachers podcast break the rules for acceptable behavior for pastoral people? Probably not. In this week's episode, Justin and Martin discuss the many benefits they receive from the podcast. There's a little bit of history told and the original plan of the show described, but it wasn't a good idea so the Bearded Brothers just started recording their regular conversations and the show got a lot better. Later in the episode, they talk about how they give advice to their congregations and the burden of eggnog.
Josh sits down with Caleb Simpson co-founder of Bearded Brothers Bars. The idea behind Bearded Brothers, based out of Austin, Texas, was sparked when Chris, Calebs brother-in-law, introduced him to the idea of raw food diets. After getting immersed in a completely new and healthy way of life, Caleb soon started to make his own protein bars and soon found himself sharing his creation with friends and family. Bearded Brother Bars use natural, simple ingredients and uses only about seven different ingredients. Not extra bullshit, just straight forward ingredients. Now Bearded Brothers is producing roughly 500 thousand bars a year delivering energy and nutrition to athletes and health-nuts alike.
We have Marshall Davis on Vortex Radio this week! He's Michael's oldest Atlanta friend and showed Michael all around the city when the future Vortex co-owner first moved out here. When you look at the two of them, you may think they're related because of their matching long gray beards and how much s*** they give each other. Marshall is also a partner in the popular Oakhurst neighborhood bar, Steinbeck's Ale House. Listen in for some ridiculous stories about the old days of Atlanta way before Ponce City Market or the Beltine Trail were even a thought.
