It's time to watch another movie, and stop me if you've heard this one, but it's about children who turn into wolves. This time, we're looking at the lovely Irish film Wolfwalkers! We'll discuss beautiful animation, make uneducated statements about British and Irish history, and recount the crazy hoops you have to go through to watch things on Apple's questionable video streaming service. We'll also talk about the He-Man Matsy should have watched but didn't, the He-Man Micah shouldn't have watched but did, and the little YouTuber who made good, Brad Neely. Also, I'm starting to think I should have titled Episode 13 "Dog Father." Hindsight is 20/20. Cartoon in this episode: "Wolfwalkers"
We begin the second iteration of the Heat Death of the Universe Book Club with the first of two discussions of Don DeLillo's 1988 landmark novel, Libra. Was Lee Harvey Oswald merely a dyslexic contrarian failson who wanted to dad-marry John Wayne, or did he hold deeper philosophical convictions and was his interior life more complex and compelling than it may've seemed in many lights? Just how deranged does one need to be to be a truly gung-ho CIA agent? Can enough research drive a person to a psychotic break? Was the mob more threatened by Bobby or John? Does it matter? Are secrets instruments of profundity or just places to keep the shame spirals? Was 11/22 really the Boomer 9/11? Well, as JFK himself once said: "Even though I'm better than you, I'm not." Today, I'm talking with my friend Kylie about Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (2002), a movie we both enjoyed at a sillier time in our lives. NOTE: At one point, I say “a Shrek parody of E.T.” when I mean “a porn parody of E.T.,” but honestly, I think I'd rather see that first one. Kylie is the incredible illustrator who made all the art for the 2020 Sick 'n' Wrong Film Festival. If you want to see more of her work — and you do! — check her out on Instagram as @cat_blether and on Facebook as Cat Feather. Sadly, it seems that Our Robocop Remake has disappeared from internet, but you can still watch the trailer and fantasize about how awesome it was: https://youtu.be/qfF14LI2QDA In happier news, Shrek Retold is still up on YouTube in its entirety! https://youtu.be/pM70TROZQsI And last but not least, you can still find all of Brad Neely's Wizard People, Dear Reader, at least until some legal intern at Universal stumbles onto it: https://youtu.be/u981JhkK46o

Welcome back to the podcast. In this weeks episode the guys bring on a new segment called Video of the week. In this week’s video they bring you Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes and Brad Neely’s Washington Washington. Other than that Jesse got a new mattress and doesn’t care for it very much. General Soleimani, the Ukranian 737 Max that was shot down by Iranian forces, Adrenachorme and the new Jeffery Epstein documentary by ABC. Jesse also watched the documentary Don’t F**k with Cats and they talked about that. In Current events a Kentucky man skinned his neighbors dogs so he could make a “doggy coat”, a father and nine year old daughter were fatally shot in a hunting accident, a driver drove their car off a cliff in California and no one can find the car, a man head butted and choked his girlfriend after she complained of his farts, and a 93 year old man shot his landlord twice for not taking care of water damage in his apartment. In Florida Man a guy was high on meth, assaulted police officers and bit the K9 dog; a Florida man was found passed out on top of an Uber driver covered in blood; a guy exposes himself and slaps his butt in front of children during an argument; a man had his hand blown off inside his car on New Year’s Eve; a Florida man was arrested for fighting a gas pump; another man said someone broke into his house and sucked on his toes in the middle of the night; and lastly a guy digs up a WWII era landmine on the beech. For Florida Woman there was a woman accused of throwing her shit at her landlord; a woman was arrested for threatening to get more McDonald’s sauce by any means necessary; a woman gave birth to two sets of identical twins in a year; and a woman calls the Florida police after she heard someone screaming for help only to find out it was a parrot the whole time. It's the time of the season for loving, and the episode you've all been waiting for: the one where the off-camera producers tell all the kids in Bonanza City to talk about ~*RELIGION!!*~ From a twelve year old atheist to the one girl who knows "a bit about JEWISH", ignorance and pretense are at the forefront of this controversial bit of television. Lips are still chapped, Jonathan Karsh's real hands are still nowhere to be seen, Taylor continues to be terrible, and the Irish laborers (the green team) go back to steerage where the nineteenth century thinks they belong! Can a group of adequately intelligent children solve a simple puzzle in 30 whole minutes? Join us (like Carly's roommate did) to find out! Matty P Radio Presents: Marks v. Pros & Saturday Morning Cereal
Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. Join us for Part 2 of our big Adult Swim marathon! In this vintage episode we talk about the "cartoons for grown ups" phenomenon and continue our Adult Swim fascination with a look at China, IL. We talk to star Gary Anthony Williams, and creators-writers-producers-actors-songwriters Brad Neely and Daniel Weidenfeld.
(Originally Broadcast 02/28/14) - Begun as an open letter to strangers and fellow misfits, The Minus Times grew to become a hand-typed literary magazine that showcased the next generation of American fiction. Contributors include Sam Lipsyte, David Berman, Patrick DeWitt, and Wells Tower, with illustrations by David Eggers and Brad Neely as well as interviews with Dan Clowes, Barry Hannah, and a yet-to-be-famous Stephen Colbert. With sly humor and striking illustrations, The Minus Times has earned a fervent following as much for its lack of literary pretension as its sporadic appearances on the newsstand. All thirty of the nearly-impossible-to-find issues of this improvised literary almanac are now assembled for the first time, typos and all, in The Minus Times Collected, by Hunter Kennedy (Featherproof Books, 2012).
