The regular season began four months ago with what very well could be an AFC Championship Game preview, Ravens at Chiefs. It ends with what very well could be an NFC Championship Game preview, Vikings at Lions. The location of that possible third meeting between division foes will be determined on Sunday night when they battle for regular season NFC supremacy. Robert Mays and Derrik Klassen dive deep on that game to kick off the Week 18 preview episode of The Athletic Football Show. The guys also discuss the remaining playoff spots up for grabs—AFC 7-seed and NFC South winner—choose their own adventure for the NFC Wild Card round, and consider the contrasting makeup of the playoff fields within the two conferences.RundownVikings-Lions previewRemembering the first Bucs-Saints game of the seasonBuilding our ideal NFC Wild Card Round matchupsBengals-Steelers previewThe AFC 7-seedAFC's got the star QBs, NFC's got the expertly built teamsHost: Robert MaysCo-Host: Derrik KlassenExecutive Producer: Michael BellerProducer: Michael BellerSubscribe to The Athletic Football Show...AppleSpotifyYouTubeFollow Robert on Bluesky: @robertmays.bsky.socialFollow Derrik on Bluesky: @qbklass.bsky.socialFollow Robert on X: @robertmaysFollow Derrik on X: @QBKlassTheme song: HauntedWritten by Dylan Slocum, Trevor Dietrich, Ruben Duarte, Kyle McAulay, and Meredith VanWoert / Performed by Spanish Love SongsCourtesy of Pure Noise / By arrangement with Bank Robber Music, LLC Hosted on Acast. Charles Robinson & Frank Schwab kick off the Sunday night podcast reacting to Trey Lance's unfortunate ankle injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the season, Tua Tagovailoa's ascendant performance against Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens & the utterly bizarre Tampa Bay/New Orleans game that saw two players get ejected and a poor Microsoft Surface tablet destroyed at the hands of the GOAT Tom Brady.Later, the guys run through the rest of Sunday's 13 matchups including the Detroit Lions putting up another huge offensive game, more tales of woe from Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett & Joe Flacco of all people pulling out a win for the Jets against the Cleveland Browns.0:20 Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers15:50 Miami Dolphins @ Baltimore Ravens23:15 Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints28:55 Washington Commanders @ Detroit Lions32:25 Houston Texans @ Denver Broncos41:25 Arizona Cardinals @ Las Vegas Raiders46:40 Cincinnati Bengals @ Dallas Cowboys51:10 Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars55:20 New York Jets @ Cleveland Browns60:00 Atlanta Falcons @ Los Angeles Rams62:45 Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers64:05 New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers66:25 Carolina Panthers @ New York GiantsPlease support Terez Paylor's legacy:• Buy an All-Juice Team hoodie or tee from BreakingT.com/Terez. Hour 1: A tremendous sports weekend in NY as the Jets, Giants, Mets and Yankees all won. We also talked about the main storylines from the NFL this past weekend. Aaron Judge also hit 2 more HRs which brings his total to 59. Jerry is here for an update but first Gio tells us how he played bass with a band on Fire Island this weekend. The Jets beat the Browns as Joe Flacco threw for 307 and 4 TDs. The Jets came back down 13 with under 2 minutes to play. The Giants beat the Panthers. Aaron Rodgers threw a couple TDs to beat the Bears on SNF. Kyler Murray and the Cardinals came back to beat the Raiders. Cowboys beat the Bengals on a last second FG. The Ravens were up 35-14 to start the fourth quarter and allowed Tua to throw 4 in the fourth to win it. Jerry has audio of Aaron Judge hitting HR #59. The Mets beat the Pirates as deGrom gets a no decision in striking out 13. In the final segment of the hour, Aaron Judge could win a triple crown in a walk year. Could the Mets make a run at him? It will most likely be the Giants making a run at Judge. Hour 2: Brian Daboll is playing those that deserve to play. Kenny Golladay was barely used in the win yesterday. Saquon got going in the second half after a very unproductive first half. Gio thinks it's a foregone conclusion that Daniel Jones is gone after this year so they can bring in the QB they want. Trey Lance broke his ankle and is done for the year so Jimmy G is back. Boomer said the way Kyler Murray played yesterday doesn't win in the playoffs. There was some fighting in the Bucs/Saints game as the two teams seem to hate each other. Jerry returns for an update but first Boomer tells us he went to dinner with Eddie and his wife. Boomer also tells us Eddie has a ‘wealth management team'. The Jets came back late to beat the Browns. The Giants beat the Panthers but still have problems scoring TDs. The Dolphins beat the Ravens with a huge 4th quarter for Tua. In the final segment of the hour, Gio got a pop on The NFL Today when they played a clip from the show. A caller thinks the Giants defense has been really solid. Hour 3: The Mets swept the Pirates this weekend and it looks like the Mets/Braves is going to come down to the series where they play each other at the end of the season. The Mets have a tougher schedule than the Braves from here on out. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Jets comeback win in Cleveland. The Giants beat the Panthers despite kicking FGs instead of TDs on turnovers. Jimmy G came into the game to replace an injured Trey Lance and they beat the Seahawks. There was a dust up in the Bucs/Saints game where 2 players were ejected. In the final segment of the hour, we talk about there being two MNF games tonight. Doc Rivers' Twitter account was liking some porn sites. We are doing a live show from the Blue Point Brewery this Friday. Hour 4: Tonight we have Mets/Brewers and two Monday Night Football games. We talked about the Cowboys beating the Bengals and the Bengals dropping to 0-2. The Cowboys come to MetLife Monday night to play the Giants. What will the Jets do if Joe Flacco keeps playing well and Zach Wilson is ready to return? Jerry returns for his last update of the day and starts with postgame sound from Giants/Panthers. Jerry goes around the NFL with scores and audio. Aaron Judge hit two more HRs yesterday to reach 59 HRs. The Mets swept the Pirates this weekend. In the final segment of the show, Gio asks Boomer what's up with Frank Reich's Colts? Tyrod Taylor is suing the Chargers' doctor who injured him with a needle. Tom Brady is now taking off every Wednesday.

This is Prime Cuts! The best of The Colin Cowherd Podcast. First, Colin explains why Aaron Rodgers' treatment of rookie wide receivers is so predictable, if the Cowboys are toast with Dak Prescott out a reported 7 weeks, and if Russell Wilson should shoulder the blame for the Broncos dreadful late game clock management in his Seattle return. Then, Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow discusses the lingering effects of a physical Week 1 game against the Steelers, if a lack of reps following his appendectomy affected his performance, how he's able to shake off interceptions so easily, what it's like facing the elite pass rushers in AFC North on a weekly basis, if he wants to take preseason reps next year, how he processed the Super Bowl loss to the Rams, where he's improved most from his rookie year, how much influence he had in the Bengals picking his LSU teammate Ja'Marr Chase, why Cincinnati has been the perfect fit, why he's a cat guy and why he's embraced his trademark game day swag. Then, former Bears and Dolphins HC and FOX NFL analyst Dave Wannstedt on NFL Week 1, including Justin Fields' performance in a win over the Niners, if the Patriots unimpressive loss to the Dolphins is the first sign New England is on the downslide, if Aaron Rodgers can get on the same page with his young wide receivers, and if the Cowboys need to sign another QB with Dak out for almost two months. Then the Action Network's Chad Millman tells Colin if his NFL Week 2 picks are "sharp" or "square" for Patriots/Steelers, Bucs/Saints, Commanders/Lions, Jets/Browns, and Bengals/Cowboys.
