This week, a technologically-augmented interdimensional mummy runs amok on a replica of the Orient Express in space under the control of a terrifying alien intelligence or something. It's a day at the office for Doctor Who, in Mummy on the Orient Express. Notes and links Mummy on the Orient Express marks the triumphant return of Janet Henfrey to Doctor Who after about twenty-five years: she plays Miss Hardaker in The Curse of Fenric. She will come back some time after that to play the Adjudicator in Sil and the Seven Seeds of Arodor. David Bamber is in charge of this version of the Orient Express: Nathan recognises him immediately as Cicero in Rome and as Mr Collins in Pride and Prejudice. Richard notes that he plays [Adolf Hitler][] in Valkyrie (2008), and perhaps more terrifyingly Noel in Camping, a sitcom created by Julia Davis. Si saw him turn up in an episode of Endeavour, the Inspector Morse prequel set in the late 1960s. Meanwhile, Christopher Villiers returns to Doctor Who as Professor Moorhouse; thirty years earlier he was young Hugh Fitzwilliam in The King's Demons. Alarmingly, Richard is right to suggest that he is a descendant of the aristocracy. And finally, Frank Skinner is a famous standup comedian and radio presenter. The show Richard is thinking of may be The Rest is History on Radio 4, but he has been in many, many radio shows over the years. You can see John Sessions's 1994 audition to play the Doctor in the TV movie here on YouTube. He plays the terrifying General Tannis in the BBC webcast Death Comes to Time (2001). In 2018, Jenna Coleman starred in a TV miniseries called The Cry, which was shot in Australia. Kev & Rob both wish that the production of Star Trek: Picard Season 3 could have afforded just one more set this week as a very special Klingon Bird-of-Prey makes its return to the screen in "The Bounty". Rebinging Star Trek DS9: By Inferno's Light Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 5 episode 15 of Rebinge Deep Space Nine: By Inferno's Light! We wrap up our two-part story with lots of guest stars! We have Marc Alaimo as Gul Dukat, Melanie Smith as Ziyal, Andrew Robinson as Garak, JG Heltzler as Martok and Robert O'Reilly as Gowron. Not only do we need to survive the onslaught of Jem'Hadar ships from the end of last week's episode but we need to get Worf back to the Alpha Quadrant! By Inferno's Light We quickly put the death of Garak's dad behind us and try to figure out how to get the heck out of the internment camp. Back on the station we learn that Dukat has been up to no good for a long time and has aligned himself with the Dominion in order to become ruler of all of Cardassia (this seems like a very short-sighted plan). But maybe the biggest secret in this episode is the dark plan that Dukat and the Dominion have to destroy the Bajoran sun. Yikes! What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Please listen to some of our favorite episodes like Duet, The Visitor or Rejoined or our VERY SPECIAL episode: Star Trek First Contact. And be sure to listen to our previous episode S5E14: In Purgatory's Shadow. Next time... Join us next week for S5E16: Doctor Bashir, I Presume. Be sure and join our Facebook group and Follow Rebinge It on Twitter! Email us at rebingeit@gmail.com.

It's the sneaky two-parter we've been chatting up for a bit since it mucked up our scheduling! Things really hit the fan and a whole lot happens in the one-two punch that is "In Purgatory's Shadow" and "By Inferno's Light"! Worf and Garak are kidnapped by the Dominion while on a rescue mission, Julian is revealed to have been a Changeling for over a month, and in the least surprising betrayal ever SOMEONE is aligning with the Dominion to grab power for themselves! Also this week: meeting a possibly-worse father than Worf, Chekhov's Breen, and Cardassian molting. [Timestamp: combined episode summaries at 00:49]
It's thuddingly obvious at this point in Deep Space 9's run the question isn't really whether a two-parter is good or not so much as just how mind-meltingly awesome it is! And how could you ever go wrong with a space jail epic starring everybody's favorite Cardassian man of mystery Garak?! This week hosts Cam Smith and Tyler Orton, along with returning guest Patrick Johnson, lock themselves up with the show's fifth season Great Escape homage In Purgatory's Shadow & By Inferno's Light and relive Martok's return, Worf's warrior badassery and the legendary Bashir bombshell. An inarguably ambitious episode in concept, but does it work as both a satisfying standalone adventure as well as another escalating chapter in the broader Dominion war tapestry? Join the trio for their memorable return trip to Internment Camp 371 and find out! Right-click to download.Read more »

By Inferno's Light. Beginning in season three with “The Die Is Cast,” it was revealed that the Founders were infiltrating the Alpha-Beta powers by replacing key figures. In the fifth season two-parter comprising “In Purgatory's Shadow” and “By Inferno's Light,” this is taken to a new level when a member of DS9's own crew is replaced. The revelation that the Doctor Bashir with whom everyone had been interacting for a month was actually a Changeling was shocking to viewers, and it sent ripples backward on the timeline—to say nothing of what it meant for the present and future. In this episode of The Orb, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing discuss the second half of this duology, focusing on the ever-changing nature of Garak, whether or not Changeling Bashir was acting on orders or just making things up as he went, Dukat's motivations, and whether going to warp in a solar system is really a bad thing. We also discuss the similarities between the Jem'Hadar and the Klingons, why Ikat'ika decided to play his yield, and how movie night works on Cardassia Prime. The Cavalcade of Guests goes on! This week, we’re joined by a bona fide, genuine Trek expert and blogger, Byron Diffenderffer! He joins us to talk about his favorite episode, By Inferno’s Light. We figure out which Earth dictator Dukat most closely resembles, we try to determine just how honorable the Jem’Hadar are (or aren’t), we examine Garak’s claustrophobia and finally start to tackle the bombshell that is Bashir’s genetically engineered origins. All that, plus Byron schools us on some things that even we three DS9/Trek-obsessed podcasters aren’t aware of and with all of that going on, we STILL manage to fit in some time to trash Voyager! For more of Byron’s Star Trek insights, be sure to check out his blog at http://trekisnotadirtyword.blogspot.com/
