The Edmonton Oilers put an end to their three game losing streak last night with a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Place. It did not start well for the Oilers who found themselves down 1-0 heading towards the end of the first. Trevor Moore capitalized on a couple of mistakes giving the Kings a strong start. Edmonton fought back with a great goal from Zach Hyman but not long into the second a mistake from Evan Bouchard gave the Kings a gift of a goal. A big third period from Edmonton helped them come away with a victory thanks to goals from Bouchard and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins late in the period.Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin go live on the Oilersnation YouTube for Oilersnation Everyday at noon. What were your thoughts on the game? Leave your questions, comments and concerns in the Charm Diamond Centre YouTube live chat throughout the show. Your opinions are strongly encouraged during the duration of Oilersnation Everyday.Oilersnation contributor Bruce Curlock joins Tyler and Liam midway through the show. A few players have taken a step recently including local product Carter Savoie. Bruce will give his thoughts on Savoie's play along with who could come up and help Edmonton. Additionally, what players have value in Bakersfield? Bruce will give us the inside scoop. Finally, today's Sherwood Ford GIANT question surrounds the Oilers deadline plans. Speculation started yesterday that Ken Holland may have changed his plans after the Oilers recent skid. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
There has been no Edmonton Oilers hockey for the past four days, so we are only two days away from a game day. The Oilers will return on the ice Wednesday night at Rogers Place to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. If you remember back to their previous matchup, you could argue that the third period was the most significant turning point of the Oilers season. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, though, there are some other most recent Edmonton conversations we need to talk about. Jack Campbell is the biggest headline in the city after the rumours swirled around about his return to Edmonton. Well, his performance on Saturday night put a hold on that idea. Campbell allowed four goals on 35 shots in a 6-4 loss to the Texas Rangers. Two of the goals were not up to NHL standard either. So what now? Bruce Curlock from Oilersnation will give us his thoughts on Campbell's future in the NHL, especially on what it would take for him to return to Edmonton. Additionally, Bruce will give us an update on other prospects in the Oilers system, including Cameron Wright, Jake Stonehouse and Carter Savoie. If you want to contribute something to the conversation, head over to the Oilersnation YouTube channel and leave your thoughts in the Finning/CAT YouTube live chat. Your questions, comments and concerns will be welcomed throughout the show.Shoutout to the episode's sponsors: Betway: https://betway.com/en/sports Sherwood Ford: https://www.sherwoodford.ca/ Sports Closet: https://sportscloset.ca/ Greta Bar Edmonton: https://www.gretabar.com/locations/edmontonAlberta Blue Cross: https://www.ab.bluecross.ca/index.php Star Mechanical: https://starmechanical.ca/Visit www.nationgear.ca for merch and more.Follow us on Instagram @oilersnationdotcomFollow us on Twitter/Facebook/TikTok @OilersNationReach out to sales@thenationnetwork.com to connect with our Sales Team and discuss opportunities to partner with us! The Edmonton Oilers three game home stand did not go as planned. After beating the Nashville Predators earlier in the week, a seven second blunder prevented them from beating the New Jersey Devils and then a lacklustre performance versus Dallas Stars gave the Oilers a 1-2-0 record at home. Now, Connor McDavid and the Oilers look to get back in the win column when they take on the Washington Capitals tonight. The Caps have struggled to find consistency for much of the season and head into this game on a four game losing streak. Also on the show, we will be joined by Ryan Holt from the Bakersfield Condors. Holt is here to give us an update on what has been going on down in California. He talked about the Condors recent run of wins, the play of first rounder Xavier Bourgault along with other players like Michael Kesselring, Carter Savoie and Philip Broberg. To close out the show, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin talked about their favourite Connor McDavid goals ahead of his 500th game tonight.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZELGkmQJ0I Hosted on Acast. NCAA President Mark Emmert says all options are on the table. NCAAFB – Kelly on leaving Irish for LSU: ‘We were on different paths’ Brian Kelly is settled in at LSU after 12 seasons at Notre Dame. Kelly tells The Associated Press he wanted to be at a place where he had all “the resources to win a national championship.” He says he was prepared to spend the rest of his career at Notre Dame. But he says they ended up on different paths on how to get there. He says he is fine with the change. LSU gave the 60-year-old coach a 10-year, $95 million contract. Golf – The Masters – Im leads, Woods plays well Tiger Woods played pretty well at the Masters on Thursday. Sungjae Im was a little better. Im opened with a 5-under 67 for a one-stroke lead over Cameron Smith at Augusta National. He recovered from a pair of bogeys with a 12-foot eagle putt on the 13th and added a late birdie. Smith opened and closed with double bogeys, but he also had eight birdies. Scottie Scheffler and Dustin Johnson are two shots back, as are Danny Willett and Joaquin Niemann. Woods had three birdies and two bogeys in a 1-under 71 that leaves him tied for 11th. It was his first competitive round since shattering a leg in a car accident 14 months ago. Another Monday is upon us which means a brand new episode of the Real Life Podcast is all set and ready to get your week started! This week, the guys covered another listener survey, hangover problems, and welcomed former NHL defenceman and current assistant coach of the Sherwood Park Crusaders, Jeff Woywitka, to the show to talk about his career, the World Juniors, and Carter Savoie. To kick off today's podcast, the guys got started by recapping their weekend since all four guys showed up for the recording hungover. Seeing as it's December and truly the season to enjoy a few cocktails from time to time, it was hilarious to hear the boys struggle through this week's podcast. From there, they got back to business with a brand new listener profile, which was quickly derailed since the boys couldn't seem to focus on much of anything in the first half of the podcast. Thankfully, the guys were thrilled to welcome former NHL defender, Jeff Woywitka, to talk about life on the farm, his NHL career, the World Junior Championships, and what's it been like to make the jump to coaching. From his time on the farm in Vermillion to climbing hockey's ranks on his way to the NHL to coaching Carter Savoie in Sherwood Park, Woywitka's journey through hockey was pretty incredible to listen to and an interview that you'll definitely want to hear. It's Friday afternoon and that means a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio has been wrapped up, edited into a masterpiece, and ready to stimulate your ear feelings as you head into the weekend. This week, we looked at the NHL's return, points predictions for the dynamic duo, World Juniors, and a whole lot more. To kick off this week's podcast, we jumped in with a look at the upcoming NHL season after it was announced that the league would be starting up on January 13th for a 56-game season. Knowing that the NHL is coming back, we did a way-too-early points prediction for Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, guessing how many points the dynamic will get in an abbreviated campaign. We also looked at the All-Canadian Division, specifically at the team or teams that are likely to provide the biggest challenge for the Oilers in an abbreviated season. Jumping into the Giant Question of the Week, we discussed the best possible path for Evan Bouchard in 2021 and guessed at whether or not Ken Holland will bring him back from Sweden for training camp or leave him in the Allsvenskan league for the time being. Next up, we ran through a quick preview of the World Juniors Championship that's slated to kick off in the city a little bit later in the month and offered up some love to Dylan Holloway who was named to the team's roster this morning. Sticking with the prospects, we wrapped up this week's podcast with a look at the amazing start to the season that Carter Savoie having with the University of Denver, which is drawing all kinds of attention here at the Nation. 3 NHL draft picks join the show
It's Friday afternoon and that means a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio is wrapped up, edited into an auditory masterpiece, and set to get you ready for the weekend. This week, we recapped the NHL Draft, looked at the early hours of free agency, and took a few guesses on what's to come. It's been a very busy week for the National Hockey League and we kicked off today's episode of the podcast with a look at free agency and the moves the Oilers have been able to pull off so far. To start, we looked at some of the rumours that have been circling our team over the past couple of weeks, including reports from the likes of Bob McKenzie that Ken Holland would be going all-in on Jacob Markstrom. Yet, as the morning went on, it became clear that Markstrom's ask was too high for the Oilers to make work and Holland was forced to walk away. From there, we looked at the work that the Oilers were able to get done today, including the two-year deal for Kyle Turris that came down this morning as well as the one-year extension for Tyler Ennis. For all of us, it was actually surprising to see how much Ken Holland has been able to get done for as little money as he has, which is the level of GMing we haven't really seen much around here. Getting away from free agency for a moment, we looked back at the NHL Draft and the first draft in franchise history where they picked only forwards. From Dylan Holloway in the first round to Carter Savoie in the fourth round, the Oilers clearly had a plan to replenish their forward depth and they executed on it. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast by heading back to free agency and taking some swings at what the Oilers might look to do in the coming days. Hosted on Acast. Another Thursday means another episode of the Real Life Podcast is here to wrap up the week and get you set for the weekend. This week, the boys recapped the NHL Draft, previewed free agency, and Jesse Puljujarvi's return to Edmonton. To kick off this week's podcast, the boys got started with a look at this week's NHL Draft and how the Edmonton Oilers did with their six selections. From choosing Dylan Holloway at 14th overall to picking up local product, Carter Savoie, in the fourth round, the Oilers picked nothing but forwards at the draft as Ken Holland and his staff looked to replenish the depth chart with forwards. From there, the conversation turned to Jesse Puljujarvi's long-anticipated return to the Edmonton Oilers and what that will mean for the depth chart going forward. With a cheap, two-year contract now in his pocket, the hard work begins for Puljujarvi as he looks to make sure his second tour in Edmonton works out better than the first. Finally, the guys wrapped up this week's podcast with a look ahead at free agency and took a few swings on what the Oilers might be up to at the start of the NHL's shopping season. Hosted on Acast.
