As co-host Tom says, today's episode is a bit of an ugly number — we're talking Tyler Ennis, one of a handful of fellas to have worn the number 63! He played with 5 teams, most notably in Buffalo with the Sabres, but also had stops in Minnesota, Toronto, Ottawa and his hometown Edmonton. Won some Canadian gold in junior and once scored 6 goals in a game for the Medicine Hat Tigers — nice work bud! Then we do our weekly round up to see how the playoff picture has shifted — who is in, who is out and whose season is slippin' away. Finally, we recap a real barn burner of a week in the Garage League — 16 round shootouts and game 7's!
We are joined by former Edmonton Oiler Tyler Ennis to discuss the Oilers' current struggles, his take on what the Oilers need at the deadline, and any trade deadline stories from his long NHL career.Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!
It's nearing panic time in Edmonton as the Oilers have lost six of their last seven games and are 3-7-0 in their last 10. With the NHL Trade Deadline looming, the pressure is mounting, and they'll look to Stuart Skinner in goal tonight to help get things back on track against a Montreal Canadiens team that currently sits outside of a playoff spot.Tuesday night saw Connor McDavid returning to form, but can he keep it up? Will Leon Draisaitl continue to be the lone consistent forward on the team over the last two weeks? The Oilers need all hands on deck to snap out of this funk before things spiral even further. We'll go through our lineup report, our Sherwood Ford Giant Question, rumour mill, as well as some viewer submitted mock trades. Throw some in the chat when we're live and that could be discussed! Of course, we'll close it out with our game day Bet365 betting challenge. We'll also be joined by former Edmonton Oiler Tyler Ennis to discuss the Oilers' current struggles, his take on what the Oilers need at the deadline, and any trade deadline stories from his long NHL career. With time running out before the deadline, what do the Oilers need to do to turn this around? Conquer Divide have just revealed their latest single, ‘Bad Dreams' featuring Michigan metalcore heroes Of Virtue. The single comes ahead of their U.K. and European tour dates with Ankor from February 7th to March 16th. This, following their late January UK tour with New Years Day. The song combines Conquer Divide's ability to mix luscious and captivating vocals and hooks with their crushing intensity, both musically and lyrically, on this introspective slab of inner turmoil, which is complemented by Of Virtue's vocalists Tyler Ennis and Damon Tate's melodic turned raging contributions. A Deluxe Edition of their most recent album ‘Slow Burn' was released digitally on September 27th and featured an additional six recordings. About Slow Burn, we described it as: A statement making album, Conquer Divide are eyeing up big things in their future and have one hell of an album that will help push them upwards. Slow Burn is a brash and vibrant showcase of modern anthemic sounds, oozing relatable honesty and passion from beginning to end. The band doing a good job of blending chaotic dynamism and animated melody across its twelve tracks. When people talk about Canadian basketball players, they usually think of Steve Nash and Andrew Wiggins first. But there's a new breed of ballers from the Great White North, and Tyler Ennis is one of the best. His father, Tony, is a legendary coach who basically invented AAU-style travel ball north of the border. Tyler's parents moved the family south to St. Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey so that their son would have a better chance of landing a Division 1 college scholarship. As a standout guard, the five-star recruit did just that, getting a full ride to play at Syracuse. In his first season balling for the Orange, Tyler earned All-ACC second team, All-ACC Freshmen Team, and All-ACC Defensive Team honors. On February 28, 2014, Ennis was named one of the ten semi-finalists for the Naismith College Player of the Year, and proceeded to lead the Orange past Western Michigan in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Tyler's decision to then go pro was validated when he was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns. After spending time on the roster and in the D League, Tyler was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, and later played for the Houston Rockets and LA Lakers, before taking his talents to Turkey. In this episode, Tyler riffs on: What being in “Night School” with a young Giannis Antetokounmpo taught him How Jason Kidd showed him what it means to be a floor generalWhy playing overseas has added to his gameHow he's keeping the faith after battling back from a leg fracture and achilles tendon ruptureWhat young players should know about the hard path to college and the LeagueKeep up with Tyler's basketball journey on his Instagram feed and on Twitter HERE This episode is brought to you by:Stria Sport: https://striasport.comWeartesters: https://weartesters.com
