In this episode, we break down another third-period collapse, wonder what the Stars are doing resting key players while Oettinger gets shelled, and debate whether this team is actually ready to face Colorado in Round 1. We also talk about lineup choices like Wyatt Johnston's new role, Colin Blackwell vs. Mavrik Bourque, and whether Dallas should even entertain the idea of an 11-7 lineup (spoiler: no).

The Dallas Stars get a huge win over the Carolina Hurricanes by a final score of 4-2 yesterday at home. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey celebrates one of the most complete wins of the season for the Stars against one of the hottest teams in the NHL. The Stars we're really good in different facets of the game, and more importantly closed out the game in the 3rd period. Jason Robertson scored the go ahead goal and Matt Duchene sealed the win with an empty netter. Joey explains how important that game was in giving him confidence in the Stars moving forward and winning games come playoff time. Roope Hintz tallied a goal and Jani Hakanpaa chipped in with two assists. All in all a great night at the AAC. The next topic is about the recent news of Evgenii Dadonov who will be out for 4 to 6 weeks with a lower body injury he suffered against Montreal on the weekend. Not only does this give Ty Dellandrea an opportunity to play on an every day basis, but Dallas may have to make a call up from the Texas Stars. Which begs the question, do we get to see Logan Stankoven of Mavrik Bourque? Joey discusses the options the Stars have moving forward with the Dadonov injury. The final segment highlights Jake Oettinger who made 32 saves in his 3rd straight win and 6th straight win at home which ties a career high. Otter playing some of his best hockey of the season makes the Stars a very dangerous team with the depth they currently have. The Dallas Stars have some of the best prospects in the American Hockey League this season in Logan Stankoven and Mavrik Bourque, but where does the entire prospect pool rank. Joey takes a look at an article from The Athletic that ranked the Stars prospect pool 21st out of 32 teams. We look at individual players including Lian Bichel, Aram Minnietian and Christian Kyrou who are three young defensemen that have abilities and characteristics that the current Stars are lacking. We highlight some of those traits and how how important it is to his on some of these prospects since you more than likely plan to move off some players like Jani Hakanpaa and Esa Lindell in the near future. The juicy part of the episode revolves around tonights game against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes have been on a role lately and Joey explains the similar styles the Stars and Hurricanes like to play and why it makes such a fun match up. The first period will be a crucial one for Dallas who is coming off a three game road trip. Carolina has been outscored 26-21 in the first period on the road this season. Stars need a fast start and play with a lead in front of Jake Oettinger. The return of shooting star calls for the first time this player has been chosen. Roope Hintz has two points in his last five games. Going up against fellow countrymen Sebastian Aho, will spur on Hintz to a big night and hopefully a Stars win.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The Dallas Stars like many teams are limited with their options due to cap space and Matt Duchene is the current headliner of Stars due up for a new contract. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, we take a look at the current cap situation for the Dallas Stars and which may players may stay or test free agency. Ty Dellandrea and Sam Steel are two forwards that are intriguing, Dellandrea has been healthy scratched more of often than not this season, but is only 23 and teams may target him as a potential trade piece. Sam Steel has been a great addition for the Stars, but will he be looking for something more stable moving forward? However the Stars can let them both walk because Mavrik Bourque and Logan Stankoven look to be more than ready to make the jump up the NHL. We also look at defenseman Nils Lundkvist and Jani Hakanpaa and what their futures might hold. The second segment is a comparison of the 99 Stanley Cup Champion Stars and the current team. Yes this maybe a bit silly, but it is fun to take a look at the makeup and how much the game has changed in two decades. Besides the the 99 team being littered with Hall of Famers, through 49 games, the two teams have very similar records. Perhaps a good sign for this season? Finally, Joey gives a synopsis of a Sean Shapiro story about Esa Lindell finding his way into ownership of a storied hockey club in Finland he once played for.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The burning question of today's episode of Locked On Stars is are the Dallas Stars frauds?? The Stars are off to a phenomenal start this season, heading into the All-Star Break they have 66 points through 49 games and find themselves fifth in the NHL. They have the 3rd best offense scoring 6.68 goals per game and flex that in the majority of their wins this season, but their are underlying issues. The Stars are one of three teams ranked in the top 10 in points this season, out of the top 10 in goals against per game and save percentage, usually categories Stanley Cup teams are very good in. Jake Oettinger has certainly not played his best hockey and if finds his rhythm the Stars will be very dangerous. Joey explains his reasoning behind the question and why might some people lean one side of the aisle versus the other. What is your answer to the question? The conversation then switches to the dominance of Miro Heiskanen and Thomas Harley. Harley has 12 goals this season after two on Saturday including his 3rd OT winner of the season, and Heiskanen has three points in his first two games back from injury. Joey then seaways into his thoughts on the Capitals game and once again how the Stars struggle to close out teams. This time surrendering two goals with under 5 minutes to push the game to overtime. The final segment revolves around Logan Stankoven of the Texas Stars. He becomes the first player in the NHL season to hit 50 points. He's on a four game point streak with four goals in his last five games including an OT winner. He will head to the AHL All-Star game along fellow teammates Mavrik Bourque and Matej Blumel.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Roope Hintz is having another spectacular season for the Dallas Stars and is the most underrated player in the NHL. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey explains why Hintz is so impactful for the Stars and why he maybe gets forgotten about playing along Jason Robertson and Matt Duchene's immediate impact. A complete 200 foot player that thrives in his own zone just as much as he does offensively, at some point he will crack the top 10 in Selke voting. With all the shake ups in the lines this season or even in years past, one thing stays the same, Hintz is the top line center. He drives the line with his speed and makes his line-mates better. The next segment revolves around the Anaheim Ducks, Miro Heiskanen scored twice in the matchup which was the 3rd game of the season for the Stars. Heiskanen may return after not playing since Jan. 4th, but the Stars should have no trouble with a team that ranks one of the worst in the league this season. Finally, the podcast finishes off with an update on the Texas Stars. The month of January has been one to forget so far, the Stars have only won one game and on a six game losing streak leading into last night's game. Starting with the the top players under 23, Wyatt Johnston comes in at number 10, the rankings include grades on Skating, Puck Skills, Hockey Awareness and more. Joey has a bone to pick with the skating rating they gave Johnston. Each player is among a tier as well, Johnston's tier was NHL All-Star. Other names that made the list were Logan Stankoven, Thomas Harley, Lian Bichel and Mavrik Bourque. The next list is the most improved players in the NHL this season, some names such as Tyler Seguin were left off the list since he is a big name that is having a bounce back season. At number 3 is Thomas Harley, not only has Harley established himself as an every day player, but a top pairing defensemen who's been productive offensively with minimal power play time. Since December, he's playing just over 21 minutes per game and has played the most amongst defensemen since the injury of Miro Heiskanen. To finish the episode, we preview the Philadelphia Flyers. The Stars begin a four game road trip tonight and have to face a much improved Flyers team that is 2nd in the Metro division. Joey looks at players such as Travis Konecny, Joel Farabee, Travis Solheim and they're stud goalie Carter Hart. The Dallas Stars hit the halfway point of the season tonight against the Nashville Predators as Jason Robertson looks for his fourth straight game with a goal. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey believes Robertson is on the verge of huge surge offensively. Robo has 17 points in last 14 games, with just 15 goals this season it's a matter of time before he hits his stride. His trip completed by Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski are playing some of their best hockey recently and we're starting to see some of those vintage Robertson plays we've been accustomed too in his young career. With his goal on Wednesday, he now has 119 goals in 250 career games, Joey discussed where that ranks above U.S born scorers and more. The Stars play a back to back beginning with Nashville tonight and on the road in Chicago on Saturday. We look back at the crucial 10 game stretch the Stars began just before the new year. With Connor Bedard injured, the Stars have a great chance of taking all four points this weekend. Also, it looks like Jake Oettinger is returning! Finally, down on the farm the Texas Stars are sending three forwards to the 2024 AHL All-Stars Game. No surprise, the AHL leading scorer Mavrik Bourque and leading rookie scorer Logan Stankoven are on their way, but also Matej Blumel was honored for his play so far. The Dallas Stars return from Christmas break tonight to face the St. Louis Blues on the road after a thrilling victory against Nashville last Saturday. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey looks ahead at a 10 game stretch for the Dallas Stars that could be crucial for their chances to win the central division. Six out of the ten games are against teams not in the playoffs, seven out of ten are home games and nine of them are against central division opponents. The Stars have a 6-1-1 record in division and now have won four straight home games, currently tied for first with Colorado, the Stars can make a statement in the next 10 games and have a chance to solidify themselves at the top and hopefully get more out of players like Wyatt Johnston who have been goal less in the month. The next segment is an in depth look at the Blues and why it's so important for the Stars to match their physicality. Both meetings this season have gone to overtime and the rough and heavy style of the Blues has been apparent in the matchup this season. Jordan Binnington in net for the Blues has played well against the Stars in his career, but Jason Robertson is someone to look out for who has had his way with St. Louis in his young career. The final segment highlights Stars prospect Mavrik Bourque! Bourque was honored with the AHL Player of the Week, which was no surprise after scoring five goals in two games including the first four goal game in Texas Stars history. Which included the game tying goal and overtime winner to lead Texas past Grand Rapids. He leads the AHL in scoring this season in his 2nd year with the Stars and will be just a matter of time before he makes the jump to the NHL.Follow Joey on Twitter.com: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

He leads the AHL in scoring this season in his 2nd year with the Stars and will be just a matter of time before he makes the jump to the NHL. What is on your Dallas Stars Christmas List for this season? On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey gives his top 3 wishes on his list which include a right shot defensemen, returning to a shutdown defensive team in terms of goals against and for Wyatt Johnston to get out of his scoring slump. It's no surprise the Stars need another defensemen, but with only one righty playing on an everyday basis, another body could potentially have Miro Heiskanen or Thomas Harley play on their strong side that could do wonders in their own zone and possibly an uptick in offense. In past seasons, the Stars have ranked in the top 5 in goals against average, as of right now they are 14th.Wyatt Johnston has not scored a goal in 11 games, the Stars offense has not dipped because of it, but if he gets his scoring touch back it will could lift them too new heights. In the 2nd segment, Joey touches on the Stars defense providing offense in the month of December. He provides some support to why it's important that the group continues to produce in order for them to get where they want to be. Even Jani Hakanpaa and Esa Lindell are finding points along the way. Finally, how about that performance from Mavrik Bourque for the Texas Stars last night. Bourque scored all four goals in a 4-3 win for Texas including the OT winner. Of course, Logan Stankoven assisted on three of the goals as both are the top two scorers in the AHL.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

With the Dallas Stars having a few days off, on today's episode of Locked On Stars Joey gives three names the Stars should look at as potential trade targets. Of course, a lot of is dependent on cap space and what the Stars can provide, is Ty Dellandrea, Nils Lundkvist or Jani Hakanpaa expendable? The three names are three defensemen, Sean Walker from Philadelphia, Chris Tanev from Calgary who has recently suffered and injury and finally Brett Pesce from Carolina. These three players have multiple things in common, number one they are right shot defensemen which the Stars desperately and number two play a more defensive style of game which could really help add some depth to the Stars D core that is very thin. Then Joey provides an update about the Texas Stars who are currently in first place in the Central Division and holster the two leading scorers in the league with Logan Stankoven and Mavrik Bourque. Who knows, with the potential of the Stars having to make some moves in order to be a real contender, maybe Stankoven and Bourque will get some time in the NHL down the stretch. Finally, Jamie Benn recorded his 500th career assist on Miro Heiskanen's power play goal on Monday as he continues to climb franchise leaderboards. Joey reflects on his time with the Stars and how much of an impact he has had besides questions about his contract.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
