Technically, what's Askarov have to do to reach elite NHL status? But before we get to Kevin, let's talk about the San Jose Sharks' return from the 4 Nations break and more! (2:30) Askarov has a minor lower-body injury, why might some rest be good for him? Nikolai Kovalenko made waves with his comments to a Russian podcast about Ryan Warsofsky. Our thoughts on Kovalenko's clarification and how Warsofsky treats Russian players. (9:00) Nico Sturm doesn't think that he's going to be with the San Jose Sharks for long. What will Sturm and other Trade Deadline candidates like Luke Kunin, Jan Rutta, and Mario Ferraro fetch? (22:56) We also discuss the Sharks' two post-break losses at the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets: Who's impressed us? What did we think of Warsofsky's decision to start Alex Wennberg in OT against the Jets? (33:30) And now, Kevin Woodley! (1:04:08) Does Askarov have the potential to be a Connor Hellebuyck-level goaltender for the San Jose Sharks? What's he got to do to get there? What are Kevin's perceptions of Askarov's antics, like his celebrations? (1:15:40) What's the value of keeping Askarov in the AHL this year? Will Alexandar Georgiev or Vitek Vanecek pair with Askarov next season? (1:29:30) Where does Woodley rank Askarov among the top young goalie prospects in the league? (1:35:10) How does Kevin view the work of the San Jose Sharks' current goaltending regime, director Evgeni Nabokov, goaltending coach Thomas Speer, and goalie scout Ryan Miller?

Should the San Jose Sharks have traded for David Jiricek? (1:23:35) Keegan and Sheng talk about it on this week's episode of the San Jose Hockey Now Podcast! But before we talk Jiricek, we chat about the latest San Jose Sharks' news and their recent inspired play. What did we think of Joe Thornton's jersey retirement? (04:45) We talk about Sharks prospects who were invited to their World Junior selection camps like Sam Dickinson and Brandon Svoboda -- and about prospects who aren't going to World Juniors like Will Smith and Quentin Musty. (09:40) Meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks have been playing some good hockey. (25:33) We discuss Rookie of the Month and NHL 1st Star of the Week Macklin Celebrini, and what Sheng was worried that Will Smith was going to lose (but didn't). Keegan runs a lap for Fabian Zetterlund around Timo Meier, and praises William Eklund. We credit GM Mike Grier for his veteran additions like Alex Wennberg, Jake Walman, and Timothy Liljegren. Obligatory Luke Kunin reference. (57:51) Keegan doesn't think that Grier will trade Mackenzie Blackwood. (1:19:05) Finally, let's talk David Jiricek! (1:23:35) Before Jiricek got traded to the Minnesota Wild, Sheng talked with a lot of his sources about Jiricek. What does the rest of the league think of Daemon Hunt and Jiricek? Does Jiricek project as a top-pairing or top-four blueliner? What's the San Jose Sharks' best equivalent to the Wild's 2025 first-rounder…William Eklund, Shakir Mukhamadullin, or Musty?…and would Sheng or Keegan have parted with any of these assets for Jiricek? (1:38:06) Which prospect would you rather have in your system, Jiricek or Yaroslav Askarov? Thanks for watching and subscribing to the San Jose Hockey Now Podcast!

Brock has done some more studying on JJ McCarthy and he says McCarthy just does whatever it takes to get the win. If John Schneider and Mike Macdonald like him, they need to do everything they can to make a move and get him. Then, we talk to Rob Simpson of Simmerpuck about the Kraken trading Alex Wennberg, rumors that Jordan Eberle is next and why Shane Wright hasn't been elevated. Plus, Justin and Salk have an extra lengthy list for Ranked.
There were a few NHL trades yesterday including the Rangers acquiring Alex Wennberg from the Kraken. Boomer breaks it down. We then took calls on the bail reform disaster that is NYC and NY state. C-Lo returns for an update but first Gio said there's one guy on Twitter that really loves C-Lo and always tweets about him. C-Lo starts with Carlos Rodon having a not so great outing in spring training. Diana Russini was on Pardon My Take and she said Jets fans are in denial and blame her instead of the Jets. She said, ‘it's a mess in New York, it's really bad'. Aaron Rodgers was also on a podcast and really wants the punter and kicker back. Alrighty then. C-Lo has audio from the Kelce brothers podcast and there was almost more crying. Travis also talked about going to Australia to meet up with Taylor Swift. If Swift and Kelce break up, it better be her fault or he is finished with the public. In the final segment of the hour, there are multiple people who went to the Dolphins/Chiefs game who now have to have their fingers and toes amputated due to frostbite. We also talked about the NFL game that's going to be played in Brazil.
Hour 1 Gio said the Giants are going to repeat history again in this draft. They are going to take JJ McCarthy in the draft the same way they did with Daniel Jones. Gio said he will be next up on the ‘hamster wheel of turds'. Boomer likes McCarthy and said he's been a winner since high school. Gio said he's the type of QB the Giants love for some reason. He called McCarthy, ‘John Mara's pin-up girl'. Gio also thinks Mara is talking to Bill Belichick about his thoughts on McCarthy. Then when Belichick takes over for Brian Daboll, he will have the QB he wants in McCarthy. Belichick was at a cheerleading competition on Saturday in Maryland and we have no idea why he was there. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update and starts with some Yankees spring training and Carlos Rodon's pitching troubles. Sal Licata already has Juan Soto going to the Mets and it's only early March. Gio saw Evan Roberts in person yesterday and he asked to come on the show to promote his book. The Rangers acquired Alex Wennberg from the Seattle Kraken. In the final segment of the hour, two dismembered bodies were found in Babylon. Four people were arrested for this and are out on the streets thanks to bail reform. And now we're putting the National Guard down in the subway. Hour 2 There were a few NHL trades yesterday including the Rangers acquiring Alex Wennberg from the Kraken. Boomer breaks it down. We then took calls on the bail reform disaster that is NYC and NY state. C-Lo returns for an update but first Gio said there's one guy on Twitter that really loves C-Lo and always tweets about him. In the final segment of the hour, there are multiple people who went to the Dolphins/Chiefs game who now have to have their fingers and toes amputated due to frostbite. We also talked about the NFL game that's going to be played in Brazil. Hour 3 What have the Mets done this offseason that should excite Mets fans? The Mets led with the hiring of David Stearns. We also talked about the various proposals for what they're going to put around Citi-Field. Gio called it ‘clash of the billionaires'. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with a poll from the afternoon show asking who had a better NFL career, Boomer or Tiki? The midday show also discussed it and BT said he would have loved to play with Boomer but Tiki was the better player. Sal picked Boomer since he won an MVP. In the final segment of the hour, Derek Jeter will be producing two shows for the History Channel that have nothing to do with baseball. Hour 4 We talked about NFL free agency including Russell Wilson and Saquon Barkley. If you're Saquon, who are you picking? Gio said he would pick the Houston Texans. Good Morning Football on NFL Network is moving from NY to L.A. for the 2024 season. C-Lo returns for an update but first we found out Spike is down in Clearwater, Florida, doing spring training Philly shows for WIP. And he's trying to hide it from us. Shaq was doing a podcast with Cam Newton and talked about media guys that never played who criticize, like Mad Dog. The great George Brett wants a locker room urinal from Royals stadium for his house. He wanted one from the Yankee stadium locker room. The Moment of The Day involves our search for a new Program Director at WFAN. In the final segment of the show, Jake Paul is fighting Mike Tyson live on Netflix in July. Gio hopes it's real unlike Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather.
