Kicking off the Tuesday podcast, we started the podcast with a very strange conversation about Liam's fashion sense after he confessed that he doesn't like wearing t-shirts. Coupled with a Nation Gear staff gift question, Liam's wardrobe turned into a fantastic opening segment that no one saw coming. Getting back to the actual podcast, we got going with a delicious debate about what is the greatest X-factor for the Oilers down the stretch. Whether it's defencemen stepping up or players finding ways to score when it matters most, there are plenty of potential options to choose from. As you'll hear, there were plenty of interesting choices that ranged across the board. We also spent a few minutes talking about goaltending after the Oilers signed Olivier Rodrique to a one-year contract extension. The guys also discussed former friend, Mikko Koskinen, announcing his retirement upon the completion of the Swiss season. In hindsight, were we too hard on Mikko?Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of Can You Clear That Up for Me before wrapping up the podcast with some score predictions ahead of tomorrow's matchup with the Jets. A new week is here and that means the gang from the Real Life Podcast is back with a brand new episode to help you get through what's left of your Monday. On today's podcast, the guys looked at Broadway musicals, Jay's random gift, and a whole lot more.To kick things off, the guys got the podcast started with a chat about Broadway after the Tony Awards took place last night to celebrate musical theatre. As you'd expect, no one on the podcast had much to say about Broadway so the conversation quickly changed directions to random gifts they've received over the years. That led Jay to tell a story about getting a gift from Oilers legend, Rod Philips, as he randomly walked past the former broadcaster's house with his dog. Somehow, Jay talking about his gift from Phillips resulted in a walk down memory lane about the origins of the podcast and how the lineup has evolved over time. How bad were the titles of the podcast back in the day? Shocking, in fact. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the podcast with a foolproof plan from Tyler Yaremchuk on how you can win prizes a whole lot more easily than you may expect. A bonus episode of Better Lait Than Never? On a Saturday? After a big Oilers win? Absolutely. After coming up with a huge win in Game 2 of their series against the Calgary Flames, the Edmonton Oilers are coming back to Edmonton with some momentum and I was absolutely fired up about it. Heading into Game 3 with the series tied, the Oilers have the opportunity to steal home-ice advantage away from a Calgary team that has been unable to stop Edmonton's offence. Led by Connor McDavid, the Oilers looked as solid as ever in last night's game, and if you're willing to ignore the first six minutes, they outscored the Flames by a 7-1 margin through the final 50 minutes. Sure, two of those goals were called back by horrible officiating and a questionable goalie interference call, but even that wasn't enough to stop our boys from willing themselves to victory. That's why I invited Mark Printz from Flamesnation to join me to talk about what happened, what the atmosphere was like at the Saddledome, and what he's expecting from his first playoff trip to Rogers Place tomorrow night. Lastly, I wrapped up the episode with another round of voicemails to get your take on what's been going on over the last few days as we navigate the madness that is the NHL playoffs. Somehow, that conversation spawned Wanye story about his grandpa pulling out his own teeth ahead of WW2. Back to the game, the guys talked about how that was a statement game for the Oilers as the team had to show plenty of resilience in order to secure two points. Splintering off from the game recap, the guys wondered whether there would be an appetite from the Oilers to bring back Mikko Koskinen as their backup next season provided that he would take a haircut on his contract and also that they could find a legitimate starter. Changing gears, the guys spent a few minutes talking about sports betting and whether players should be allowed to bet on games they're not involved in or not. Lastly, we wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a chat about the Nation Vacation to Calgary that will be taking place on March 26th and how you should absolutely be on this trip with us.
