Episode 306 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a great interview with Seattle Kraken prospect Victor Östman after a wild first season of pro hockey. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Östman discusses his roots and training in the position growing up in Sweden, his continuing evolution in the USHL and then through four years at the University of Maine, and a crazy first full season after turning pro at the end of past season. It included games in the ECHL, AHL and his NHL debut with the Kraken, as well as a goalie fight despite having an EBUG backing him up on the bench and a little known rule that kept him in the game. It's another can't miss interview with a goalie we suspect you'll hear a lot about in the coming years. In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, we asked listeners if you could pick ONLY 1 thing to work on this summer, would it be: A. Goalie-specific training with a coach (at a camp or 1-on-1), B. Playing Games or C. Skating (power or goalie specific). That sparked a great discussion on the benefits of each, with input from respondents to our question on social media. We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features Charlie Lindgren breaking down video and discussing the importance of in-zone awareness even when your teammates have the puck, as well as the importance of not widening out as you drift backwards in order to avoid biting on fakes. And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports to for a deep dive on the new CCM EFLEX 7 pads and gloves that launch in full at retail next week.

The guys dig into optimism surrounding Samuel Honzek, ask which other Flames prospects made a leap in the second half, and look at potential centre options at picks 18 and 29–32. Episode 81: Frank Serratore. We had Army's HC on in the past so this week it was time for Air Force Academy's Frank Serratore to join the prohockeypod. The 25/26 season will be Frank's 29th season at Air Force and we talked about how he has continuously built solid teams over his time there. Frank is from Minnesota, and like me, was a goalie growing up. Our goalie chemistry was instantly there throughout the episode. What can I say, great minds think alike. Frank would go on to play D1 hockey at Western Michigan University for 2 seasons before transferring to Bemidji State. This is where Frank would get a intro to coaching, learning from Coach Bob Peters, which ignited his fire to coach. After school, Frank would be a HC/GM in the USHL for 5 years before becoming an Assistant Coach at the University of North Dakota. A few years passed and Frank was awarded the opportunity to become HC of the University of Denver. We talked about Frank's quick rise and if he felt he was ready at the time to be a HC. After 4 years at Denver, Frank would get a chance in Pro hockey with the Minnesota/Manitoba Moose of the IHL. After that, Air Force Academy was in need for a coach and Frank's name came up. After speaking to his wife, he interviewed for the job and it ended up being a great decision, as he has been there ever since. We talked about the academy, the types of players they look to recruit and how they continue to stay competitive, even though they can't use certain advantages that other NCAA programs have access to (portal, transfers, 5th year). It was really interesting to talk to Frank and his knowledge/love of the game. Hope you enjoy!

In episode #288, we welcome former NHL Head Coach Don Granato. He is of course a member of possibly the most accomplished hockey family to come out of United States.   He got his start coaching in 1993 with the Wisconsin Capitals of the USHL, and since then has been getting his reps in across a multiple of leagues and levels, most recently as the Head Coach of the Buffalo Sabres. And as you'll hear, there may not be a better person to have a conversation about player development with. His story of how he positioned himself to enhance world class talent is fascinating.  We cover a lot of ground in this episode, and I sense you're going to leave with pages of notes.  Listen as he shares why experimenting in practice is key for team growth, why coaching less should be the objective, and the incredible story of switching from goalie to player.
