V Slovane rýchlo rástol a v juniorke sa stal kapitánom. „Mojím snom bolo, že raz budem sedieť v strede tímovej fotky ako kapitán Slovana. Nesníval som o NHL,” priznal.Silným momentom jeho kariéry boli MS do 20 rokov v roku 1999. Michal Hudec sa na turnaj dostal ako náhradník po zranení Petra Fabuša, no napokon zažil nezabudnuteľný šampionát. „Dodnes ma mrzí semifinále s Rusmi, že sme nešli až do finále. Z 0:3 sme to stiahli na 2:3 a tretiu tretinu sme ich drvili,” zhodnotil.V období, keď pôsobil v Českých Budějoviciach, si zahral aj svoje jediné seniorské majstrovstvá sveta v Rige 2006. Na turnaj sa dostal ako trinásty útočník a neskôr sa dočkal aj gólu. „Bol som rád, že som tam bol aspoň raz,” dodal.Silnú stopu zanechal aj v Banskej Bystrici, kde bol kapitánom. Do klubu prišiel v čase, keď nemal žiadny angažmán a po problematickej sezóne v Česku. Po úspešnej sezóne sa vrátil do Slovana, no neprebojoval sa do zostavy KHL, a tak zamieril späť do Bystrice.Aktuálne je okrem iného aj výkonným riaditeľom nového hokejového klubu HK Malacky: „Je to veľká výzva. Chcem vytvoriť zdravé prostredie, kde budeme komunikovať a hovoriť pravdu. Chcem tomu dať iný level fungovania mládežníckeho klubu.”

[50:21] - Kyle Chipchura has gone from captain of the Prince Albert Raiders, to 1st round pick of the Montreal Canadiens, well over a decade in the NHL with other stops in Anaheim and Phoenix to now being back in the WHL and on the bench with the Edmonton Oil Kings. An interview 21 years later than first planned, this was definitely worth the wait as he reflects on his career highs and lows.
