Dozens of draft picks and more than a dozen players changed hands as the OHL trade window opened. Among the interesting stories are Brantford's attempts at a quick turnaround and the curse of being a captain in Niagara. Dan and Farwell break it down while trying to answer a modern OHL team's question -- how do you make up for players lost to the NCAA? Maybe it's time for compensatory OHL draft picks to make up for those losses. Or not... What part of Ethan Belchetz's NCAA deal, Barrie's new buyer, or contract extensions in Sudbury did a prominent OHL reporter want to recall? Farwell and Dan have ideas, plus a look into the Inbox, a discussion of USHL expansion, and some news from the OHL combine that Attack fans will love to hear and Sting fans will frown at. And finally, if the OHL wants to prove it's all grown up, it should act that way by hosting a splashy live draft. Period. Email us anytime at ohlpodcast(at)rogers.com. Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/sXhNxazZXN4 In episode 338 of the Glass and Out Podcast, Coachella Valley Firebirds assistant coach Stu Bickel stops by to chat. Bickel is a great example of a coach who has taken all the information he was fed as a player, evolved it, and made it his own as he has embarked on his coaching journey. Bickel grew up just outside of Minneapolis and would go on to star for Eden Prairie High School. After two seasons in the USHL, he joined his hometown University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, but after one season, as an undrafted free agent, he decided to bet on himself and make the jump into professional hockey. The move paid off, as in his fourth season, he appeared in 69 games with the New York Rangers. While not formally a coach at this stage, we sense that the first player he ever coached was himself. He needed to define his strengths and weaknesses and evolve his game into one that would enable him to contribute on a nightly basis in the National Hockey League. That is now a job he's doing full-time today, developing defencemen for the NHL's Seattle Kraken, the parent club of the Firebirds. Listen as he shares his process for improving defencemen, the importance of being good on the breakout, and the power of video as a teaching tool. Hrajúci generálny manažér prezradil detaily zo zákulisia hokeja: Vieme sa veľmi ťažko pohádať

Hokejový Martin prežíva zložité, no o to zaujímavejšie obdobie. Byť generálnym manažérom a zároveň aktívnym hráčom v jednej šatni prináša množstvo bizarných i komických situácií. Ak hľadáte úprimný pohľad do zákulisia slovenského hokeja, doplnený o množstvo šatňového humoru a zaujímavých spomienok, najnovší diel podcastu suSPEAK na ŠPORT.sk s Jaroslavom Markovičom by ste si rozhodne nemali nechať ujsť.

Episode 339 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a fantastic interview with top Montreal Canadiens puck-stopping prospect Jacob Fowler (and a couple shorter chats with southpaw Andrei Vasilevskiy, fellow fighter Alex Nedeljkovic and veteran Jake Allen). In the feature interview appropriately presented by NHL Sense Arena, we catch up with Fowler shortly after returning to Laval of the AHL following his first big stint up with the Canadiens and get to know the 21-year-old and his unique path to pro, including growing in a non-traditional hockey market in Florida, long drives to the rink that reminded us of Carey Price's early years (minus the plane), and playing a wide variety of sports long after many of his peers were specializing in one. A gold medal winner at the World Junior A Championships and World Junior Championships, a USHL champion, MVP and top goalie, and a two-year standout at Boston College, including winning the Mike Richter Award as the top goalie in the NCAA, this is a can't miss get-to-know-Fowler interview. In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop it Goaltending U the App, we follow up last week's conversation about how to handle vague critiques with a longer look at how to help your young goalie engage in conversations with their coaches -- with or without you, depending on age.We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features Dustin Wolf of the Calgary Flames explaining post-exit options, as well as his keys to shifts off screen shots. And in our weekly gear segment we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports to continue our look at the new Vaughn Ion line, this time with a closer look at their latest chest protector.
